BOULDER, Colo. – Three things gleaned from Saturday’s 29-27 loss to Colorado:
1. Georgia is fumbling away the season. Washaun Ealey barely played Saturday -– he got just one carry -– as a consequence of his critical fumbles inside the opponent’s 5-yard line in losses at South Carolina and Mississippi State. Ealey’s benching created more playing time for Caleb King, who gave Georgia its first 100-yard rusher of the season. But in the final two minutes, with Georgia well within range to kick a potentially game-winning field goal, King fumbled the ball and the game away. (Also, of course, someone should have blocked the linebacker who forced the fumble by striking King a split-second after he took the handoff on what coach Mark Richt called “as basic of a play as we’ve got.”)
2. Georgia desperately needs a full game from A.J. Green. The star wide receiver caught seven passes for 119 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another 40 yards on an end-around, but he still hasn’t played a full game in any of Georgia’s past nine regular-season games. He missed 3 ½ of the final four games last season with injuries, missed the first four games this season because of the NCAA suspension and missed much of the third quarter Saturday night with cramping. Just before he left the game, Green caught a 50-yard pass that put the Bulldogs in position to score the touchdown that gave them a 24-14 lead with 10:40 left in the third quarter. By the time he returned to the game in the fourth quarter, after getting intravenous fluids in the locker room, Georgia trailed 29-24. In the two first-quarter series that Georgia didn’t get Green the ball and the two third-quarter series he did not play, the Bulldogs combined for one first down and minus-1 yard of net offense. In the rest of the game, the Dogs had 19 first downs and 410 yards offense.
3. The defense continues to be burned by big plays. Georgia took a 24-14 lead early in the third quarter, but Colorado scored touchdowns on its next two possessions to go ahead for good. Explosive plays set up both of those TDs. A 65-yard run down the left sideline by tailback Rodney Stewart on an option pitch fueled the first of the two drives. A 46-yard pass to wide receiver Will Jefferson, who got open down the middle behind Vance Cuff, sparked the second. Making matters worse for Georgia on the latter series, Colorado tried to settle for a field goal, but a roughing-the-kicker penalty against Cuff gave the Buffaloes a first down and kept the TD drive alive. Colorado opted to take the three points off the scoreboard and quickly put on seven instead, and that proved to be the difference in a game ultimately decided by two.

Dang it Georgia! You were supposed to put the final nail in Dan Hawkin’s coffin. We hate him. How about we trade you coaches? The worst case scenario is for CU to have a semi-successful season and the powers that be keep Hawkman around until his contract is up. Despite what it may have looked like from the student section’s lame rushing of the field, this win was not a good thing for CU fans. Hawkins is the worst coach ever.

680 buck… I beg to differ. Betcha he is gone this year. I’m behind the team. But for what he is being paid, CMR IS responsible for these players actions on AND off the field! He is failing in both categories. What are we paying him to do? I would like to think he is a great role model, but based on our 10 arrests this year I can see that isn’t even happening. He has lost institutional control of this team. There needs to be a cultural change. The only way to do that is to change leadership.
I hate it because I have always been a big Richt fan, but…..

Many may disagree, but it’s not the play calling, it’s our pitiful excuse for an offensive line and O line coaching. With Green in the game, the D can’t stack the line with extra guys, so our below average line can moderately handle the D line coming at them, thus our passing and rushing is better. Greens ability masks how bad our O line is, when he’s not in the game our O line gets exposed for what it is, which is nothing. The plays called are the same plays we used when our 02 team won the SEC, but back then we had an O line that played 110 % every play and were actually good. I’m no fan nor do I hate Bobo, but come on guys pay attention to what’s actually happening on the field. Until we get an O line coach that can coach and lineman that are willing to bust their a$$ on every play it won’t matter who our O coordinator is. I hold Richt completely responsible for this.

CMR is not going anywhere – what can he do about RB’s that can’t hold on to the ball? They get coached on how to carry the rock….when they drop it it’s on them, not the coach. The D was going to be a work in progress this year – we knew that. What we didn’t know is that we would have players that would not llive up to the standards that UGA football has been known for. Best line iin the country – hogwash. Great RB tandem – compared to who? Great receivers? Not when they are on suspension and then can’t play a full game. Heck, the weak link on the offense was supposed to be Murray and he’s turned out to be the bright spot! This year is a rebuilding year – we need to realize that now and just swallow our obviously wrong expectations for this team. It’s not going anywhere and it is going to be a rough season for UGA this year. Hopefully we can plant the seeds for a better season next year. Enjoy the games win or lose (mostly lose sad to say as it looks now) and let the expectations go, people. This team is in full rebuilding mode right now – maybe we can take some satisfaction in an upset here or there. Pass the popcorn.

In football nowadays, you essentially have 2 head coaches (1 on offense and 1 on defense) and a manager. We have to give Grantham a chance to develop this defense and recruit for it. On the offense – Bobo gotta gogo! And some others with him. As for management – it is just not getting done. Winning and losing are entirely on the shoulders of the manager. We are losing. We will probably continue to lose. This is the result of what we began to see several years ago when we couldn’t blow out anybody and struggled to beat teams like Vandy + KY in conference and GA Southern etc. Now, we are below mediocrity – we are poor. Fire Richt. Clean house now so the rebuild can begin before the program is too far gone.

Let us not forget how bad the almighty Tide was just 4 years ago, I will give Bama credit and Saban for the past two seasons. But they hadn’t exactly done a lot for about 10 years before the 08 season. Which I suppose just reinforces just how important the right Head Coach and positions coaches are to a team. I think Richt’s a great man and yes, he’s won a lot of games, but he hasn’t won the games that have mattered. In my job, it’s great that I do 8 or 9 things perfect every year, but if I continued to not meet expectations on 1 or 2 goals every year, I would have been fired already. I’m sure all of you know the 1 or 2 goals I’m talking about. Beating Florida at least 50% of the time and winning that one other game we should every year to give us a chance. It’s coaching, coaching, coaching. The fact that UGA is UGA and we’re in the SEC means we’re going to above average athletes that should be able to be coached.

Just because we go to “a” bowl game every year doesn’t mean that’s where our sights should end. UGA is regarded as a top rank school and they fans (obviously) expect nothing but championships every year. It’s a serious dilemma but that’s the way it is ever year, just like at Bama if next year (or even this year) they don’t bring home a NC it will be looked at as a dissappointing year because of the talent they have on the field which is the same talent you will find at any SEC school (including vandy ha). Therefore it comes down to coaching. It always comes down to coaching the players and keeping them focused clearly Mark Richt hasn’t accomplished that. Mark Richt is gone folks….

This team has been unfocused and undisciplined all year. The players exhibit an attitude of disrespect. They don’t respect rules, others, or the game. They are self-centered and all of this shows in the results thus far. If you recorded last nights game watch what happens when UGA runs on the field for the second half. As the cheerleaders run out next to the team, #81 reaches down and grabs a big handful of butt from one of the UGA cheerleaders! Funny? Innocent? I don’t know, but, I know that if I were running on the field on national TV in a game my team had to win, I would have more discipline than that. But, this type of behavior is typical of today’s Georgia team.

Rebuilding is an excuse for losing in college football. Every team loses somewhere around 25% of their players evcery year. Also there is never an excuse for 2 of those years in a row. 680 is delusional Richt hasn’t acheived since Van Gorder left, still plenty of talent headed to the NFL from UGA yet Richt can’t get them to perform while they are here. Richt won in down years in the SEC and that was before Meyer was at UF and Saban was at AL. He is no where near their levels as a coach.

Ah Tim, if it were only so simple for writers, who never take action, to critisize those on the field, taking the risks.
Not as simple as blaming Ealey or King. This game was lost because of a combination of factors: defense, missed field goal, poor red zone execution, fumble, etc.
It’s funny to me to watch the writers/theorists/critics philosophize about ways to fix things, and never get in the arena.

Time to play alot of freshmen!!! This team needs to prove we will play freshmen so we can recruit this year!!! But that want really matter because we recruit well then don’t play them for about 2 years!! By that time they have lost 2 much confidence. Bobo U R outta here!!!Guaranteed!!! RIcht only chance u have is beat Florida!!! Is Green the only player we can throw a quick pass? King can make some of the same plays if we throw it quick to him!!! Marlon Brown highly recruited but he can’t seem to play but a couple of plays!! It is obvious our play makers are wide receivers!! So that tells me we go 5 wide and run short, medium, and go routes!!! If they get pressure we throw it short. If we have time we throw to whoever is open!!! If nobody is open then Murray take off!!! I thought we run a 3-4 defense? There is 4 down linemen on every play just different guys!!! We still are not moving around before the snap to confuse the offense!!! The linebackers play sucks!!! Where is Ogeltree? Give him a chance!!! Rambo hasn’t been the same since the Auburn game last year when he got hurt!!! We need to run a 3-5-3 defense that way we can protect the middle of the field!!!

At this point in the season, the defense should be playing better. If the starters can’t get it done, put them on the bench. The personal fouls hurt and he should have been pulled. We have other players on the sideline waiting to play and they should be given the chance. The players being out of position is getting old. If they can’t get it right, bench them and play someone else. Also, we need a rover on the defense to spy on the QB and up front we need to get stronger. The OL still is not playing well and we need to try new combinations. We have concluded that we need a new offensive staff, so there’s no need to continue to criticize them, because it doesn’t seem like it’s going to get any better. We’ll see what the off season holds for coaching changes, but I am a Dawg, win or lose, but I do know when it is time for a change.

Go ahead and get a new coach but it will take 4 yrs to fix this. Your offenseive line cannot block to save their lives (go back to ala and ark game!! num 54 a bowl of jelly D Tackle whipped our line all game long. On Ingram’s 54 yard td their guard stood him up and turned him like a door knob ingram td) we could not block him. the corners are so weak. It is all they can do to just run with recievers, let alone make a play on the ball. this my brothers happen every single game you will see it next week. Our program is in way worse shape than any of us really know….sigh! Those highly ranked, highly regarded recruiting classes the last 4 yrs were actually between 30 or 40th best. It is as simple as this. With the amount of NFL talent in Ga and no real instate recruiting competion UGA should be a much better team. UGA gets 9 out of 10 guys they go head to head against Tech for. The state of Florida does have more NFL talent however they fight for recruits between UF, Miami, and FSU. Alabama(the state) has a lot less NFL talent than UGA and have bigger recruting battle with Auburn than UGA has with Tech, yet U of A achieves much more success. Texas and California also have a lot of football talent however they compete between Texas Tech, A &M, Texas, Oklahoma, OK State, TCU and others for those players. In California you have competition between USC, UCLA, Stanford, Oregon, Oregon State and others for those players. If UGA can keep 90% of there players in state and get a real coach to coach them they should be a top 10 team every year. Talent has hidden Richt’s Coaching inability for years.

Right now if you are running the team like a business as Richt has frequently professed in the past, the first recovery step is to embrace the failure. You have to acknowledge that your personnel are not performing, your management style/business strategy is failing, and significant and fundamental changes must be made. Failure to acknowledge failure and make changes, continuing to wistfully hope for improvements and issue pugnacious bromides about hard work, will only assure them of continued failure.

Not sure I agree with Richt on benching Ealey, Ealey fumbled near goal-line, giving 110% effort. Unless you want a scapegoat.
I guess, to be fair, Richt will have to bench King now, sinc ehe had a late fumble that cost Georgia a game, and let Ealey play the whole game now.

SEC teams have lost to Northwestern, UConn, Jacksonville State, and Colorado this year. One of our more storied members was taken into overtime by UAB. Can we put the SEC supremacy crap to rest? I am a Georgia fan, not a Florida or Alabama or Auburn or Tennessee fan. Georgia doesn’t need glory by association, it needs to get better and start kicking some rear ends.
And don’t avoid scheduling Pac 10 and Big XII teams just because they beat us the past two years. Scheduling the Charleston Southerns of the world doesn’t help you get better, it just artificially inflates your W-L record. God, this program has gotten so lame since the Dooley years. 2002 is looking like an aberration.

Hey Macclenny man,
Our recruiting s$$ks unless you are talking about bring thugs into the program—we are good at that. If our recruiting has been so great then how come our program has been on the decline for the last 4-5 years. I know everyone wants to blame it on the coaches but we don’t get top talent anymore. We do get some good athletes but what we need are some good FOOTBALL PLAYERS because these good athletes we get are not very good football players. Our decline started about the same time Van Gorder left because he had a good eye for good football talent. I will say that BOBO needs to go.

First, to those who do not say we do not have players, that is crazy. Our defense has played well up until 3rd down. On 3rd down, we are terrible. Maybe our scheming and play calling or poor execution.
As far as the offense, if Boise can win with average players, so can UGA. If we would stop trying to chunk the ball down field on every pass play and mix in some short passes to aid our lack luster running game, then I think you would see a huge improvement.
Green is important because, as the whole world can tell, BOZO has built our entire offense around him. That is flawed. It is a team game. AJ, for all the amazing plays he made Saturday, could not win the game alone.
I think the players are there, we just need to develop them and we need a better game plan. The problem is that game plans are established in the off season or off weeks. We do not have one until Tech.

I’ve always liked and respected UGA. Worked @ UGA all summer, which created an even stronger pull for UGA. But, there are some issues with the program. Look at programs that are winners year in and year out. Look at my Tide before Saban came in. Saban not only creates an air of high expectations (not necessarily wins since doing your job and finishing the game takes care of that), but responsibility in the classroom (McElroy is a Rhodes Scholar candidate and many are working on their masters degrees), weightroom (even the kicker Foster is ripped), and less trouble outside of the practice field and classroom.
I like Coach Richt, and as a Christian, I hate people attacking him for his faith. It is a cheap shot actually. But, I don’t see a great deal of control over the program. I hope, for him, that he has not lost control of the program. If so, it will take someone else to come in and get it back.

Richt has no one to blame but himself. He delayed firing Willie by at least two years, and has allowed an incompetent buffon named Bobo to be his offensive coordinator. After he ran out of Donnan’s players, he has won nothing of note. 2007 was two lucky plays during the Vandy game. No fumble by Vandy late in the game and no #2. Searels started out pretty good but hanging around Richt has ruined him the past few years. Richt has no clue and is not in the same galaxy as Saban or Myer in coaching ability. In the last several years he has let the program slip below the level of Donnan to the level of Goff, with no prospects of improvement. His discipline heretofore has been a joke. Think Vince Dooley would tolerate this? He is paid a handsome salary and accomplished nothing since Donnan’s residual talent. What are you getting for your money, Bulldog fans? Nothing but embarassment and ridicule from the rest of your SEC peers. In all probability, UGA’s record will be 6-6 or 5-7, at best, and perhaps worse. Do you want to keep on with this or do you want to do what you need to do to again become a winning, competitive program? It’s up to you.

A simple slo-mo replay of the last drive clearly shows this was no flea flicker play. Caleb even had the ball, there was not an exchange issue. There was no doubt a blocking issue, the colorado defender was unaccounted for in what seemed to be a simple base defense. Dog lineman picked him up at the last minute and tried to adjust, but not in time. Wasn’t a matter of being beaten at the line of scrimmage. It was as if Fate had determined we were going to lose this game. If nothing else, this loss polarizes our weaknesses. We have to get off the field on 3rd down. Anything less than 3rd and 15 now and I’m cringing. Blair Walsh has to make the chip shots. Our backs don’t have break away speed, so find a way to get them on the edges. Instead of “blindly” calling up the middle running plays to “set up” the play action, we need some innovative play calling that exploits what the defense is giving us. Colorado’s use of the quick toss against our over pursuing aggressive defense was an excellent example of this. I didn’t see two of the three personal fouls against Cuff, but in reality, none of us should have seen the third becuase he should have been on the bench. Hatts off to Aaron Murray, the kid is freakishly good. AJ showed up big time, sorry to see him go next year. I’ve just never seen anything like that kid. I thought the LSU catch was the best I ever saw…this one takes the cake. Nowhere to go but up from here. I saw good effort…for those hating on Rambo…looked like he played hard and wrapped up to me. Boise don’t have ave players. There players are way above ave but most important is that their coaches don’t recruit good athletes they recruit good football, players. Their QB was a 1 star player because he is not the tallest, doesn’t have the strongest arm and he is not the fastest runner but he is a GOOD FOOTBALL PLAYER who knows how to play QUARTERBACK. They have 2 NFL wide receivers & they have an offensive line that knows how to block,so overall their offense is better then ours.

As bad as it looks UGA is only 3 fumbles from 4-1.
.
UGA is an LSU victory over Fla and a Fla loss to UGA in Jax from being ahead of the gaytors in the SEC East race.
.
SC lost to Auburn and needs only lose to Fla and one other SEC foe (divisional) and UGA has the tie breaking nod over both.
.
This is not that far fetched as The Gaytors suck (as demonstrated by the curb punching they took from ALA and the 26 total yards in 3 quarters against Miami of Ohio) and SC cant win out….they dont have the talent or depth (as demonstrated by barely beating UGA and losing to Aub).
.
So with a three way tie at the top and UGA only having one in division loss (SC) and SC having two division losses (one being to Fla) UGA gets the SEC east nod to play in the SEC title against LSU (ALA looked good Sat (but it was against Fla) but barely beat and needed to come from behind to beat a team that barely beat and needed a fumble to beat UGA)

Patrick, let’s not sugar-coat the issue. When you say that the Dawgs are 3 fumbles away from 4-1, you forget about the fumbles that the opponents have had as well. Miss St. threw an interception inside the 15…SC turned it over inside the 25 (the reason why we had the ball in the first place when Ealey fumbled). You can’t count our fumbles without mentioning the mistakes that the other teams have had as well. If you do, then you realize that fumbles are far from our only problem.
I love UGA, but let’s get our heads out of the clouds and stop thinking about how we can still win the East. That kind of thinking is what got us here in the first place.

The biggest issue here is the players – they either are not capable of or not willing to play at the level necessary to win right now – there is nothing wrong with the defensive schema or coaching – it worked fine for the Dallas Cowboys – the players just either don’t know it well enough yet or aren’t capable of playing it well. As for the offense they moved the ball pretty well with a freshman quarterback and Green is absurd. The running backs are not explosive and the o-line run blocking is poor. The team missed a field goal, threw an interception in the end zone and fumbled going for another score. These are NOT things that a coach can change or fix – they simply CANNOT. So, while it’s on the coaches that these players are on the team and playing in these positions it’s not on them to execute for the players – right now they are finding ways to lose (and losing confidence) instead of finding ways to win. We said the same thing in early 2007 and by the end of the year we had the best team in all of college football – this year is worse but it’s on the players 80%+, not the coaches.

It is bad now because I really think that all of the big running backs are going to go to Alabama and Auburn and LSU now——I mean —you just cannot compete in the SEC with a game plan that does not involve running over people—Georiga has backs that slide into the line sideways —-what in the hell? seriously, UGA is two ealy (inside the 6) fumbles and one King fumble from 4-1. I dont think there is much missing. Just need a tweek or two. Nothing major. 3 balls bouncing our way this season and we are 4-1 and ranked top 15. Not rocket science folks. People who look only at the record get a little confused and I understand this….but if you ever actually played or watched a game you see that a subtle difference here or there at this level is all that is needed. Patrick…Please don’t make assumptions. I played football for 11 years. Middle-school through college (albeit a smaller school). To say that we are “3 balls bouncing our way” is the only thing keeping us from 4-1 is missing the forest for the trees. If you can erase one team’s mistakes but allow the other’s then fine…I would agree. The problem is, you can’t. Our opponents made mistakes as well. So, you have to take those things out of the equation. The O-line, which was supposed to be one of the best in college football, has been sup-par at best. The defense is giving up big plays. Murray hasn’t been bad, but has shown the obvious signs of being a freshman. Missed fieldgoals, botched punt coverages, stupid and costly penalties due to mental lapses…all of these things lead to losses.
I love UGA more than anybody possibly could, but I am also realistic. We need to get our heads out of the clouds and concentrate on getting better at fundamentals…only then will we start winning again.

Does anybody ever analyze what went wrong, or ask tough questions?
1. My dead grandma knew Richt would run it up the middle with 1:56 to go, setting up for another Walsh miss from longer range than his earlier miss. My dead grandma. Colorado called timeout and ran a defense that just destroyed that play. That led to a fumble. A bad offensive playcall that was so predictable that it was destroyed. Fault? Mark Richt.
2. How in the world do you decide to take a delay of game penalty from your OWN 45 before a punt? Butler, who is slumping badly, didn’t even punt the ball to the opponent’s 20. That is freakish. That is bizarre. That is STUPD. Fault? Mark Richt.
3. How do you commit a roughing the passing penalty when you held them on 3rd down? How do you commit a roughing the kicker on a missed field goal? Those plays were critical. Undisciplined, stupid football. Fault? Mark Richt.
4. Conclusion? FIRE MARK RICHT.

Patrick, those are the dumbest comments I have seen in awhile. We were destroyed by SC and Miss St. We were beaten straight up by Col and Ark. Any team in America can say “if we didn’t ever make a mistake, we would be undefeated.” That is brilliant. The real issue is, why are the mistakes so devestating? Because there is no margin for error because we stink so bad. Alabama could fumble 5 times in a 31-6 game and still beat a good Florida team. We fumble once and it’s over. Give me a break.

Patrick,
It seems as though John Chavis turned around a sorry LSU defense…AND did it in one year. If you think that the 3-4 is the fix for all that ails our D, then ok. I guess tackling isn’t that important.
So to sum up:
1. Not much stood between us and 4-1 except three losses (due to a number of reasons.)
2. Defense will be ok just needs timing…you just made my point. We will get back to greatness but it will take time…not this year.
3. AJ hurt us more than any other player on the field due to his “mental lapse” by missing the first 4 games.
4. You never will get the picture, but will remain the kind of UGA fan that we don’t need.
Keep smokin’ it if you’ve got it bud. Later

defense needs tuning….not timing
.
I didnt say the 3-4 was better or worse. I said we dont have the personnel for a 3-4 as we recruited for a 4-3 for years. Dont you read?
.
Again, 3 fumbles away from 4-1 is a “tuning” issue not a “firing the HC” issue.
.
I dont believe you honestly think that simply because we didnt have AJ because of a mental lapse and not being on the team for the first 4 games, that it will affect our play the rest of the year…is that your logic?. HE IS BACK NOW. The Offense will be fine.

Hopefully CMR can get this train back on the tracks and can get a W next Saturday. Should be an entertaining game and maybe things come together for a complete game. I thought there was improvement on both O and D but Colorado deserved the win as they kept fighting and played every down. This team has to keep trying and play through this adversity and hopefully get things turned around. Remember the sports writer from Orlando said UGA was no better than 61st at the beginning of the season. I thought he was crazy, but as it turns out, he was way ahead of us!

They want to forget it but I remember it well. Why the UGA fans think every sucessful coach in the country is falling all over themselves to coach in Athens is ludicrous. Remember people CMR was not UGA’s first choice, Nor was Donnan. Some very good coaches turned it down. How soon we forget!

The kids in Athens have no respect for the coaches, the team, themselves, or the uniform they wear. If they did, we would not see the issues that happen off the field.
If there was a fight at WACO when Tomberlin was there, you were more likely to get hurt by a ballplayer running away from the fight so as to not be around it than you were by any stray punches being tossed. They knew that if they got in any trouble, they were off the team. They had a known set of rules and obeyed them. They had discipline and respect and this was at a High School Level!

I kind of agree with the though that Richt seems preoccupied or at least distracted. I just know what I’ve seen and as his religion has been more outward it seems like he has lost his grip on the brass tacks of coaching. Those group motivational speeches on the sideline with the entire team seem desperate and misguided. If a kid can’t get motivated in an SEC game in front of 90,000 fans then a quick “win one for the Gipper” speech is useless. I think he’s gone soft in his pursuit of a stronger faith.

Much as I hate to say this, but, CMR has lost control of his team, and his players have no respect for him or his assistants. It’s time for a drastic change and that starts at the top. Richt is as fine a person as you’d ever know, but there’s no fire in him. PMA and GMc needs to bite the bullet on Nov. 28 and do what needs to be done. Trouble is, now we have to pay CMR through 2016…who came up with THAT contract?

McGarity should start emptying house with the recruiters. There is a lot going on there, signed up buffoons and saying they are ’star’ athletes. Clean house of all current recruiters. Heck, just go to a few competent high schools, look for good players with clean records. How complicated is that? I doubt anything will be done to the coaching staff, I would like to see the fans bring water balloons just for the coaches. Now, THAT would be fun.

These idiots blaming Richt’s religion are pitiful. Richt’s biggest problem is probably he really does care about his teams atheletes and he thinks he can make a difference in their lives. Actually what todays atheletes need are prison wardens, not coaches. Most atheletes today are pampered thugs who are glorified and promoted through their school years because they can play a childrens game while at the same time they can’t even write a legible sentence. They have no restraint, no discipline, no education and no morals and it is all OK in our society because they can play a sport. Who cares if they most of them can’t even function in society just as long as they entertain us, right? The only ones to blame for the way these people act are ourselves since we will ignore everything about them just as long as we have something to watch on Friday nights and on our televisions.

I watched the game and King’s fumble was set-up by #78 on UGA’s offensive line – Josh Davis missed his block and the Colorado defender was in our backfield on top of King almost before he got the ball. Yes, our coaches need to “coach them up” but the offense is a seasoned one and needs to motivate themselves to get their butts in gear and get their jobs done – no excuses!

Take a look at the stats, fellas. Florida actually out-gained Bama. They just bumbled it away at the goal line time and time again. Kinda like the dawgs. It sux, but there’s not much a coach can do about that. Maybe fumbling drills and some mile runs when Washy puts it on the ground…….

Ga. football fans need not get upset with the way things are going. You should have enough football savy to realize the Ga. football team is composed of mediocre football players who can’t run with the other SEC teams. Just accept the fact they aren’t the caliber players our recruiters thought they were. So, let them play out their time, Richt knows this but he won’t go public with it because it will make his recruiters look foolish and completely demoralize the “team”.

Guess what, we have a bunch of morons running the football program. Anyone without mental retardation can see the same stuff week in and week out. the same mistakes, the same failed game plan, the same flawed fundamentals. The same delusional, borderline insane head coach. The same lack of preparation.. the same lack of intensity. The same mental mistakes. The same penalties and wild, undisciplined play. @ Terry Trippe – Your post may be one of the most unreasonable I’ve seen in this thread… and that’s saying A LOT! You talk about Richt and “his recruiters” like he has no control over recruiting at UGA. Heck, man, he is the head recruiter. Your logic is very difficult to comprehend.
@ Party school – I like your question. At what point should coach Richt be relieved of his duties? What is your standard for UGA’s head coach? Is 6-6 good enough? 5-7? 4-8? Does he get at least another year, regardless of this year’s record? Does he have tenure? As a quality individual, you can’t ask for much more than Mark Richt, but we all have a job to do, and there comes a point where your ineffectiveness at your chosen profession overrides your generic qualities as a fine human being.

The onus is on the defense. Surprisingly the offense even though it has glaring weaknesses has scored enough points to win in most of the games so far. Like last year it is the defense that has shown that it cannot shut down the opponent. Obviously we lack talent on that side of the ball. The recruits have turned out to not be the caliber they were thought to be. The defensive side of the ball could take several years to reverse. Don’t forget that pre-Saban Alabama had a number of years in the doldrums.

Caleb fumbled all by himself. He needed no help.
Yes AL S#cked 4 years ago. Even though Shula went 10-2 in 2006 after a 6-7 finish in 2007, he was fired. The reason most often cited was that he did not beat AU. (What is Richt’s record against FL?. AL hired Saban and went to the SEC championship game in 2009 and last year won the National Championship. It is likely they will have another in 2011.
GA schools produce more talent than AL high schools. I believe that if we had a Saban or a Meyer, we would be competing for championships instead of cursing a 1-4 record.
I don’t think people can seperate the man, Richt from the coach Richt. Just because he is a “ggod man” does not make him a good coach. He is mediocre at best.
UGA has the $$ to spend. Let us part with Richt and hire someone who can win consistently and can compete with or better yet dominate FL.

The real scrutiny on Richt will begin on Saturday vs Tennessee. This game to the alumni and the administration is huge. It is not another MSU game or some SC thing or even Arkansas. The four losses in a row have changed all of the rules, as far as job security for CMR.
If young Dooley comes home and spanks UGA like last year or two year ago………..I suspect that Richt could be in jeopardy right then and there. This will create a long time swelling up emotional thing with the fans and Dr Adams, having to do with Vince Dooley. Adams will feel the heat. Ad McGarity also wants to win this game. UT and Florida were HUGE games and he viewed them for 18 years as assist. AD in Gainseville. Now at UGA, he does not want to lose.
The alumni will simly not tolerate this anymore. You see, 2009 after MS and NM was the yewar to rebuild and we had that 8-5 thing. Oh no, 2010 is not supposed to be another rebuilding year.
Lose badly to Tenessee and it will really accelerate the losing. Richt would resign at year’s end or near to the last game or two. If UGa were to allow him yet ANOTHER YEAR TO REBUILD, and if we at this same time next year are say 3-2 or sommething like that, it would be a disaster.
No, pull the plug now on Mark Richt’s era …………..it is time.

Obviously, this season, so far, is terrible……and the buck stops with the head coach. But besides the obvious problems with this team, there are some underlying problems over the last several years that are not be talked about very much. We are not winning enough of the big games, we are not beating the teams like Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, Alabama, LSU on a consistently regular basis in order to be a consistent SEC power. We do have some championships in the last 10 years, but with the resources we have, we should be in that upper echelon every year and be an annual contender for the SEC championship. I believe one of the keys to that level lies with the assistant coaching staff, and it seems that CMR might have made some better choices in those areas.

Hell you all are slow crackers. We are 5-0 and we are working behind the scenes to try and bring in Harbaugh from Stanford. Les Miles sucks as an SEC coach, he’s twice as good as Richt and we are trying to get rid of him. Maybe you Dawg Pups can take our leftovers and grab up Miles. We heard earlier Georgia might be interested but get real if offered BOTH jobs where do you think he would go? Dawggie cemetery in Athens or the Baton Rouge where we recruit top 5 classes every yr. You all better find you a real coach or you will be in the bottom half of the SEC with Vandy & Ole Miss. You all will lose to Tennessee, Florida and Auburn so thats 5-7 and the only bowl you will see is your empty dog bowl….get a coach and coach up your players, NOT coaching them DOWN or else maybe try to get in the ACC where it is a lot easier.

I would like to see any one of you so called ’sports experts’ get out there and throw a 40 yard pass, or tackle some 300 lb men. Even if we aren’t that great right now, these season’s have to happen. Yeah, it sucks, but we have to get through the sucky to get to the great seasons. It’s called a REBUILDING year for a reason. We have to start at the bottom and work our way up. You critics need to learn a little thing called faith. Faith in your team, faith in you players, and faith in your coaches. Mark Richt has done an excellent job the past 10 years, and I don’t think that when the tough gets going you need to get trigger happy with the firing squad. Just calm down, put everything in perspective, and show up to cheer on your Dawgs. They NEED our support at times like these, not our HATE and criticism.
