BOULDER, Colo. – What Georgia players had to say after their latest loss, 29-27 to Colorado here Saturday night:
Wide receiver A.J. Green on being 1-4: “It’s tough. I’ve never been 1-4 in my life. We’re going to stay together, and we’re going to keep fighting.”
Green on why he left the game in the third quarter: “I was just cramping. A lot of cramping.”
Quarterback Aaron Murray on Caleb King’s fumble in final two minutes: “I don’t know where the guy [defender] came from. I handed the ball off, and it just came out. That’s pretty much how it happened. You can’t blame Caleb King for that. It just happens sometimes. You have to make sure you pick that guy up and he comes out and has a great week at practice.”
Murry on Green’s leaping, one-handed touchdown catch in the second quarter: “That was unbelievable. No other receiver in the nation can make that catch. That was special right there. To go up and catch it with one arm, and bring it down with only one arm, it’s pretty unbelievable.”
Defensive end Demarcus Dobbs on being 1-4: “There’s going to be frustration. We’re Georgia. We never expect ourselves to get four losses. Or lose to the teams we have lost to. We just have to push ahead, and we cannot give up on each other. All we have is each other. We have to watch film, keep grinding and finish the season out, hopefully on a high note.”
Dobbs on the mentality in the locker room: “We just lost a game. Everyone is pretty much down; we thought we were going to come in and ruin their party and get a victory. We thought we were a better team. We didn’t represent Georgia well. We didn’t represent the SEC well. Only people we have to blame are ourselves. We need to watch film, see what we need to correct and make those adjustments, and stick together. We have to be accountable for each other and not give up on the season.”
Dobbs on the fumble on the final drive: “I thought it was a shoo-in; that’s how comfortable I was [about winning the game]. I put my helmet down. I was ready to run on the field and celebrate. But it didn’t happen that way. We made a fatal mistake, and that type of stuff needs to be corrected. We cannot turn the ball over at the end of the game. It felt like death to me. We have to keep grinding and support each other.”
– From transcript provided by Colorado of post-game player interviews.

It was NOT a flea flicker; it was a standard, up the middle run play…
“I don’t know where the guy [defender] came from. I handed the ball off, and it just came out. That’s pretty much how it happened. You can’t blame Caleb King for that…”
‘as basic of a play as we’ve got’
The problem was the line letting the guy come through and bust the play. The defender hit Caleb just as the hand-off was being made.
All you Sunday Morning QBs are just brilliant. Fire Coach Richt? If yall were Penn St or Texas or even Flawduh fans, you’d be wanting to fire their coaches too (I won’t even mention Les Miles). ALL programs go through down times. Bear Bryant and Joe Pa have had down times. With “fans” like some of you here those two greats never would have made it. CMR’s record proves he can coach. To suggest he doesn’t have “fire” or “desire” or to suggest the players aren’t “in shape” (ad nausea) just shows your ignorance. No telling how many recruits we’ll lose if they read these posts from so-called fans who are ready to fire a good head coach. We’d be starting all over again…with another two or three years adjustment/rebuilding. You have no idea if Smart or Muschamp (or anybody else) would want to give up what they have and come to UGA. If Texas has the same kind of “fans”, Mack Brown could be a choice.
Yes, the Dawgs are down right now. Yes, it’s sickening and disheartening; even disgusting in some ways. But to suggest I know more about what “needs to be done” is the epitome of ignorance and arrogance. Yes, they need to play smarter; not make mistakes; not be out of position on defense; block better; protect the ball better; tackle better…and on and on. Heck, I’m not so sure about this 3-4 defense being installed when all the defenders have played all their lives is a 4-3. Going in, we knew we had a freshman, inexperienced QB. But, I think CMR has the ability to straighten out this ship.
Goooo Dawgs! Get ready to beat the Vols!

Party School: Absolutely not! Murray is doing very well for a guy that has been thrown in with no playing experience. He will be a great quarterback and by the end of this season, no matter how it turns out, we will all be very impressed with him. I’m saying that Murray should have had playing time last year and perhaps that experience could have helped this team. NO blame on Murray at all for this mess. And maybe I’m wrong all together. I have followed UGA football since I was 5 years old. I’m now 48. We held family season tickets up until about 13 years ago. I then bought my own for 3 years until I married (again) and could not afford them. Hey, I would buy them again even with a team that loses every game. I love UGA. Went to school there, worked in Athens for 5 years as well. It just looks like the same problems that we have had for quite some time are now the same problems that a young team is unable to overcome. We will not have AJ next year. So what happens next season if these same problems remain? I like Coach Richt, always have. But now I am beginning to wonder about his abilities to control the team and change this behavior. This loss is not about one fumble at the end of the game. We should have put this game to bed in the second quarter but were unable to.
Once again, GO DAWGS

Not a hater. Love my Dawgs and always will! However, from a dollars and cents perspective, we are not getting the return on investment for the millions we are paying our coaches. Face it… Richt is a great man, and I will always deeply respect him. However, he has obviously been unable to inspire this team that not only cannot manage to win on the field, but cannot even live up to a higher moral and ethical standard that Richt espouses on a consistent basis off the field. I can handle not winning. I can handle the occasional player indiscretion, after all these are young men. However, the fact the fact that we can’t win on or off the field tells me there is something culturally wrong with this program. Ten arrests, really? Something is seriously wrong!!!!! The sooner we begin a wholesale change environment, the sooner we can get better.

I feel bad for Aaron Murray. Man does that kid have talent. The unfortunate part is that he has NO offensive line to assist him and a Offensive Coordinator who thinks we have the same personnel as Alabama and can run it up the middle15 times a quarter.
Last week I thought McGarity would give Richt a pass for 2010, but the way things are going I’m not so sure. If we lose to Tech, all bets are off and Richt may very well lose his job.

First UGA game was in 1959. Went to Sanford Stadium with my grandfather and his brother. I was about 10. Wally Butts was then the UGA coach and UGA then for the most part was on hard times, although they made the 59 or 60 Urange Bowl vs MIssouri and won it and UGA QB Larry Rakestraw passed for record that stood until recently.
A loss on Saturday will put this UGA team in the class of the horrible, horrible UGA teams of the late 50s or early 60s. If UGA loses to Tennessee and Dereck Dooley that will cause an emotional outburst by all UGA grads my age. They will not like losing because Tennessee slaughtered UGA last year and now with Dooley, it would be doubly worse. If that happens you all will not believe the massive out cry for these coaches all ………all to be fired on the spot.
Mark Richt is dreaming if the thinks that he will coach in 2011. Why? What will make such a change in 2011 that it will be all in the past? Will the UGA O and D lines be better?? Nope. Will the UGA linebackers and D backs be able to play with out cheap shots??? Will UGA running backs be better. No, UGA’s 2011 running backs now are non existant. Non existant they are. OH yeah, ealey if he is not in prison will be a junior. AAAHAHAHAHAHA he too will be gone.
AJ will be gone. Obviously, if he is out, then UGA plays like scared girls.
UGA needs to fire richt now and get a group of former UGA players to take the helms until they can hire a professional staff in December or January.

ITS NOT RICHTS FAULT!
Many people don’t know this but UGA cant just let anybody it wants in to play football because its not like high school when anyone can go. At UGA the principal has to let them in and UGAs school classes are very hard so not all of the players Coach Richt wants can come to play. Other schools are much easier to get into, but UGA is like the Ivee league schools (those expensive northern schools like harvard, yale and rutgers), where the acadeamic classes are very hard. As long as UGAs acadeamic classes are are this hard and our principal doesn’t make it easier for the football players to get in, it will make it really hard for us to win our 6th National Championship. I am not saying it is impossible, just hard. GO DAWGS!

Last night a Florida fan asked me what has happened to our program. I struggled to answer that question, but after contemplating it for a while I said the following:
1. We clearly having a coaching issue. UGA has put more players in the NFL over the last 10-15 years than any program in the country. We are clearly recruiting talent, but we’re not maximizing that talent on the field.
2. Our superstars are leaving after their junior year making National Championship runs extremely difficult. The number of outstanding players who have left for the NFL after three years at UGA is jaw dropping. It’s impossible to win a National Championship when core members bolt for the rest of the team can mature around them.
3. We’re not recruiting enough players who can play through adversity.
4. Mark Richt coddles his players. When I found out Richt got after Grantham for dressing down his players in the first game I was extremely disappointed. That’s precisely the type of coaching we need with these over-hyped players.
5. Rodney Garner is not a good coach, period.

These folks can see what’s wrong with Georgia, the fans just won’t admit it.
Tyler Hansen’s hustle stumps Bulldogs
The running ability of Colorado`s starting quarterback Tyler Hansen somehow escaped Georgia coaches in their preparation for Saturday`s game.
Georgia coach Mark Richt acknowledged after the Buffs` 29-27 victory that Hansen`s ability to make plays with his feet caused his defense problems. Hansen helped the Buffs continue their strong performance on third downs. The Buffs converted seven of 15 third-down opportunities.
“He was a big problem,” Richt said. “… I can`t think of how many times that he was the difference in them moving the chains in a third-down situation. His ability to run, break tackles and keep plays alive. Later in the game, he did a lot of great things.”

first, Bobo is an idiot, he is a terrible OC but its not his fault, he had never been an OC before, his experience is very shallow! its the fault of Richt who hired him as OC. Richt made terrible mistakes by hiring mediocre assistants like Martinez and Bobo. the only excellent assitant Georgia had is Brian Van Gordon. Dawg nation dont you fool yourself, our program is heading into darkness and beyond repair. what a difference between Georgia and Alabama, what a difference between Georgia and the new Auburn.
