Game time, TV set for Georgia-Auburn

Georgia’s Nov. 13 football game at Auburn will kick off at 3:30 p.m. and be nationally televised on CBS, the network said today.

Georgia has won its past four games against Auburn, but the Tigers, led by Heisman Trophy-contending quarterback Cam Newton, are 9-0 and ranked No. 2 in this week’s BCS standings. Georgia is 4-5.

Auburn’s ranking and record are obviously attractive to CBS. The network, which has the top choice of SEC games each week, chose Auburn-Georgia over the Nov. 13 South Carolina-Florida game, which figures to be for the East’s berth in the SEC championship game.  South Carolina-Florida will start at 7:15 p.m. on either ESPN or ESPN2.

Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson will call Georgia-Auburn for CBS, along with sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson.

The game will be Georgia’s second of the season in the 3:30 p.m. ET window on CBS. The first was last Saturday’s 34-31 overtime loss to Florida in Jacksonville.

Both Georgia and Auburn play FCS (formerly Division I-AA) opponents this week — Idaho State and Chattanooga, respectively.

The Georgia-Auburn series is the most-played — and perhaps most competitive — in SEC history. The teams have played 113 times, with Auburn leading the series 53-52-8.

It’s going to be a good game regardless. When AU and UGA play each other you can throw the records out the door, just like when we play Bama during the Iron Bowl.

However, if you contain Cam, it opens up the passing lanes. One one one and Cam runs it up the middle, try to contain cam and cover the receivers and the back have a hayday. Sorry UGA, this is Auburn’s year.

UGA gave up over 200 yards rushing to an average Florida rushing attack. Auburn will have that in the first half and Cam will have 90% of that. Look for this game to be lopsided. Mark Richt does not care anymore. I believe he will resign at the end of the season.

Great, another game with Verne Lundquist. This guy is one of the most anit-Georgia commentators out there. I had to mute the TV during the first half Saturday because of his blatant bias. I can’t stand it when a national broadcast commentator chooses sides.

All of the schizophrenic (War Eagle? Plainsmen? Tigers?) better be careful what you wish for. When you are a debatable #1 and you’re playing a pretty talented team with nothing to lose but something to prove, you might be surprised. I’ve coached at the II level and I see a Georgia team getting battle hardened and stronger and an Auburn team that is good but static in its development at the top of the heap.

Vern lundquist is the Worst Announcer that could possibly on TV College football. He certainly is not a UGA fan. The camera work in the Fla. game was horrible and totally Gators. I think that I saw UGA once, the band not at all nor the cheerleaders. I cannot believe we will have to suffer through this game with this announcer.
Go, Dawgs!!!!!
Also, whoever the blogger is who is using a Religious name and trashing Richt, get off this blog!!!!!

The Dawgs have a head start on defensive preparations.
Instead of seeing Trey Burton @ 6′2″, 220 on the inside run from the spread they get to peek at Cam newton @6′6″, 250 on that run…uniform colors almost the same. Prep should be easy.
I’m sure Todd Grantham plans to rent a D Cat 9 to park somewhere in the interior line to give our little 3 down linemen a chance.

Gary Danielson spent a lot of time pointing out how disappointed A.J. was because he didn’t get the ball. A.J would have a lot more catches if he hadn’t missed the first 4 games. He made a mistake. He has been forgiven. I don’t think anyone should feel sorry for him.

I love hearing people say Auburn is a one-man team.

Auburn’s THIRD leading rusher has 557 yards this season. Georgia’s LEADING rusher has 563.

Auburn has nine guys with receptions over 20 yards long.

Oh yeah – Auburn has one of the leaders in the nation in sacks and tackles for loss.

Oh yeah – LSU allowed 217 rushing yards to Cameron Newton, but we had other guys run for 223 in that game.

Oh yeah – Ole Miss decided to stuff the Newton rushing game. He only got 45 yards; the rest of the team ran for 300.

You keep overlooking Dyer, McCalebb, Adams, Zachery, Blake and the rest of the boys on offense – Auburn will blow the doors off of that game.

CMR gets an earned pass for this season so he coaches next year. Personally, I think he is finished. I don’t like him anymore as a HC. Too slow to do what everybody in the Dog Nation knows he should do. Too much off-field mess going on. Good coaches get more out of players than this bunch gets. We have to wait one more year to see if he can get another OC and staff and turn it around with a good QB. He has got to get rid of recruiting coaches though in order to get some players that we need. And as I see it, we need some wide-receivers and running backs. But if I had a kid who was a wide receiver – I would not advise him to go to GA. Last Sat AJ had only 12 yards with 6 min left in the game. Nah- my son would not go to GA – not with this OC. Change the OC and maybe we have a chance.

The only thing worse than watching UGA get blown out by Auburn, is having to watch it over 4+ hours on CBS and listening to the Cam Newton love-fest (see LSU-Auburn telecast) between Danielson and the three-chinned troll who can’t remember players’names and misses as many calls as CBS takes commercial breaks.

Open letter to Jesse Palmer …

Thank you for saying that Auburn isn’t all that good. You said that Auburn barely beat South Carolina; barely beat Kentucky; barely beat Clemson, gave up 31 to Ole Miss and barely beat what you describe as a highly overrated LSU team.

LSU overrated? They have but one close road loss in the SEC. And we’re into November. Gave up 31 to Ole Miss? Yes, but does it matter that 14 of them came when the game was completely over? Barely beat South Carolina? Yup. Ask Alabama if they would take a close win over South Carolina right now. Barely beat Kentucky? Yup. Ask South Carolina if they would take a close win over Kentucky right now.

Maybe you can’t understand it through all of the mousse and hairspray, but you have just given Auburn some great motivational tools. All the coaches have to do is play your “analysis” for them over and over for the next few weeks and they’ll do nothing but get stronger and better for each game, so that they can prove that this team is for real and ready to play UGA, Alabama and whomever else they may face.

Thank you, Bachelor.

Watch the Auburn – Arkansas game and you’ll hear how much those two hated Auburn that day. They’re basically a modern day version of the two judges from the muppets. They sit up high and make fun of everything they see, because they really can’t understand any of it.

The only way Ga. will ever beat Fla. will be when Meyer retires or Richt retires or if we can end up having another Hershel Walker type player who takes the game on himself and just dominates Fla. and has a big day. Then we might break the jinx Fla. has on us and win 3 in a row. I had rather see Ga. go 0-7 and beat Fla. than to be 7 and 0 and lose to them. They always play us at a higher level than they do anyone else. We have as good talent as them every year.

I just hope we are not embarassed.
Dont expect to win, not the way this team is coached.

But would like to at least be competitive on the field.
But we will come at in the predictable I, and will have predictable play calling.
And we will play it conservative to protect our fragile team’s mental state.

Unfortunately our program ( Georgia’s) needs a 1,000 lb. enema to get rid of the poisons that have built up from all the bad coaching, lack of fundamental play that surround this program.

A fresh start is called for, and that wont happen in the ugly town on the plains.
Toilet paper will be on tumors corner, or whatever corner that is.

I’m in a mixed marriage- I’m UGA, my husband AU- so I’ve seen what AU has this year at Jordan-Hare and on tv listening to commentary from the AU fans who watch with my husband. Cam is awesome, a rock star to the AU faithful, a great person off the field, but AU does have weaknesses- the secondary and the defense. Yes, they’re getting better thanks to #90 Fairley, but if CMR and CTG would take time to study game films, they can come up with a plan to beat AU or at least play them close. Also, history is on UGA’s side. Many times in this series, UGA has gone into this game ranked high and been beaten by a mediocre AU team and vice versa. Regardless of the game, UGA fans owe themselves a trip to AU just to tailgate. It will bring back good memories of what tailgating used to be like at UGA. The AU fans have giant tvs and grills and tents and coolers on the lawn at Samford Hall, their version of North Campus. Cars and trucks are parked on curbs and anywhere they can find a spot. Police aren’t hunting fans down for open containter violations- I took my beer into Foley Center to use the bathroom and there’s a manned table there for people to put down their drinks while they use the bathroom! The attendants didn’t say anything to the fans picking up their beers and alcohol laden drinks except “War Eagle”.
