More bad news for wide receivers (updated)

(Updated Wednesday night)

For the sixth consecutive game, Georgia won’t have its full corps of wide receivers available Saturday against Tennessee.

Sophomore Marlon Brown won’t play because of a shoulder injury suffered during Georgia’s practice on Monday, coach Mark Richt said Wednesday.

That continues a string of bad news for the Bulldogs’ wide receivers.

Georgia played the first four games of the season without A.J. Green, who was suspended by the NCAA for selling his Independence Bowl jersey, and the fifth game without Kris Durham, who was sidelined with what he called a stretched nerve in his neck. Also, Tavarres King missed the first game because of a suspension for an underage-possession-of-alcohol arrest.

Durham has said he hopes and plans to play against Tennessee Saturday, but he practiced in a green non-contact jersey Tuesday and Wednesday. Richt said after Wednesday’s practice that Durham’s chances of playing Saturday are 50-50.

Brown has caught seven passes for 92 yards this season. In last week’s 29-27 loss at Colorado, he caught the first touchdown pass of his UGA career.

We’ve got like 77 tight ends to throw to don’t we ? I think we’ve thrown their way….3 maybe 4 times in 5 games…We’ll be fine………Besides, Carlton Thomas off right tackle is our go to play anyway…any down or yardage….a real crowd favorite.

You know whatmakes Georgia Tech fans more upset than anything (besides their team sucking as well)….

…is the fact that they are seeing more UGA flags, banners, shirts, jackets and hats than ever before. Dawg Nation doesn’t just jump ship when things don’t go as planned, like they are about to do when they lose 3 in a row in a few weeks.

Sorry Techies, DAwg Nation will always trump you guys. Through good times and bad.

Sanford Drive, sorry to bust your bubble but I have only seen a few rusting G tags in South Georgia since about the second week in September. The G banners and flying flags have basically disappeared. Down here we see Florida stuff and guess who is number two? No, not Tech, but Auburn. Of course, if you hurry to Cracker Barrell, there is still time to get yours.

Its funny how you uGAY pups constantly talk about Tech, but yet you always claim that we are “irrelevant” in the state. Why don’t yall concentrate on your own 1-5 season and getting yourself better. Or better yet…how bout you ignorant idiots concentrate on the character issues that have plagued your school for decades now. UF, LSU, BAMA, UGA all get Top 10 recruits EVERY YEAR. Out of those four, UGA is the only one who consistently fails miserably, the others however have won multiple national championships.

Instead of talking about Tech all the time, why dont you idiots work on yourselves, or maybe just for starters…beat SOMEONE in your conference. Your right, Tech does suck this year, but at least we can squeak out a win in our division. And don’t go talking about schedules, YALL HAVE PLAYED NOBODY except USC. Miss State lost to Jacksonville State, Colorado sucks, YOU GUYS SUCK. Do you pups realize the only win you have this season is against LOUISIANA LAFAYETTE?

I’d be keeping my mouth shut about anyone else’s team right about now and concentrate on the pitiful season you are having and how to get it better. You UGAY dawgs are a complete embarrassment to the state of Georgia with your #1 party school status that you are so ignorantly proud of. What you fail to realize is the party school status, along with the red panties, and the countless arrests, are what is keeping your football team in the dumps.

The fact is, you have NO RIGHT to talk about ANYONE with an 0-4 record in your conference, how dare you. That is just another example of the character of UGA as a school, sports organization, and fan base, ALL IGNORANT. If Tech was 1-5 right now and 0-4 in our conference, I wouldn’t be saying anything to ANYONE about their team.

One more thing……I can’t wait to see ya’ll at Sanford Stadium this year where once again the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will be leaving the field with branches of your pathetic hedges between our teeth for the 2nd time in 3 years. We suck but yall blow a FAT one, Tech wins this year in Athens to shut the worthless ignorant pups up for good and to cap off the most pathetic season, for the most pathetic people, and most pathetic excuse for a University in years.

In UGA blog room, fans do indeed talk smack about Tech. They are an in state rival whom fanbases hate, so yes, smack is talked.

In a Tech blog room, the article is usually about UGA, because of the obsession coming out of Tech “Nation” over all things Dawgs, PLUS the “fans” only talk about UGA.

UGA’s biggest problems are:
1. Strength and Conditioning Program. Too Many Injuries Too many time getting blown off the ball. The Strength and Conditioning program should also build and develop “MENTAL TOUGHNESS” It is very apparent the program is not changing and developing any kinds of toughness at all.
2. UGA’s Coaching Staff inablility to make changes during a game. Too many times I have UGA run 1 play out of 1 formation and that formation alone. UGA’s staff appears to have a wait…wait….wait approach to coaching….this is how the players are playing too.

3. UGA’s Coaching staff inability to recruit good players that are great people. I realize that college students are not going to go to Church evey Sunday and Stay in his or her room every night studying, but come on There has been too many arrest…..2 Problems UGA brings in 5 star recruits not 5 star people..also the players do not fear Richt and his passive laid back persona……

More physical practices will help both sides of the ball and a better strength and conditioning coach will prevent some of the injuries from normal contact on the football field. The whole team is too soft and need to be in pads all the way until Thursday. Too soft of a week will make for a soft team and it has been showing every week. Great job CMR. Should have been like this every week. Injuries happen and if you practice like that, your body will get used to the punishment.

Have they not already received their punishment from the team for these actions? Their is a reason you closed the comments before they started. You know it, I know it, and everyone else knows it. You would have been beat down in the comments for that piece of crap report. When is enough, enough? These are teenage kids. Do they really deserve you and your employer snooping around about their school records? This was a very shameful act by you and your employer. Am confident this is a nightmare season for all the players and something they never considered at the beginning of the season. Life is a beach after all. Just have to keep trying and putting forth the effort and hopefully good things will start to happen. Program has definitely fallen but think that CMR has at least one more year to get things fixed such that the team is competitive in all games. Believe that UGA will be better, but has a long way to go to get back to top tier status. Have to get a big, strong running back and things will look a lot better!

YES I am a RACIST. I think the SEC schools use black students for sports and money but don’t diliver an opportunity for miniorities to get a good education unless they play a sport. The SEC schools (Southern Excellent Caucasions) want White girls to get white boys to fill a stadium to watch black boys play a game. Hey, if the Asians can make some money for the school in grants then more power to them. LOOK AT THE ### SEC schools educate white kids. ACC schools give more kids of color a chance to get an education. Look at the number of PROs comes from the schools. *% football players on schooly and 15 Bball players on scholly each year but how many are playing a PRO sport?

So Tech has more students from the mid east and such.
What about that 7% vs. 6% Black thing? If the ACC is so proud of
the education it bestows upon African Americans why only 7%?
You’re argument is based on 14% more “other” and only 1% more “Black” students.
I ask, What is the point? You respond with some blather about SEC schools using their 6% for sports while claiming ACC(GT) schools do not because they have more “other” students. Do you see the confusion this may cause a reasonably educated and sober human being?

Run a 4-3 defense for the rest of the season.

Keep Murray in shotgun…get C.Thomas into space. Run wide sets to spread the field, cause we obviously cant run between the tackles…and take the handcuffs off Murray. Let him do what he does best. If we continue to keep him in the pocket, we’ll get nowhere!!!

Highly encourage the staff to implement some of the pistol formation being used by teams. We have the athletes to run it. UCF looked great last nite running it.

I agree that we have an overabundance of wealth at TE. We have a blocking TE (Figgins) we SHOULD be able to run a toss sweep.

We have Aaron White, but his tendancy to drop passes has kinda scared Aaron from throwing to him.

Murray does try to throw to Orson on every play.

Our young QB is very good and very competitive, but he cannot yet check down quickly enough to hit open recievers; be it TE’s, or WR’s. His completions have been primarily to backs and TE’s. Not enough to WR’s.
