It’ll be the first Georgia-Georgia Tech game at night in Athens

The football game between Georgia and Georgia Tech in Athens on Nov. 27 will kick off at 7:45 p.m. and be televised on ESPN, it was announced Monday.

The game will be Georgia’s first — and only — this season to be played in Sanford Stadium at night. The Bulldogs’ previous five home games started in the noon hour. Also, this will mark the first time a Georgia-Georgia Tech game has been played in Athens at night, UGA confirmed.

Georgia, which doesn’t play this week, will enter the game with a 5-6 record. Tech will be 6-5 or 5-6, depending on Saturday’s game against Duke.

ESPN picked up the Tech-Georgia game after CBS, which has first choice among games in SEC stadiums, chose LSU-Arkansas for its 3:30 p.m. telecast on Nov. 27.

…You’re an embarrassment to your Tiger/Plainsman/Eagle/whatever “family”. Head on back to the trailer, now.

And your pathetic football program ( or whatever you call it) is an embarrassment to the nation….How many arrests did that program have again?

I hear GT is going to do a recognition ceremony during warm ups prior to the game … honoring the remaining seniors and juniors who participated in the GT win of the decade in ‘08. Each remaining player will be given a special letter jacket with an image of the State Championship Ring embossed on the back.

On a fair look at the Tech-Georgia matchup, I have little doubt that UGA will prevail. The reason is simple: They have better players than Tech.

On a related subject: Back when Tech was in the S.E.C. it led the long Tech-Georgia series, going into Tech’s first season of independency.
As an independent, it saw its lead quickly vanish. My old daddy had complained for years, “Georgia points (gets ready) for Tech; Tech don’t point for Georgia.” Well, Tech played tougher schedules than Georgia did at the time. But Georgia’s still “pointing” for Tech: They always
have an open date before the Tech game, while Tech plays somebody.
Analyze that.

Dawglasville,

Don’t take the bait from some of my fellow Tech fans. You are always rational and stay away from the Yellow Fuzz clowns – or dawgfan for that matter. For the record, I expect yall to have your way with us (again). My guess is 33-24 and a trip to some godforesaken place just like us. Enjoy the bye week and look on the bright side – at least yall get to have a full day of tailgating!

Come on over to Athens…..we’ll be nice and not punch you in the face. We’ll have a lot of fun….500 of y’all and 92,000 of us.

As far as who’s worse…..GIT plays in the Almost Credible Conference and has been abused. All of this talk of how bad the SEC East is will be debunked when the bowls roll around. Wait and see.

BTW, GIT’s new QB is a better QB than the other guy who is a running back with a small number.

This game will be like waiting on the results of an IQ score showdown between gomer pile and forrest gump! Or should i say….as exciting? Both of these teams are horrible but no surprise in that GT will get thumped again. I base this off that UGA went on the road vs the #2 team and played inspired for much of the game and played with pride. GT got waxed by an average miami team with it’s freshman 4th string QB at HOME!!! Dawgs roll in this one and this speaks to how bad GT really is this year. If we lose to duke, we officially are the worst team in a joke conference for 2010. If we beat duke that means we are the 2nd worst team in the ACC. Congrats guys, your cookies are being mailed out!! PLAY WITH SOME DAMN PRIDE FOR ONCE THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You must really be a pleasant person to be around with your positive attitude. Obviously, you are a very biased Tech fan who has no confidence in his team. You were just really hoping that the UGA team would be suspended, and maybe then your team would have a chance.

All I have to say is that Auburn wont be beating Uga for Another five years, once they get what is coming to them. Has anyone watched the Dawgs all season?! We definitely have talent on this team! Yes, we suffered the first 4 games because we did not have AJ, but we should be 10 and 1. Auburn was the only team that actually beat us this season. Every other game, we actually beat ourselves . . . we should have won them, but we didn’t. I know should da, would da, could da . . .

As far as, Auburn, it was a pretty great game until the last 2 – 3 minutes. I definitely did not agree with the refs calls or lack of calling. Fairley was hitting Murray late all night and was only called on it once. Auburn was then just given a 15 yd. penalty. Leading with his helmet to our QB’s back way after he had released the ball . . . Fairley should have been ejected! He knew exactly what he was doing. I think other teams have complained about him too. It’s pretty ironic that his name is FAIRley beccause he definitely does not play fair. The sad part is that he is a good player, but with no class. Now David Pollack was the perfect example of a great football player who also had class! I still love my Dawgs!!!!!

Auburn fan!…..Please for once come up with a conclusion as to what your team name is!……Is it a multiple guess or what….As for Tech, we’re both in the same boat….although I still think UGA has more tallented, faster, and overall good players than you do, that does’nt mean a hill of beans where I come from…..should be a great game between two teams that have nothing else to salvage but pride…….

To all you dog believers that it is a forgone conclusion that Tech will get blown away, remember your defense is not a brick wall. How many points were scored on you last week, by Auburn? Tech will still run you silly. The only question is how does Tech slow down Greene? My opinion is they don’t, but I don’t think that UGA can stop Tech’s running attack either. So it may come down to who has the ball last. This game will salvage a miserable season for one of the two teams. I don’t think either of the two teams have a clear advantage over the other. Both have underachieved this year.

I think this will be a good game between two average teams. UGA has shown promise at times this season and so has GT. In my opinion Florida is better than GT and UGA nearly pulled that game off. On the otherside I think Virginia Tech who started the season shaky but has won 7 straight games is better than UGA. And thats a game GT nearly won in Blacksburgh on Thursday night in front of 90,000+ and prob would have won if Nesbitt had not gone down.

I’m a GT fan so I cant say I have watched UGA very much but I can speak for GT. The Jackets can very well hang with most teams on any given night even without Nesbitt. Washington looks MUCH faster and a MUCH better passer. He will likely be better at running the offense after the Duke game and he could very well lead GT to a victory in Athens. BUT…. GT has only shown this potential in a few games this season. The same GT that won at North Carolina who nearly beat Top 5 LSU the week before lost to GT by the same margin. But then GT got pounded by NC State nearly lost to Wake and Clemson was a joke as well. After the beating at Clemson GT responded like I had hoped and nearly beat VT. So here is my point. I think GT will beat Duke and it want be close GT 41 Duke 24. Also after getting Washington more reps behind center and gaining some confidence I predict GT will hang in there with UGA in Athens. Like the political pundits would say I will call this game too close to call. I like GT but I’m a GT fan so I’m not predicting that because I have not seen UGA play enough this season to do so.

so…….. To all the uga fans stop slamming the GT fans we both wish our teams had performed better and they certainly haven’t. I think CMR at uga is a good coach and will have the pups ready to play. I also love CPJ at GT and think the same of him. Fact is both teams lack leadership and hopefully win or lose both will find a leader for next season starting with the game in Athens. Good luck.

P.S I know uga is losing Green but I think they will be better next year. I also think the same of GT. Much of their RS-Freshman and underclassmen are much bigger OL and DL players and that will show in the Win column soon. Also GT lost5 guys to the NFL last year and thats never easy to replace in one season. I like GT in the 8-10 win range next season and UGA in the 7-10 range with A-Murray in his second season

I think both GA and GT players will be glad when this season is over. Its been dissappointing for both players and fans. Doubt either squad will be fired up and look for slow starts from both.

CPJ will be first to make staff changes because he has the stones. Richt probably won’t but if he does fans will approve of change at DC and OC positions. Need new DC as Grantham is not a DC much as Martinez was a position coach. So is Grantham. Defensive stats for both of them very similar. No improvement and more losses. Bobo’s play calling is like a roller coaster ride. All ups and downs. Fans and the opposition know whats coming next mixed in w/some flashes of brilliance. However, the only consistency is no consistency as demonstrated in AU game. Up 21-7, Bobo relapses into bonehead playcalling resulting in punts and AU scoring 2 TDs. Of course, if our DC cou;ld coach maybe things would have been different. But all for naught.

The future looks dismal unless we clean house. That means CMR too if he has no stones and makes some big changes.

azdawg: your lack of football knowledge is astounding. The problem with the DEF has not been the scheming, it is a combination of a lack of talent and a lack of the proper personnel for the 3-4. We have some players that are perfectly tailored to the 4-3, particularly on the line (that is, after all, what they were recruited for), but who do not fit a 3-4 scheme at all. Most importantly, we do not have a true NT, which is arguably the most important position in the 3-4 (see, e.g., Terrence Cody).

The other problem is the secondary. Our safeties (particularly Baccari Fudd) are not very good, and the CBs were poorly coached at their positions by Martinez (backpedaling, e.g.). This takes more than one spring to fully correct.

Furthermore, the 3-4 has a steep learning curve and tends to improve greatly in the second year. Just ask Nick Saban.

My prediction: UGA wins 44-33( Our defense has a way of making anyone look good, see Florida game). Both teams will go to crap December Bowls. Richt will go 7-6, get to keep his job because our boosters STILL think he can turn it around. This of course means that we’ll have overhyped expectations going into 2011 which of course means that UGA will finish 5-7 and Richt will FINALLY be asked to “step down” by McGarity after a loss to Tech in Atlanta.

On a serious note….. Every Georgia fan should answer this one question…….Do you think the football program is moving in the right direction under Richt? Dont rush to answer…… look at the history….. is it improving or getting worse…. are we getting better players, are we holding them to higher standards, do they look prepared on the field, do the offensive schemes work, do the defensive schemes work, are we getting the most our of the talent we have (stafford, moreno),

If you honestly answer the question after looking at all the facts…….Richt has to go!
