Quarterback Aaron Murray didn’t practice Tuesday as Georgia began preparations for its regular-season finale against Georgia Tech. Murray is listed as “day-to-day” with a bruised knee and a bruised sternum, both suffered in last Saturday’s loss at Auburn.
In related news, the SEC said Tuesday that it has decided not to suspend Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley for his controversial hits on Murray. The league plans to handle the matter “internally” with the school.
One hit in particular — a late, helmet-to-the-back blow for which Fairley drew a penalty in the third quarter –- has drawn much scrutiny this week.
Georgia’s open date clearly comes at a good time for the battered Murray. The Tech game is on Nov. 27 in Athens.
Coach Mark Richt told the Touchdown Club of Atlanta on Monday, “We think by game time he’ll be able to play.” Richt later said on his radio call-in show, “There is no guarantee he will play in the game, but we’re thinking there’s a good chance he will.”
Tuesday’s practice was closed to the media, and no players or coaches were available for interviews afterward. Georgia said in a news release that Murray did not practice.
“Practice today was a start” in preparing for Tech’s option offense, Richt said in the release. “It’s always tough to simulate their offense. The better job the scout team does, the better chance we have. It wasn’t anything to write home about, but it was a start.”

Stan Pike you are idiot! Ole Nick make all those hits on purpose. Anyone that would put their helmet in the back of the QB that late is not afraid of any late hits on the QB. Anyone that will pick up a QB and throw him on the ground and then land helmet first with all his weight and force, then get up and drag his facemask across his chin is a thug criminal, yes he will go to the NFL, buy drugs and end up in jail. Garbage, is what he is.

I’m puzzled by something. Why all the Whining by the uga fans? Seriously! ?
You guys played a good game… most every fan going in would have loved (and been amazed) to have been tied at halftime. Nobody all year has stopped Auburn’s offense and you did a great job doing so, up until the 4th quarter. I think uga held Auburn to it’s lowest yardage total all year — I think it was under 400, and I don’t believe anyone else has done that. So, why the moaning and whining… you’ve had an ‘off’ year… you’ve had off field problems, but honestly, you sound like Vanderbilt fans or maybe Kentucky in a down year, when they play well, come close to winning, then lose, and start whining and griping about the refs, or the rain, or something else, other than the fact you got beat by a better team that day. If I remember correctly, Auburn played well the last 2 years, and lost on the last play of the game with an almost complete pass in the endzone for a TD — didn’t catch it, lost the game, played well, end of story. No Whining…. got beat. I haven’t heard or read anywhere that the players are whining about the game like the fans….
Playing well and losing to a superior team is nothing to be ashamed of, but it’s amazing to me that the georgia fans seem to be acting like vandy or kentucky fans….why can’t you just say, ‘hey, you whipped us’ and get over it. The fans on this and other forums are making you, as a group, look like lower tier whiners…..grow up, get over it and start getting ready for next year. Keeping up the whining and complaining makes you look bad….. just saying.

The people who’ve joined the Dirty Fairley campaign should stop and listen our Buck Belue. You know things have gotten crazy when the former Georgia quarterback becomes the voice of reason.
“Fairley would be a rock star in Georgia if he played for the ‘Dogs,” Belue wrote on his blog. “But he plays for Auburn. So we hate him. I get it.”
It’s really a compliment. You don’t become the front-runner for the Lombardi Award by sending quarterbacks flowers. You do it by planting them.
Not the flowers. The quarterbacks.

My Email to Silve and Rogers Redding: Take it for what it is worth, I am entitled to my opinion like it or not!
November 17, 2010
Dear Sirs,
With all due respect, I am attaching an email I sent to Mr. Jay Jacobs of Auburn University; he is their Athletic Director. Although I am sure I will not receive a response or it will be read by any of you, I must express my disgust over the UGA vs. AU game. The Officiating was just plain horrible and there is a video rumored to be going around of one Official actually patting Cam on the back when he scored his first touchdown!!!!! How sick is that? I need only to attach 2 videos from You Tube to show and remind you of the flagrant fouls that were not called against AU! I am not a sore loser, for reference in the UGA vs. UF game, we lost that game because of OUR mistakes not because they were the better team-we just made so many errors they capitalized on it and I accepted it and admitted it! But this game has me so upset because of the officiating! I know my Coach and Coach Mark Richt has too much class, Integrity and respect to ever complain about this! Although, he should file a complaint but we all know he won’t because of his character-he is a class act! However, me being a Fan I will speak my peace and must complain about AU ‘s player Fairley and how he got away with so much! And how did Cam get to play while there are so many allegations of him going on? Are you and the NCAA not taking them serious and investigating them? After all, you and/or the NCAA sure did get A.J.Green really good but the Alabama player who sold his Jersey for what, $1,800, only got to sit out for 1 game-yet A.J. Green who sold his for $1,000 had to sit out for 4?!!!!! I am losing so much Faith in the SEC and it’s abilities to be fair and just anymore !!!!
A Sincerely Disgusted UGA Fan,
EMAIL ATTACHED to AU ATHLETIC DIRECTOR:
Dear Mr. Jacobs,
I approach you out of respect first of all before I make my comments towards your Football team and your Coach. That being said, it is obvious I am a UGA fan. Since you do not know me, here is a little information about me…… I have been a true and faithful UGA fan since the Dooley era dated back to the 70’s in my case. I bleed red and black, but I am also objective and will admit our areas of improvement. I have a cousin who is an Auburn graduate and fan (we cannot all be perfect-LOL), plus I am a distant relative to Paul “Bear” Bryant, so football is in my blood and yes, me being a UGA fan makes me the black sheep.
Now my comments. I am very disturb, to put it mildly, at the game on Saturday and the way your Coach handle Fairley, with his obvious late hits, roughing our quarterback and then the fight at the end! That fight was plain shameful for one main reason! You won the game, that was obvious and you are ranked in the top 2-we are not even ranked, so you are the ones with the chance at the Championship! So why start the fight?!!! To me that was not signs of a deserving Championship team, your team showed no class what so ever! Then Fairley…. Why was he allowed to continue to play in the game? It was so obvious he was out of control! I am so very disappointed in your school Athletic Department Football Coaching Staff and I never ever thought I would ever say this because I hate him with a passion but I am actually going to pull for Spurrier against ya’ll for the SEC Title! My only hope is that your Coach learned from this game about how to handle his players and their emotions and when to take them out! We may have lost but our Coach Mark Richt has class and integrity!
Sincerely,
jim8307

Georgia lost a football game, but Auburn and the SEC have lost their integrity with the Cam Newton and Nick Fairley saga. The SEC has to be the most corrupt conference in the nation. The conference leadership is spineless and will take no action against any school that has an opportunity to play in the BCS MNC game. The only thing the SEC is interested in is money and TV ratings IMO, ethics, integrity, and player safety be damned.

A couple of points to all fans. Football unlike golf isn’t a gentlemans game. That said, Fairley’s style of play isn’t what I would coach a young man to do. You can play hard, lights out, whatever you want to call it without “intentionally” trying to injure the opponent. That’s “dirty” football period.
As far as our defense goes CMR has throttled CTG’s intensity. His ability to get the players attention. CTG can only do so much within CMR’s guidelines. CMR sets the tone for our team and his “passive” nature is our current culture. Not condoning or criticizing, but want to bet as to whether “young” AJ McCarron goes against Sabans wishes again? It’s pretty “damn” clear who’s in charge in that program.
Get ready for another year of “mediocrity” Dawgs, that’s what we will get with CMR. I hope you’re all happy with where the program is.

Fairley has been getting away with this all year. If you watched other games he hit late and often and the REFS just looked the other way. The SEC refs should be ashamed of themselves since thug Chizick won’t do anything about they could have… walkem back 30 yards a series even Cam Newton can’t win those games. ROLLLLLLLLLLL TIDE!!! They should have sent 3 or 4 players after that guy that hit Murray while they were still on the field. But who in the hell knows what is going on in Athens these days. In that Auburn game Georgia showed no will to overtake Auburn—-there is no fight in Georgia any more—–

If the officials had not *looked the other way* when Georgia emptied its benches (twice) you’d have no starters to put on the field against GATech.

Fact. The SEC office is becoming an absolute joke around the country. Losing respect over every terrible decision they make. You either make the decision to suspend him against Alabama or SC. End of story. Now, what happens if Auburn makes the nat’l champ game and Fairley gets ejected in front of the whole nation for a dirty play. Its all around the SEC already that the kid is dirty. Makes the SEC look bad, makes Auburn look bad. You’ll have announcers asking why this kid wasn’t suspended before in front of the whole country. If you suspend him before that maybe he will get a hint into his thick head that he needs to clean it up. The SEC office is a disgrace to the game of football and people around the country are starting to notice that.

JUST AS I EXPECTED, THE GOOD OLD BOYES OF THE SEC WILL DEFEND THE OFFICIALS TILL HELL FREZES OVER. They let this game get out of hand. But the Auburn coaches did not help. Farley has the mentallity of a mob hit man. Dumb and stupid and will do what the god father (Head Coach) tells him to do. The O line did block till Murray let go of the ball. Farley then hit late. A flagant personal foul. Carries with it being tossed out of the game. And the head butt in the first half, another coached item. That got a flag, too. I can only think that the coaches are coaching this. But the idea is to win at all costs. Money or dirty play. I was amazed that Georgia didn’t start to retaliate earier. Coach Richt doesn’t coach that. But as an official, if the players are allowed to hit late, it will only continue until someone (The Referee) stops it. By the way, the referee has the white hat on. I have called the captains together many a time and warned them to clean up their team. If they don’t, I do. Both teams were taking cheap shots, but one teams stood out.

So Auburn fans. You constant whining that Bama is protected and Auburn is vilified by the SEC will be put to the test. When Fairley cheap shots McElroy with either a body splash or a really, really late hit at full speed and a spearing helmet, and I say when, because it’s definitely not if, but when it happens, then you’ll know for sure whether all of your incessant whining about the preferential treatment the Beloveds get is actually true or not. If Fairley is given unnecessary roughness personal fouls for the first time this season against Bama, then all your orange-headed step-child insecurities will be validated. On the other hand, if he continues to just get a late hit penalty on one out of three, then your constant whining is just sour grapes after all.
By the way, if any of you Fairley apologists had stopped defending his indefensible actions long enough to think for a moment, you’ll notice nobody has an issue with late hits from any of the other Auburn defensive players, just Fairley. The reason is that none of the other Auburn players took late hits because they all are not trash like this log. He is an individual piece and reasonable people can see that it’s not an indictment of the whole team, just Fairley. On the other hand, many of you morons that defend his actions are simply defending his actions because he’s on your team. Blind defense of any player against overwhelming evidence is a sure sign of inbreeding.
And yes, there was retribution by some UGA O-line. I’m not talking about chop blocks, those happen, but the supposed eye-gouging in the pile. I don’t condone it. I can only assume they felt they had to go outside the rules to protect their QB because Fairley was going outside the rules to hurt him. Also, anyone who says it’s not illegal unless the refs call a foul is just an f-ing moron and is impervious to a logic.

Both teams emptied the benches…so careful where you go with that comment, the TV angle was to UGA so it showed only the UGA players, but both benches emptied. As for Fairly, I too sent an email to Commissioner Slive outlining my disgust for Auburn’s actions during the game as well as the entire season. I encourage everyone that feels Auburn should suffer the same fame as USC (player suspended for a half for flagrant late hit) and MSU (1 game suspension for Personal foul no a receiver away from the play). Commissioner’s Slive’s email is commissioner@sec.org. Doubt we will see anything from the commish except his continued attempts to garner another national championship and sell out the integrity of the league. Maybe the SEC Board of Presidents need to look into Slive’s actions and review his current contract. Handling such fragrant fouls “internally with the institution” is just another way of saying whitewashing over it and hoping the ire from 11 of 12 institutions forget about it in 2 weeks.

The world is surely a better place now that we have a “Brand New Bammer Fan” poking around. bammer, I’m sorry to inform you, but you are a complete moron! Fairley is simply a guy playing to the whistle, who admittedly, made a mistake on one play. How many times in the history of the game of football has a young man made a mistake on the field? Does that bannish him forever into the realm of being known as dirty player? Why h*ll no! It takes a pattern to achieve such lowly status. While many of you morons buy into the mere fact that Fairley has knocked out his share of QB’s this year then he must be a “dirty player”, the fact remains he has been flagged for very few late hits all year. Surely you don’t think the SEC refs just let him get away with cheap shots. The bottom line is he is a difference maker, and he showed that on Saturday, just as he has all year. You morons don’t like the fact that he is on an Auburn team you all had penned in as W’s on your preseason picks. Mark my words, Fairley will take down McElroy next week with a booming hit that will be legal. There will be more whinning from the haters and “New Bammer Fan” you can join right in with them now that you are one of them.

I think everyone needs to take a deep breath and take your medication, I don’t care who you cheer for. I am an Auburn fan, and love my school and my team. I think it is a little over dramatic to start calling our whole team, program, and school dirty and clasless. Are there some who are, absolutely – every school and program has them. Please give me some other examples aside from Fairley, which I give you, I don’t agree with some of his playing, but what else – on the field football plays that makes us dirty . “HeyDawg” – I think was the name, no question a lot of people can slam a QB, that is not special but, you have to admit not many of them can get to a QB like Fairley can. Again not condoning but, what majority have applauded him for is that, his quickness and being tough to block. I for one have always enjoyed this rivalry. After living in GA for a while (and no I didn’t previously live in a barn or have cows…really people) and having a lot of friends who are UGA alum pull for UGA next in the SEC. After all of this and everything that has been said really all I can is, just wow. So, UGA fans are going on about late hits even though during the Georgia-Georgia Tech game last year, post whistle, the UGA defenders continued twisting and jerking at Tech’s QB’s legs until he ad to leave the game for two quarters? And then bragged about a victory by 3, and now want to whine about the loss to Auburn?
Both teams were dirty. That’s SEC football. LSU, UGA, South Carolina, Auburn, Alabama, Florida. Jeez, man, if FSU were in there, you’d have all the dirtiest teams in college football.

Above all, remember the young man from Rutgers who is paralyzed (not from a cheap shot). Just imagine what would happen if a player is permanently paralyzed from a cheap shot. Just something to think about. I would not want that on my conscience.
