BOULDER, Colo. – What Georgia players had to say after their latest loss, 29-27 to Colorado here Saturday night:
Wide receiver A.J. Green on being 1-4: “It’s tough. I’ve never been 1-4 in my life. We’re going to stay together, and we’re going to keep fighting.”
Green on why he left the game in the third quarter: “I was just cramping. A lot of cramping.”
Quarterback Aaron Murray on Caleb King’s fumble in final two minutes: “I don’t know where the guy [defender] came from. I handed the ball off, and it just came out. That’s pretty much how it happened. You can’t blame Caleb King for that. It just happens sometimes. You have to make sure you pick that guy up and he comes out and has a great week at practice.”
Murry on Green’s leaping, one-handed touchdown catch in the second quarter: “That was unbelievable. No other receiver in the nation can make that catch. That was special right there. To go up and catch it with one arm, and bring it down with only one arm, it’s pretty unbelievable.”
Defensive end Demarcus Dobbs on being 1-4: “There’s going to be frustration. We’re Georgia. We never expect ourselves to get four losses. Or lose to the teams we have lost to. We just have to push ahead, and we cannot give up on each other. All we have is each other. We have to watch film, keep grinding and finish the season out, hopefully on a high note.”
Dobbs on the mentality in the locker room: “We just lost a game. Everyone is pretty much down; we thought we were going to come in and ruin their party and get a victory. We thought we were a better team. We didn’t represent Georgia well. We didn’t represent the SEC well. Only people we have to blame are ourselves. We need to watch film, see what we need to correct and make those adjustments, and stick together. We have to be accountable for each other and not give up on the season.”
Dobbs on the fumble on the final drive: “I thought it was a shoo-in; that’s how comfortable I was [about winning the game]. I put my helmet down. I was ready to run on the field and celebrate. But it didn’t happen that way. We made a fatal mistake, and that type of stuff needs to be corrected. We cannot turn the ball over at the end of the game. It felt like death to me. We have to keep grinding and support each other.”
– From transcript provided by Colorado of post-game player interviews.

This paper predicted Georgia as a 10-2 team, LOL, well so much for expert opinions.
Dawg fans we do realize that to get to be bowl eligible this year we have to go 5-1 the rest of the way.

This could turn out to be a good thing for Georgia: maybe the riff-raff (both fans and players) will go elsewhere.

The complete lack of discipline on the field and off goes to the top. Time for CMR to move on. Otherwise next year will be just as bad as this one.

If there is any doubt that Alabama is most dominant team in the SEC? If you think “no”, please please please get back on your medication. And those guys are playing a ton, I mean a ton of Freshmen, Redshirt Freshmen, and Sophomores on both sides of the ball.
And what is UGA playing, the most experienced offensive line in the SEC, and as Florida did tonight, got it handed to them.

What gets me the most is that there seems to be no sense of urgency by the coaching staff. Nothing has changed since the lost to South Carolina. The same bad play calling for the fourth week in a row. The same blown coverage assignments that lead to touchdowns. There have been three crucial fumbles that have cost us three crucial games, but CMR is singing the same song. As much as I hate to say it and as much as CMR has done for UGA football, his heart does not seem to be in the game any more. We could possibly be a 2 win team this year.

Couple of things: I would like to see the time of position of AJ on the field and the producitvity versus the time on the field that he was not.
My point; AJ obviously makes more of a difference than originally thought. The offense was jekyl and hyde when he was there v.s. not there.
We should not be that dependent on one person. Bama loses their heisman winning RB and they say “no problem”. The offense was inept without him on the field. Why???

I have beat the Dawgs up for 4 straight weeks, but this is one week that I won’t pile on. For the first time this year, they actually looked like a team worthy of its SEC status. But at the end of the day, the attitudes and discipline problems always come back to bite you. The foolish roughing the kicker play along with a few more stupid penalties cost UGA this game. Don’t look now, but Tennessee is not a gimmee next week, especially after they just lost that fluke game up at LSU. I really wouldn’t want to play them before having a bye. DAWGS…WELCOME TO THE SEC!

I’m waiting patiently for: “We’re going 8-4! You heard it from me on a blog. UGA is going to go 8-4, after this loss with Green back now we’re going to rally and beat Tennessee, Florida and Auburn and Tech and win the SEC East and up end Bama and be in a BCS bowl. Not bad for having been cheated by the NCAA with Green.”

The Caleb fumble definitely looked like a flea flicker. If so, UGA needs a change. The game was won. CU was being gashed for 10 yards per play on that drive. They were done. And this was called after an long TV time-out. If Richt doesn’t step down from his CEO position and start coaching some football, it’s gonna get a lot worse.
And … did you catch the CU coach’s interview after the game … “we do it the right way, we go to class and stay out of trouble” …. that hurts.

I am a GA fan through and through, I have always supported Richt, but this was the final straw for me. I think its time to bring Kirby in, we may be able to salvage some of the recruits, but this staff has got to go. I hate it, but the handwritting is on the wall.

AJ’s second TD was great. He kicked in that extra step to catch up to ball. However, it was a very predictable from Bobo. Got the defensive stop. Got a big punt return. Bobo goes for the big play on 1st down from the 40 every time in that situation. My complaint is that when he misses, the drive consistenly stalls our. In this case, he put the defense right back on the field in the high altitude.

There are a ton of coaches who could have done ALOT better than Richt and his staff( who I will repeat, has not one coach who would be wanted by another top tier program).
I hope your son goes to UGA and plays, I hope he has a successful career, I hope you wear your red and black garments to every game with the button with your sons picture and jersey number on it. But when your son is surrounded by a bunch of guys who are arrested criminals, do not blame anyone but yourself for putting your child at risk.

Joe Cox, Willie Martinez and 8-5 are looking pretty good about now. It’s hard to believe we will beat Florida or Auburn….Kentucky and GT are very possible losses…..could this team go 1 – forever? Is it possible we have won the only game we are going to win all year? There is something of major proportions wrong in Athens…..the season is over as far as any worthy goals are concerned. What are we playing for – another low tier bowl game? Better to admit the year is a goner and work on doing somes serious improvement on our play calling and player development. We are already playing for “next year”…well run programs don’t fall off the cliff like this – not with our recruiting, money, facilities and fan base….8 – 5 is a bad year with all that we have to work with….we are now heading for 2 – 10…..I have never been down on CMR but it looks like somehow, somewhere he has lost control of this program. He needs to get to work……….NOW.

OK, let’s say that Richt is canned (which I’m against for the record), do you really think that Smart is ready for this? Oh my goodness, what a mistake that would be. He has proven that he can successfully run Saban’s defense. That’s it. If our options are Richt and hopefully minus Van Halanger, Searles, and maybe Bobo OR Kirby Smart, sign me up for option 1.

There is not a recruit with any kind of positive influence that would sign with UGA after this season and this season of arrest and issues. UGA is losing its best players to the NFL or graduation and if you think one of these young skilled athletic High Schoolers wants to get hurt playing for a week team.

Man never thought in a million years I’d say this but under slick Willie M. we beat teams like this. He just couldn’t beat Gators. CMR looks clueless on the sidelines. BObo doesn’t have a clue. thought CTG was the answer and after he crawled up one side and down the other of that defensive player that made a mistake in the first game i thought of BVG didn’t take long for me to realize it was only wishful thinking on my part. Heard CMR got onto him said that isn’t the way things are done here at GA. Hell someone needs to bring in some fire. Hate to say it but things in Athens need to be blown up and start from the ground up. We can’t be any worse off. Worst mistake CMR made of his entire career was giving Blow BO offensive coord. Hell i know these recruits don’t want to come to the new Vanderbilt of the SEC. We are not tough we get pushed around like a bunch of candy A$$es. Offensive line was suppose to be great, we can’t open any holes for a dam mouse to get in. We as DAWG fans let things go unnoticed with CMR because we won games here and there, but now that over sight has come home to roost. Hope he can find him and blow Bo a job somewhere else. I know CR has 91 wins only 7th coach in history to do so, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out Blow Bo suckssssssssss.

Someone tell me why we did not continue to put the ball in our best player’s hands. Green didnt get thrown to at all on the last drive. This team cannot line up and run when they know it is coming. On top of that, the RBs fumble in the crunch. So explain to me why we went back to it at a time when we are trying to win the ballgame? Even if he doesnt fumble, the play was blown up for a big loss. The announcers just got done saying that UGA got their two best offensive weapons back…Chapas and Green. Why were we not riding them into the end zone?
When Alabama needs a play…they go to Ingram. When the Falcons needed a play against the Saints they went to Gonzales. Good teams that WIN do that. When Bobo needs a play, he goes to the same guys that continue to not get the job done when it counts.
Mike Bobo continues to show an inability to analyze what plays work and continue to exploit them. If Mark Richt cannot recognize this and find someone who can, he will be on a serious hot seat.
