AUBURN, Ala. – Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity said Saturday that he expects Mark Richt to remain the Bulldogs’ coach next season.
“Sure I do,” he said before the game against Auburn. “Absolutely.”
Asked if he’s ready to say unequivocally that he wants to retain Richt — often rumored to be on the occupational “hot seat” – as Georgia’s coach next season, McGarity elaborated:
“I’d say, based on the first 10 games, [there's] no question about that. I know we’re 5-5 [before Saturday's loss], but you go back and you look at all the dynamics involved — how close the games were. It’s not like we’re dealing with situations here of lop-sided losses, of being non-competitive. There are some games we wish we could have won by taking care of the ball a little better or making certain tackles or interceptions. You go back and play that through your mind, and if you dwell on it too long, it’ll just eat you up. You’ve just got to focus on getting better every day and do what you can do to be the best you can be.”
McGarity made his comments on the same day the Denver Post reported that Colorado is interested in talking with Richt about its vacant coaching job. The Post cited an unnamed source “close to the Colorado search.”
When informed of that report, McGarity said: “Really? I did not know that. That’s the first I’ve heard of that.”
UPDATE: Richt chuckled when told after the game about the report. “Georgia is my home,” he said. He left it at that.
McGarity said he has not been contacted by Colorado and has gotten no indication that Richt wants to be anywhere other than Georgia. Richt, in his 10th season as the Bulldogs’ coach, has said repeatedly over the years that he wants to complete his career at UGA. McGarity said his sense “absolutely” is that Richt wants to be at Georgia.
“He and I have had great discussions all season long,” McGarity said. “We have been very frank with each other. . . . I have seen nothing but all things pointing to him wanting to stay at the University of Georgia.”
Asked if he, reciprocally, has signaled to Richt that Georgia wants to keep him, McGarity said: “I think so. I tell you what: One thing we’re going to do is spend all the time necessary with our coaches to give them all the resources they need. We’re in the hole with them. When we lose, we’re right there with them: ‘What can we do to help?’ I think you actually work harder when you have some adversity. It’s easy when things are going right to pat yourself on the back.”
McGarity said he and Richt have not talked specifically about the future because they are focused on this season.
“If we get going about the future and things of that nature, then we’re getting off track,” McGarity said. “We’ll talk about that later. I am working with Mark Richt — I think our whole staff is — to help make this thing happen. I fully expect Mark to be with us for a while.”

The graduation rate for UGA football players is reason enough to keep Richt. But he’s a good coach and a great role model as well. Three or four plays get made or turnovers don’t get made this year and this is an 8-2 team. Some people just need to get a life.

Okay, so we have one third of the equation solved – the head coach (CMR) stays.
Now we have to take care of the other two thirds.
As for OC, well… Bobo needs to gogo.
Verdict is still out on our new DC, but I would not put money on the Grantham experiment working out. Need to go after Kirby Smart once Satan leaves Bama.

Look for Richt to move outside of the SEC, easier schedule, maybe a Michigan, Penn State, USC, UCLA, Notre Dame, in ACC you have Clemson, Miami, FSU, NC who’d all snap Richt up in a minute. If Richt wants to stay in SEC, looking at Ole Miss, Arkansas, or South Carolina.

Key phrase:
“I’d say, based on the first 10 games”
Each “fake endorsement” always has a condition attached, that leaves it ambiguous.
McGarity’s problem is this is NOT an endorsement of Richt.
McGarity is lost in the land of indecision, trying to play both sides.
Either Richt in the coach for the future, or he is not. Which is it?
McGarity’s biggesat weakness, his indecisiveness, has cost him one of the greatestest coaches in America, how foolish can you be?

There is a reason why Colorado is interested in coach Richt. Even though their team beat UGA this year, they obviously see attributes in Richt that they don’t see in other coaches. He brings a level of integrity that is unsurpassed. He has proven himself as the head coach during his 10 year tenure but the local AJC media seem to think that isn’t enough. It’s the what have you done for me lately mentality. Evidently, Colorado believes coach Richt has done enough.

I doubt Richt wants to leave Georgia, but I surely would not mind if he goes. He is a nice person but that is it, not a very good coach. A good Coach hires good people around him. Look at this game Georgia is moving the ball well on offense but the OC goes to wild cat and all fancy bulls**t. We can win this game if we stay solid.

Richt would probably be better off at Colorado. Colorado football fans aren’t as rabid about winning as SEC fans. See FL, Tenn, LSU, etc. When Richt goes, 2011,2012, McGarity better find someone who can compete against Myer and Saban consistantly or else his tenure at UGA might not be that long.

If we don’t have one of the worst, most overpaid, clueless DC’s in the history of the world, I don’t know who it is. Richt hired him which says something about Richt’s judgement. We have an awful coaching staff, and I for one am tired of being embarrassed and frustrated. This program has consistently gone downhill since Van Gorder left. All you Richt apologists need to get a clue. We have a team with no discipline on or off the field. I know Richt is a “nice guy” but at 3 million dollars a year, he needs to be winning some ballgames.

UGA director total idiot! Look for Bulldog season to be in toilet after second game in 2011. Disappointing losses like the one in Alabama will continue to pile up. No relief in sight as long as Mark Wretch and his clueless cronies are in charge. I strongly enourage all UGA alumi to close their pocketbooks as long as Wretch remains. Only coach worth keeping is defensive guy. I still have doubts about him. A halfway decent leader would have had his players pumped up when facing a No. 2 squad. Not Wretch! Mike Dodo continued to be among worst offensive coordinators of all time. Quick 21 points then same shet that cost Dawgs six defeats this year. Too damn many for Bulldog Nation. Tire to fire Wretch! Stop bleeding. Things will only get worse. That is the truth. Oh yeah cheaters do win. Proof can be found on Auburn University campus. Nauseating debacle by heartless Bulldogs. Completely unacceptable! STENDEK

Please, Please Richt take the Colorado job. Once again today — absolutely no imagination on offense. We get a lead — then Richt and Bobo start palying not to lose again. We should have had the foot on the gas wide open the whole game. Have we even run a single trick play the entire year. And what is up with our kick-off retuen team? Not ready for an on-side kick after the half — you learn that in highschool. Our kick returner looked timid on his returns — he should have downed them for a touchback. I used to think Auburn was a classy program. It is now evident under Chizek that he brings in thugs and encourages them to play dirty. He showed zero class during today’s game. He was congratulating his players after they delivered cheap shots. His program reminds me of Miami back in the day. Georgia should insist they will not play another game with those officials — they never controlled the game (the late hits on Murray) and then it got out of control late. Those refs should be suspended. It was totally apparent in the 1st quarter that Fairley was obsessed with trying to hurt Murray from the outset. Auburn has been bragging about knocking quarterbacks out of the game — they are a very dirty bunch. Normally I would pull for Auburn — not amymore. I hope they lose out the rest of the way. I’ll be laughing when what happened to USC and Reggie happens to Auburn and Cam — even if it is years later (can you spell “vacated”).

The big Auburn defensive guy going after the UGA QB’s legs was cheap. Aaron Murray is a freshman with alot of potential. But this is the type thuggery one can expect when you go after players from the hood that have no principles nor respect for the game. “Win any way you can”. And yes I know most teams have these type players. Even UGA and Tech. All I’m saying is I wish they would throw these guys out of football all together.

The only way AD’s fire coaches is when the fans stop buying tickets.. If u want Richt gone stop going to the games !!!! Until that time expect mediocrity from this program. Let’s face it, we’re on the bottom level of the SEC with Vandy, Tenn, and KY. This staff lacks the ability to coach and prepare players. We have the same talent as UF, ALA, and AUB, we just lack the quality coaching that those programs have brought in. Next’s year schedule is a cupcake, shouldnt be more than 1-2 losses with a decent coaching staff. As it stands right now unless there are significant changes made look for another underachieving 5 loss season.. Now time to put my Uga/Tech tickets on ebay, not driving 5 hours to watch us lose to a bad Tech team..

I just want to remind you all that Richt came here with great expectations. A real offensive genius from a national championship program. However, he looked shakey from the start. Poor clock management, disorganization on the sideline and numerous fourth down snafus. Then somewhere along the way someone convinced him that he was a CEO and he didn’t need to coach anymore.
Let’s be honest about what Richt is and what he isn’t. He is a nice guy, a lousy football team CEO, a pretty good OC, a lousy disciplinarian, no leader of poor young men, a very good recruiter, just an OK coach (when he wants to coach), not very smart, not a strategic thinker but most of all he is no championship grade head coach…and we will never have a national championship with him. So, from time to time UGA will make it into the top ten, maybe play for the SEC once every 10 years but we will never contend for the NC with Richt. Already great state talent is migrating elsewhere. If that makes you happy, then I could see why you want to keep Richt. Personally, I expect more.

Thankfully McGarity won’t use blog postings to rate his coaches. He’ll use his own eyes, ears and judgement. He has worked college athletics fulltime for a few decades, and knows his profession. My opinion is that no boss gives an employee a guaranteed job. He does guarantee that the employee’s evaluation will be done honestly, based on facts, and at the end of the process, the employee will most likely agree with the evaluation process and its fairness.
All of that said, if I was in McGarity’s position, I would be looking for Richt to return and coach the Dawgs next year. I would also expect that anyone wanting to tamper with my coaches would understand my intent to take any possible legal steps to stop them. If Colorado or anyone else wants to speak with my coach, they should recognize that he is under a long term contract, and they should be at least notifying me of their intent.
I would expect that Colorado would have done the right thing, and I also beleive Richt would have reported any such contact. Therefor, I don’t believe it happened.

Les Miles comes to LSU and wins a NC, Saben won one at LSU, left for the NFL, came back and WON one with Alabama. Myer came to Florida and won two NC, and now it looks as if Chizik will compete for one with Auburn. All of these coaches have played and won a NC during Richts’ tenure, here at UGA. Dawgs will be 8-3 at best next season, and there will still be more excuses for Richt. I’m sorry McGarrity, but the best you will get from a Richt coached team is 10-2. Don’t blame our guys for coming on the field. Also, good for Murray’s brother going after someone. That’s what brothers do and teamates do! Well, lakeland, if you think I don’t get it, then here is what our host Mr. Bradley of the AJC has to say about it all:
“The best you can say about Richt’s coaching is that his players didn’t quit when they fell behind. That’s surely because they’ve had so much practice: Georgia hasn’t led in any of its four SEC losses. South Carolina and Arkansas took the ball first and drove to touchdowns. Georgia took the ball against Mississippi State and went three-and0ut; on Saturday Murray threw an interception on the first snap.
We once considered Richt a splendid gameday coach, but that time is gone. Georgia was 52-13 in Richt’s first five season, reaching the SEC title game three times and winning it twice. It’s 42-19 since. Not coincidentally, Richt’s decline dovetails with Meyer’s rise. (Although it must be noted that Richt has a losing record against three Florida coaches: He was 0-1 against Steve Spurrier, 1-2 against Ron Zook.)
Back to Saturday: The Bulldogs got the ball to start overtime, which means the worst they should have done was gain no yards and let Blair Walsh try a 42-yard field goal to put them ahead. Instead Murray threw the ball into stacked coverage and saw the Gators nearly end the game without having to play offense. Murray has had a terrific freshman season and had a fabulous second half, but in the season’s biggest moment he made the one play a quarterback cannot make.
That’s what Georgia under Richt has come to do: It makes the one play to lose a game, as opposed to David Greene throwing to Verron Haynes in Knoxville or to Michael Johnson in Auburn. (Or even Matthew Stafford throwing to Mikey Henderson in Tuscaloosa.) Georgia under Richt has become the toothless tiger — the team everyone respects but nobody fears.
Richt’s 10-year body of work stands as a mighty argument for administrative patience. More current events suggest the Richt of 2010 isn’t the Richt of yesteryear. It took four full seasons under this coach and defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder for Georgia to lose 10 games. The Bulldogs lost five times last year, changed defensive coordinators and have already lost five times this.
And now Richt’s gifted Bulldogs have fallen to the worst Florida team Meyer has fielded. In a year where the SEC East was ripe for a young team to rise up and march to the Georgia Dome, that team will not be Mark Richt’s. He’s no longer a championship coach. Dating back to Nov. 29, 2008, his Bulldogs are 13-11, which means he’s barely even a winning coach.”
Well, there you have it, lake.

He hasn’t forgotten how to coach/recruit/discipline etc. This is the SEC! Not every decent “other” conference coach can handle what the SEC dishes out! Gonna take a special coach! Alot of teams play “marygoround” trying to get the NC.

Richt is a good coach, and we can’t realistically expect to go 10-2 every year. But the dogs have been in a decline for the last four years. They have to improve recruiting, maybe get those players that have been getting away to Tenn., Auburn, S. Car., or other SEC schools, and then coming to Athens to whip us.

Uncle Tom,
Georgia and Alabama should not have the same expectatations. Alabama is Alabama. It is the traditiional king of Southern football, more national titles than anybody except Notre Dame, more bowl wins and appearances than anyone, more 10 win seasons than anyone, and the winningest team ever in Southern football by a large margin. Also one of the truly elite national programs in college football- up there with the Michigans, Ohio States, USCs, Oklahomas, Notre Dames of the world.
Georgia is what it is. A good regional program that occassionally makes some noise. UGA had a glorious run from 1980-1982 and great seasons in 2002 and 2005 but that’s pretty much it. 5 years of great football and even then the 2002 and 2005 teams were a distant 3rd compared to the 2 unbeaten teams that played in the bcs title game in each of those 2 years- Ohio State going 14-0 and beating defending champ Miami on a 23 game winning streak and in 05 mighty USC with Leinart and Bush and Texas with Vince Young squaring off.

Mark Richt is a loser that has made the Geogria Bulldogs the laughing stock of the SEC. You apologists should be happy now as the Dogs are bottom feeders until further notice. They will lose to a Nesbitt-less GT also because we will be outcoached as usual. All for Richt’s obscene salary of $3M a year. Michael Adams should also be fired for that one. I hope you stupid redneck apoloogists are happy now. How did you like that onside kick today? Did it remind you of West Virginia’s fake punt which lost the Sugar Bowl for us because Richt did not have any practices over the holidays? Wise up. We are bottom dwellers until Richt is gone. CMR is not an elite SEC coach. His teams are perpetually long on talent, short on important wins. His departure to another school would be a great way for the both he and the school to both save face. Getting fired would be embarrassing to him, and as this message board shows UGA fans finds it hard to fire a nice guy. It easy to respect him as a person, but he clearly struggles with getting our teams to the next level of discipline, applitude of talent, and winning big games. CMR taking a job elsewhere could be a blessing to him and UGA.

I believe the term is “Fair Weather Fans”. There are some sorry UGA fans here on this blog. Do you really expect a team to be in the top ten every year and if not, it is all the coaches fault? UGA has been competitive all year long, even though the record doesn’t reflect it; Ask the teams they have played. You have a whole new defense installed, with maybe a few players to be recruited to play it. You have a first year starter at quarterback, who will probably be near the top of the SEC next year. You have a head coach, who has had terrific success in his time here, and most of you can only complain because we are not SEC champs. The one fault you might find in the UGA offensive play calling was that earlier in the year, we were too conservative, and did not realize what a special quarterback we really had. Next year I think UGA will be right in the hunt for the SEC title, and you do not need to change coaches when you have a top five head coach now. The defensive coach is terrific and brings a lot of fire to that side of the ball. Possibly, the only thing that needs to happen on the offensive side of the ball, is for the head coach to get involved a little more on that side, because he is a good offensive mind. Maybe, the play calling could include a few surprises and not be so vanilla, but we have got the players on board now to be successful next year. Quit acting like spoiled kids, with your childish remarks and stand by your team through thick and thin. Maybe you would prefer we be 11-0 and get the rep. as THUG U. I am darn proud of the UGA team this year and every year, and I am not a natural born Georgian, but a darn proud transplant.

“Dogs rule! We run this state!”
But the problem is you play in a conference. And the football gods do not care what state you rule, but what conference you rule.
And this morning South Carolina rules the SEC East.
Wait till next year. You have a wonderful QB returning, most of the OL and solid RB’s. The defense will be drastically improved after another spring practice.
Looks good the next two years until Murray goes pro. But then you have Nick Marshall coming in at QB and he will take the Heisman before he leaves.
So stop tearing up Dog fans.

Keeping Coach Richt is definitely the right thing to do. Everyone wants to get all freeked out because he has ONLY won 2 SEC Championships while giving us an opportunity to play for 3 and won NO National Championships in his first 10 years. Looking back at an Ex Georgia Coach who we’ve all but deified (as well we should) Vince Dooley…..he was 73-32-7 in his first 10 years….a 65.2% winning percentage…..won ONLY 2 SEC Championships but also had two 5-5 years. He also ONLY won 1 National Championship in 25 years!!! Coach Richt prior to this year was 90-27….a 76.9% winning percentage. Vince Dooley is recognized as the greatest coach to ever coach Georgia…but if he was coaching today…would he have survived HIS first 10 years??? Would he be given the chance to eventually win the National Championship in 1980??? Cool heads and even tempers guys…Coach Richt will right the ship….and at some time during HIS 25 year career at Georgia, he WILL also win a National Championship.

Sad about last night’s loss. Auburn beat us and that’s it. I was dis appointed about the game and the way it was officiated regarding lack of blatant roughting the passer calls But you know what “If the offensive line had really done their job this would this would not be a topic of conversation.
I really hope Coach Grantham can get this defense turned around. I cannot believe how the Auburn quarterback was able to run or stand in the pocket without pressure. This defense needs help and guidance and re-tooling. I do believe in Coach Grantham but that loss last night in my opinoun, was not so much Cam Newton as our defense could not compete when it mattered. That is something that must be addressed.
I hope our committments for 2011 stays with us and how players like (Crowell, Huggins) can see; how they can fit in with Murray,Green and company and be a star(s) at Georgia.
Once again, 2011 commits stay with Georgia and from a fan..thanks.

McGarity is the worst AD in the SEC, he needs to be fired immediately. I have yet to have anyone point out even 1 single positive thing McGarity has done in his first year that had a positive effect on the Georgia football team in 2010. Since he took over, Richt’s gone 5-6 for the first time in his career, recruits are staying away because they think Richt will be fired, other schools are being rumored to hire Richt, arrests are up at all-time high for the football team, really, McGarity has never come right out and said “Richt will be our coach in 2011 and beyond”. That’s the root of all the problems–hurts Richt, interests other schools in Richt, hurts recruiting, hurts morale on current team, etc. McGarity does not have a clue about hwo to lead others. He should be fired immediately or Georgia will lose a top 5 coach. Get McGarity out of here–he’s foolish.

If you can’t pull more than 5 wins a year out of the #5 winningest coach in the nation in college football, a guy who’s never won less than 8 games in over 2 dozen seasons as a coach, then you have no hope as a leader.
Without McGarity:
Richt never had a season with less than 8 wins in 2 dozen years of coaching
With McGarity for 1 year:
5-6, no chance at 8 wins

I think Richt would go to Colorado in a second as he knows UGA is no longer competitive in the SEC.
UGA should join the Big East where it can have 9 or 10 wins each season.

McGarity’s what we call in the game a “fence sitter” or a “train track” leader. You know his kind. They can’t decide. So they sit on the train track, hoping the train will not run over them while they try and decide which direction to go.

McGarity doesn’t know how to create confidence. By not supporting Richt publicly, the coaching staff, families, team, media, have all lost their swagger. Not playing with confidence this year. Because no one has confidence in their coach.

I’ve never seen a worst AD than McGarity this season. Everything you could do wrong, he has done. And the program, without Richt to lead it, will soon be like Tenn, who thought things would be so much better without Fulmer. So did SC, so did Ole Miss, so did Ark, so did Vandy, so did MSU, so did Auburn, all AD’s made a move to get their guy, and none have won a National Championship. Florida & Alabama & LSU did, no one else in the SEC has figured it out, it’s not as easy as it looks. Sometimes the problem ain’t the coach, it’s the AD.

No matter how much is made in the public eye (and in the media) about skill-position players, football games are still won and lost on the line of scrimmage, where it’s man on man.
Our D line continues to get beat play after play after play. We can’t make any penetration. We can’t get off blocks. I’m not sure how much of this is caused by scheme and preparedness and how much is simple ‘ability’

Who does this sound like:
“Yes, we absolutely support Coach Richt, and we EXPECT him to be coaching with Georgia for years. It’s only game 11, and we have 2 more to go, but based on play SO FAR, I’d say yes. We don’t discuss future until the end of the season. Richt knows I have his back, althought I’ve neve publicly supported him. On the other hand, we evaluate each season at the end of the year, and we’ll sit down with each coach after the season, and THEN we’ll decide on the future.”
Tomorrow, tommrow, we’ll decide, tomorrow, there’s always a day away.

Almost anyone with a job wants to keep it. Whether they want to stay is not the issue, it’s how good are you doing your job. It’s up to the boss to keep that person on their staff if they are doing their job, give them raises, keep the person doing a good job happy. It’s also the bosses job to replace that person if their not. You don’t fire a person for having 1 bad day (or year), but if the product that person is responsibile for is constantly subpar, you need to take the steps necessary to correct the problem.
It doesn’t matter if that person wants to stay or not. The question is will the boss accept your subpar work and be satisfied with declining profit?

If all you people are so displeased with the UGA football program and CMR, then why waste your time coming on here complaining about it, find another team, jump on the bandwagon, get a life, and use the internet for something more purposeful. All we do is watch the games, read comments and etc. There is alot more to college football than we know. Id like to see some of you people get out there and coach an actual D-1 football game, let alone a high school game. Do you really think that he doesnt want to win? Really? You ever think that there may be things that go on that doesnt get discussed with the public. There do come years of rebuilding. You can put a guy who cant run in man on man coverage, just an example not being literal. UGA footall is going to be fine. Aaron Murray WILL win an SEC championship before he leaves Maybe then all you people can come back from the bandwagon, have a little faith and stick by their sides. If you kid messes up and does several things wrong do you people disown them? Get a life grow up and respect this game and the guys who go out and make it possible for us to watch every Saturday. I never post comments this may be my 2nd-3rd ever. I will not be back to read any feedback that you people may choose to give on this so dont waste your time.

Serious Dawg fans need to start organizing and demanding that Richt be fired. Otherwise, sports writers will be asking the same question this time a year from now.
Richt represents mediocrity. Saban and Meyer represent excellence and championships. Richt simply isn’t in their class, nor will he ever be. Richt would have to be incredibly lucky to win the division, and the odds against him winning the SEC championship would be at least 50:1.
Those are the simple facts, and there’s no amount of enthusiasm or cheerleading or Top 5 recruiting classes that can get around it.
As they say in poker, “Read ‘em and weep.”

How long is it going to take for UGA fans to realize that UGA is simply no longer relevant in the SEC? In the national picture, UGA isn’t even a blip on the radar, and hasn’t been since the preseason #1 ranking two years ago.
Sit back and be grateful for the six or seven wins you’ll get every year. Coaching genius Mark Richt may take you to 8-4 or even 9-3 occasionally, but Another team will still win the SEC, meaning no BCS bowls and no top 10 final ranking. Most years, UGA will be very lucky to finish in the top 25, and only after a big bowl win over a nobody opponent.
It’s a different world now, and Dawg fans need to adjust their expectations downward to reflect reality.
Unfortunately nothing is going to change until UGA changes its mediocre coaching. That’s where the difference is, and that’s why everyone outside Dawgtard Nation just laughs at Dawg fans getting so excited year after year about what a great recruiting class UGA gets. It doesn’t matter how many blue chip high school players go to UGA, they simply don’t get the coaching they would get at Florida or Alabama, to name two schools whose programs are far ahead of UGA. And that’s not going to change as long as Mark Richt is in Athens.
Get your heads out of the sand and face reality. And mediocrity and irrelevance.

Great move by UGA to release this … no way to make someone appreciate what they already have than to have someone else want it. If this hadn’t come out, this blog would be full of “Richt’s got to go!” after the loss. Still, this didn’t sound like a ringing endorsement from McGarity. I think UGA would be crazy to get rid of him, and I don’t believe he will leave on his own, not even for Miami. But if he were going to leave, I think it would be for Miami and not Colorado.

I am UGA through and through. Will be buried that way. CMR is a great, great guy and a great role model for our kids. That is true. He is also a football coach at a major school in the greatest conference in the land. His shortcomings have gotten us here: loyalty, conservative coaching, lack of discipline. Bobo has to go. Let’s spend another $750,000 and get a real OC, one with an exciting playbook, one that will take the nation by storm given the talented players in this fine state. And we have to send a greater message to players who break the law. I think Grantham will be just fine. If CMR can pull the trigger on Bobo, I’d give him another year or two. If not, it will be clear that he is more loyal to the needs of Bobo’s five kids than to the needs of the program. He doesn’t get paid to be nice. He gets paid to win games. This ain’t high school anymore.

Our SEC record for the past two seasons is a miserable 7-11. I wish that was a convenience store but it tells you how competitive we are in our own conference. That is a 38% winning percentage folks. We were 4-4 last year which means we were an average SEC team at best. This year we are 3-5, a losing record, and a bottom feeder in the SEC. Is this what McGarity and Richt find acceptable? Foks this is not a one year phenomenon. We have been declining for the past two years. Without Green and Durham who will be the playmakers other than Murray next year? What do you think next year’s record will be? 5-3 in the SEC, and is that acceptable? 4-4 again like last year? Or maybe 3-5 like this year? Are any of those scenarios acceptable?

Football is supposed to be a game of sports fairness and fun, but that Auburn team this time was the worse for playing dirty I have ever seen, from the beginning Fairley tried to hurt our OB pick him up and slam him on the ground continued to try the whole game to put him out finally put his helmet into Murray’s knee,2 yrs and it still dont look good they have the talent but not the coaching they need there are a lot of good coaches and if we cant get a head coach we sure need a OC had them 21 to 7 and them comes the wild plays we have a QB dont try to copy what some other schools try taking out QB and putting running back or full back. instead of QB CMR is like Fulmer of tenn. he has lost it and may not be able to regain it for over three millions dollars I dont see why they could not get a coach, CMR is a good man but cannot change coaches until it is a must or else, other coaches can he should be able to also for the team’s sake, well we will see.

If you want to fire McGarity and CMR, you’re part of the problem.
McGarity has not been on the job “a year”; hired August 13th; give him time. He didn’t waffle. “…Greg McGarity said Saturday that he expects Mark Richt to remain the Bulldogs’ coach next season.
“Sure I do,” he said before the game against Auburn. “Absolutely.”….[there's] no question about that…”
What part of “absolutely” and “no question” do you not understand? How is that waffling? How is that not supporting CMR? “…has his bags packed…” How do yall dream up stuff like that? Bring in D. Dooley? You gotta be kidding.
I just hope recruits don’t read these comments/blogs. They’ll think UGA has no fan support. It’s bad enough that the writers think what’s said here is “rumblings from Dawg Nation”.

McGarity’s been off track since the day he got here. I can’t find 1 positive thing he’s done that helped the team this year, in 2010. He’s been lost in 2013, working on the 2013 schedule, while the football team has performed the worst, under his leadership, as it has in a decade. McGarity think if he withholds positive comments about how secure Richt’s future is, that will make Richt coach better. Is he right? No, Richt is 5-6, worst record in Richt’s 20+ seasons of coaching. McGarity is clueless about how to bring the best out of Mark Richt. Richt, and recruits, and players, and coaches, need a solid, no going back statement about how committed and certain McGarity is about Richt and the future with Richt, or else Richt needs to get out of town, and go where he is HONORED and let McGarity spin into a medicore freefall for 10 years.

I believe CMR is a class act and a fine football coach. I do admit that there are many issue that need to be addressed but come on fans. Look at the history of every NCAA program. Even that Greats had bad session. Jo Pa, Bear Bryant, B. Bowden. It comes around. CMR does need to evaluate the OC and OL coaches. Grantham has done a DESCENT job in converting to a 3-4. We need a big DT for it to work properly. I think one of the biggest things we need to look at is our strength and conditioning coaches. Our players don’t look solid like other teams in the SEC. I was front line for the UK game and even the kentucky players look more defined and didnt get winded as fast.

That’s almost blasphemy to use Richt’s name in the same sentence with Paterno, Bryant and Bowden. Those guys won National Championships. So has Meyer. Those guys deserve the benefit of the doubt.
Richt has had 10 years to show us where he can take the program. I think we have seen the peak and that was a few years ago. Richt won’t get us in the National Championship game, ever. Don’t think we will ever see a SEC Championship game again under Richt for that matter.

What really stings about Richt, is while he was OC at FSU he consistently beat
Florida. Georgia was getting their ass handed to them year in and year out
with only one victory in the entire decade (97).When Richt was hired, he was suppose to be the one to end the onslaught, instead in ten years he has two wins
against them. It seems that he come here and fell under the curse instead of
pulling us out of the funk. I mean even our two SEC championship years are marred with losses to Florida.

If anybody on here thinks Alabama, Florida, USC, LSU, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Auburn, the list goes on and on, that Richt would still be the coach after 10 years at any of these schools, you are completely insane.
He would not have lasted 5 years.
Colorado, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Maryland, Duke, maybe 10 at those schools.

Richt would be a nice fit at Michigan, Colorado, Tennessee, Miami, Texas A & M, Minnesota, the rumor is Georgia’s going after Harbaugh from Stanford, and Richt’s headed to either Colorado or Miami.

any good man withb a eye” for football can see that the ga d” just didnot give 100% sat., only solution is play a new bunch just like dooley did after 1979, bring and play freshman if they prove themself’s and only let coach richt go ifin he himself decides to transfer, otherwise its time to work 18 hours a day just like dooley staff did after 1979 horable season of 6-5 football. bad things are limited to bad players and bad coach’s none of which we have at uga. fla had bad season and next year the sec is surely up for grabs with professor newton headed for a truck load of money and allborn football head for 0and 12 / 2010 and a sure death penalty just like SMU and the eric dickerson situation. its all laugh’s at allburn today and in a couple of month it will be all tears and what just happened. ask paul finebomb yaaaaaaw, by by allllbuuurnnn 10 byears of proby yaaaaww

Word is Richt and McGarity are not friendly, Richt doesn’t really like McGarity and feels mcGarity has thrown him under the bus. Richt’s ready to go, and thinks McGarity is an amateur AD.

Richt found out, through a mutal friend, McGarity had in fact inquired about Harbaugh’s interest, this after telling Richt privately that Richt’s future at Georgia was solid. When Richt found out, he had his agent put out some feelers, and then Colorado, and others, came calling. This is getting ugly, Richt’s angry, and feels McGarity has been deceiving his family.

Tennessee is VERY interested in Richt, and Miami’s offering Richt the moon to come to Miami. Colorado wants him too, Richt has Colorado ties, but feels like it can’t afford him. Michigan is also very interested in Richt.

I don’t think Colorado is after him. It is wishful thinking by the more ignorant dog fans. You may want to send your defensive coordinator over there.

Nope, here’s what’s happening, read it from a good source.
Mack Brown is being ousted from Texas, but won’t announce it until Muschamp commits to Georgia. Then they bring in Richt to Texas.
It’s a done deal, they’re just waiting on Muschamp to pull the trigger.
