Auburn coach Gene Chizik had one thing he wanted to say unequivocally on the SEC coaches’ weekly conference call with the media today.
“Cameron Newton will be playing Saturday against the Georgia Bulldogs,” Chizik said, “and I want to get that off the table.”
Amid various reports of alleged improprieties in Newton’s recruitment and academic record, Chizik declined to answer questions about the matter, saying he would entertain only queries related to Saturday’s game.
Earlier on the conference call, Georgia coach Mark Richt said the Bulldogs are preparing to face Newton, Auburn’s Heisman Trophy-contending quarterback.
“We really haven’t tried to keep up with that at all,” Richt said of the controversy swirling around Newton. “I think it could be a distraction to us, so we’re keeping our blinders on and studying the film and getting the plan and making sure we’re prepared for him being the quarterback.
“As much as some people think it might could be a distraction to them, it could be a distraction to us if we’re ‘Is he in? Is he out?’ type of thing. We’re planning on him being in, and we’re preparing that way.”

Yes, the dream team seems to have slipped out of the target area. Richt stays or is gone the recruiting class looks to be poor. Last years results were bad on the field and for recruiting. As much as I love Georgia, if I had a son that could play big time college football, I’d tell him not to go and be coached by Richt. Fire RICHT1

I can’t believe the people that comment here are so stupid. Perhaps you all never attended a university, otherwise you would know of the federal law FERPA, which has been around since 1974. No one connected to a university can legally release ANY students’ academic records, including honesty code violations. The student has to personally sign his permission for his grades to be released in transcript form to a named source, plus the reason why he wants his grades released. Schools are terrified of treading over the line with this one, and never make exceptions, let alone for something petty like deformation of character. The one people that had access to Cam Newton’s academic record are the people at the registrars, which stated in article this week that they never released his records to anyone, as of course, that would be illegal.
Riddle me this: Dan Mullen was at Florida in 2007 coaching Newton when the accusations supposedly occurred. As coaching staff has signed permission to keep track of players’ grades, he would have known if his player went to the Academic Honesty Board. When Mullen moved to Mississippi State, why would he have recruited Newton so much if he knew how much of a probation risk he was? That’s because THAYER EVANS made up the bullcrap that’s been coming from the media’s bowel-movement hole for the past two weeks.
Evans has a shoddy past, including being fired from the New York Times for deformation of character of MacFarland, which was proven to not be true. He said the same thing in one tiny article two years ago about Auburn under Tubberville, which was regarded as garbage. He’s a terrible journalist, as most people at FOX are. He’s the one making up this stuff, and won’t stop because he’s in too deep to let go.

But this particular one has named sources who have “the goods” so to speak…Answer these questios….If all the things Thayer and the others are saying are lies, why aren’t they being sued for slander??? If either Cam or his dad were sleazy enough to try to get money on the side to come to one school, why would thier morals have changed so suddenly for Auburn? By no means am I proud of the off the field embarrassments UGA has endured in the past or present, nor do I excuse any of it. It is a sad state that we have so many kids in college sports with no morals or conscience and the mindset of “get all you can, however you can” But any school who thinks it can’t happen to them isn’t living in the real world.

Auburn has a championship program? When was the last time AU won an SEC title? UGA has won one since AU last did it. UGA 2005….AU…2004. UGA in 2002 also…AU none!
Auburn has a championship coach? Chizik 5-19 at Iowa St overall and only 2-14 in conference…including 0-8 before you hired him in his last conference record in 2008. He is 23-24…still under .500 despite being 10-0 now.
Mark Richt?…..95-32…no losing seasons ever! 2 SEC titles and 4 Eastern Division Titles. 7-2 in bowls…4 top 5 finishes in 10 years at UGA….5 NY Day Bowls (3 Sugar Bowls)… and 53-26 in SEC conference games. UGA has the conference’s best record overall in the past 10 years!
And now the ultimate answer to you harold….4 IN A ROW OVER AUBURN for CMR!!!!
Take that and smoke it! Next time find some facts…instead of your delusional empty statements!

To HerpDerp:
You obviously do not fully understand the business of college football. It is a business, it is about money, it is not about having “good” student athletes, or about helping them to become better people, it is pure and simple a business about making money. Dan Mullen worked with Newton at FLA, saw his potential, and no doubt recruited him. He knew of the character issues with Newton, and determined that winning, and making money was the most important thing (not faulting him here, as it is the same with all “successful” coaches) and determined it was worth the risk. Do you really think that all of these top teir players are good people, with squeaky clean records, come on! Alot of these guys have past issues, and all the major universities take the risk, because their competitors are doing the same, and no one wants to get left out!

Hmmm…you always have try and reason AGAINST how Auburn won over our opponents… they had a different QB, an injured Safety, we played at home, the wind was blowing the wrong direction, the rain came down only on our opponent’s side of the field, they ran out of Gatorade on the sideline and our opponenets fainted from dehydration. Yeah. That’s what I say. Dumb. Isn’t it. Get over it. The better team won fair and square, simple and clean.

Reggie Bush caused Auburn not to play for the BCS title in 2004. Now Auburn has its own Reggie Bush. Will it be worth it to lose the season over this one player. Apparently Auburn has known about something possibly being amiss since the first of the year. I remember the Auburn-Georgia game of 1994 when Auburn was winning big while in the midst of NCAA probation as a result of severe and egregious recruiting violations. There in the stands were numerous Auburn followers wearing tee shirts sporting “No Bowls, No TV, No Problem”. It would seem that pay for play is a thing of tradition on the Plain. Why am I not surprised?

I lived in Pensacola in the late 50s, as a middel school kid ( Clubbs MS) and they were embroiled in the recruiting of some PHS players and one did end up going after all to Auburn. It was all over town that scandal. I was best pals with one of the player’s lilttle brothers.
That continued into the 70s and the 80s. There was the Brent Fullwood thing, where Pat Dye allowed him to register for the Fall, then SKIP 100% of his CLASSES knowing that come the end of the year, he would declare and go pro. Same with that litle bitty James Brooks from Warner Robins, GA.
AU will destory UGA ( my alma mater ) then withinone or two years, we will learn that Chizk is knee deep in it and that AU is forfeting games. Such is the way that it is at the Plains.
Recall that D back scandal in the early to mid 90s between Bama and AU ??? That was proved to be scandalous with some $$$ AU supporter from Montgomery. None of this is new.

Everything coming out of Auburn is that they are confident that that he didn’t do anything wrong. The whole thing reminds me what was coming out of UGA about AJ Green earlier this season. Myself I hope he is cleared by game time not only for his sake but if UGA can somehow beat them (I have my doubts about that) there will be no excuses for AU.

But we Auburn fans, that stand by our team, not making up uneducated rumors about the Georgia Bulldogs, or LSU. Why? Because we respect the game. College Playoff Conundrum…
For those, like me, who believe the FCS Bowl Championship should go to a playoff format because it’s fairer, take a deep breath, it’s not. Right now, in the DII Playoff Super Region Format there’s a bevy of deserving schools that will be on the outside looking in and only God knows why?
For example: FVSU (8-2) lost to undefeated Albany St. (10-0) in the Fountain City Classic this weekend, are tied for 2nd in the SIAC and #23 in the DII AFCA Coaches Poll. Yet, are ranked #7 in DII Super Region 2 behind Morehouse (8-2).
Morehouse defeated FVSU early in the year, so they own the head-to-head, but they lost to Tuskegee (8-2) and Albany St. FVSU beat Tuskegee soundly and lost 12-7 to Albany for the SIAC championship. Morehouse lost soundly to Tuskegee and played Albany St. close as well. Morehouse is ranked #24 in the AFCA Coaches Poll behind FVSU, but #6 in the DII Super Region 2 ahead of FVSU.
Similarly, Winston-Salem State, Shaw and St. Augustine are all 8-2 in the CIAA and ranked #6 or worse in the DII Super Region 1.
As it currently stands, from this group, only Albany St., Shaw and Morehouse will make the DII Playoffs while other 8-2 teams: St. Augustine, Winston-Salem, Tuskegee and poor FVSU will sit home and watch while 6-3 teams continue to play.
Somethings not right here. Even Sheridan Broadcasting Networks Black College Poll did not even rank FVSU after its loss to Albany or did it receive any votes whatsoever. What’s the logic here? If you lose to the undefeated champion, you fall out of the poll completely, while other teams with the same or worse record remain?

(Regarding Cam and all things SEC)
Highly likely: nothing regarding the allegations will be determined for many months – long after the press has died down and the SECC & NC is decided. Even if AU did something illegal, there’s no way they’d be stupid about it. There may have been a suitcase of bills, but no easy-to-follow paper trail. It will take months of investigating to figure it out. IF money was given to Cecil’s church, imagine how hard it would be to determine tithes from laundered money over an elongated period. Simply put – it is not simple. Regardless of whether or not Auburn has done something wrong, Georgia and Alabama, FL or SC will face Newton in games in the next 24 days. Good luck against the beast.
Highly unlikely: Georgia wins or even comes close at Jordan-Hare. I follow the Dawgs closely and even with Green, they don’t have the team this year to match Auburn. Alabama will be a tough team to beat and the true test for the BCS title. If Auburn meets Florida in the SECC, we stomp the Gators silly. If it is SC, they will play us tough again – no doubt. Lattimore is a beast himself (and only a freshman).
2024 articles about Newton on Google News. Really??? Seriously?

Newton, the whole team? Are you seriously that stupid? I suppose he blocks himself, opening holes as he runs the ball? Or maybe, when he bombs down field, he also runs down there and catches it for a touchdown? Maybe he also plays defense, and intercepts the balls? Grabs fumbles, and runs them back? Breaks your quarterbacks in half too? I suppose he also kicks our field goals, and defends himself in the pocket? Nah. We have a team. And, to your slanderous remarks of Auburn graduates. Auburn creates some of the greatest scientists in the world. Fact. As for the cheating accusations. Judging by the Bulldog spelling capabilities, perhaps many of you should have made some other decisions. You’ve cheated before. Stop acting mighty. For as long as I can recall, Auburn has been bashed by you losers, for one reason or another. None of these claims were made, til your players started whining about getting run over. We kick your door down, and you cry like babies. You WANT the man out of this game. Cause you losers can’t win if he’s there. Little advice. Get some education, before you try to spell words out of your league. Which isn’t hard with a Georgia education. Secondly. Stop hating. It’s rather pathetic the time and effort you people spend on Auburn. Don’t get me wrong, the attention is awesome. It’s ok. We’ll let you convert when you’re ready. Anyways. I’d love to stay and chat, but I seek more meaningful conversation, with more intelligent people. Oh, and boon dock kiddies. If this language confuses you, and you need it toned down to your feeble level, just take your hand: Work with me. Listen. Turn your hand around, and flip yourself the bird. Yay. You did it. Okay, he is not your WHOLE team, (you are Auburn so I understand your anal interpretation) (by the way you are not free of grammatical errors either)
But he IS what makes Auburn the team it is. Without Newton, you are a MSU or KY at best. Newton is Vick with 5 more on the Wunderlich.
By the way, I think Auburn is a great school. I would love for my boys to go there. Great atmosphere and academics. I am not kidding here. I like the small town college environment. Kind of like Clemson.
Anyway, here is my nightmare scenario for the SEC (I am a Gator but I also have a brain unlike a bulldog.
Auburn wins out WITH Newton. Then goes to Atlanta. In the interim Newton gets the axe.
UF beats USC and goes to ATL. (Now I am a Gator, so accept that I am being honest) UF can probably beat Auburn w/o Newton. So UF wins.
It will be (arguably) the worst team to have ever won the SEC. I can only hope that they are improved enough to not embarrass themselves in a bowl.
I hate to say that but it COULD happen.

I Do not believe that these allegations are true, although i have to say this, for all you rednecks and haters, hating on cam newton because he showed out beating LSU, ARKANSAS, S.CAROLINA, and KENTUCKY do not entertain this query. Then if you will STOP aiming at Cam because what You people really need to be focusing on is How they got in his background information, because there are Laws out there that say you Are NOT suppose to leak into his private records, so on be hath of that Cecil Newton will be sewing somebodies butt off. Then re-trace the ball please because it came from somewhere. and i know that Dan Mullen has something to do with all this because 1st he thought he had Cam and turned out parents said Auburn. Ok so i am so sure that Dan Mullen had something to do with this. And lets not forget Urban Myer because he may be throwing out additional information that is not needed to hide his case that he gave a good 2nd String QB at that time away. So personal i am really blaming anyone but i have a very STRONG feeling that those 2 coaches started this. And the big ? is “Why now” if it happened 2 years ago when Auburn wasn’t 10-0 . .when auburn wasn’t undefeated! That’s my comment

I cashed in (excuse the pun) the season after the Colorado game. At this point I would like to see what we have built since then in prep for 2011. I was really looking forward to going against a full strength #2 team. I hate to sound like the next year kind of person but thats what I was thinking all along with a new D scheme and a unproven QB. Letstats Prince: I think your “intelligent” language is toned down just fine. My four year old understood it perfectly.

I like to say just 2 things. One, we let that Auburn play dirty all day long. And our coaches are too stupid to complain. Two, as usual our D is not stopping any one. Well, too complicate the new D ha? If it is too complicate don’t use it. I just get sick when the other team is chunking on ours at will. Last one, we play good both run and pass but no continuity this due to Bobo want to show off his “variety of play callings”. Lots of losers fan always has all the excuses but not me. Good bye.

Typical Auburn win, let the refs do it for you and take dirty shots at the QB…Shows what kind of class Auburn is. Not to mention the Head Coach when he lets the dirty player continue to play. I hope the SEC and the NCAA comes down hard on Auburn and it’s dirty/Illegal players.

WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t see you Bulldogs running your muzzles tonight. You got slapped around in more than one way tonight. You losers sit in your corners, and chew your bone. You aren’t on the level of the Tigers. No bowl games for you. And no thumb either. You have a 1 1/2 hour drive to the house. Plenty of time to re-evaluate your ignorance. Let’s hear some of your little snappy comebacks. I love reading how under-educated you people are. We win, you lose. You are no different than bama fans. Consistently going into the past, when faced with the present. “Oh, we did this. And we did that.” Today is what was in question, idiots. Guess what? It’s no longer in question. Get some education, and some common sense. Cam is going nowhere. He will be running you over next year also. WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!! Peace losers.

To: LestatsPrince, Auburn Kitties or Pigeons…your choice…Do you remember 2004? 2004? Remember it well, it will repeat in 2010. Forfeit all games when an ineligible player plays. Also, don’t forget you WILL lose to Alabama AND lose the SEC Championship for bonus.

All I have to say is the Dawgs played a really good game. Young defense that had their handsful with team Newton. Really that guy is sick. You gotta give it to the guy he’s a good freakin ball player. Go Dawgs

Richie… I agree. I take nothing from Georgia. Always a favorite of mine to watch. Oldest rivalry in the south. It’s the ignorant fans, like Dawgfan above, that I speak to. Slanderous ignorance at it’s best. Awesome game, and look forward to it next year. Nationals, here we come. WAR EAGLE!!!!!
