Georgia an underdog at Mississippi State?
Georgia has not lost a football game to Mississippi State since 1974. Georgia has not lost in Starkville, Miss., since 1951.
But as of Wednesday night most Vegas sports books had Mississippi State as a 1-point favorite over Georgia in Saturday’s game in Starkville.
These are strange times, indeed, in UGA football.
As you know all too well, Georgia lost at South Carolina for the first time in 10 years and lost to Arkansas for the first time in 17 years and is 0-2 in the SEC for the first time in 17 years.
The next streak on the line is Georgia’s nine consecutive victories over Mississippi State. That streak dates to a 38-14 UGA loss in 1974 in Jackson, Miss.
The schools have played only 21 times in football despite both being charter members of the SEC. They have met only twice since 1997. Georgia leads the series 16-5.
Georgia’s all-time record in Starkville is 4-1, the lone loss a 6-0 defeat in 1951. Georgia won in Starkville in 1982, 1988, 1996 and 2005.
The teams also played three times in Jackson, most recently in 1974. Georgia was 1-2 in those games.

Let’s be totally frank here people, in our 2 losses the D made adjustments both times in the 2nd half. The O-line has been suspect, but their job is not tackling people. We do not close the deal & I fault Richt, he does not have a cut throat mentality. Yes Washaun fumbled, yes we failed too score & put the ball back in Mallett hands. We need a coach that wants to put his foot on the other guys throat & finish, meaning not accepting less than accountability on & off field.
People like Saban instills that attitude in their guys. A team is a reflection of the coach, Richt doesn’t have a killer bone in his body period, we don’t have that boxer’s heart we need in these big SEC contest. The reason I brought up boxing is there are plenty of Christian boxer’s out there, but don’t get it twisted if you slip, you will be looking up at the heavens. C’mon Richt when are you gonna let this talent we have throw that uppercut or haymaker, on both sides of ball & cuss em out in the corner if they miss !!!

It will bite us in a way but this is what is going to happen. Write this down. UGA will defeat Miss St. this weekend not badly but maybe by 10. When AJ returns, we will gain confidence even though we could have been just as good without AJ. Players will play better, coaches will coach better and we will either win out or lose one more game. Richt will save his job and we will have high expectations for next year. Then the same crap happens again, wishful thinking and still mediocre.

people wanna put all the coaches on the hot seat, so called bulldawgs nation fans and some columist as well(c.lowe). georgia is having decent o-line play on pass protection, and say half murrays sacks we’re from him holding the ball to long. again, young qb in big biy SEC play against 2 of IMO the bes teams maybe in the east/west besides bama. he’ll grow up, and i expect UGA to comeout to a whiteout at starkville at night.. making a big statement, he o-line can play up to it potential. know is miss state. though mullen is putting them in the drivers seat in the state. gonna be a god one, great coaching matchup. georgia wins, they’ll be on he way back up.miss st wins mullen will have beaten a uga team to get its voice heard in the west? here’s to a injury free, well called game going out on a limb, the line s 1 miss state….. With AJ Green the dawgs would be 3-0, easy. But, even without aj, the dawgs will beat miss state like a rented mule. Their D is terrible and the Dawg running game should pick up 200 yards plus and some easy points. Dawgs 37 miss state 19
