Cornerback/punt returner Branden Smith, who missed Georgia’s past three games because of a concussion, is expected to return to action Saturday against Florida, coach Mark Richt said Monday night.
“Branden, we believe, will be ready to play,” Richt said on his weekly radio show. “If there is no setback, then he’ll play for us. We feel like he’ll be ready to go.”
In addition to using Smith on defense and punt returns, Georgia also occasionally plays him on offense. In punt-return situations Saturday, Richt said the Bulldogs will have the option of using Smith or A.J. Green. “A.J. still might be back there,” Richt said.
Smith suffered his second concussion of the season in the Oct. 2 game at Colorado and has not played since.
Richt also said wide receiver Logan Gray will be “ready to go.” Gray left last week’s game with a minor hamstring injury in the first half but returned later.
“I don’t think he has any ill effects from what happened in the ballgame this last week,” Richt said. “I just talked to him today, and he feels real good. More than likely, Logan will be the guy back there when we’re in our punt-safe, as he has been, standing on that 10-yard line deciding whether to field the punt or let it roll into the end zone.”

First off: Columbus Dawg, shut up. Richt’s not going anywhere after this season except vacation.
Second: Just rewatched the Corrine Baker video from the floor of Congress…the US Congress, where she read her commendation of ‘Corch Meyers’ and the Flahduh Gator team with Percy Harbins….no kidding, the people of Florida elected this illiterate, inaarticulate idiot. She HAD to have swept in on the same lunacy that elected the facist currently occupying the West Wing.

oops, Corrine Brown. Sorry. After watching her mangle the language, I’d better at least get her name right.
The WORST thing about Gator week every year is that it signals the fact that the regular season is winding down, and the whining among those that never played any sport anywhere about whether or not a playoff is needed. Get over it, just enjoy the ride………

Nanook: Right post, wrong time. This team has won its last three and to this crowd thats like free money. You can’t get any attention to the fundamental problems at UGA until a loss occurs. Rerun your comment Monday or after the Auburn game and you’ll fit right in with the Fire ____ and Fire ____ and Fire _____ crowd. You see these people rely on dawg team results to determine how they feel. Right now its New Year’s Eve in dawgdom.

With Florida’s identity crisis on offense, and our advantage on special teams, if we can mount SOME kind of of D (unlike against KY), we win this game. They are a great D, but w/ Murray, AJ, Ealey, C. King, T. King, Charles, White, Durham, I hope we keep them off balance.
GO DAWGS!!!!!

Branden could be better used as a slot receiver. He has had 2 concussions (that we know of) this year playing corner. He was ineffective playing corner against USC big receivers, and teams constantly run to his side because of his size and lack of tackling abililty. The dawgs could use his 4.3 speed at slot, where most of the time he would create a mismatch with the LB covering him. Why can’t Georgia coaches figure this one out?

We want six touchdowns at least, and do not allow the Gators in the end-zone at all. No touchdowns for the Gators….:-)
