A roundup of the AJC’s coverage of Georgia’s 43-0 win over Vanderbilt:
My game story, which notes that Todd Grantham coveted a shutout even after the win was assured:
ATHENS — A football team that looked hapless and hopeless two weeks ago flexed its muscle here Saturday.
Georgia put up big numbers on offense and the most impressive number of all on defense, beating Vanderbilt 43-0 in a happy homecoming game in Sanford Stadium.
The shutout was Georgia’s first against an SEC opponent since 2006. The margin of victory was Georgia’s largest against an SEC opponent since 2004. And the win was Georgia’s second in a row after four consecutive losses.
“This is the way we feel like we could have played the whole year,” quarterback Aaron Murray said.
Well, that would have spared a lot of anguish.
Andy Johnston’s sidebar on the coronation of Uga VIII:
. . . Before being led to his doghouse by members of the Seiler family, which owns the line of mascots, Uga VIII stopped and seemed to give a goodbye kiss to Russ.
. . . Being his first game, Uga VIII seemed to be unsure of the crowd noise and music. He spent most of the game inside his doghouse.
“This is a great-looking dog,” UGA President Michael Adams said. “I think he’s going to have a great career.”
Jeff Schultz’s column, which notes the team has a pulse that was barely detectable at 1-4:
ATHENS – Since Georgia is way past concerns about where it ranks in the Harris Poll, there’s little in the way of buildup for the unveiling of the first BCS standings Sunday. Certainly, there’s no reason for fans to reflect and wonder: “Will Vanderbilt’s record hurt our strength of schedule?”
But that shouldn’t matter right now. There is a pulse.
Andy Johnston’s sidebar on Washaun Ealey coming through in a time of need:
ATHENS — Washaun Ealey’s focus never wavered.
Ball security remained at the forefront of his mind throughout Georgia’s 43-0 victory over Vanderbilt on Saturday, and with it came Ealey’s best performance of the season.
“I feel like I won [teammates' and coaches'] trust a little bit, but I have to keep working and let them keep trusting me and show them that I can be that back,” Ealey said. “It was a big game for me. I knew I had a lot of people depending on me to have a good game.”
My notebook, including items on Blair Walsh’s record, the sellout streak and Ken Malcome keeping his redshirt:
ATHENS — Georgia freshman tailback Ken Malcome did not make his college debut Saturday after all. And he probably won’t play this season.
Coach Mark Richt had suggested Malcome might shed his redshirt and play against Vanderbilt because of attrition at tailback — specifically, Caleb King’s suspension and Carlton Thomas‘ strained hamstring. But Thomas’ condition improved Wednesday and Thursday, and he played Saturday in relief of starter Washaun Ealey.
And Brant Sanderlin’s photo gallery, including this shot of teammates congratulating Carlton Thomas after his third-quarter touchdown:

Murray gets better every game . It proves my point every game he get more experience , that if CMR have played him last year in the last 4 or 5 games he would have been as ready as he is now, at the first of the season and UGA would be undefeated or with only one lose.
The other person that needs to have some more game experience this year is Walsh. He has missed two easy field goal attempts the last two weeks because he isn’t getting enough practice in a game situation.CMR needs to let him try anything inside of 65 yards.

A “Big day” ? Really? Against the worst team in the SEC. That’s now the litmus test for UGA football? What a Homer. You bunch of inbred trailer trash rednecks need to resign yourself to the fact that a losing record and home for the Holiday’s is a certainty. You are about to play big-boy football over the next few weeks. And no, you are not a player on the National scene. Actually, you are a joke. The Sheriff has spoken.

Defense beginning to play better but I still think Bobo’s play calling sucks!!! 1st and ten incomplete pass. That is automatically a run on 2nd down always!!! 2nd and 4 or less then we pass it!! 3rd and long play action pass why???? That should be run on 2nd down and 4!! Glad we played a nobody again today!!! Bobo still has 2 go people its still the same play calls they just worked the last 2 weeks because we played sorry teams!!! But every other part of our game seems to be coming together. Still begining to worry about Walsh he hit the crossbar on 1 field goal then missed the next!!! Hope he got his misses out the way before Florida game. Next week Kentucky will give us all we want!!! But keep grinding and go Dawgs!!!

76 Dawg- Just bc Murray’s having a great yr. now doesn’t mean he should have played last yr. He was hurt last yr., which was one reason he didn’t play last yr. I don’t know what you mean about Walsh. He’s had plenty of game experience. I, for one, wish we would score more TDs, & not have to use him as much on Field Goals. We are getting better though, which is all I can ask for at this point. One more thing, how can anyone say UGA doesn’t have a chance against FL. at this point. UGA’s ggetting better, & FL. doesn’t appear to be. Just hoping anyway, but you never know.

Murray hurt his shoulder in August last year and I think he could have played in November, or as I stayed in the last 4 or 5 games. Cox was a bust last year and if CMR had gotten Murray in the last 4 or 5 games UGA probably would have beaten South Carolina, Arkansas, Mississippi State and Colorado or at least 2 of them. The game experience that Murray could have gotten last year he had to get this year.
I think Murray has done a great job this year. The only thing that was holding him back was Bobo not have confidence in him , because of his inexperience , from the first game.
Also Bobo and maybe CMR still don’t realize that this year the running attach is feeding off of the passing attach. Their play calling has just started to emphasize that fact. It was very clear from the first game that UGA had some of the best receivers in the nation but only very average running backs and an offensive line that wasn’t very good at run blocking. If we had thrown the ball 50 time a game , we would have 2 to 4 more win right now. But CMR and Bobo didn’t have enough confidence in Murray to give him that much responsibility.

The team seems to be coming together at the right time. Next week will be a big challange and if we overcome that obstacle, then we will be on our way. The safties still look a little out of place an that will have to be corrected before next Saturday because Kentucky will exploit our weakness. We will have to play very physical and smart ball to continue our success. Great win. GO DAWGS!!!!!

You redneck Jawga fans get a reality check. You are playing one of the easiest schedules in the country and with a 3-4 record still a joke nationally. Beating the weakest team in the SEC is reason for a downtrodden program to cheer but have no misillusions about what is ahead. Teams that are more physical & talented waiting to pounce on your junk.
Think about what might of been when you sit home watching your big brothers in the SEC play big time bowl games. It’s just a foggy pipe dream in Athens.

We are on a roll two in a row. Tennessee brought their worst team in years to Athens. Then Vandy is Vandy. This will set the tone for the game next week against KY. Georgia will have the big head syndrome and lose to KY. Then we have FL the next week that has been preparing for us for two weeks. CMR will preach all week how we are a team just now coming together. Do you think Urban will allow FL to lose 4 games in a row? To UGA at that. Put away the CMR Kool Aid and look at our program history. When the end of the year gets here maybe everyone will see that the cool as a cucumber approach does not work. Emotion is a major factor in college sports. We pay CMR 3 million a year and for that kind of money we expect positive results. The UGA cash generating racket makes it had for the average family to even attend a game. Pay CMR is 5 million buyout. He would much rather be on a mission trip. You can watch his demeanor and tell he does not want to be a coach at UGA. He needs to follow his heart and follow his passion. Then find someone who cares and wants to lead the Georgia football program.

A good win, not a great win (no such thing as great wins against Vandy).
Bobo called a good game, contrary to what some of you think. Grantham has the D going in the right direction….a shutout against a decent SEC opponent. Murray seems to be learning every game. Kudos again to Chris Durham!
But…we can’t afford to not come out ready to play each half. EG, 3 time outs in the first five mins of the first; a batted down pass to start the second; either situation could lead to better opponents getting points on us. So, not quite ready to “drink the cool aid”. But overall a good showing, just like La-La, except Vandy is a far superior team.
Kentucky showed they can be a very capable opponent. We gotta be ready…for Kentucky. We shouldn’t be talking about Awbun nor Flawduh at this point. Those will be tough games, but Kentucky is next.
Uga VIII looks great and is 1 and 0. Hopefully he’ll come outa his shell soon and not spend the entire game in the dawg house. Thank you Russ for filling in, but you just didn’t quite get the job done.

The Dawgs are getting better every week we have won two in a row – the mighty Gators have lost three in a row – two in the swamp…..I guess Urban forgot how to coach this year and needs to fire his entire staff and maybe himself. Isn’t that the advice we get from other fans about Richt? What goes around comes around people – like I said – Tebow is a once in a generation type of player….without him (and Mullen and Strong) the Gators are back in the swamp – literally. Is it just me or does Meyer, when he is on the sidelines, look like he wishes he had STAYED resigned last year?

Grantham is padding his statistics. Shows he is keenly aware of the year end numbers. Good for him. That is what the fans like. With Greg McGarity’s scheduling ideas for non-conference games, the defensive statistics should continue to improve over the next several years. If you want to see predictable offensive play calling, watch the Gayters. Miss St., AU, and UF are basicaly running the same O now. Cam Newton seems to be a difference maker in that style of offense. Miss St. did not throw a pass in the second half last night and beat the Gayters. Make me think Paul Johnson would do just fine in the SEC.

Tony B’s burning questions:
Will Oregon be atop the BCS when the first rankings are revealed now that the mighty The Ohio State has fallen??
Or will Boise be the number 1 ?
Can Arkansas ever play D ?
Can anyone stop Auburn’s offense, which is to say number 2 ?
Can the Gators find some offense?
Can the Tide beat the War Eagles in the iron Bowl?
Will LSU end up in the SECCG if the beat AU?
Has SC folded like a tent?
Bonus question- You are on the 20 yard line with a timeout left, trailing by 3 with 11 seconds left.
Do you use the TO, kick the FG and go to OT where anything can happen ?
Do you use the TO, decide to throw it into the endzone risking an INT and a sure loss ?
tick…tick…tick….

SEC East is not “up for grabs”. USC wins out and they are in. . OR, if they lose once more and the Dawgs win out, then SC is still the East champ. Dawgs needs to win out and hope SC loses TWICE to have any chance of winning the East. Toughest games left for SC are Arkansas and Florida. Of course, those are OUR two toughest games left as well. . . . still gonna take a lot of luck and hard work.

Bottom line dogville, hapless teams are a feast for the dogs. Beating three teams with a combined record of 8—-12, and their wins coming form lower tiered football teams, does not equate with the reasoning that the dogs will triumph the rest of the season. Schultz has it right in his article with the quote of what if. Basically that all dogville ever expounds. The dogs do not have the intensity to win consistently and nationally. Keep on what iffing, dogville.

Still dont care about the way Bobo calls plays. We won 2 games at home and not away so we’ll see if this streak continues at Kentucky this saturday. Defense is more agressive than it was 2 weeks ago and seems to know where they should be in alignment to the opponents offense. No arm tackling, penalties, mis assignments i think they’re getting into a groove now. The offense is a Dr. Jekyl Mr. Hyde and hopefully they’re popping on all cylinders. I tell you one thing i think alot of ppl missed was the prominent talent of a RB named Carlton Thomas. I believe this guy can flat out fly around ends and has great vision down the field though he’s short. Georgia should use this RB more often cause the talents there. I thought Washaun was gonna be a more Moreno type back and be a big play maker but he hasnt lived up to high expectations so far. Offense is definietly better with A.J. in there and Durham is a better reciever than i ever thought he would be. Where is Marlon Brown these days? Why arent they using him anyone know? If Georgia plays with the same intensity against Kentucky, Florida, Auburn they might have a shot of winning the SEC. Ofcourse South Carolina has to lose 2 more against Florida and Vandy and we’d have to beat Florida for the tie breaker but hey there is a chance there. To the Defense wow now thats Georgia D and how it should be played, swarming, sacking, gang tackling, relentless out of control defense that puts a hurt on anyone crossing that imaginary line. See how good you guys can really be when you want too? Boss Bailey knows this, the fans know this, the coaches know this and maybe finally you know this. Play with a Ronnie Lott mentality, make them hurt and make them scared and make them worry. Win the 3 and i’ll bet you get in, heck infact win them all finish 8-4 and show the fans you got talent and desire. The whole success of the Offense lies solely on the offensive lines shoulders. Block, protect, open up holes………no sacks and no penalties! Youre suppose to be one of the best offensive lines in the country…..now man up and be that!

The D is coming around but it’s still not close to being good. Grantham’s system is VERY difficult to master. If you see it live at the stadium, you will see players still pointing at each other all the time fussing about each other being out of position or “that’s your guy” kind of stuff. You don’t see it on TV. We’re half way thru the season and guys still can’t get it all down. It’s scary to watch live because it means at some point, a good team is going to smoke us on this. I am starting to wonder if Grantham’s scheme is just a tad too much for college kids. Good for the pros but too difficult for college. I’ll be curious to see if he “dumbs it down” a little in the off season.
Possible future losses: UK, UF, Aub, GT
If we play UK like we’ve played the last 2 weeks, we should beat them. Their win over USC will make them a little over confident.
The 2 weeks off scares me with UF. They’ll get healthy and have time to see the weaknesses in the O and the D. Frankly, I’ll be shocked if we beat them after they’ve had 2 weeks to prepare.
I’m still not sold on Aub. Their D is horrible. I think of these 4 possible losses, we have a better chance against Aub. Our D may be too strong for them to score enough points to keep up with the amount of points our O could score against their D.
And GT….well that’ll be an all out war. Thank goodness their D isn’t so hot, either. Their O isn’t quite what it has been. It’ll still be a battle.

The SEC East is not wide open. South Carolina would have to drop two more SEC games and we would have to win the rest of ours to win the East. The odds of both of those things happening are not good. However, it is South Carolina and I wouldn’t be surprised if they folded like a tent down the stretch. They’ve done it before. No way we beat Auburn at Auburn though. I don’t think our D will be much of a match for Cameron Newton. Florida is garbage and very beatable. In fact, Richt better beat them or his head will be back on the chopping block for sure.

When three teams control their own destiny (UF, SC, and Vandy), with another only a game back of being tied, that is the definition of being wide open. USC still has Tennessee, UF and Arkansas…don’t hand them the title just yet. UF has 3 losses like us and still has to play us and SC.

we will win out the rest of our games. and then we will win the SEC EAST. then we’ll win the SEC championship. we’ll probably get screwed out of BCS title game due to ESPN conspiracy but we’ll whoop up on a nobody in Sugar Bowl, claim ourselves “the hottest team in the country at the end of the year that no one wants to play”, then look for our preseason #1 ranking next year. WE RUN THIS STATE, I’m so sorry that hardly anyone is talking about Georgia Tech football these days. Its pretty sad when 3-4 Georgia gets more pub than your defending ACC Chumps. I guess we truly do run this state after all. Good luck against…who do you play next week?

Big win for Kentucky indeed, Georgia’s emotions are high too. The Defense has vastly improved the last 2 weeks but that was infront of a home crowd. I think we can run the ball on Kentucky as long as the O Line is focused and knows what they have to do. Establish the run then set up the pass, do the opposite and its a long day in horse country. They have a pretty good QB there at Kentucky, contain the outsides, put a good rush on him mixed with blitzes but be aware of the QB scrambing cause he’ll take off if there are no LB’s or the ends have over pursued. He’s a Michael Vick type QB and likes to run so i’d say to the Defense…..containment is the key. You’ve won 2 which is great but now you have to focus on Kentucky, one game at a time. The crowd will be up after the win last saturday but Georgia can take the crowd out of the game. Coach Richt should play Carlton Thomas more, i like his energy, his speed, his elusiveness and determination. Like Durham as well and i think he’s a sleeper on Georgia’s Offense. Now we have 2 great WR’s on offense cause AJ helps free up Durham and using the TE more was a good call but i dont think it was BObo’s idea to use him more. Where is Marlon Brown cause i havent seen him much this year. I think Georgia wins 33-20 on saturday. I think alot of teams are overrated , Florida isnt near as good without Tebow gone, Alabama not near as good as a year ago, Georgia i thought had the best advantage coming into the year because so many Fresham QB’s in the league cause they were suppose to have a great Offensive line and alot of experience on the Defense but this is the SEC and anythings possible. I think we’re now seeing the true Georgia team the way it was suppose to be. I think there were just too many distractions off the field. Think Richt should reinstate Demetre Baker, everyone should get a 2nd chance cause i know you and i have. If it was Rape or Murder or Arson i could understand and yeah i know where do you draw the line? I truely believe Demetre has total remorse and has a total different mindset now and he knows how lucky he was to play football at a Div. 1-A school. If you were to make everything apples to apples then there would be alot of other players on that bus to different schools. You guy’s have got to understand what kind of priviledge you have going to a big time college and playing infront of 90 thousand fans and being on TV. Theres alot of us sitting here watching you play out there wishing we had the same opportunity you have to play but circumstances changed our opportunity in our lives.
Then we see the headlines over and over again and we cant believe you’d do such a stupid thing because of the opportunity youve been given. It embarrases the school, your teammates, your coaches, and your fans and mostly your families. Quit having the “gansta” mentality, those guys are in jail or dead. How you act now while in college will determine what type athlete or person you’ll be after school. It molds you and manifests you into who you are. Most of you go to school for free where alot of others are paying for their education, you eat and board for free while other students have to work very hard just to live there and some have to quit because they cant afford it. Youve been given a gift in life, dont squander it over something ridicolous and silly that will change your whole future. You left “Boy” back in highschool and now youre suppose to be “Men” so act like it!

My God there’s a lot of hate on here. Jealous TECH fans mostly…The FL fans are absent (wonder why?)
I think this is a good way to look at the season at mid-point: ALA –defending NC & unbeatable Saban lost to SCar; SCar goes to KEN & loses the very next week; Ohio St takes over #1 for A WEEK and loses to their very next game; FL loses 3-in a row. Bottom line: ANYTHING can happen in CFB, and all of those ‘other’ coaches don’t see, that much better than Richt. Relax people…Let’s wait ’till the end of the season until we reflect so we’ll have an accurate feel of where UGA really is.

Here is some food for thought………With S.C. loss yesterday to Kentucky suddenly UGA is still in the SEC east race! UGA and FLA both have 3 losses and SC has 2 losses. UGA must win out in SEC play and we would need SC to lose to FLA and either ARK or Tenn. It is very possible for this to happen, so we now have a glimmer of hope of still getting to Atlanta. UGA is suddenly playing its best ball at the right time. Take care of busines at Kentucky, whip FLA and go to Auburn and pull a huge upset and we just might be playing for the SEC Championship………..GO DAWGS!!!

Vandy’s Defense is as good as Kentucky’s D. 500 yds. isnt bad. It shows to me potential. AJ, Durham, Orson Charles, and the emergence of Carlton Thomas blew me away. We dont have a established RB ppl. Caleb King and Washaun Ealy arent as great as i thought they would be. Average backs. If you guys arent gonna do anything move out of the way. Only one of you has a 100 yard game. Give RB Thomas a try Richt or Bobo! These other two seem to tip toe through holes or around corners and dont run with purpose enough. Heck go with freshmen and mix things up. We have got to have a running game and eat some clock , make defenses tired for being on the field too long.
This last 3 game run will all depend on the “DEFENSE” cause they will set up the momentum and will get the players up faster than anything. Keep up the “No Scoring” against you mentality. Set little goals with 1st downs, 100 yds rushing against you, turnovers, interceptions. If they score a field goal against you then tell yourself that you arent gonna allow them to score a TD. I know alot of things are difficult with the new defense and i really believe ya’ll have found yourselves and are a force to be reckoned with.

Why does ANYONE CARE about the WORTH of our wins? Obviously, if you take that angle then SC’s win over Bama didn’t mean much becauase they turned around and lost to an unranked Kentucky team. We need to enjoy the wins and get ready for Kentucky. What I liked about Saturday was that everybody got the ball from the receivers to the tight ends to the RB’s….AM was giving it to everybody. We didn’t look real sharp at times or overly fired up and that needs to change. Two wind in a row BEATS THE H**L out of three losses in a row, eh? Getting better always trumps sliding into the abyss Gee, even the ZOOKER never lost three in a row – ouch. Looks like the real coaching at Florida moved to Miss. St. and Louisville.

Kentucky had lost 3 games before beating SC (Florida, Ole Miss, Auburn) Florida lost 3 straight games (Alabama, LSU, Miss. St.) 2 games were at home. I think after losing to Alabama, LSU and Miss. St. at home theyve given up because its been along time theyve been faced with this kind of adversity. Auburn plays at Ole Miss and Chattanooga before playing us. If they beat Ole Miss and blows out Chattanooga they could be ranked as high as #3 or #5 respectively. They barely beat Miss St. 17-14, Clemson 27-24 at home, South Carolina 35-27, Kentucky 37-34. Their beatable folks, they have an average defense. We could have easily been 7-0 and have lost 4 games by 8 pts. a game. We lost no game by more than 12 pts. Penalties, turnovers changed things for us. I think we more underrated than overrated. Kentucky will be so high after their upset, they were getting beat 28-10 at half time with South Carolina. South Carolina had 3 turnovers 2 which resulted in Kentucky scores. SC Lattimore blew over their defense, and they got huge chunks from passing plays. Wheel routes, dumping it to a back, and screens plays are Kentucky’s weakness. I think Georgia ” will probably be the underdog. If Georgia has no turnovers i really believe the game wont be close. Ga 44 Ky 13. Depends on who shows up Saturday.

1) Out score our opponents. We have the best reciever(AJ) and qb(AM) in the sec. Turn Aaron Murray loose and let him do what he does best. Score Score Score!
2) Our defense will do enough. They are 20th in the nation in points allowed. Grantham need to bliss more. Take more chances in sending the house against opponents qbs.

Yeah well were all getting ahead ofourselves. One game at a time. Kentucky though im very glad beat South Carolina but SC beat theirselves moreso than Kentucky. Lattimore has 134 yds by half time. SC gave Kentucky 14 free pts. and lost by 3. Lattimore went down with an ankle injury and couldnt play the 2nd half a total different team without him. Wasnt Kentucky’s defense, it was South Carolina’s inability to close the game out even without lattimore. Kentucky will show up saturday thinking how good they are and our team will show up on saturday with something to prove. The Defense is 180% better than 3 weeks ago. I think those harder practices during the week helped out alot.
I hope that Georgia doesnt become so one dimension again and utilizes their tight ends and RB’s more and uses this against Kentucky next saturday. Kentucky is very vunerable in so many areas on defense.
Put pressure on their QB and contain the ends and make kentucky’s QB stay in the pocket. Watch out for Randall Cobb and Chris Matthews they had big games. If we stick to the run more than the pass it will keep Kentucky off the field. The DB’s can match up with Cobb and Matthews. Whole key relies on the pass rush and pressure on Hartline but i think we can.

the Sunshine has left the Florida’s Gators this year and soon they’ll be choking on peaches instead of oranges. Aaron Murray far better at QB than Brantley. I knew Florida basted out in the sun too long after Tebow left. Now you’ll have to sit back and watch the likes of Alabama, Auburn, LSU, SC, Georgia beat you and make you a 2nd tier school again. Hold on Florida………more loses and humiliation are on the way. Florida’s in so much dissaray that they about to change up their offense trying to find something that will click, just like a baseball team thats in a huge slump. These Gators will end up eating their own young to save themselves. Urban Meier takes that Notre Dame Coaching job after all, florida falls to 5-7 and now is being investigated by the NCAA on rules violations.
You had your reign, now comes the after effects of making deals with the devil. Georgia 38 Florida 12.

Two impressive wins over 2 weak teams. Yet, a win is a win when your struggling. UK will be a whole other factor. They have a vry good team with some big guys on it. My guess that they are favored by at least a TD. We still need to pick it up if we are to come out of Lexington with a “W”. Can be done!
If we continue to get better we have POSSIBLITY to win the rest of the game with the exception of Auburn. Those guys are playing some great ball right now. Give them credit. Still, it sucks when you think the best out of this year we can get is 7 wins this season.

Licking my wounds. But I try not to post too much on this site. Georgia blog you know. But the Gators offense is terrible this year and we have no FG kicker….with a FG kicker….the Gators are 6-1 right now. So I wouldn’t be shoveling dirt on the Gators future yet. Who knew losing Celab Sturgis would be such a big deal….it was. Also Andre Debose and Jaye Howard in the first quarter didn’t help because Debose is the only big playmaker (with Demps limited) the Gators have on offense…sad to say….and Jaye Howard is one of the best DTs in the country. The Bulldogs don’t run to the left all night with him in the lineup on a regular basis. But still…if you can’t run the ball at all…you can’t win in the SEC….and the Gators aren’t running the ball….and they aren’t winning in the SEC right now. I hope they can get healthy and better before the Georgia game…..the season isn’t over yet for the Gators….but Gator fans see a fast moving highway of bleakness right now. But…with two weeks to prepare and get healthy…I think the Gators will come out and play hard against Georgia….but if you can’t beat the Gators this year…..Dawg fans….you might never beat the Gators again….’cause you better get them this year because Jeff Driskell is on his way to run the spread….and he is REAL GOOD both running and throwing the ball. And once the Gators get the offense gets fixed…the young players on D are good enough to help the Gators win big again.

Florida had a lot to overcome this year. Losing your offensive and defensive coordinators in a very short period and losing 6 to 8 Juniors because they went out early would hurt any team. Even though Freshmen make a lot of mistakes trying to learn the play book and what they are suppose to do on each play and to have the discipline to do their job, at least Florida is getting a lot of them the practical experience that will pay big dividends at the end of this year and next year

This clearly shows your lack of class and education. Tennessee people even say that they are weak this year. They are weak, compared to the teams that they usually field. I think everyone agrees with that.
The real test will be the next 2 games to see if UGA has turned a corner or if it really was just 2 weak teams they played. Man, I hope I’m wrong and that they can play well enough to win out. I’m also a realist and know that we are not that good this year.

I think that is somewhat the problem at Florida right now…and bunch of “Superstar want to be” recruits who don’t want to be coached and show it on the field when lesser players kick their rear ends because they hustle more, are well coached, and want it more than the “five star” nothings.
Look at Boise….no superstar recruits….but a lot of players who fit well in the system, are coachable, and who are very hungry….and who stay in school for 4 years and play as a team. Look at Florida….8 to 10 jrs. leave every year and you have to rebuild with a bunch of “don’t have to coach me 5 star fatheads.” Maybe 1-4 trimmed some of the fathead at Georgia and losing 3 in a row will trim the fathead at Florida. I sure hope so.

Why is it that when Georgia beats opponents in the manner that they should people on here question it ? You techies need to be worrying about your own schedule because from here on out it isn’t looking very pretty for you guys.

TampGator, I agree with you. We’ve had our experience with 5 star prima donnas that didn’t pan out. I think they come in acting like they are the best thing since sliced bread. I’d rather have those 2 and 3 star guys who are just hard nosed football players and give you 100% effort all the time..

Maybe your guys have had a humbling experience like ours and are ready to start playing the game right like the coaches tell them. Look at those UK players. None of them 5 star recruits and they just play at 100% and never give up. They impressed me last night.

Verbal Kent, I just can’t stop laughing. Did you say AJ Green wouldn’t start for SC? Get off the crack young man. I give SC a little credit for having a decent season thus far but don’t come on here trying to convince anyone that SC ever had a great football program. As a matter of fact, I don’t remember any season when SC had a good football team.
Yes I believe we have the best reciever in the country and the best decision making qb in the sec. If Mr.Richt didn’t handcuff Aaron in the 1st 4 games of the season, we would of had more wins and Aaron’s numbers would be better than most qbs in the country. If Mr.Richt turn Aaron loose the rest of the season I believe we will win out.

TampaGator,
DAWG Nation is 100% Gator fan when you play USC this year.
And you’re right about a bunch of 2 and 3 star recruits. WV has won 2 BCS bowl games recently (Sugar & Fiesta) with those recruits.

Did I go to college? I had the privilege to attend the University system of Georgia and the University of Washington. I was born in Savannah and was raised in Port Orchard Wash and Claxton Ga. After I got out of the Marines I went to Ga Southern for 2 years and then moved back west and finished at UW. I currently live in San Clemente Ca. Your pay for the next 20 years could not afford the house I own here. Check the prices of homes in San Clemente then compare them to where you live.

Patrick…
you are out there man.
The 2006 and 2008 Gators were loaded with a lot of great players…many not playing in the NFL. If the 2008 Gators didn’t have Percy Harvin…and Joe Haden….and Brandon Spikes….and many others…..they don’t win in 2006 and 2008….and some luck…as well as Tebow.
Bama doesn’t win last year without their RB….or McClain….or the many others on that team.
Florid won in 2008 not just because of Tebow….just like the didn’t lose last year because of Tebow.
….and Chris Leak was the QB and MVP in the 2006 NC game. Tebow only played 6 plays in that game.
=============================
ummm…how is Meyer doin this year without Tebow and Zook’s recruits? Nuff said

The ave price of homes in San Clemente are over 1.2 mil. I merely stated the obvious as most UGA grads cant afford to move from Ga….. much less to San Clemente Ca.

Delbert……….I have repeatedly posted my facebook account on here and am quite sure you have visited it. Let me just say…I just lost a 13 year old teacup Chihuahua a month and a half ago to a stroke. I was so distraught I paid 1400.00 for a Papillion and 900.00 for a teacup Chihuahua from a kennel in Baxley Ga and had him flown from Sav to LAX via Delta. Both are AKC and can be seen on my facebook account….would you like to have the URL or do you still remember it? But then I guess a lot of poor people spend that on dogs.

You guys are crazy if you don’t think McGarity doesn’t give Dan Mullen a call if he decides to pull the plug on Richt. They worked together at Florida for 5 years. I still can’t believe we lost to Mississippi State, but you have to respect what he’s done in Starkville. 5-2..ranked in TOP 25…and heading to a bowl game in only his second year. All of this with a quarterback who can’t throw? And oh yeah…he motivates and shows energy on the sideline. It’s not far-fetched to think he could be the next coach at Georgia.

“…we need to throw the ball more to_____” Did it ever occur to you that that receiver/tight end has to get open? Or that Murray needs to find the open receiver? You can’t throw it to ______if ______isn’t open.
“…didn’t realize that C.Thomas is such a good RB…” You haven’t kept up with the Dawgs and recruiting. I do have to wonder if Ealey and King aren’t “excelling” (consistently) because of the O line or their lack of development. Both were great HS RBs.
Playing at Kentucky…at NIGHT…is a tough assignment. I don’t think KY will be “spent”. I think they’ll be fired up and ready to play. We better be ready too…from the first minute of play, or Hartline/Cobb will eat our lunch. I think too that if we get the ball first we gotta score points and not call time outs on our first possession. Then we gotta win the turnover battle. That’s how SC lost. If we can win the turnover battle, not make “stupid” mistakes, keep it 3rd and short for the most part, run the ball/control the clock…we have a pretty good chance.

Tampagator, good to see you on blog. We were worried about you. You have humbly said what needs to be said regarding fl this year and if UGA doesn’t beat you this year, it would be very sad for GA. I still have great concern with our defense repeatedly giving up big plays against Kentucky next weekend. The type that Randall Cobb specializes in. Contain Cobb, and win Dawgs. Make sure he get hit EVERY play whether he has the ball or not! We used to call that “shadowing” the player. If not, sign the day off. Again, tampagator, glad you are ok.

It’s hard to see how we beat Auburn; and with our record against Florida, I’d say a win there seems unlikely. Kentucky is probably a toss-up, but a win there seems possible because they are bound to suffer a let down after this past weekend. A 5-6 or even 4-7 season seems possible if not probable. I hope I’m wrong. But if I’m not, we need to take a look at the whole coaching staff. We have been on a downward slide, really since Van Gorder left.

“…Kentucky is…bound to suffer a let down after this past weekend….”
I wouldn’t bet on that. I think just the opposite; that they’ll be fired up and wanting to prove they can do it two weeks in a row. Not mention, we seem to have trouble up there every time we play em at night.
The Dawgs better be ready, from the opening kickoff. Those guys can score some points if your not sound fundamentally, out of position, etc. I think our O can keep up with theirs, however. I think it’ll be a wild but close game. Might come down to a last minute score.

Not so fast! Defense still not that good. They have only beaten the “Sisters of the Poor”. I was at the game Saturday and saw them give up some long pass plays just like in the Arkansas game! These would have been touchdowns with good SEC teams. Not So Fast!
Now Aron Murray looks great! Need more Diversity on this Team! Murray has proved that white boys can run too!
