Auburn coach Gene Chizik had one thing he wanted to say unequivocally on the SEC coaches’ weekly conference call with the media today.
“Cameron Newton will be playing Saturday against the Georgia Bulldogs,” Chizik said, “and I want to get that off the table.”
Amid various reports of alleged improprieties in Newton’s recruitment and academic record, Chizik declined to answer questions about the matter, saying he would entertain only queries related to Saturday’s game.
Earlier on the conference call, Georgia coach Mark Richt said the Bulldogs are preparing to face Newton, Auburn’s Heisman Trophy-contending quarterback.
“We really haven’t tried to keep up with that at all,” Richt said of the controversy swirling around Newton. “I think it could be a distraction to us, so we’re keeping our blinders on and studying the film and getting the plan and making sure we’re prepared for him being the quarterback.
“As much as some people think it might could be a distraction to them, it could be a distraction to us if we’re ‘Is he in? Is he out?’ type of thing. We’re planning on him being in, and we’re preparing that way.”

What’s really funny is seeing the thUGA fans (who have had 11 players arrested in about 8 months) going nuts over Cameron Newton’s sins.
Funny stuff, indeed.

I just hate to see this happen…..to anybody or team in the SEC. The truth will come out and the only thing it will hurt is the SEC. I love my Dawgs and would rather see them beat Auburn with him playing. Now just imagine Boise State and TCU playing for the National Championship cause if all this goes down thats what we will get…..

Wait till it’s all said and done. Cam Newton will be sitting at home crying to his daddy and Auburn will get canned by the NCAA before the bowl game and look for more penalties and probations in the coming future.
Auburn is the most crooked school in the NCAA and will get their hands caught in the cookie jar AGAIN…..Hahahaha Cheater never win.

Everything coming out of Auburn is that they are confident that that he didn’t do anything wrong. The whole thing reminds me what was coming out of UGA about AJ Green earlier this season. Myself I hope he is cleared by game time not only for his sake but if UGA can somehow beat them (I have my doubts about that) there will be no excuses for AU.

Chizik’s no fool. He’s at least had the decency not to declare himself a football genius, considering where Auburn is contrasted to where we all thought they’d be. But unless someone has pictures, cashed checks, or a signed confession, Cam ain’t going anywhere except under center.

Why are UGA fans so crazed about whether Newton will play or not? It seems like you guys would rather play a team at it’s weakest instead of at it’s best. Have some pride UGA fans. You are making yourself look like scared little kids. I’m not a GT, Auburn, FL or Miss St. fan…However, UGA is a storied program with a rich tradition. You should hope that Newton is in this game so that you can take a crack at Auburn at it’s finest.

Cam is not suspended. Pay attention kid. Every time Auburn turns up a team of championship values, you haters decide to come out with some bogus rumors, and truly display the depth of your ignorance. But we Auburn fans, that stand by our team, not making up uneducated rumors about the Georgia Bulldogs, or LSU. Why? Because we respect the game. You people have so little intelligence, that bashing football teams seems to be how you spend your pathetic lives. Grow up. Auburn is having a good season, and legitimately. So stop crying ladies, and prepare for Saturday. The Tigers are coming. The WHOLE team. Not just Cam. WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

College Playoff Conundrum…
For those, like me, who believe the FCS Bowl Championship should go to a playoff format because it’s fairer, take a deep breath, it’s not. Right now, in the DII Playoff Super Region Format there’s a bevy of deserving schools that will be on the outside looking in and only God knows why?
For example: FVSU (8-2) lost to undefeated Albany St. (10-0) in the Fountain City Classic this weekend, are tied for 2nd in the SIAC and #23 in the DII AFCA Coaches Poll. Yet, are ranked #7 in DII Super Region 2 behind Morehouse (8-2).
Morehouse defeated FVSU early in the year, so they own the head-to-head, but they lost to Tuskegee (8-2) and Albany St. FVSU beat Tuskegee soundly and lost 12-7 to Albany for the SIAC championship. Morehouse lost soundly to Tuskegee and played Albany St. close as well. Morehouse is ranked #24 in the AFCA Coaches Poll behind FVSU, but #6 in the DII Super Region 2 ahead of FVSU.
Similarly, Winston-Salem State, Shaw and St. Augustine are all 8-2 in the CIAA and ranked #6 or worse in the DII Super Region 1.
As it currently stands, from this group, only Albany St., Shaw and Morehouse will make the DII Playoffs while other 8-2 teams: St. Augustine, Winston-Salem, Tuskegee and poor FVSU will sit home and watch while 6-3 teams continue to play.
Somethings not right here. Even Sheridan Broadcasting Networks Black College Poll did not even rank FVSU after its loss to Albany or did it receive any votes whatsoever. What’s the logic here? If you lose to the undefeated champion, you fall out of the poll completely, while other teams with the same or worse record remain?

This is a diplomatic no-win situation for UGA.
–If Newton Plays and Auburn wins, it will be “only because Auburn plays thugs”
–If Newton dose not play and UGA wins it will be “because UGA can’t do it without taking out their best player”
–If Newton plays and UGA wins it will be “because Auburn was distracted all week with unreasonable outside distraction”
–If Newton does not pay and Auburn wins……well, I just don’t want to have to defend THAT one. He IS their whole team.

Andy – you are right. There is so much corruption in the NCAA when it comes to football and basketball, nobody should be shocked by anything. The bottom line is that the NCAA doesn’t have the backbone or guts to do anything about it. SMU got the death penalty, there are plenty more that needs to get it to wake them up.

Chizik can say whatever he wants, but he will not determine if Cam plays or not. The Feds are on the case now, and they don’t play around. You can lie to the press, SEC, NCAA all you want, but when the FBI is involved they will send you to Federal Prison.
I am a UGA grad, but I hate this for Cam, Auburn and the SEC. It makes everyone look bad. I hope it is all wrong, but if not I can see the “death penalty” for Auburn.

(Regarding Cam and all things SEC)
Highly likely: nothing regarding the allegations will be determined for many months – long after the press has died down and the SECC & NC is decided. Even if AU did something illegal, there’s no way they’d be stupid about it. There may have been a suitcase of bills, but no easy-to-follow paper trail. It will take months of investigating to figure it out. IF money was given to Cecil’s church, imagine how hard it would be to determine tithes from laundered money over an elongated period. Simply put – it is not simple. Regardless of whether or not Auburn has done something wrong, Georgia and Alabama, FL or SC will face Newton in games in the next 24 days. Good luck against the beast.
Highly unlikely: Georgia wins or even comes close at Jordan-Hare. I follow the Dawgs closely and even with Green, they don’t have the team this year to match Auburn. Alabama will be a tough team to beat and the true test for the BCS title. If Auburn meets Florida in the SECC, we stomp the Gators silly. If it is SC, they will play us tough again – no doubt. Lattimore is a beast himself (and only a freshman).
2024 articles about Newton on Google News. Really??? Seriously?
Auburn wins a close one against the Ducks in Glendale.
Nothing regarding the Cam Newton allegations are determined any time soon, so get ready GA – your time is nigh.

Newton, the whole team? Are you seriously that stupid? I suppose he blocks himself, opening holes as he runs the ball? Or maybe, when he bombs down field, he also runs down there and catches it for a touchdown? Maybe he also plays defense, and intercepts the balls? Grabs fumbles, and runs them back? Breaks your quarterbacks in half too? I suppose he also kicks our field goals, and defends himself in the pocket? Nah. We have a team. And, to your slanderous remarks of Auburn graduates. Auburn creates some of the greatest scientists in the world. Fact. As for the cheating accusations. Judging by the Bulldog spelling capabilities, perhaps many of you should have made some other decisions. You’ve cheated before. Stop acting mighty. For as long as I can recall, Auburn has been bashed by you losers, for one reason or another. None of these claims were made, til your players started whining about getting run over. We kick your door down, and you cry like babies. You WANT the man out of this game. Cause you losers can’t win if he’s there. Little advice. Get some education, before you try to spell words out of your league. Which isn’t hard with a Georgia education. Secondly. Stop hating. It’s rather pathetic the time and effort you people spend on Auburn. Don’t get me wrong, the attention is awesome. It’s ok. We’ll let you convert when you’re ready. Anyways. I’d love to stay and chat, but I seek more meaningful conversation, with more intelligent people. Oh, and boon dock kiddies. If this language confuses you, and you need it toned down to your feeble level, just take your hand: Work with me. Listen. Turn your hand around, and flip yourself the bird. Yay. You did it. Okay, he is not your WHOLE team, (you are Auburn so I understand your anal interpretation) (by the way you are not free of grammatical errors either)
But he IS what makes Auburn the team it is. Without Newton, you are a MSU or KY at best. Newton is Vick with 5 more on the Wunderlich.
By the way, I think Auburn is a great school. I would love for my boys to go there. Great atmosphere and academics. I am not kidding here. I like the small town college environment. Kind of like Clemson.
Anyway, here is my nightmare scenario for the SEC (I am a Gator but I also have a brain unlike a bulldog.
Auburn wins out WITH Newton. Then goes to Atlanta. In the interim Newton gets the axe.
UF beats USC and goes to ATL. (Now I am a Gator, so accept that I am being honest) UF can probably beat Auburn w/o Newton. So UF wins.
It will be (arguably) the worst team to have ever won the SEC. I can only hope that they are improved enough to not embarrass themselves in a bowl.
I hate to say that but it COULD happen.

I Do not believe that these allegations are true, although i have to say this, for all you rednecks and haters, hating on cam newton because he showed out beating LSU, ARKANSAS, S.CAROLINA, and KENTUCKY do not entertain this query. Then if you will STOP aiming at Cam because what You people really need to be focusing on is How they got in his background information, because there are Laws out there that say you Are NOT suppose to leak into his private records, so on be hath of that Cecil Newton will be sewing somebodies butt off. Then re-trace the ball please because it came from somewhere. and i know that Dan Mullen has something to do with all this because 1st he thought he had Cam and turned out parents said Auburn. Ok so i am so sure that Dan Mullen had something to do with this. And lets not forget Urban Myer because he may be throwing out additional information that is not needed to hide his case that he gave a good 2nd String QB at that time away. So personal i am really blaming anyone but i have a very STRONG feeling that those 2 coaches started this. And the big ? is “Why now” if it happened 2 years ago when Auburn wasn’t 10-0 . .when auburn wasn’t undefeated! That’s my comment

Kudos Tim. You’ve got a real $hi+ storm going with this blog tonight. I feel bad for our SEC this year. Looks to me like somebody is really going after us all. I guess they’re tired of the SEC’s dominance.
I cashed in (excuse the pun) the season after the Colorado game. At this point I would like to see what we have built since then in prep for 2011. I was really looking forward to going against a full strength #2 team. I hate to sound like the next year kind of person but thats what I was thinking all along with a new D scheme and a unproven QB. I’m still faithful that CMR and TG can bring back the old Bulldog attitude. Remember the days when we weren’t afraid of anybody?

That’s a dumb statement, of course he is playing if you have to forfeit all the other games what is the difference. His main problem is poor judgment and character issues. Hope he can learn from it. Auburn is a poor place to learn anything about character. The are the bottom of the SEC in quality people, but I am just going by facts in history. They may change tomorrow.

Does anyone out there seriously believe Cam & family did not shop him around and walk away with some money? Please. Auburn obviously figures they go for broke here – if they win out and go to a National Championship game, it was worth the risk of Newton playing. If he took money, they will lose the season wins anyway, so why not dig your heels in, play him, and hope nothing can be proven?
