Vanderbilt returns 1,200 tickets, which UGA will put on sale

Georgia will put 1,200 tickets to its Oct. 16 home football game against Vanderbilt on sale to the general public at 9 a.m. Friday.

The tickets were returned by Vanderbilt from its 2,800-seat allotment for the game.

The tickets are $50 each.

Also, Georgia has about 900 tickets remaining for the Nov. 6 game against Idaho State from the 2,000 that Idaho State returned two weeks ago. Those tickets are $45 each.

Tickets for both games can be ordered online (www.georgiadogs.com) or by phone (1-877-542-1231).

Georgia’s next home game, Oct. 9 vs. Tennessee, will be the Bulldogs’ 60th consecutive sellout at Sanford Stadium –  every home game since Mark Richt became coach. The last Georgia home game not to sell out was the Nov. 25, 2000, game against Georgia Tech.

I’d rather light myself on fire and run through a meth lab first. Maybe give birth to a flaming porcupine with rabies on the floor of an igloo during a hemorrhoid attack. Perhaps let a serial killer poke out my eyes with an ice pick, scoop out my brains, drop in a candle, and make me into a Jack-O-Lantern.

Geez, BigDawg, as other columnists have pointed out, Bama doesn’t have a major out-of-conference rival each year as UGA does with GT, so they can schedule a Dome game. The rest of their non-conference schedule, however, looks every bit as weak as UF and UGA. That’s how it’s done now. It’s worked for Bama and UF, so UGA is giving it a try.

Hard to imagine with all the issues that UGA has both on and off the field that UGA fans would turn thier noses up at the Vandy game and assume a win ???? UGA is 0-3 in the SEC and should not take ANY team for granted this year……maybe UGA should focus on better recruiting of student athletes and higher graduation rates….

You people are making it VERY VERY clear who the real fans are and who the fairweather bandwagoners have been the last 10 years.

“Who would want to go see this game?”…… Come on. Anybody who has the true passion for UGA football ALWAYS wants to spend a beautiful Fall Saturday in the South on the beautiful campus of UGA, being with lifelong friends and family, and taking in the opportunity of fellowship. The SEC and UGA are about SO MUCH more than HAVING to be the unbeaten, dominate program. The memories and experiences shared by so many are what makes being a TRUE fan of UGA the best thing on earth.

In a weird, and sad way, I am almost relieved that the current situation is taking place. It is doing UGA a favor by getting rid of some of you idiots who have nothing but words of discouragement and anger to share with us.

Like ANY home game, I cannot wait to set up my tent, and enjoy the newely cool, crisp Fall air, attend the Dawg Walk and enjoy the chills that run down my spine when the lone trumpeter begins the Battle Hymn of the Bulldawg Nation in the SW corner of the greatest college football setting in all the land.

NEXT YEAR the MNC is a JOKE. Yes it make money and PUB, bu winning the SEC should mean more if your team does that. Sorry I hate Tech lost to UGA last year, but winning the ACC was more important to me. BAMA playing Ga State this year is nice for Bama to give some money to Curry, but I think my buddy that is a huge BAMA fan could probably play QB and I could be Middle Lindbacker in that game by the middle of the 2nd quarter. If you want to break the BSC then have HUGE OOC games as to make the BCS MNC be between a no loss App St vs a no loss Sayracuse. Make the bowl matchups a joke because the teams playing got to the game by playing nobodys. I know I would love to see a Haiwii v Bosie St for the MNC when you have Bama, UF, Texas, USC west, Ohio St and Oklahoma all having 2-3 losses and playing in crapy bowls, but they could all beat the teams playing in the BCS MNC game. THAT is the cure to killing the BCS.

That is 570 Student Athletes. If “PAY UP” has their way that is $570,000 min. a month to $1,140,000 a month or $13,680,000/yr. HAHAHAHAHAHHA RIGHT UGA can afford that. As someone posted UGAA is like #2 in money rasing and there is no way in HELL UGA can pay PLAYERS. TITLE IX leveled the field. Pay ONE you pay them ALL. The hands fixed at “10″ and “2″ on their steering wheel.! winky, yes we southerners, do take our football seriously, and yes, we believe that unlike other parts of the country, soccer WILL NOT take over the south replacing FOOTBALL!!!!!! Nothing wrong with soccer, but it is not football for action. 1-0 scores and the like. Same with hockey. 1-0 scores. Please. About as exciting as the Olympic sport of curling! Kansas playing “over their heads” is still a Division II performance lil guy. Just take your asian roommate’s *ock out of your mouth, leave your dorm room computer, and maybe go have a conversation with the opposite sex. Maybe once you have experienced a woman and your balls finally drop you will be able to intelligently discuss football.

But I still enjoy going to sold-out Sanford Stadium every chance I get. Go Dawgs

It’s very sad that two storied football programs like Tech and UGA have suffered and lost to inferior teams this season. It’s going to take a lot of tough devotion and hard decisions to each to get the programs going in the right direction again. Both have quality athletes, so it’s obviously a coaching problem. The question then is whether either or neither of the schools will have the guts to make necessary changes.

Still time for all the pessimist to climb aboard the bandwagon. I see a dawg backed into a corner right now. Look for dawgs to roll Ralphie and Co this weekend and gain some much needed momentum to head back into SEC play against Vandy, Tenn and KY. Good chance Dawgs will take a 5 – 3 record into Jax this year. 9 – 3 is still a real possiblity with cakewalks over the Potato State and Nerdville; toss up against the War Eagle and a probable loss against the Gator (but who knows? Maybe this is the Dawgs year).

We have to pay a contribution and then the ticket price to see teams that are weak and will not help us in the overall standings. I would r am idsather see us line up against powerhouses than to play some of the teams we have scheduled now. I am disappointed in McGarity for not wanting to take us in a more national direction.

Who really cares? Georgia continues to schedule weak teams, so they deserve to have empty seats and a fan base that just does not care. These fans wait an entire year in hopes that UGA football will someday return, but get disappointed year, after year.

CMR lost his constituency in September 2008 when Alabama came to down and embarassed the Dogs in front of national television, thus it will be a long time before College Game Day returns to Athens, a very long time.

When you consider that the Dogs have not been competitive since 1982 (PSU), then the fan base either needs to get aggressive with the staff, find another team, or stick with a bunch of losers. Misery does love company, so stop by CMR’s office.

No one was complaining about Florida’s non conference FSU game when they were a perrenial top 5 program. And the occassional insertion of Miami when the schedule added the extra game, when they were ranked was also weak? SEC folks need to be reminded that there are more than enough ranked teams in house – Nebraska has a great shot this year since they only play a total of 1 top 25 team before their conference championship and don’t get me started about Ohio State’s schedule. There is a reason that OSU gets whacked when it runs into the SEC in the national championship game.

Word from big donors in the UGA world is that Richt will get another year regardless of how this year turns out and if he wins 9-10 games next year then his contract is renewed. Talked to big time donor last night and that seems to be the way things are going. Seems that even with the outcry Richt is here a minimum of one more year and probably a lot longer. I know it is not popular to say but I think that is the right thing for UGA. Tough it up a couple of years and Richt will have program back on feet. Already seeing some positive developments. More to come later….

Yellow Fuzz, until you beat Georgia two years in a row, don’t talk any trash. It’s ok to point out that they routinely recruit top-10 classes, yet don’t seem to use all that talent effectively. It’s also ok to point out that they have no real in-state competition for recruiting blue chip athletes in a state that worships high school football. It’s also ok to point out that since their NC in 1980, Florida, Tennessee, LSU, Alabama, and Tech have all had NC’s (some multiple times). Georgia should have a fistful of NCs by now. Why not?
