Gator LB: ‘I almost burst into tears after game’; Meyer: ‘Biggest win we’ve had’

JACKSONVILLE — A few comments from the Florida side after the win over Georgia:

Florida linebacker A.J. Jones on beating the Bulldogs: “Man, it feels great. I almost burst into tears after the game. It feels great to beat Georgia, bottom line.”

Punter/placekicker Chas Henry on his game-winning field goal: “When I hit it, it felt good, but the first one that I missed felt good too, so I kept my head down like Coach Durkin and I talked about. When I saw it go through, it was the best feeling I’ve had.”

Coach Urban Meyer: “This is the biggest win we’ve had. We’ve had some great wins around here and maybe some that people would say were more important. I’d probably argue that. This is the biggest win that I can remember in a long time. . . . That was an emotional locker room. These guys have been to hell and back in the last three weeks. Why was it so important? Because we got our brains kicked in the past three weeks and we needed to get the ship righted.”

Not only will you not be playing in the pros, you haven’t even completed your degree in playground management. Sucks to be you. Go Gata!

This was a frustrating loss because the better team did not win. Urban clearly showed his colors playing the felon. Enjoy it this year gators because the tide is turning. You’re on the way back to your pre 1990 years when you were irrelevant and laid a big goose egg in the SEC Championship category. Oh wait, they did have one in 1984 but it was vacated for cheating.

The Dawgs have a promising future and will mark this game. While we’re at it let’s pull the game from Jax every other year and move it to the ATL as a “neutral site”.

Go Dawgs!

Mike T-

Florida did not have a sanctioned football team in 1904. They had a club team of Florida students that wanted to play football. There were no resources, e.g., coaches, funds, stadium, ticket sales, etc. provided by the university.

Florida has a club rugby team as well. Noone considers that team to be a varsity sport at the University of Florida, because it’s just a group of students that enjoy rugby and play students at other schools that play rugby. No records are kept by any of the schools, because the universities are not involved. They do not sanction the sport.

If it makes you feel better to know that your University of Georgia sponsored varsity football team defeated a group of students that formed a football club at another school,,,well, have at it. Enjoy yourself!

All the sanctimonious sore losers pontificating about Rainey wish they had him on their team.

Go Gators!!

DawgBone…please stop with the “better team did not win” thing. We are 4-5, and we need to stop trying to go back and figure out why we should have won more games (turnovers, etc.)

And while you’re at it, stop with the Rainey deal too. We need to clean our own house before casting stones.

This is the biggest win they’ve had per CUM…can the Gator fans stop the charade that the Georgia game isn’t a rivalry now? It’s obvious even with the lack of wins that Georgia is still and will always be in your head.

CMR is paid $ 3 million dollars a year to hire a coaching staff & win.

There are just too many excuses and no development in our weak areas.

11 games CMR has played vs Top 10 Final AP Poll teams in 10 years; lost 8

10 games CMR has played vs Florida in 10 years; he has lost 8 of them too

CMR has lost now 10 teams in 10 yrs not ranked in Top 25 Final AP Poll

In 2 months CMR will have fired every coach he hired in a 12-month period

We are to believe that now CMR knows how to hire a coaching staff ?

42-19 CMR record over these last 5 years now this season; he is great ?

In same last 5 years, CMR # 2 nation Fulmer Cup Most Arrested / Suspended

13-12 CMR record vs SEC East these last 5 years now this season; great ?

20 better college programs than our won / lost over these last 5 years

We lose 14 seniors after this 2010 season & 4 juniors; how is 2011 different ?

Mike T- The series also officially includes the 75-0 “win” UGA enjoyed during WWII when you had your whole varsity team in school while ours was out fighting the Germans and Japanese.

Dawg Fans – Glad (most of) you guys are focusing on the real problem, Chris Rainey. He is the reason you lost 5 games (so far) this year. He is the reason you lost 18 out of 21. He is the reason your program can’t get past “good” and get to “great”. It has nothing to do with the coaches or players.

Great game, Saturday. No exuses. WE can’t beat Fla, it’s that simple. Turnovers killed us on Saturday, not Rainey or Burton . D played well in second half and Murray is going to be OK but he has to throw the ball away! Orson Charles is a beast!

Calidawg, UF fans and players *don’t* think this is a rivalry anymore…they were all crying an emotional because their 3-game loosing streak got snapped, not because they went out on the field and beat a respected team in the trenches.

Whining about Rainey? Let’s face it, we give Richt credit for being a nice guy. Let’s face it; deep down, nobody cares about what kind of thugs you have on the team as long as they’re playing in Atlanta the first Saturday in December. Nobody commented about how nice Richt was the first few years of his career, when he was coaching Donnan-recruited teams into the SEC Championship and the Sugar Bowl.

We have a choice…we can start competing for SEC crowns and BCS titles, or we can start competing with Vandy for the highest graduation rate.

Never been prouder of a bunch of kids than I was watching the Dawgs fight back in the 4th. Negatives aside, those kids deserve a lot of credit and showed me that they gave no less than 100% effort. Aside from all that, man, what an entertaining game (except for the final outcome of course).

Poor Urban wasn’t crying cause he won the game, he was crying cause he was happy he still had a job. Not to mention his wife beater wasn’t going to jail yet. Poor poor Urban, poor baby so upset he squalled like a little girl – wait I thought they got rid of the whiner Spurrier – Now you tell me they go another one – give the little girl a hanky someone please!!

“81-21, ask Meyer if he would prefer to have handled the Newton issue the same.”

you turds still don’t get it….meyer suspended cam and he chose to leave the program. he was not kicked off (for all the “meyer kicked off cam but didn’t kick off rainey for a worse offense”).

tears of laughter. matter of fact i have tears right now.

hahahahahahahahaha hohohohohohhohho hehehehehehehehehehehhehehe jejejejejejejejejejejejejeje

we couldnt contain our joy

all i know is this…..

we can beat this ugag team. richt has shown that he is the dabo sweeney of the sec. the guy with the ass crack hair cut.

when we play the dawgs at the end of the seaons chances are we are 6-5 at worst and the dawg are 5-6 at best

we have a whole lot more to gain than the dogs do by beating them on their own field.

pass those hedges i am hungry.

if we beat the dawgs on their field we will never ever let them live it down. take it to the bank.

anyone want to wager that at least ONE dawg player gets arrested before that game?????? or during?????? bunch of no class thugs.

Last I checked, UGA had more players arrested in the past 6 years than Florida. All this talk about Rainey is BS….2/s of UGA’s backfield has been arrested in the past 6 months and they both played on Saturday.

Pot meet kettle….

Death…taxes…UF beating UGA….

Good post 86GOPGator. As a GA fan, it was a great game, and both teams deserved to win. I really enjoy reading post and talking with fans like you. I love my Dawgs, but I also realize that fans of the Gators and other teams love their guys just as much. I made the long trip to Jacksonville, and had a great time with my fellow GA fans and with the Gator fans, who are great by the way. That’s what NCAA football is about. Cheer for your team until the end, but when it’s over, we can all be nice and have fun. I hate we lost just as much as any Gator fan would have hated it if the Gators had of lost, but I can still have fun without name calling and all the other nonsense. Good luck to the Gators and GO DAWGS.

The Gators did not beat the Dawgs… the Dawgs beat themselves.
Enough of throwing rocks at the the Gators, and the Gators feeling like they “beat” the Dawgs.
Remember, both teams are unranked…neither has much to crow about….so far this season.
