ATHENS – Georgia tailback Washaun Ealey missed parts of Tuesday’s practice because of a minor knee injury but said he will play Saturday against Florida.
Ealey said the injury, suffered in the fourth quarter of last week’s victory at Kentucky, was diagnosed as a mild sprain of the medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his right knee.
“It’s really nothing,” Ealey said. “Basically, just a bruise.”
Although held out of some drills Tuesday, including the portion of practice when the No. 1 offense went against the No. 1 defense, Ealey participated when the offense worked against the scout-team defense, which was simulating Florida’s defense.
“It’s 100 percent,” Ealey said later. “I’ve been running on it. Just trying to get it from being stiff. Just trying to get it back to strength.”
“He’s going to be good to go,” offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said of Ealey. “It’s think it’s more a precautionary measure. [The knee] got a little stiff after the [Kentucky] game. He carried it 28 times, and it got a little sore on him, like anybody’s does when they carry it 28 times.”
Ealey ran 157 yards and a UGA-record five touchdowns in the game. He left the game briefly midway through the fourth quarter because of the knee.
“When it first happened, I was [afraid the injury was worse], but after I rolled around a couple of times and the pain was kind of settling down, I knew it wasn’t very bad,” he said.
He returned to the game to make his longest run of the night, a 41-yarder.
Ealey figures to get fewer carries against Florida because fellow tailback Caleb King will return from a two-game suspension. King was suspended by coach Mark Richt after being arrested for failing to appear at a court date regarding a speeding ticket.
“Caleb is rested up,” Bobo said, “and I think he’s itching to get back out there and pick up where he left off.”
King started in the last game before his suspension, but Ealey posted back-to-back 100-plus-yard games in King’s absence. Richt said Tuesday that he expects King and Ealey to share the carries against Florida. Richt said he doesn’t know which one will start.

Saturday in Jacksonville will prove to be an old fashion “slobberknocker”………..In the end though, The University of Georgia will show it has a hungrier pack of Bulldogs than The Gators. This game will come down to one thing: desire……….Too bad we had to wait this long into the season for the Dogs to “grow-up”………..But then again, for you history buffs……..take a look back to 1979, the year before we last won the National Championship……….sort of spooky and exciting all at the same time…………..GO DOGS !!!! SIC’ ‘EM WOOF…….WOOF………..WOOF !!!!!!!!!!!

Several things I can’t seem to figure out.
1.Why aren’t the bugs calling for PJ to be fired? His team just plain sucks.
2.Why aren’t the Texas fans calling for Mac Brown to be fired and take that no good Muschamp guy with him?
3. Why are Bosie State and TCU ranked? If they play each other in a bowl game again this year it will be two years running that neither have played anyone. I thought BS did with VaTech at the first of the year but then James Madison beat them, sooooooo?
4. Why did who allow the conferences that BS and TCU play in be BCS, or what ever they call it now, conferences?
5. If a team from the SEC East wins the conference championship game, will they get to play for the MNC with 2 or 3 lossses?
6. Is the SEC down this year in quality or is there just more parody? I realize AL might be down a little from perfection as well as UF, but don’t you believe that one reason for all of the chaos is that the other teams have become a notch or two better like AU, Arkansas, SC and KY?

Bull, I believe Ealy was just repeating what his trainers have told him. son, you have a mcl sprain. In your case it is like a bad bruise. He heard this and then repeated it to the reporter.

Bruise? Sprain? MCL- good luck with that! If you’ve ever had an MCL injury you KNOW it’s not a bruise and if the trainers are calling it that then they’re as dumb as some of the players at UGA! I had a so called sprain and played basketball after “resting” for 2 weeks only to completely tear my ACL and continue to have problems to this day….and yes I was an athlete in great physical condition and 16! Go ahead and play Ealy and maybe you’ll miss a few games (Auburn, Tech etc)and “butterfingers” can take over.

UGA AD, Greg McGarity wil be watching this game closely. He is a UGA alum, former UGA athlete, and took a pay check form the Gators for 18 years as the # 2 man under Florida’s AD Foley. He knows how to win at the very highest levels of the NCAA and Florida IS a fine academic school too.
McGarity will want to fathom why UGA apparently does get good players, as does Florida but lately ( we ) cannot compete with em. His entire run as #2 AD man at Florida was in watching his alma mater LOSE and now his employer, get blown out over and over by the Gators. NOW? He wants to know why and how to END it. THAT will be AD McGarity’s job on Saturday.
It is NOW that Richt will be under the gun. Auburn is coming up with a no name coach that has taken them to great heights in only 1.5 years. GT too will be a guage. GT will need to be a blown out for McGarity to even consider keeping CMR and his staff intact …………..If ………………IF Florida and Auburn hammer UGA.
Gang …………….NOW is Richt’s time to shine or be gone. You know and I know it.
Go Dogs.

Sorry georgiadawg70. The worst game I have ever been to was spurrier crushing us in Athens. For some reason the loss does not sting as bad after the party in Jacksonville. Frankly I prefer to be in Jacksonville where I am welcome rather than in athens where the cops and school president apparently don’t want us to be.
Last game I watched a well dressed 60 year old gentleman get yelled at by an athens cop for stepping out of the front of a crowded restaurant to answer his phone with a drink in his hand. He was not drunk and disorderly. He was a little stunned by the punk cope behavior, wich made the cop year more because the man was convinced he must be yelling at someone else. When the cop pointed and showed his cuffs he put his hands up finally realizing he was the one the cop was yelling at. Everyone around was stunned by the behavior except the students who are used to these jerks with badges.

Without fail, in every UGA game that we have a big lead in the fourth quarter, all of our group turns to one another and asks the same question WHAT IN THE HELL ARE ALL OF THESE STARTERS STILL IN THE GAME FOR? WHY WOULD YOU NEED TO RISK INJURY TO YOUR STARTING TAILBACK WHEN YOU’RE UP BY 21 IN THE FOURTH?

Ealey should be the feature back this week! Here you have a guy who busted his ass last week and how do you reward him during UGA/UF game? You threaten the kid with less carries. How crazy is that. Would any of the previous coaches ever done that with Herschel, Hearst or Edwards? Hell no! This frustrates me to no end about this coaching staff, Ealey should be told to expect another 28 carries and play until he can’t take anymore. Wake up CMB, get your head out of your ass!

Insider, for the moment let’s just forget that we have ZERO idea what Richt has said to Ealey in private to maintain his motivation, or that the comment was as much geared to get King’s attention as much as his….and just look at the more obvious. This is a kid who 2 weeks ago couldn’t get into the game because he wasn’t holding up his end of the bargain, and now you want him to be told that he no longer has to compete for the job, it’s his till he decides he differently? Don’t even worry about proving yourself in practise this week. Lastly I trust the actual staff to evaluate if 28 carries is the proper way to use or ruin the kids knee.

Alot of people are calling out Richts critics.
We’re here. I’ve been the first to praise Richt for at least trying to change how practice is conducted and the boys are prepared.
Make no mistake, Mark Richt is still under the gun. This is the first very big challenge he has to show that he can turn the cycle of this program. Florida is in his head and he absolutely must prove he can overcome the mental challenges he allows his teams to be blocked by.
THis game will go a long way to determining how the supporters and administrators of this program perceive the job he is doing.
GATA and shut us skeptics all up for another week or two!

Wondering….I am still here and still hope he is fired. Still tired of the having top notch talent and watching us underperform with it. Of Course UGA won against UK, Vandy and UT. What teams in the nation would have lost to those three??? I dare say even Georgia Tech would beat those three teams. WOW we beat three weaklings!!! I am glad we won and pray we beat Florida. Lose to them this year when they look even more pathetic than us and we may never beat them again! Fact is we are still undercoached but having three weak teams in a row has made the average fan think everything is all right. Fact is we still have the same weakness as before but have the talent to whip those sorry programs.

I like Mark Richt as a coach…..but this is one of his flaws. Running back by committee is not going to work. Last season…when Ealey became the guy, he played well. This season…when Ealey became the guy (by default, but he was still the guy)….he has played well. He even blocked for his QB…..and I never thought he would do that.
Make Ealey your #1 guy, and King as your #2 guy. Then just watch them roll…but this whole co #1 thing does not work.

Can CMR deliver a NC- Beating the 3 worst teams in the league doesn’t save Richt’s job. He could easily lose to Fla (putting him at 2-8) get embarassed against Auburn and lose to Tech. Let’s wait and see what this season becomes. 5-7 is unaccpetable with the schedule they play this year.
Bobo can go whenever. Honestly, does anyone see a setback or a decline in our offense if Bobo were to leave or be demoted???? Is there a reason he’s been at UGA for 10 years and isn’t being talked about as an HC anywhere?????
