You simply do not get how it works do you. UGA sells out it’s fan allotment every spring for the upcoming season through renewals and people who have waited in line for an opening for years. There is also an allotment of tickets offered to each opponent. When tickets like this go on sale to the general public, it is because the visiting team COLD NOT SELL OUT their allotment.

For a Tech fan(sic) to make fun of this situation, is truley ironic and poetic to say the least.

Just a couple of thoughts…

I do not think Tech sold out one game this year in a stadium that only seats 50,000. So please do not talk about Tech alumni/fans and sell outs being job related.

I’m a Dawg and I promise you that I make more in a year then most of you clowns will make in three. Get a little tired of the ’supriority’ you try to bring to the table. It bogus.

I do not ever remember seeing or hearing of Tech vehicles being vandalized at a Georgia game. I had a very nice car ‘keyed’ while at a Tech game.

Class? If the profanity the flows from your student section reflects intelligence and class, then you have a long way to go.

If your going to throw stones from a house, you might check to see how much glass is in that house.

Tech sold out their allotment…maybe the ones for sale are extra student section tickets. I am a Tech season-ticket holder and Tech’s allotment sold out in the first month. The Tech season ticket page also notes that UGA tickets are sold out.

As a UGA man, I am hoping that UGA wins BIG and then gets shut out from a bowl. That really gets the attention of the executive BOD, as they expect bowls every year. A Papa Johns Bowl would be the very bottom. UGA is there. 09 was nearly as bad.

RIcht is really worse off right now than when he took over from Jim Donnan ……….why? Richt inherited Jim’s recruits like Pollack and David Green and Thomas Davis and Sean Jones and his players are not very good. Last year’s 09 recruiting class was not good and this coming class will be about as bad. Kids like Brandon Smith or Carlton Thomas or Wooten or tons more have not done anything for UGA. Richt has failed UGA in his recruiting mission. He took the UGA money and went to sleep.

UGA will win this game around 45-24 and it should be very ugly for GT. The crowd will be rough on the bees and the pre game taunting will be just awful and it should be. We recall how in the second half in 2008 UGA laid down with #09 reshad jones and evans missing tackle after arm tackle. We blew a 16 point halftime lead by laying down. Fisrt half we blew them out. Samuels FUMBLED the k.o. in the second qtr. They scored two plays later and there it went ……………we laid down.

I want Richt after the game to announce his resignation. He is done and the UGA football program is at the bottom. This is why we pay him $3 million??

If he does not quit ………… then we post pone it till same time next year and then, maybe we see TWO coaches resign of get fired ………….CPJ AND CMR.

Pike….if UGA beat UGA 2 years ago, then Tech beat Tech last year and we are 0-0 since Paul Johnson stepped in. Demarius Thomas was wide open and dropped a pass in the closing minutes of last year’s game to end it for us. We would at least have been on the 30 yard line with plenty of time to beat you by 1 point. And as Murphy noted earlier, it only takes 1 “pint” to get a W.

I’d venture to say that UGA has as many nerd students as Tech because there are 30,000 of you idiots and only 20,000 Tech students with lots being graduate/research students from overseas (i.e. Nerds). I won’t take the time to explain ratio and proportion to you (you’d probably call me a nerd and tell me to “buzz off” again)

I hope Griffin High leads all high schools nationwide in rushing yards. If not, they should run Techs more “basic” offense, since we are able to lead the nation in rushing with our simplistic “garbage”.

I love basketball season, but this is football we are talking about. I’m not changing the subject, you are.

The simple facts are these: the tickets for sale are returned from the allotment appropriated by Tech that did not sell to Tech fans. Now they are put on sale to the public. I’m a Dawg fan who hasn’t missed a game in 31 years and I graduated from UGA with 2 degrees. Dawg fans are pretty rude and embarrassing but I’ve NEVER been physically assaulted or seen it happen to visiting fans like I have TWICE at Tech’s stadium and by so-called men! Hit in the back twice because they were mad about losing and I was the closest Dawg fan. There is no class among Tech fans. Win or lose character is not related to your college affiliation, it is a direct reflection of what and who you truly are.

Not inerested! Tech is in trouble with an arrogant coach that will not make adjustments, stubborn, and thinks he knows it all. Georgia will crush Tech, but Johnson does not care ’cause he states the Georgia game does not define Tech’s season. He just does not get it! He cannot recruit due tot the gimic offense. He will loose all of Gailey’s recruits after this year.(Gailey could recruit, just sucked as a coach. See his NFL teams record now!) Johnson will be fired, but it will take 3 to 4 years. I gave up season tickets this year and no more contributions to the athletic departmet. Tired of Tech accepting poor performance in all sports. Basketball with Hewitt sucks! Yjackets2001….if you truly are who you say you are…good riddance. Go cheer for someone else and don’t come back just because we get back in the top 25.

As to recruiting, I’d hate to be a running back on a team that will lead the nation in rushing every year and throws the ball about 5% of the time.

At some point, we have to realize that GT is recruiting in the South against SEC schools and we will not be able to get 5-star recruits like the UGAs, AU, Alabama, TN, and Florida and we couldn’t out bid the SEC teams with more cash if we wanted to. The great thing about PJs offense is that we don’t need 5 star recruits. We need an athletic QB who can take some hits, but who doesn’t have aspirations of being Peyton Manning in the NFL. We need a few decent running backs who want to get the ball often and one WR that is willing to block and be able to go up and get a ball every once in a while in single coverage.

Murphy, I’m glad someone finally admitted that Reggie Ball was an inside job. I knew it all along!

Hey, I am NOT a fair weather fan, but I am quite realistic. The UGA team stinks — worst I remember for a long time. At least they try, however. My Tech team has little talent and little heart. UGA has 25% more talent on both sides of the ball and twice the heart. The worst thing is that we fired our defensive coordinator because our defense was abysmal. We hire Groh (supposed to be a big defensive guru) for big money and we actually get worse! How is that possible?

I expect an easy win for UGA. I hope not, but I sure would not bet on Tech.

Let me educate you on how college football works:
Each school reserves a certain amount of tickets for the opposing team’s fans to purchase. If they don’t sell them all, they are returned to the home team and offered to those fans.

This means Tech fans didn’t want the tickets. Not the other way around.

I’ve never understood how anyone – even an alumnus – could support and take pride in UGA’s football team. When you look at their history for the past forty years, how can anyone ignore Jan Kemp and the “remedial studies” scam, the Jim Harrick fiasco, the DUIs in the athletic office, the DUIs and other arrests of players, the #1 party school tag (i.e., the most drunk students), the suspensions and outright dismissals, the Fulmer Cup, and on and on?

As disgraceful and humiliating as it is, I don’t see many alums and fans demanding an end to this sordid activity. It sets UGA apart as the kind of school most people abhor, and it’s become an embarrassment to the whole state of Georgia.

Will it never end? Apparently not while Mark Richt is at UGA. Richt is perhaps the biggest hypocrite in the United States. But even with all the cheating and lawlessness that he ignores, he still can’t win the SEC.

So you’re paying him to be BCS champions, but he can’t even win his SEC division. So why do you pay him millions of dollars a year?

Thanks for trying to bring light into the darkness. The bottom line is our defense has not stopped anyone all year. Murray will have 6 to 8 seconds to throw the ball and even though we do have a pretty solid secondary, they won’t be able to keep Green covered for that long. And I haven’t even started talking about our run defense…….O man this is gonna suck.

At least I won’t be all pumped up for a win like I was last year and be depressed the entire offseason! I like CPJ, but if he can’t get better talent on the field then he needs to go.The only success he has had has been with Gailey’s recruits. We will see…..

I wish all the Tech fans would also realize that every school has classless and trashy fans.

I am a female student who was at Tech last year when Georgia beat Tech. After the game, I was walking back with my Tech friends, and a drunk man from Tech flat out hit me and called me a stupid Georgia C*nt.

That same game, we had a Tech fan throw a beer at one of the girls in our group, and with both instances, neither of them were provoked at all.

Stop thinking your school is innocent. Every school has their sour grapes.

I think it’s so funny that techies are saying that UGA people have the foul mounths and don’t know how to behave at a game. I was with my 8 year old son last year at the game. Sitting in a nuetral area and you nerds did nothing, but cuse and throw things at my son and myself all game long. Before you say we probably deserved it, I’m very reserve and don’t go to games, yes even in Athens, and bad mouth the fans of the opposing teams. My son’s 1st game away from Athens. Nice example of a fan base. There were a couple of exceptions of tech fans that apologized, but 95% were idiots!

That’s funny Tech Fan, because my mother went to Bama and thinks Tennessee fans are the worst, and so do most of her friends and family members, and my dad went to Florida and had great experiences in Athens when he has visited.

Just because you have an opinion and the ones around you have that opinion doesn’t mean it holds true for all fans all over. Seriously, I can’t count the number of people I know that come to Athens and love Athens and attend other SEC schools. At the end of the day, it isn’t a matter of what school each person represents, but how educated that person is.

Most people say Tech is full of dorks and no women, but some of my best friends are very attractive women at GT, and not to mention, I date a very attactive and successful Tech graduate, and many of his friends hold true to those qualities as well. I just will continue to laugh at the stereotypes at every school, but laugh even harder at those that hold so tightly to the name calling and silly behavior.

At the end of the day, I doubt you would ever ignore my friendly personality or success if you had no idea what school I attend and love.

Besides, most of the obnoxious fans you meet from most games/schools anyways never even attended the school they support. For anyone to flat out call any fan any name or label is just a reflection of your own character, not theirs.

Selling out stadiums is more important than wins…ok got it!! Lets see the crime at GT is committed by those that do not attend school (probably UGA grads) and the crime in Athens is committed by the football team…got it!! Auburn is the dirtiest team ever while no mention of the chain gang rushing the field to fight, illegal chop blocks or piling on…got it!! UGA cant beat Tech with their “Dream Team” and the news of Nesbitts injury has lit Athens ablaze reminiscent of Sherman ( I would be happy if I were yall as well being that running QB’s, delayed dives down the middle and option pitches demolished yall all season)…got it!! The bottom line is that with the recruiting power, money, sold out stadiums, “heritage” of UGA football…to look at this season as anything other than a waste of talent and a disappointment would prove that there really aren’t to many brain cells still living in the cesspool of the south!! Still, Toomer’s has a fire about once a year, and every one of them is linked to opposing fans. Last time though Tech was in Sanford Stadium, the football players were ripping up the hedges, so don’t even go there. Anyone making the terrorist comments about Georgia Tech should be publicly shamed. There was one kid like ten years ago that got arrested for taking video of a building. Was it Tech that trained him? No, Tech expelled him. In a time of war you should be ashamed to take your “hatred” of your rival (a fellow American university) far enough to identify them with your actual wartime enemy then you are foolish, ignorant, less-than-patriotic, and possibly racist (if you’re making the comment because of Tech’s noted diversity of student body).

Clean, Old Fashioned Hate is no longer clean or old-fashioned if you’re going to accuse a team of being an enemy of the United States. Have some honor. Call us nerds, call us geeks, call us womanless. We can take it. That’s all within the bounds. But we as a country are at war. Don’t cross that line.

You can say whatever you want but Fairly started most of that crap. UGA lineman were doing what football players have done for years. Protect their QB. Thats a far cry from Mr. Fairly who was intentionally trying to hurt Murray the entire game.

I lost a lot of respect for Auburn Saturday.

Mom actually went to the Auburn game and the VT game a few years back. She was so happy she did because the Auburn fans were GREAT. The VT fans were good (as are the Clemson Fans for the most part) but we met VT fans mom and dad worked with at Ga Power years ago. That made it special. We went to their house and watched the UGA v Vols game that night talked and had a spread with a few VT couples and their friends.

I actually (no hatred meant by this) have had a real question for a long time. Maybe a history buff could answer it for me:

Why does UGA – a proud Southern university – use the Battle Hymn of the Republic as its fight song? One would think that since our Southern forefathers were slaughtered by the thousands to that tune everyone down here would be averse to it. But UGA uses it for school spirit played by “the Redcoats” – itself another name you’d expect people to not want to identify themselves with. I’d love to know how that fight song started getting used down South. Auburn does it too, right?

Georgia Tech has the tune of Dixie hidden in the song “Up With the White and Gold.” You can hear it in a trumpet flourish coinciding with the words “…down on the old farm…”

DIT, you are simply wrong to suggest that my critique of the experience in Athens is just bias. I loathe UGA. I admit it. But I do try to be objective as I possibly can. It is hard and at times I fail, but just a few weeks a Tech fan friend told me he “hated it when you defend UGA.” Well, I was being objective in what we talking about. Look at my response to HL above. I freely note that 2002 was an aberration and my other experiences in Athens, win or lose have not been that bad. But that day was NOT just one or two people. It may not have been a majority but it sure was not just one or two. It was so bad that it alone stands out as unlike anything I have ever experienced at a sporting event. It was behind the normal “rivalry intimediation” and into a level of intimidation that surpassed what you expect in an unfriendly sporting arena environment. All Tech fans are not perfect. I said that sometimes we come into that game with a chip on our shoulder. I have seen Tech fans behave in ways that day that I NEVER see on other games. Are they wrong for that? Absolutely, but the fans that standout behaving like that don’t total up to the proportion I saw that day in Athens in 2002. Yeah, I am biased, but yeah that is reality too.

Having been in Personnel for a Fortyne 500 Company for many years I saw many aplicants for job openings. I always gave short shrift to any THUGA applicant as the degree wasn’t worth the paper it was printed on. It carried about the weight of having attended a VBS. From many past mistakes I knew that the applicants from THUGA were just not up to the task of complex issues of the business world. The dissension they would bring with their red neck mentality was just not worth the efort to bring them up to speed with intense OJT. Unfortunately, I had to reject my own son who had “matriculated” through Athens. He is now 35 and a barback in the cesspool of New Orleans and damn lucky to have the job. There is no doubt that THUGA failed my son. Where is Jan Kemp when you need her. Go Jackets–stomp their asses!!

I went to the GT-Miami game last week and sat behind the most obnoxious Tech fans I’ve ever met. There were many Tech alumni sitting near us with their children and these guys were dropping the F bomb after every play, yelling and cursing about everything. Several people asked them to calm down and watch their language but it didn’t matter. Finally the Tech fans sitting around these obnoxious jerks just started to leave. My point is, there are obnoxious fans at every game, no matter where.

I went to the GT game last Saturday vs Miami. The place was maybe 3/4 full (maybe) and they honored the 90 NC team at halftime and nobody cared because they were all in the bathroom (or not even at the game.) It was embarrassing for Tech. Bobby Ross gave a rousing half time speech to get everybody fired up but it obviously didn’t work. Tech never scored again.
