Emptying the notebook before heading to Colorado …

  • An interesting observation from Mike Bobo about running back Carlton Thomas, the Bulldogs’ smallest player:  “Carlton has never been in a green jersey his whole career here.” Green jerseys are worn at practice by players who have injuries that preclude them from contact.
  • Drew Butler and Blair Walsh can’t wait to kick in Colorado’s mile-high air.

Butler visited a friend in Denver in May and took the opportunity to punt a few balls while he was there. He said they traveled about 3-5 yards longer and were in the air about two-tenths of a second longer, adding to his hang time. “When it’s humid and it’s wet here in the summer, the thick air just holds the ball down, but out there, it’s crisp and the ball flies,” Butler said. “It’s fun kicking.”

Walsh, whose career-long field goal is 53 yards at Oklahoma State in 2009, said he’d like to try a field goal of 60-plus yards in Saturday’s game and will try a kick from 70 yards in warm-ups.

  • A 1-3 record is a shock to the system of Georgia fans — and players.   “I don’t think anybody on the team right now had ever started any season of playing football one and three,” defensive lineman DeAngelo Tyson said.
  • Georgia will be just the second SEC team ever to play a game in Boulder. The only other time an SEC team played there was on Sept. 15, 1979, when LSU beat the Buffaloes 44-0.
  • Counting road and bowl games, Colorado has played a dozen games against SEC teams. The Buffaloes are 2-9-1, including a 14-13 loss at Georgia in 2006.
  • This will be Georgia’s third game against a Big 12 team since the start of last season. The Bulldogs opened last season with a loss to Oklahoma State and ended it with an Independence Bowl victory over Texas A&M. Of course, Colorado won’t be in the Big 12 much longer; the Buffaloes join the Pac-10 next year.
  • As A.J. Green returns from suspension, it’s not clear if Kris Durham, Georgia’s top receiver in Green’s absence, will be able to play. Durham suffered what he called a stretched nerve in his neck late in last week’s game. Durham said he’ll “be fine by Saturday,” but coach Mark Richt called him questionable.
  • Offensive lineman Trinton Sturdivant continues to work his way back. He played 20-plus snaps last week. The plan is for him to play more each week.
  • Todd Grantham has been stressing two things with the defense this week: “start and finish.” The defense has given up touchdowns on the opponent’s opening possession in the past three games.  And then it’s tended to play pretty well until struggling again near the end of the games.

“If you go back to the South Carolina game, the score is 14-6 and it’s late in the fourth quarter and we can’t stop them and get the ball back,” Grantham said. “Go to Arkansas; the score is 24-24 and we have had some stops, we do stop them, then we have to go back out for a two-minute drive and we don’t stop them then. And then you go to this past game [against Mississippi State] and it’s 10-6 late in the fourth quarter and we don’t stop them.

“You’re going to be in all sorts of games, and whatever has happened up until then . . . you got to finish that game,” Grantham said. “That’s the thing in the last three games: We haven’t finished.”

UGA has to go 6-2 the rest of the season to finish 7-5. I don’t believe it will happen, but who knows.

Colorado joins a PAC-10 conference next season which has ZERO (0) BCS National Championships – the only BCS conference without a BCS NC Game Win.

The other part of the B.S. by the media is that there are ALL THESE GREATEST RIVALRY GAMES in College Football, they say :

Michigan Ohio State
Notre Dame Southern California
Texas Oklahoma

I have a question for those media promulgating such B.S.

Why has SEC Won 4 in a row BCS National Championship Games 6-0 ?

Why does PAC-10 have 0 BCS National Championship Game wins 0-2 ?

Why does the ACC have 1 BCS National Championship Game win 1-2 ?

Why does Big 10 have 1 BCS National Championship Game win 1-2 ?

Why does Big East have 1 BCS National Championship Game win 1-2 ?

Why does Big XII have MOST LOSSES in BCS Nat Champ Games at 2-5 ?

4 SEC programs have Won The BCS National Championship Game 6-0.

2 SEC programs have Won The BCS National Championship Game twice.

And, then there is Georgia with Georgia fans saying that we are the 4th best football program in The SEC. I have seen some say we are better than that at 20-15 vs SEC after 2005 season through this morning.

We damn sure ain’t very spiffy. Let’s brag about The SEC even if at 20-15 we absolutely cannot compete in The SEC for now the 5th Consecutive Freaking Season in a bloody damn row.

20-15 over now this year the last 5 years vs SEC, and Coach Richt is the 3rd best coach in the United States of America.

B.S.

UGA players live dumb

October 2nd, 2010
5:47 am

What part of smart don’t UGA players understand. Don’t break the law and they do. Don’t commit fouls and they do. Don’t sell your career and team for a thousand bucks and they do. Don’t loaf around the field during the game and they do. Don’t fumble and they do. Don’t act like street thugs and gang members and they do. Play smart and they don’t. Don’t drink and they do. Have a valid drivers license and they don’t. Give it all you got and they don’t. Leave all you have on the field and they don’t. Be smart and they act dumb and live and play like idiots. I know there are some good players on the UGA team but the majority of the team act and play like they have no clue to football and life. I am about ready to kiss UGA football and all athletics goodbye. It just isn’t worth the bother anymore. Stupid is as stupid does and Georgia don’t have very many smart players.

Heartless!

October 2nd, 2010
5:53 am

The word for Mark Richt’s teams is “heartless”. Where is the pride, the passion, the guts, the toughness, the tenacity? Where is the give it all you got mentality? Where is the “meaner than a junkyard dog” attitude? Richt’s teams look clueless on the field and stand around waiting for the game to be given to them because they are UGA. CMR and Georgia have lost the “it” factor. They are heartless and you will never succeed and win when your heart’s not in it. Georgia’s heart hasn’t been there for a long time.

MOB!!!

October 2nd, 2010
5:59 am

The past few UGA football teams have been mobs instead of teams. A lawless mob prowling the streets at all hours of the night doing whatever their evil law breaking hearts want to do.
Almost fifteen percent of the entire team has joined this mob of lawbreakers. And to thank these players are suppose to be heroes and examples to our children. The mob (gangsta) rules at UGA and Coach Richt don’t seem able to get their attention or do anything about it.
CMR is running scared and too afraid to can Bobo for his boo boos. The members of the Dawg mob needs to go and if they don’t go … the coach should go. I am sick and tired of picking up the newspaper with the headlines “Another Georgia player arrested”. If CMR can’t control his players off the field, how does he ever expect to control them on the field?

Coaches and Players Have No Heart

October 2nd, 2010
6:11 am

I think one of the major problems on the current UGA team is a lack of desire. All of the Bulldogs’ opponents seem to be playing with a more consistent level of desire and clarity of purpose. Maybe that’s a coaching flaw within Richt’s staff. Maybe it’s a question of leadership in the Bulldogs’ locker room. Whatever it is, it stinks and I am tired of smelling it.
If CMR can’t get the intensity, passion, desire and heart back into the UGA program, he needs to go. No desire makes me sick. Dumb players (on and off the field) turns my stomach. UGA stinks because the program is graveyard dead and dead things always stink.
I could take the losses better if quality young men were giving “their all” for the honor of representing UGA.

More than likely, it’s a combination of the two.

So what should we expect from the Bulldogs fo

Just got back from Walmart with a sackful of Dawg gear-hat, rain gear, coozies, sweater and shirt. Even got a todler’s outfit for my niece. All for 49$. Everything is on sale at 70% off. Is America great or what?? Now for the Boulder game, Ive got the wings and enough beer to drown in. this is definitely the turnaround we have been waiting on. The refs are SEC also, but from my past observations, they all hate the Dawgs. The SEC Championship game is definitely on the table. We run the table and even the BCS Championship is doable. Now get off their asses and root hog for the Dawgs.

I cannot wait to hear the comments at the end of the season when the Dawgs have won the SEC Championship game in Atlanta (Damon Evans favorite liberty port.) NO I am not dillusional-just look at the way the schedule is in our favor. We have gotten all the losses out of the way with our toughest opponents and now nothing left but cupcakes. GT has zero chance against my Dawgs. The Dawgs defense will stifle the 8th grade offense of CPJ. The Heisman Candidate could not complete a pass to a lake. It is hillarious seeing these Jackets wannabes thinking they have a chance against my Dawgs.

You are a freaking idiot. All 10 arrests were misdemeanors. They were dumb, but not nearly as dumb as you undoubtedly are. The arrests are embarassing and a black eye for the program, but I’m tired of brainless idiots like yourself trying to turn them in to something they are not. The dawgs have not been ready for a season in a long time. This is the SEC. The best conference in the nation. What is MR doing with the time allowed to coach these players. Coaches like Saban and Meyer run at tight ship. No time to swim. GA players do not deserve to swim. Penalties, poor blocking, poor tackling, Not playing 4 quarters, and bad play calling. I can tell you what play the dawgs are running. This is embarrassing.

Listen UGA fans, I don’t think its good for CMR to get the team on the sideline in a circle to give them a pep talk. That needs to done in the locker room. I believe he does that to impress dawg fans. Just like at the Fla. game some seasons ago. The incident in the end zone. All the players celebrating. All that did was infuriate the Gators fans and players. And look what happened the very next season. UGA got STOMPED. Just a thought, I like CMR but sometimes I queston his tatics.

They are talking about Georgia’s issue nationally. I watched SEC Gridiron show with Tim Couch and Randy Shannon yesterday, and immediately following was a Fox Sports show on the same Comcast channel. They had a segment on the “Richt on the hot seat issue.” The hostess called on a guy by video somewhere in the field who said that Muschamp would be the likely replacement, and they showed some clips of his “fiery coaching”.

I thought that this was a local issue among the fan base.

I see alot of UGA fans very upset and being realistic about ya’lls situation and you are just a complete idiot and need to shut your mouth cuz your making your entire fan base look horrible.
