Injured knee might keep Ealey from starting vs. Florida

ATHENS – It remains unclear who will start at tailback for Georgia on Saturday, partly because of Washaun Ealey’s knee injury, coach Mark Richt said Wednesday night.

“I don’t even know who’s going to start right now,” Richt said. “If Washaun was healthy the entire week, he might have gotten the nod.”

Georgia held a walk-through practice Wednesday indoors at the Ramsey Student Center because of lightning in the area, but Richt expressed doubt Ealey would have been able to participate full-speed in a regular outdoors practice.

Richt expressed optimism that Ealey’s knee, injured late in last week’s win at Kentucky, will be better by Saturday’s game against Florida in Jacksonville.

“It’s really more of a bone bruise; it’s not necessarily anything structurally wrong,” Richt said. “But it’s bothering him right now. In a few days, that will subside and then you add a little adrenaline to it and he’ll be fine.”

If Ealey doesn’t start, Caleb King likely would.

Ealey, who ran for 157 yards and five touchdowns on 28 carries at Kentucky, injured the knee midway through the fourth quarter. He left the game briefly, then returned to make his longest run of the night, a 41-yarder.

Ealey said Tuesday that the injury was diagnosed as a mild MCL sprain, adding: “It’s really nothing. Basically, just a bruise. . . . I know I will be playing.”

If Murray has a good day and Bozo don’t put him in too many 3rd and longs because he trys to run up the middle too much on 2nd and long Ga. wins.

McGarity’s recent comments say A LOT. He had Richt in his office the Monday after the Colorado loss. Read into that anyway you like.

SOS Dog…..you are the typical uninformed, so-called fan, who is an embarrassment to those of us who really support UGA.

I can accept that it may not be your fault….your parents probably raised you to be a cut n run, blame everyone else for your inadequacies, democrat.

If we have many second and longs and he choses to run as he does most of the time, our play calling predictability will seal our fate with a loss. You cannot be second and long unless something negative happening on first down. That is why there should be a tendency to run on first down especially if you are backed up on your end of the field.

Ealey should have been taken out of the game before he went down for the second time against UK. It was like watching Boobie Miles in Friday Night Lights.

I think Meyer’s decision to start Rainey or not to be made Thursday is a joke.I think I would have a better chanch to hit the lottery than not to see Rainey play Saturday.

You fans have a Florida fixation and it’s not healthy. It sounds like you wouldn’t mind if we went 1-11 as long as we beat the Gators. Get a grip people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you guys really think the Gators give a hoot or a holler about which RB starts ? C’mon. I will say this much: this is the first time in forever that you can’t tell who will win this game, or by how much. I think it depends on who comes ready to wallop, for 60 minutes…..

Well all I can say is that if Georgia comes out playing with the type of fire that I read on these UGA blogs everyday, they might win 56-0!

I do love how Meyer is blaming the poor performance on “practice.” Don’t you wish Allen Iverson was the AD at UF!?
“Meyer…Dog…We got a huge game on Saturday vs. Georgia and you talkin’ bout’ practice!?…I mean come on…Are you talkin’ bout’ practice!?”

First off, big question. Does it seem that this game isn’t been talked about as much this year to anyone else? I know that neither team is officially ranked, and both are having a down year, but come on! Both still have a shot to get to the SECCG and the way the SEC in general is going we could stop a BAMA or AU team from reaching the NCG. I don’t know if I want that because it is nice to have a SEC team win it all just for the well being of the conference. Auburn is good but has won close ones against mediocre teams. Alambama is back on a roll but not invinsible. SC is doing the usually spiral at the end and hasn’t really open the door for a UF or UGA yet but they sure haven’t locked that door either.
Myer is a heck of a coach and scary after a buy week but I don’t know if he can adjust his spread offense in a week. UGA’s running game has improved but not that impressive yet. Murray needs to have is game face on. Those UF linebackers are going to be looking to take him out. They know he is key. Even if it is just handing the ball off or quick slants. UGA tight ends need to get in the mix on play action. I am perfectly content on picking up 6 or 7 yrds at a time. UGA defense looks good on 1 and 2 but on 3 and long were are horrible. The soft back zone doesnt work. We always leave gaps on out routes and flat passes for quick recievers. (example: KY during the second half exploited us with this. 3 and 16= 2yrd pass into 20 yard gain.)
If Houston keeps his game, Brantley is horrible under pressure but our ILB better be watching those quick back on the flats or underneath, especially Rainey the stalker. I don’t like the kid but he is explosive. We can’t get over aggressive in our blitz packages because the screens will blow UGA up. Just let Houston and Dent work the way they like too, and everyones in a while bring a SS up because UF recievers aren’t good enough to beat our corners one on one, expect Cuff will get beat on occasion. We need to mess with Pouncey, once he gets flustered at center, all hell breaks loose on the UF front. Gray needs to come in as a slot reciever and get thrown to a couple of times to keep the UF LB in check to open up Durham, King, and Green on short post routes.
UGA will prevail by 13. Walsh will be ready, and field goals will be key because UGA isn’t very good on Offense in the RZ and UF D is better than alot of UGA fans give them credit.
GOOOOOOOO DAWGS!!!!!!!!

Believe Stirring the Pot is right on about FL’s D and DB’s. Been saying that all week on BK’s blog. GA will need heaVY dose of both King and Ealey if they expect to wear down FL’s front 4. They’ll blitz Murray as well. GA’s O line will have to play its best game to date. Meyer has tweeked his Offense and I bet it will include double teaming Houston. Grantham has to commit more folks on the def front and hope for the best that his corners can cover FL’s receivers one on one. If the DC plays his same soft zone like he did in KY 2nd half GA will lose.

This year is GA’s best opportunity to beat FL but they’ll have to match Meyer’s tweek for tweek in order to win..

Bone bruise? MCL strain? Big difference between the two. Maybe they need a new medical staff who actually went to medical school. Otherwise, he could get seriously hurt and end up out for the year.

Dawgs defense needs to have the defensive game of the year! Keep mixing it up on Brantley. Keep the preasure on him. Don’t let him breath. Stop the mental mistakes! This game will be in our defenses hand. Play that old Junkyard Dawg D and we will win!
Still, hate the fact that the gators had the week off. Defense needs to smash them in the mouth right from the 1st snap of the ball and often. No stupid penalties! We need 3 turnovers!
Hey I’m not asking for much. ha ha

GO DAWGS! Beat them gators!

Coach Richt needs to get freshman RB Malcombe 2010 game time experience. Thomas is good for 3-5 plays/game. Ealey will hammer it in there, but if he goes down, then there is only Caleb and Thomas left to move the ball. Malcombe has better moves than Munz. Put Malcombe in the game, Coach. Do not let talent sit on the sideline like Knowshon Moreno and Aaron Murray did their first years. Go Dogs!!!
