STARKVILLE, Miss. – Georgia got a number of players back on the field from injuries Saturday night.
Tailback Caleb King, who had missed the previous 2 ½ games with a sprained right ankle, entered the game against Mississippi State late in the first quarter.
He was the third Georgia tailback into the game, following starter Washaun Ealey and Carlton Thomas. King entered the game on Georgia’s next possession after a goal-line fumble by Ealey thwarted a scoring opportunity. King broke free for a 12-yard gain on his first play since the season opener, but that proved to be the highlight of his night. He finished with 23 yards on nine carries.
Meanwhile, Branden Smith, Shaun Chapas and Marcus Dowtin returned to action after missing the previous game with a concussion, sprained ankle and shoulder stinger, respectively.
Smith started Saturday at cornerback. Chapas entered at fullback, in relief of Fred Munzenmaier, on the first play of the second quarter. And Dowtin came into the game at linebacker early in the second quarter.

Football games here have a unique sound: cowbells.
Before Saturday night’s game, messages played on Davis Wade Stadium’s video board, imploring fans to “respect the bell” and “ring responsibly.”
The SEC has a rule against artificial noisemakers, but the league in June passed an exception on a one-year trial basis to officially allow Mississippi State fans to continue their decades-old tradition of ringing cowbells. The catch is that the bells are supposed to be rung only at certain times -– pregame, between quarters, halftime and after MSU touchdowns. The school will be fined by the conference for violations of the policy.
Early-arriving fans started ringing the bells two hours before kickoff Saturday. During the game, the upper right corner of the video board offered a constant reminder of whether it was time to “ring” or “yell.”

Georgia wide receiver A.J. Green was not allowed under NCAA rules to accompany the team to Mississippi State. He was serving the final game of his suspension for selling his Independence Bowl jersey to a person the NCAA considers an agent, former North Carolina football player Chris Hawkins. Green is scheduled to return to action next Saturday at Colorado.
He has played in only two of Georgia’s past nine games, missing three of the final five last season because of lung and shoulder injuries and the first four this season because of the suspension. In one of the games Green played late last season, he left with a shoulder injury early in the second quarter against Auburn. So his only full game out of Georgia’s past nine was the Independence Bowl victory over Texas A&M.

Georgia has more former players currently serving as captains of NFL teams than any other school.
That’s according to this report by the Dallas Morning News, which counted the colleges of the 124 players who were elected full-season captains by votes of their teammates on 26 NFL teams. The other six NFL teams have captains appointed weekly by their coaches.
Six of the 124 permanent captains are former Georgia players: Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward, Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey, Saints offensive tackle Jon Stinchcomb, Bills defensive tackle Marcus Stroud and Panthers kicker John Kasay.
Stafford was quoted by the Dallas paper as attributing his captaincy to this: “We have a great coach, a great leader at Georgia [in Mark Richt]. It probably rubs off on us.”

Davis Wade Stadium is the nation’s second oldest Division I-A on-campus football stadium. It was built in 1914, making it one year younger than Georgia Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium. But Mississippi State’s old stadium has a new-age feature the largest high-definition video board in the SEC and the second largest (behind Texas’) in college football. The screen is 111 feet wide by 47 feet high. In square footage, it is slightly smaller than Turner Field’s video board.

Attention, everyone, especially dawgtards. We will now observe a moment of silence in memory of Saint Jan Kemp, who exposed the shameful practices at UGA that were initiated and carried out by slimeball Vince Dooley. Dooley’s image as a coach and a nice guy were forever shattered during the trial, not to mention the one million dollars that dawgtards had to pay Saint Jan. These practices of recruiting morons and coddling them for four years, them tossing them out like garbage, are still going on, but at least the world knows what’s happening in Athens now.
And now, the moment of silence…

The UGA football Bulldogs have hit rock bottom! It simply does not get any worse than this shet. Time to fire not only Mark Wretch and Mike Dodo but the whole bunch of clueless losers! This was a total embarrassment from start to finish. What is it with that idiot #3? The football was less than a foot from him. All he has to do is make one football play, one, for a touchdown! How did this ignoramus get into college. Oh. I forgot. It is UGA also known as Thug U! Completely unspirited debacle. Enough to make every true Bulldog fan outraged. I AM! Very much so. This cannot be tolerated. Firings are long past due. Bulldogs are official laughingstock of Southeastern Conference! Truly sad. I am too utterly disgusted and nauseated to comment further. Damn this!

This season is over and it is time to start seriously discussing the end of the Richt era at UGA. It wasn’t Willie Martinez. It wasn’t injuries or suspensions. It is just that the team is the worst coming out of Athens in the past 40 years. They are that bad. I know these boards allow us to vent and exaggerate a lot, but I honestly don’t think I am. It is time for change, and it starts with Bobo on Monday morning. He needs to go.

Y’all, we are now fighting for our life against Mississippi State, a team that we are 16-5 against. We haven’t lost a game in Starkville since 1951. We have not scored. We have not converted on 3rd down. Penalties have cost us, probably, the game. Our offense is pathetic, our defense is worse. Defense has had absolutely no answer to our opponents passing game or running game. We are totally lost on both sides of the ball. At least we are seeing some reaction on richt’s face, but the bad news is it is a look of worry. We must face facts, we are at best a 3rd rate team. This will have a tremendous negative impact on recruiting. It will take us years, if ever, to regain credibility.
We all know what has to be done. I hate it as bad or worse than anyone but we must have a change. It’s way out of control.
And seriously, will someone please explain to me what people see in that moon faced doughboy, Grantham?? What am I missing? aside from the jumping up and down acting like a fool against Louisiana Lafayette, what has he done? Defense is pathetic and we know what Coach Doo Doo is worth. Folks, we are no longer junkyard dawns and sadly may never be again.
Go dogs!!!

Wow, I am embarassed to be a UGA fan. It’s so bad that I laugh about it now. We are becoming the punching bag for the SEC. We keep playing like this, we will lose our ability to recruit top notch players. Well actually, we can still recruit leftovers or players that have criminal records. It’s sad to know that basically our season is over. I can see us losing at least 3 more games. My friend and I were betting during the games on what plays Bobo will call. Anybody else second-guessing the decision to not hire Diaz as our D- coordinator? Our defense is pathetic. Nobody fills a gap or steps up to make a tackle. They sit back and try to “catch” opposing players. Washington is terrible!
And what about our experienced offensive line? Davis stood and watched on every running play. They don’t know there blocking assignments!

If you can’t beat a high school team like Mississippi St you don’t deserve to coach in the SEC.
Georgia will go 4-8, 5-7 at best — Win vs Colorado, Idaho St, GA Tech (Who may be worse than Georgia somehow) and maybe a win vs Tennessee (who may even be worse than Ga Tech).

CMR is not the problem. As a matter of fact, Bobo should be fired right away so CMR can resume calling plays, which he still does very well. The problem with the Dawgs is that this team lacks leadership on the field- the only guy who seems to want to be a leader is a redshirt freshman. It seems that these players have no respect for themselves or their coaches. There’s plenty of talent out there, but you can have all the talent in the world and still not win. You have to want it and this team clearly doesn’t.

our situation is worse than it looks, if that is possible….bordering on desperation, it is really hard to believe and accept that our talent is so inferior to that of the opposition… our running backs stop before they get hit….no power…probably 10 backs in the league better than ours…as for A.J. Green, he is nothing more than a distraction and a liability….having missed the last 9 games, he,obviously, is more concerned about himself than he is with his coach and team….sooner he simply decides to drop out of school and start workouts for the draft, the better for him…and us…

There is not much here that I disagree with. Our O-line was supposed to be a strength, so far the only strength is the kickers and that’s about it. The last drive tonight there were plays that should have been called all night. Single coverage and 8 in box? Throw it down the field. If it wasn’t for Murray our offense would really be in the toilet.

In all fairness to Ealey, it looked like he got his bell rung down on the goal line. I think he was dazed after that hit when his helmet came off. True, things are not going good right now but I am not going to say I am embarrassed to be a bulldog fan; however, I am embarrassed by the way things are going. I don’t understand why CTG doesn’t make some adjustments on the line. Everyone has figured out they can run on us up the middle, why not come out of the 3-4 so we can shut the run down until we get the right personnel to run it? We aren’t even covering the pass that well in the 3-4. I am not impressed at all with our running backs. We really need to recruit some bigger backs. OUR problem and I have said it since the USC game is we have NO INTENSITY. We just don’t look like we are fired up and we sure aren’t laying the wood on anyone. Lastly, if we get rid of CMR who has won 90% of his games, who do we replace him with?

All of Richt’s graduates have the highest regard for him. Read Stafford’s comments in the Dallas paper. Richt’s former players rave about him. Have you heard or read David Pollock’s comments or David Greene’s? Richt’s winning percentages are off the charts, his road record the best, to the SEC championship 3 times and 2 wins, one of the best bowl percentages in UGA history. As for him being a great man. All former players say so. He and wife have adopted poor children from other countries. He is a leader filled with compassion. He is down right now (in wins) but first in the hearts of those who know him. I have followed GA for almost 50 years. He is the finest man and coach I have ever known.

When I decided to make the trip to Boulder several years ago, I certainly wasn’t expecting to head out there 1-3…this is a very poorly motivated and prepared team. They need to start the coaching search now. I hate it for Coach Richt because I love what he stands for spiritually…but, as a HC, it’s about wins and losses. Too many losses over the past 2 plus seasons…this team looks like it’s being coached by Ray Goff.
What are our chances of getting Will Muschamp or Jim Harbaugh….Harbaugh already outrecruits us in the state. Can you say James Vaughters??

So CMR hires Mr 3-4 without realizing we dont have the players to play a 3-4. No strong nose guard, not inside LBs who can tackle, weak CBs and Safeties. Add this to an offense run by a 16 year old coordinator and you get what we got. Bobo is not the problem, the Defensive Coordinator (I use the term losely) is not the p[roblem. CMR hired these bozos. Georgia is a surprisingly bad team. You can talk about AJ Green’s absence all you want and breaking in a new quarterback, but the young QB and the receiving corp are actually the strength of the offense. Durham is the surprise star of the first 1/3 of the season. But the running backs are mediocre, the tight ends are so-so, and the offensive line is dreadful. This with almost the entire offense coming back. That doesn’t happen without bad coaching folks, and it starts with Richt.
Arkansas looked pretty good today, but lost at home. They are a good, but not great, team. South Carolina lost tonight and will probably end the season with its usual 5-6 losses. Georgia lost to both, plus Miss. St. It’s really THAT bad.

I’ve been a diehard UGA fan since I was 12 years old, and I’m 55, but people when we can’t beat Miss. State and Kentucky–It’s WAY past time for a coaching change. I’m sick and tired of all the arrests, stupid penalties, and losses to teams we should handle easily. UGA football is a joke–NOBODY fears playing us anymore, and with the talent in this state, that is a shame.

There are a lot of comments on here from people that dont have a clue about football.
But there are some things that are evident.
Murray didnt do all that bad. He just didnt have any time to do much with that HORRIBLE offensive line. NO protection at all.
Bobo has got to go. he is the worst offensive coordinator ever.
Coach Richt has got to tighten the strings here with Bobo or he will find himself on the chopping block.
The secondary was horrible. Arm tackling still.
No blitz at all or pressure on their quarterback. He had all day.
and for what its worth no luck at all. Everytime the ball hit the ground it went right back to them.

Tonight could have been a turning point but now we’ll tailspin. We show absolutely no creativity in offensive play calling. Anyone else notice that we only gain 2 yards EVEN when we open a hole? And Miss St gained a minimum of 4 most plays because apparently we immediately get pushed off the ball. Bobo has to go by season’s end at the latest. Surely Richt learned that lesson w/ Martizez being here too long. I still think Richt has at least next year regardless of how rest of this year goes.

I need your input on this. Doesn’t it seem like ever since Mark Richt kept apologizing for the celebration when we be Florida the dogs have been neutered? Vince Dooley never would have apologized. What can we do to get to Tommy Tubberville from Texas Tech? We need a coach with some balls. He never apologized for kicking the crap out of the GAYTORS. The Richt era has come and gone. Todd Grantham is the second coming of Willie Martinez and my 4 year old daughter who lives in England and knows more about the European version of football can call a better offensive game than Mike Bobo. I know Richt is a Christian and believes in the Lord. I get it. But we need a football coach not a preacher. I hope they buried Erk Russell (may he rest in peace) at the pet cemetery because he needs to be resurrected. I am sick to my damn stomach. Mark Richt has got to go.

okay time’s up. the best name for a new coach to replace Richt was Harbaugh. Runs a west coast offense against teams that have very slow team speed. Kirby Smart is always going to be Satan’s I mean Saban’s yes man. Will never take the step away from security of Saban to be a HC. Muschamp. Drank the kool aid that he will be the next head coach at Texas when Brown retires in 20 years. let’s see, Texas, No. 7, got beat by UCLA at Texas today. And the score was 34 -12. Muschamp’s defense look really good today against a team that was beat 35-0 a few weeks back. So people, the choices that are out there right now are not to good. Be careful what you wish for you just might get it then you could be much worse off! that being said, I’m outta here tonight.

Richt lost my respect and control of the team YEARS ago. It all started in ‘07 when UGA played Auburn and players were allowed to do that stupid “Superman” dance while on the field (did Richt even know what that meant???). UGA fans loved it and thought it was so cute and funny. Well, it was the beginning of the end. I had never seen Richt allow something like that and knew he was started to lose it. So, it serves you right. Let your players do what they want to pander to your fan base and it won’t be long before you’ll be updating your resume. WDE

Why is every team we play more physical than us? Recruits are better? NOPE, wrong answer, think really hard. How about how they are coached. Richt is a finesse guy. That’s the trade mark of his teams, high skills guys. We’ll outscore you and beat you because our recruits are better than yours. We’ll throw it around alot and run just enough. But we don’t want to get down and dirty in the trenches. When is the last time our defense just whooped up on a decent team? Please don’t say Hawaii. You have to think way back don’t you? Anyone watch the Auburn-Clemson game? You won’t see that kind of hitting from a GA team. Last year we had what 5-6 guys make the pros from our defense and still we couldn’t stop anybody. Grantham obviously needs a different type player to play the defense he runs. My guess is more physical, less touchy feely.

A friend of mine who happens to be an Ole Miss student called me right after the game tonight and said MState has nothing to be proud of by beating Georgia. I’m not sure CMR is the problem. He is just to loyat to Bobo. Bobo has five kids under five years old I think. Big time college offensive coordinator needs to spend a lot of hours turning around a crappy offence. This guy Bobo needs and should spend time with his family. He cannot give both the effort needed. Let’s face it, the defense is not great, but those guys need the offense to give them more than field goals. It is possible we could gon thru the season with only 5 wins.

Also, this Mississippi State team isn’t “horrible” or a “high school team” as a couple people have said. I think all of you will realize this as the season progresses even though you should already. And whoever was dogging Murray, you’re an idiot. He can sling it and he has the balls to take a couple hits when he’s trying to run for a first down. OK People Lay off Ealy, He got his bell rung on that play if you watch the replays there was some helmet to helmet contact(that “duh” knocked his helmet off) which the refs did not see. He didn’t even know he had fumbled did you notice how when he got up his mouthpiece was sticking out of his mouth crooked and he grabbed it and tried to put it in his face mask but it wasn’t there. He was out of it! But they did play like crap and not defensive adjustments is weird for a run based team like MISSSTATE!

I am a TRUE Dawg Fan. Win or lose, I would still support the Dawgs. But I must say that Coach Richt had better get a lot more assertive with his players, and coaching staff. He has to get very tough on the Coaches, and the players as well. As mush as I am a rivalry with Steve Spurrier, (being anywhere and playing against the Dawgs) I have to admit that Coach Steve Spurrier make champions out of his players. He also has absolutely no tact when it comes to his players, and his coaching staff. If there is something wrong with either of them, he will definitely make it known to them, and to the public. Last night, against Auburn, he took out Garcia (Quarterback) and benched him. In Garcia’s replacement, he put in a freshman quarterback without any hesitation. You see, Coach Steve Spurrier, says what he means, and he mean what he says. Being quiet, and passive with your players, and coaching staff without holding each, and everyone them accountable for their actions, and performance, is unacceptable, and it will get you in the hot seat to be fired. Coach Richt appears as if he does not have control of his players, and the entire team. Coach Mark Richt had better wake up, and get total control of his players, and coaching staff.
If the players are not performing up to his potential, Coach Mark Richt have a duty, and a responsibility as a Head Football Coach to bench that player. If your Offensive Coordinator is not performing to your standards, and the team is not responding well to the play calling, then you need to take over the play calling, and terminate the Offensive Coordinator. The time is now Coach Mark Richt to take control of your team before your team, and coaching staff take control of you. Food For Thought.

Boweevil, lighten up man, it was a joke. In case you didn’t know, we don’t pay our players. That would be against the omnipotent NCAA rules and would even be worse than driving your suspended Licensed car into a pole and leaving. Even worse than selling you jersey for a thousand bucks. Not even enough money, by the way, to buy 1 spinner for your Escalade. But to give Ealey some credit, I think he did get his clock cleaned on that hit. He looked like he just woke up from a bad dream.
It’s called sarcasm but they may not have taught you that.

GeorgiaGirl, you are a voice of reason. I suspect you’re a real Georgia Peach and you know your football! What a girl!! Richt must make major drastic changes. He and only he should do any play calling. He should work on getting a fire in his gut and instill that in his totally unmotivated players. We hear about all these great replacements for Richt: according to the considerable Ga Southern alum I talk to Van Gorder ruined their program. Derek Dooley hasn’t proven anything except that his name is Dooley. Muschamp and Smart appear to walk on water, but, fact is, they work under coaches that do walk on water from a football prospective. Boise State, Utah and similar schools mentioned here, are good teams and have good records, but are glorified high school teams when compared to SEC schools, or at least most SEC schools. Before we storm out with pitch forks and torches we better seriously think about what we are doing. Most coaches would kill for Richt’s overall record and stats. It’s his record to shatter let’s give him a little time to see if he shatters it.
What is so sad as a proud UGA alum is I see people saying we lost to the worst team in the SEC, well folks, that officially makes us the worst team in the SEC. Who would have ever thunk it (yes BoWeevil, I know it should be “thought it”, that joke thing in case you missed it again).
As for beating up on Aaron Murray he is basically doing it alone, he has no protection from his Oline. He, Durham, and kicking team are all we got and definitely only ones that want to win. Murray may not be a David Greene but he is only a freshman, give him some time he can’t do it all.

There sure is a whole lot more leg and elbow room on the band wagon in the last couple weeks. Has anyone else noticed that?
And GeorgiaGirl, if I weren’t happily married, I’d stalk you. If you got a GeorgiaBoy, he’s a lucky guy.

All you people that have jumped off the bandwagon and are hating on Richt so bad why don’t you huddle your upset masses and start your on team?? I hear the plant is going to be giving 1 and 1/2 percent raises this year. With that kind of money you may lure Lane Kiffin away from his dream job. You’ll have the kind of team you want and can really kick some @&$?//&$$!!!!! A$$ES then. Even if you don’t have the money for ole Lane, you can get a payday loan on the truck and I hear you can get a second mortgage on the trailer from the company store.
Yeah, we got our problems, I’ll admit it as fast as anyone. But, you fair-weather, bandwagon jumping rednecks need to go pull for Tennessee or Southern Cal or some other low rent team. I’d like to see you tobacco spittled, camping-in-walmart parking lot rubes do any better than freshman Aaron Murray or Mark Richt.
You’re either a bulldog or you’re not in good times and bad.
