Dogs practice without Murray; SEC won’t suspend Fairley

Quarterback Aaron Murray didn’t practice Tuesday as Georgia began preparations for its regular-season finale against Georgia Tech. Murray is listed as “day-to-day” with a bruised knee and a bruised sternum, both suffered in last Saturday’s loss at Auburn.

In related news, the SEC said Tuesday that it has decided not to suspend Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley for his controversial hits on Murray. The league plans to handle the matter “internally” with the school.

One hit in particular — a late, helmet-to-the-back blow for which Fairley drew a  penalty in the third quarter –- has drawn much scrutiny this week.

Georgia’s open date clearly comes at a good time for the battered Murray.  The Tech game is on Nov. 27 in Athens.

Coach Mark Richt told the Touchdown Club of Atlanta on Monday, “We think by game time he’ll be able to play.” Richt later said on his radio call-in show, “There is no guarantee he will play in the game, but we’re thinking there’s a good chance he will.”

Tuesday’s practice was closed to the media, and no players or coaches were available for interviews afterward. Georgia said in a news release that Murray did not practice.

“Practice today was a start” in preparing for Tech’s option offense, Richt said in the release. “It’s always tough to simulate their offense. The better job the scout team does, the better chance we have. It wasn’t anything to write home about, but it was a start.”

The spear to the back was a cheap shot…not only was it late, he led with the crown of his helmet. Any barner supporting this play as a “good football” play is an idiot.

Raking his helmet across Murray’s face was a little over the top.

The shot to the knee looked incidental to me.

Why was big bad Fairly still playing in the last few minutes of the game when Auburn was up by 3 scores?

“Fairly” is obviously a misnomer. Fairly incorrigible is more like it.

That fat, ugly jerk knows nothing about playing football “fairly.”

And the SEC is a bunch of wimps for letting him abuse our fine young quarterback, and get away with it. Who paid off the refs? Cam’s daddy?

Just watch the replays. There’s no excuse for the way that jerk was driving Aaron into the ground, and blindsiding him late every chance he got.

The tub of lard should have to sit out the rest of the season, so he can contemplate how his abusive hits have the potential to paralyze young men for the rest of their lives.

And shame on the SEC for not manning up and doing the right thing.

Suspend the jerk, you war wimps!

You think Auburn is dirty?

When the opposing pitcher is throwing high tight ones at your batters head and an occassional one in the ribs, the home coach better take an corrective course of action so his players are protected. Our coaches stood on the sidelines and watched Murray take a beating and said the SEC will review the matter. If I was a potential recruit, I’d want to play for a team where I know the coaches have my back. That didn’t happen this pass Saturday.

You are right, it is not hard for Fairley to do what he is doing when YOUR OL doesn’t block worht a damn!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haven;t seen you apologize for PIGPEN Ben Jones and his chop blocks and late hits, eye gouging. But that’s right he is on St. Mark’s team and couldn;t do anything wrong.

28 arrests on the current team, a choke gesturing coach, a drunk thong AD, chop blocking, and you want to criticize Auburn

The SEC has instructed Coaches to say nothing publicly about Referees. Richt abides.

UGA players would block until the ball was thrown. That is really as long as you should be required to block…as long as you are not playing a piece of garbage like Fairley. And I mean piece of garbage in the nicest possible way.

Good Show SEC for not placing any emphasis on player safety. If you do nothing publicly in a situation like this…you do nothing. Don’t worry Slive, Daddy’s got your 30 pieces of silver coming…in that big BCS payday for the SEC you will do anything to get (including putting players at risk), You, Chizik, and Meyer are getting a lot of good publicity down here!

Sorry Dad couldn’t deliver this message in person…he is busy getting Alabama ready to play.

Auburn’s thugs are tougher than ThUGA’s thugs and the ThUGA faithful are complaining? Priceless!

ThUGA scores 21 points in the 1st quarter and then 10 points in the other three. Auburn scores 7 points in the 1st quarter and then 42 in the other three. ThUGA wins the 1st quarter and then decides that it’s party time; Auburn wins the other three and the game.

ThUGA’s lack of defense was the critical point. If you score 31 points you should win the game.

Has anyone else noticed this? Every time Auburn has an undefeated season or National Championship hopes here recently, they seem to be caught with players who have violated NCAA rules, you know, cheating, taking money, playing with illegal players,etc.,etc. Hmmmm…interesting 1993, 2004 and now 2010. Can Auburn compete fairley, oops I mean fairly.

5-6 hopefully 6-6. A season to forget. There were some bright spots particularly the development of Aaron Murray being one. Hopefully this year the DAWGS can pick up some exceptional talent that will help them improve, especially on the defensive side of the ball and hopefully a decent running back along the lines of Moreno. I hope the SEC revises its rules to protect the qbs and receivers better. The deliberate attempt to injure a qb after he has clearly released a ball should not be allowed no matter who the team is. If a UGA player is guilty of that then he should suffer the consequences. What Fairly did to Murray was unnecessary and clearly an attempt to knock him out of the game. The rules need to be changed now.

What’s funny is that Auburn had to use multiple trick plays to beat the Dawgs.

Auburn couldn’t just line up and beat us…they run multiple reverses, on-sides kick, etc.

Alabama is going to beat the crap out of the Barners. There is a little thing called Carma, and she’s going to bite the War-Tigers.

Okay…the whining is getting old. Your own Buck Belue disagrees with the your opinions and the whining. You had 6 personal fouls in the game sluga. You’ve led tghe NCAA in that category 2 of last 3 years. Hope you don’t lose too many players in the GT game for so many players coming on the field. If i was goggans, I’d swing too. It was 11 au players vs. 35 dogs. GT must be getting excited about your oline.

You are right about the trick plays. They called the game like and FCS school trying to pull a big upset against a perennial power. Not the #2 team in the country with the Heisman front-runner playing at home against an SEC also ran with nothing to play for. And they tell us to act like we have been there before–Huh. Weird.

Actually I was kind of glad to see Auburn have such a good season this year after having been down for a number of years. Hopefully the DAWGS can turn it around too. The DAWGS have had teams in the past that exhibited “swagger,” and that “swagger” has usually ended up in tons of unnecessary penalties. Playing hard and hitting hard is one thing, but mouthing off, pushing and shoving, hitting to injure just shows a lack of self discipline and respect for the opponent. I guess respect is out and trash mouthing and bullying is in.

I usually love the uga/au game and the similarities of the teams success. But I guarantee you are starting to sound more then desperate at this point on this matter. Not one time will you hear an AU fan complain about the chop blocking. It was a penalty. Press on.

By similar do you mean Big Money Boosters sneaking off with the AD in the dead of night to interview potential head coaching candidates? Thats classy. Man oh man I wish we could be more like Auburn.

I know our AD got a dui with a hooker and had her panties in his lap…but he was forced to step down. What about Lowder? Still a booster?

If Fairley is gone to the NFL next year, no worries. I’m sure Auburn will have reloaded with another batch of low class thugs in time for the next game in Athens. I’m not happy with Georgia’s off-field problems either, but at least Richt has been able to keep some amount of class when it comes to football. Fairley, you represent your school well. Its just not a representation people with self respect would strive for.

I’ve never understood how anyone – even an alumnus – could support and take pride in UGA’s football team. When you look at their history for the past forty years, how can anyone ignore Jan Kemp and the “remedial studies” scam, the Jim Harrick fiasco, the DUIs in the athletic office, the DUIs and other arrests of players, the #1 party school tag (i.e., the most drunk students), the suspensions and outright dismissals, the Fulmer Cup, and on and on?

As disgraceful and humiliating as it is, I don’t see many alums and fans demanding an end to this sordid activity. It sets UGA apart as the kind of school most people abhor, and it’s become an embarrassment to the whole state of Georgia.
