It isn’t the bitterest of Georgia’s football rivalries. Just the oldest and most competitive.
Georgia and Auburn first played in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park in 1892. They have played 113 times since then. Auburn has won 53. Georgia has won 52. They have tied eight.
So, if Georgia were to win this year’s meeting at Auburn on Saturday, the Deep South’s oldest college-football rivalry would pull completely even at 53-53-8.
After all these games, all these years, only 56 points separate the teams. Georgia has scored 1,778 and Auburn 1,722. The average score in their meetings is 15.7-15.2.
“I think that as we go on during the week the younger guys will get a better picture of what this rivalry is and has been over the years and what it’s meant,” Auburn coach Gene Chizik said Sunday. “It’s just a great rivalry. It’s what college football is all about.”
At 113 games, the Georgia-Auburn series is older than Georgia-Georgia Tech (102 games) and Auburn-Alabama (74 games).
Georgia has won the past four meetings, the Bulldogs’ longest winning streak in the series since the 1940s. As Chizik mentioned Sunday, no current Auburn player has experienced a win over Georgia.
Over the years, it has been a curious series in that the road team has won more often than the home team. Georgia has an all-time record of 14-9-2 in games played at Auburn, while the Tigers have an 18-11 record in Athens. The series was mostly played at neutral sites from 1892 through 1958.
Another quirk in the Georgia-Auburn series in recent years is that the lower-ranked team has found disproportionate success. Neither team was ranked entering last year’s game, but the lower-ranked or unranked team has won seven of the past 13 meetings when one or both teams were ranked. As you know, Auburn will go into Saturday’s game ranked No. 2 in the nation and Georgia unranked. In the last meeting of a ranked Auburn vs. an unranked Georgia, the Bulldogs upset the No. 5 Tigers 37-15 in 2006 at Auburn.

Expect the Tigers to cruise here. This team looks past no one, leaves no man behind and takes no prisoners.I sure hope you guys bring it this year, or it could get out of hand. I’m not even talking trash: this is the truth. You can’t under estimate Auburn just because you’ve won the last 4 meetings and the away team dominates this series. This is not just another season. Anyone standing in the way of this team will be destroyed.

You know who Loses to Kansas? COLORADO….. yea, the same Colorado who beat UGA.
So to lay out the complete picture…. UGA loses to Colorado who loses to Kansas who loses to an FCS school.
Based on your post, I also get the feeling you would lose to a 3rd grader in a spelling contest. Did you go to UGA?

We will beat Tech. Their quarterback (Nesbitt) is out for the year after breaking his arm Thursday and he is the guy that has hurt us lately. If it weren’t for us hurting his knee last year an knocking him out of part of the game, I am afraid Tech would have beaten us again last year.
Nevertheless, we should win that game this year and that will make us bowl eligibel (Even if we lose to Awww-Burn).

I think Auburn wins 55-30.
Neither can stop the other and we give up huge chuncks of yardage so this may cement the Heisman for Cam. That is if the outside stuff doesn’t bite him.
Would love a Georgia Victory but too many things against us.

The only hope we have is if Cam is distracted or pulled from the game from all the allegations. Doesn’t seem possible.
Cam is an impact player that makes plays. We have a great record this year of giving up huge plays. Wheel routes, blown coverages, 3rd and 19 conversions. Could get ugggglllllyyyyy.
That is why we needed the Fla win.

I dont see how anyone could put a guess of the score on this game…..even vegas. No matter what the two teams are ranked its always going to be close. I mean over 118 years of this game you even see the stats Auburn with only 1 more win than GA and the points are 15.7-15.2 are you kidding me. People really wanna call this a blowout. I wouldnt be suprised if GA won this game and I dont think a lot of other people would either. ITS AUBURN AND GEORGIA PEOPLE. This isnt going to be a blowout. Its coming down the the last posession like it always does.

I love to see the team spirit with Dawg Nation but seriously folks, does anyone really believe that our team will suddenly transform into a top 10 team by Saturday? Our record doesn’t point to that happen and we don’t have AJG coming back as an added boost. AM and AJG are our only serious playmakers so they had better connect early and often to make this a game. Given CMB’s penchant for obtuse play calling I doubt that AJG is fully utilized.

Looking at the games against common opponents, the only Auburn win by more than 7 points was 65-43 over Arkansas. And for uncommon opponents, Auburn beat Clemson by 3 in OT. That should be taken into consideration.
However, I have to pull for the Tigers in this one. They still owe me some satisfaction for the thousands of dollars I spent over 2 years for my daughter to attend a sorority there many years ago. I paid for tuition, too but the results of any academic progress have been a well-kept secret.
Lets be logical....

UGA might lose this game due to playcalling. I honestly believe they will lose to Georgia Tech because we have not faced a flexbone team with our new defense. With all of the moverment and misdirection in the back field it might confuse our defense.

Why all the fuss? Cam Newton is a criminal and will be suspended by the NCAA. All games that he started will be forfeited. UGA wins by 10 anyway. UGA has superior defense, kicking game and real good offense. UGA can match Au TD for TD but the kicking game is all UGA. Look for the defense to stand up and smash AU in the mouth.UGA is a top 10 team that has not shined all year. They are due and this week could easily be the time.

Auburn can be beat. Their defense is garbage. One of the worst I have seen for a top team. LSU held them to 24 points so they can be held down. We will be one of the more balanced teams they have faced so far. LSU had a solid defense but bad offense and Arkansas had a great offense but a horrible defense. Turnovers kill Georgia “see the Florida game”. Keys to beating Auburn is winning turnover battle and running the football. Georgia needs to have drives like Matt Ryan and the Falcons had against Tampa Bay. Eight to ten minute drives. Newton can’t beat you with a clip board in his hand. I know people will think I’m crazy but I really feel Georgia will win this game 35-31. A.J. Green will have a 150yds receiving and 2tds and Murray will learn from past mistakes by putting together a complete game.
