Dogs’ 0-2 SEC start means ‘you don’t see as much of the love as you used to’

ATHENS – Georgia players are well aware of how their 0-2 SEC record is being received  and reviewed by some fans and fellow students.

“Yeah, it’s different [on campus],” offensive tackle Josh Davis said Tuesday. “You don’t see as much of the love as you used to when you won a couple of games. But that’s to be expected; nobody wants to go to a university where the football team isn’t doing well at the time.

“We have great fans,” Davis said, “and they’re not used to losing like this. We’re not used to losing like this. . . . All we have to do is come out and win games, and everybody will be happy then. . . . I’ve heard things, but you got to take it with a grain of salt. It’s not [the fans'] fault we lost games; it’s our fault we lost games.”

When a reporter prefaced a question with the observation that fans aren’t happy with the team’s start, coach Mark Richt replied: “They’re not? Neither am I. Neither is my mom, I can tell you that.”

As for how the team is dealing mentally with the 0-2 SEC start, Richt said: “Everybody showed up at work, and we worked. That’s all we can ask right now. . . . I’m not really even worried how they feel right now. I’m more worried about how they work. If they are in a good mood and they work hard, or if they are in a bad mood and work hard, I don’t really care right now. As we get closer to the game, we’ll kind of work on the emotional part.”

Wide receiver Tavarres King said the team’s emotional state is fine. “Everyone is still upbeat,” he said. “No one is down. . . . There’s a lot of football left to play and a lot left to be said.”

Said wide receiver Kris Durham: “It’s disappointing, frustrating, whatever adjective you want to throw at it. It is. It’s not what we had pictured. It’s not what we had dreamed. But it is what has happened, and we have to take what’s positive out of it.”

This just looks so much like 07. 2 SEC losses at the beginning of the season and wins the rest of the way with a #2 ranking in the National Polls. If you look at the record UGA usually has a pretty good season when they lose to South Carolina.

We sure need to be more creative on offense.. .. Richt needs to call the plays… get aggressive ! use the TE’s and FB’s safety valve pass receivers for 1st down yardage .. D is getting better.. but I sure hate to see their WR;s wide open… Go Dawgs !! it’s only 2 games… we could win ‘em all …

Definitely need to get more creative on offense. It seems that opposing DC’s have figured out CMB’s tendencies: 1st down: low percentage pass plays with deep routes, 2nd down: play to set up for a 3rd and long, 3rd down and short: repeat 1st down play, 3rd and long: run a FB dive.

Yeah, its a rough start but we’ll get it turned around. The voting people for the polls know we were without AJ and with him we wold easily have won the first 2 games. So, play well the rest of the season and UGA will be back in the top 5 by the end of the season. Our tradetion of winning will pull us through. Maybe all that “love” was part of the problem. Despite the disappointments of ‘08 and ‘09, you still didn’t get the sense of urgency out of this program like it had something to prove. We almost started out 0-2 last year too. I have no idea why this is surprising. The fact that it is says a lot in my opinion.

It’s not just the 0-2 start this year that has fans upset Beginning with 08 the preseason #1 Dogs greatly underachieved losing 3 games and almost losing 2 others. Last year they played like a sandlot team with no coaching and were 4-4 in the SEC. A combination of turnovers, penalties, lack of hustle, poor coaching, underachieving, and off the field issues are the concerns.

Too bad CMR has allowed a bunch of hooligans ruin and distract this team and program. That goes with the inept coaching as well which has lingered the last three years. You Pollyanas need to listen to Larry. If you look at the whole picture, the program is on a downward trend. The last 4 seasons (even ‘07) we’ve not been prepared during the first part of the season. The blame for slow starts falls squarely on the coaching. Couple that with all the off-field problems, and you can easily see why most people are upset.

I’ve never understood how anyone – even an alumnus – could support and take pride in UGA’s football team. When you look at their history for the past forty years, how can anyone ignore Jan Kemp and the “remedial studies” scam, the Jim Harrick fiasco, the DUIs in the athletic office, the DUIs and other arrests of players, the #1 party school tag (i.e., the most drunk students), the suspensions and outright dismissals, the Fulmer Cup, and on and on?

As disgraceful and humiliating as it is, I don’t see many alums and fans demanding an end to this sordid activity. It sets UGA apart as the kind of school most people abhor, and it’s become an embarrassment to the whole state of Georgia.

Will it never end? Apparently not while Mark Richt is at UGA. Richt is perhaps the biggest hypocrite in the United States. But even with all the cheating and lawlessness that he ignores, he still can’t win the SEC.

So you’re paying him to be BCS champions, but he can’t even win his SEC division. So why do you pay him millions of dollars a year?

There’s been a lot of criticism with regard to the Bobo and Richt’s creativity on offense. “No reverses, not many screens, no trickeration, etc”. However, coaches generally run this type of play to put the ball in a play-maker’s hands. Who is UGA’s play maker? AJ Green. This week is the first week that we’ve known for sure that Green will not play. Is it possible that all of our “creative plays” are designed for AJ? All I’m saying is that the lack of creativity could possibly revolve around the absence of AJ. I think the offense becomes much more unpredictable when he returns to the action. Until then, Let’s get a W in Mississippi!

There’s an unstoppable countdown clock on his tenure when it gets to this stage. UGA fans better just hope this program isn’t as toxic as was indicated by your lack of ability to get one of your top 5 choices for DC.

It is a shame that things have gotten to this state. Suddenly Richt fans have gotten upset about arrests. Arrests and a lack of discipline have been a standard feature of the last ten years. The blame lands squarely on Adams’ desk because it extends throughout the athletic department. Adams fired Donnan because of “discipline issues.” He fired Dooley because Dooley refused to appoint Regent Leebron’s main squeeze assistant AD. Adams brought in Jim Harrick, who was not the choice of the search committee or of the AD. Harrick had wrecked programs at UMass and UCLA, and subsequently game us Basketball 101, Adams recruited Tony Cole with his presidential admit, and even Harrick resisted that one. Damon Evans was nothing more than an Adams puppet, and we know how that turned out. On the academic side, Adams fleeced the Foundation, replaced competent administrators with minions from the GA Legislature and floated shady construction and property deals. And there was the party for Adams Jr. charged to the UGA Foundation. Richt needs to go, but the problem is much bigger than Richt.

There’s a lot of talk about ‘07 as a bright spot on Richt’s resume. And while 11-2 is certainly nothing to sneeze at, that season just as easily can be viewed as a failure because of the slow start, which has become a trademark of UGA recently. Here me now and believe me later, that team had no business losing more than one game that year. That team had strong national title potential. We were virtially unstoppable in the I formation and the defense was stout. The loss at Tennessee is understandable but the blowout was not. A close quality loss to a good Tennessee team would not have knocked us out of the hunt. The loss to South Carolina remains mindboggling and I put it on Bobo trying to do too much with Stafford. I think ‘07 was Richt’s best, and possibly last, chance to win it all. But he blew it with the same kind of slow start and inconsistant uninspired play we are seeing right now.

True story.

I agree with the majority of your article, but I disagree with your comments regarding Meyer and Saban. To insinuate that these 2 men are not dedicated to their families is incorrect, and only shows how desperate UGA is to throw any sort of insults at winning coaches.

I know for a fact that Steve Spurrier is a great family man and has made many sacrifices to balance his college coaching with his family, along with Meyer. You mentioned this about these coaches because they are successfull and 3 of them beat the pure living hell out of your program year in and year out. If UGA was winning against these coaches, then you would not mentioned them at all or made a kind reference.

I believe your statement was totally off the mark, and quite frankly, if you had a booze drinking, womanizing coach who was winning titles, UGA would be all behind that coach, so cut the crap.

I guess we might as well just face it- after 44 years as a true UGA fan, we really are a 2nd tier SEC program. Bottom line is that we just do not do the things that Championship Programs do- Recruit, mentor, develop (mentally and physically), COACH, Prepare, and Expect Excellence from our players. We expect it from our fans, but not our Team. We cannot even protect our state borders. It should be the Dream of most talented High School players in our state to play for UGA as a privelege. The best days of my life have been in Athens GA. Other than a RSF QB, who by the way is playing his heart out and way above where anyone of us expected him to be at this point, the expectations should have been high for this team- 12 to 15 seniors plus a large number of Juniors. Looks like we will be rebuilding for some time which is what I have heard for the last 3-4 years. Look at corporate America and the number of businesses that are longer around- Why?- Because if you are not constantly changing with the world around you- you will become extinct as a company- plain and simple. The same old same old will take you to your grave sooner or later. I guess we can only hope that Greg McGarity learned how to produce and be a champion at UF and not stand for the mediocrity any longer. I really like Coach Richt and what he stands for. I hope that he has come to love this University the way that most true alumni and fans do and will make the commitment and changes to do what Champions to compete

As far as Saban goes, yeal he wins and knows how to win and he also knows how to keep his players in line. Saban rules with the consequences and expects the best from his players.

These entire blogs have been a long time coming and I have been hammering of you folks for the past 5 years trying to get you to see the light, but no one listed. Your program is in total denial and if anyone said anything negative about CMR, you would be crucified. Well, you cannot stand around and criticize the coaching, then your program is broken.

Donnan came from Mars Hill with championship under his belt, including at stint at OU with another national title as an assistant coach. His resume was one of the most stellar in D-1 football and was correctly hired. However, you fired him when he was about to turn the corner and the rest is history.

Van Gorder is the coach who got you on the board and you should have promoted him to head coach before the left for Jax. During his first year he allowed less than 20 yards per game and just go back and look at your records during his tenure. This data will prove that Van Gorder was your winning catalyst, not CMR.

The reason that Alabama is so dominant now is due to defense. I said before that the first team to shut down the spread will win titles, and Saban has done just that. Saban comes for a DC background, and he knows that a good offense will win you games, but an excellent defense will win you championships.

WDE

And where’s the commitment to his players? Just because he plays the nice guy doesn’t change the fact that he refuses to build a culture of respect and civil obedience among his players.

Those coaches you mentioned (with the eception of the Urb) do, and they win at the highest level. UGA has absolutely nothing to hang its hat on this season:

- Your offense is anemic
- Your defense is horrid
- Your team is undisciplined
- Your coordinators blame the players
- You won the Fulmer Cup.

Tell me ONE thing good about the UGA program right now. I could understand if UGA wasn’t winning but was running their program the right way. If you say you’re proud to be a Georgia Bulldog right now, I feel very bad for you- your standards are way too low.

It’s going to be interesting to see what McGarity does, the situation has now gone far beyond the UGA nation. You hear the question on the national sports shows, is CMR on the hot seat. Most experts indicate he has one more year to right the ship. I am apparently among the few that believe McGarity could surprise everyone and make a change at the end of the year. How long is it going to take for UGA fans to realize that UGA is simply no longer relevant in the SEC? In the national picture, UGA isn’t even a blip on the radar, and hasn’t been since the preseason #1 ranking two years ago.

Sit back and be grateful for the seven or eight wins you’ll get every year. Coaching genius Mark Richt may take you to 8-4 or even 9-3 occasionally, but Florida will still win the SEC, meaning no BCS bowls and no top 10 final ranking. Most years, UGA will be very lucky to finish in the top 25, and only after a big bowl win over a nobody opponent.

It’s a different world now, and Dawg fans need to adjust their expectations downward to reflect reality.

Unfortunately nothing is going to change until UGA changes its mediocre coaching. That’s where the difference is, and that’s why everyone outside Dawgtard Nation just laughs at Dawg fans getting so excited year after year about what a great recruiting class UGA gets. It doesn’t matter how many blue chip high school players go to UGA, they simply don’t get the coaching they would get at Florida or Alabama, to name two schools whose programs are far ahead of UGA. And that’s not going to change as long as Mark Richt is in Athens.

Get your heads out of the sand and face reality. And mediocrity and irrelevance.

And get used to the feeling of hobnail boots grinding into your face.

It is in em they just play like drunks most of the year and sober up around November, or the coaches do. Some of these game plans are written to keep the players happy and show off the recruits, then they play Tech and suddenly they understand ball control with rushing the football, defense with discipline. Gatorbait, with the right set of circumstances CMR could become reenergized under McGarity’s leadership.

It appears CMR lost his fire. The reasons for that we as outsiders can only speculate. Could it be because he was a Christian man, with his values deeply rooted in faith. Then having to working for someone with the character of our former AD, maybe his committment was eroding without him realizing why. I know these are deep psychological assumptions but they could play a part in the overall picture. CMR is human and as humans we do change, err in our ways, etc.

Maybe McGarity tinkers with CMR’s psyche, even mentors him a bit, inspires him, and we have a Cinderella story. That’s what I hope for. Will it happen? I don’t know but it would be the best scenario for all. If McGarity can’t fix Richt (as a coach), then he will ultimately have to go.

Either way McGarity was a home run.

You have been SEC has beens for how long now? And, you are even falling from the second tier in the SEC behind Alabama and Florida. The program has been flat the last several years at the very least. All you seem to care about is bashing the programs you deem to be lesser, such as Tech and South Carolina. Stop looking down your noses at them and start looking up to where the program should be, at least fighting to be somebody in the conference. Quit making excuses, wake up and get that program on the level it should be. You’ll never be anybody again if all you have to worry about is losing to the likes of USC and Arkansas.

Can’t you see that Mark Richt will never beat Nick Saban and Urban Myer again? Mark Richt is not even as good of a coach as Ron Zook. The GA team is not even an average SEC football team anymore. That is why the games are starting at 12:00 noon. You are not important. You mean nothing in the world of football. You are barley one step above Vanderbilt in the world of football. Well, we can still beat Tech and “make” our year. Somehow I had envisioned more of and from my Dawgs. We have become irrelevant to the likes of Bama, the Gators, LSU, and now even Carolina. We have top 10 recruiting classes 4 out of every 5 years, so do not tell me we do not have talent, however, maybe Richt and company need to look at some high character kids that want to learn and will bust their tails to play for UGA, instead of all 4 & 5 “star” guys who wre just here for a jumping off place for the NFL. I am sick of all the arrest and distractions, and am tired of my school being a laughing stock and joke around the country, and believe me due to the summer we just had we are a joke everywhere but in this state. I have always liked Richt, but if all he can come up with is his one game suspension for a minor opponet there will never be real discipline in this program. As much as it hurts to say, maybe some of the things being said are true, and that is why we now have this perception nationwide. Like I said, I am tired of being embarrassed and having to defend my school over and over again, because no one is really doing anything about it. Get some high character kids that really love UGA, and I bet things will start turning around in a hurry. There are good 3 “star” atheletes out there who have good character and would make good and even great players…anyone ever here of Mark Ingram at Alabama? He was a 3 “star” recruit. Wake up coaches and do some real work and evaluaton instead of taking Newbergs sheet and offering every 4 and 5 star guy.

This is off subject, but worth a mention… i now respect boise state because of this (not sure if many of you caught it)…but here is how a coach instills respect, discipline and class in his players (anybody see Richt doing this?):

When star receiver Austin Pettis somersaulted into the end zone following a 58-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter Saturday against Wyoming, his coach wasn’t content with a stern dress-down. He benched him the rest of the way. “There’s a right way to do it and a wrong way,” said Petersen. “… Message sent.”

I disagree that there is less love , it is a shared disappointment, sympathy and depression because of a negative outcome. The players fill worst because they are the ones that are living through it. So their highs and lows will be a lot greater than the fans and students. I think the players know that you don’t “high five” them after they lose. Nobody is very happy or fill like celebrating a lost.
Now for players that get into trouble or get greedy and try and make money after already receiving at free $100,000+ education for me that would be lack of love. You don’t patronize or sympathize with these guys at all. Because of their selfish , stupid actions they have affected the entire team. And we can beat Bama, not the past two years we haven’t- but don’t forget the pure domination just prior to that. You on the other hand, with your preseason #1 team, got absolutely humiliated by Bama.

Auburn does more with less. We aren’t a “University of” school, we do have a very elite in-state rival. But how is it that we have always held our own and are currently (and significantly) improving? Dawg Fans,

I’m liking what I’m reading here for the most part! Keep the faith in our boys!! We do know that their a better team than their record shows at this point, but there is a lot of football yet to be played! We need to stay behind our boys and keep in mind that 1) their young, 2) we’ve yet to field our projected starting line up, 3) their working their asses off to produce a winning effort!

Those are two quality teams that we’ve lost to the past two weeks…don’ t forget that either.

One week at a time, and this week the task at hand is to travel west to Starkville and come home with a W. Plain and simple…

Bust ass, do work, and play UGA smash mouth football….if they do that then the chances of accomplishing that goal are very good!

Let’s go Dawgs!!!!

UGA “should” take care of business on Saturday, and I believe they probably will. I’d like to believe SC & ARK are 2 of the better teams in the SEC this year & UGA has some wins coming (including UT). Right now, I’d say a 4 loss season (at best) and 6 loss (at worst). If we can somehow beat UF & GT the season will be (somewhat) salvaged. ;)

September 22nd, 2010
2:59 pm

After 10 years, UGA should re load. Ee have not been a fine team in years. The Stafford/Moreno years are doubly sorry, because we did not win squat with them here. One Sugar Bowl win with them and a mighty Chic Fil A Bowl win vs sad sack lil ole VaTech and a Capitol One win vs Michigan State and that is it ……….three and done is Rich’t highwater mark.

Folks ……………..deep down Richt wants to do his missionary work. Maybe he just cannot come to grips with that. He has obligations with coaches and he cannot face letting them all know …….that he is ready to move on.

If UGA ends up like 4-7 or 5-7, Mark Richt will resign. This season is already projecting to be that ugly. UGA is at the crossroads and losing Damon Evans in retrospect, might be the best thing to happen.

UGA has a serious minded AD and home boy UGA man. He will make changes. He needs to start by kicking out of school some punks up there posing as UGA football players.

I do not know if any Auburn players were arrested, but the fact is your coach recruited a player who has a previous record of arrest. All Georgia players who were recruited had no prior record. Your coach chose to take this player because you had no quarterback on campus and he wanted to win. CMR kicked one of his quarterbacks off the team even though it hurt their depth. You can not respond to this because your coach sold his soul to win games this year. Enough said just don’t act holy about another school.

As for the article, there are a lot of us out here that support our team. If I could make it to Starksville, I would be there screaming as well, but we only make one road trip each year, and it is to Jacksonville. We’ve turned bad situations around during past seasons and CMR, this staff and these players will do it again. One thing I’ll never sit still for is taking any crap from a fan, or fans, of any other school, and I’m sure not gonna start now. None of my Tech, or Tenn, or Fla, or Aub, or you-name-it friends have ever been rude enough to say anything like what I’m reading here to my face and neither have I to them. I’ve never understood how anyone – even an alumnus – could support and take pride in UGA’s football team. When you look at their history for the past forty years, how can anyone ignore Jan Kemp and the “remedial studies” scam, the Jim Harrick fiasco, the DUIs in the athletic office, the DUIs and other arrests of players, the #1 party school tag (i.e., the most drunk students), the suspensions and outright dismissals, the Fulmer/Richt Cup, and on and on?

Just asking.

I wonder if any of the books about UGA football include the perspective of someone speaking for the late Jan Kemp? The perspective that “student” athletes like Lindsay Scott were playing years without taking college level courses? That the proudest moment of the football program was earned by players who never earned a single college credit?

Dawgtards love to return to 1980, but their memories are really short when it comes to remembering an earthshaking event that happened a few years later that showed the world what a joke UGA athletes were and what a scam artist their beloved Vince Dooley was (and is). So for all those dawgtards with short memories or who think their athletes are actually taking real courses and trying to graduate, here’s the quote that broke the trial wide open and showed what a slimeball Dooley is:

O. Hale Almand Jr., a lawyer for the defense, offered a justification for the favorable treatment accorded the athletes, citing a hypothetical player. “We may not make a university student out of him,” he told the jury, “but if we can teach him to read and write, maybe he can work at the post office rather than as a garbageman when he gets through with his athletic career.”

Nothing has changed at UGA, they just do a slightly better job of keeping things quiet, but that’s hard to do when 44 of your player-thugs have been arrested, isn’t it?

Take away a fumble, two bad defensive plays. and a bone headed offensive call an third and four and both games could have been won. The third and four play shoul have had Murray on a rollout with the option of running or passing, You had two plays to make the first down and try to get closer for a game winning field goal (Ark game). Georgia’s problem is that most UGA fans never attended the school, so if the team isn’t winning their is no reason for the fans to stick by the team. Alums will stick with the team much longer than the non-Alum fans. Add to that the fact that UGA has to put 90,000 butts in the seats each game, and that is the reason why UGA and the coaching staff recruits marginal academic players and puts up with nonsense from the players already on campus.

What’s happening here is UGA fans are now faced with the reality that CMR can’t get it done….I think it’s that simple. 9 years and the hopes for playing for a NC are vanishing quickly….But I will have to say that Nick Saban is brining out the old Alabama fans in large numbers.

SEC Fact Finder(the real one)

September 22nd, 2010
10:04 pm

At a time in which UGA is 0-2 in conference play and searching for a positive spin on the remainder of the season, we need to look back at some notes from the Richt era. But first lets go look at former coach Jim Donnan. Jim did one heck of a job during his time, and as with U.S. Presidents, they foundation they build is not usually felt for in many cases. Jim Donnan had a record of 40-19 during his tenure at UGA. Donnan recruited some of the great players that CMR used to make his run during the first 3 and 4 years at the helm of UGA. Some of the players who were on CMR teams that Donnan signed: Bailey, Grant, Greer, Jennings, Pass, Stroud, Seymour, B.Bailey, Carter, Edwards, Gilbert, Stevens just to name a few. Players who committed to UGA during Donnan’s last season and signed when CMR was named coach: Sullivan, Green, Brown, Clemens, M.Smith, Geathers, Thornton, and Pollack. So Donnan left CMR with a pretty stacked group, and did a pretty good job of coaching these players.

Many of these players on the Donnan list went on to lucrative NFL careers. The biggest thing Donnan did was recruit big Defensive Linemen and enforce strength conditioning. He knew that in the SEC that Defense wins and Big, Strong, Fast Players control the line of scrimmage. Looking back at CMR’s recruits you will notice the dropoff in these big DL, OL who are strong enough to move bodies around. Before you start bringing up names, let me ask you one question: Why would K. Smart mandate that CMR hire a new Strength and Conditioning coach before he would accept the job at UGA? The answer: he has learned under SABAN that big strong players win championships.
The type of players that CMR has mainly recruited work very well in the ACC, but this is not the ACC. Passive play is not going to win for you and now the dawgs have more holes to fill than even CMR can fill. Can UGA line up play after play and run the ball against an LSU, Florida, Alabama?
Can UGA’s defense line up play after play and stop a running game(a power running game)? We have already seen USC take control of a game and win it down the stretch. You can blame Grantham for the game plan, but the truth of the matter is it comes down to strong, big players with a winning attitude. Does UGA have that mentality?
CMR is 50-24 during his time at UGA, the problem is he was 8-4, 13-1, 11-3 and 10-2 with alot of players Donnan had stockpiled in the program. The cupboard was full when CMR got there and he utilized the talent and added a few key pieces to the puzzle with some great skill people.

Last years 8-5, a disappointing 10-3 season with many many 1st and 2nd round draft picks, a 12-3 season prior to that, and a 9-4 season prior to that is not going to win you very much collateral.

The question is how much more of the future mortgage is UGA willing to sacrifice or invest in CMR?

SEC Fact Finder(the real one)

September 22nd, 2010
10:18 pm

Let me add one big piece of the argument about CMR. You can go research this and it will be proven true:

The state of Georgia is annually the 4th or 5th best in high school prospects. The state of Florida is usually ahead of Texas, California and Georgia. This is pretty amazing because of the per capita population in Georgia is around 15th or 16th.

A great coach wins his state in recruiting, and then goes outside the state and steals a player of two. Now CMR has gone outside and got some good ones, but he is getting picked off by Tennessee, South Carolina, FSU, Florida, Auburn, Alabama, Southern Cal, Notre Dame.
Three or four years of average recruiting is going to catch up with UGA.

We are mid level SEC at best now.
Saban has Alabama in another Universe.
Florida will play Bama for the SEC title, again.
Top recruits, who want to play for championships are realizing Richt is not what everyone thought he was. More and more will go elsewhere.
Crowell will go to Bama and play for the NT several times in his career. Who could blame him??
Richt will be gone in a few years and be replaced by someone who will maintain the “middle of the pack” trend for UGA. Even though UGA makes top 5 money and could hire a bigtime coach, Adams will not hire someone that might overshadow him.
We’re stuck in the middle and likely to remain there for the foreseeable future.
It sucks.

Only in today’s world do people think finishing second builds hope. Winning is what matters. Please don’t give excuses at a program like Georgia. Go become a Mississippi fan if you want to settle for anything less.

I’ve heard some stupid comments before, but nothing as bad as Josh Davis’s comment (”nobody wants to go to a university where the football team isn’t doing well at the time”). Wow. Are all of the UGA football players this ignorant and arrogant? Newsflash moron — the VAST majority of students at ANY legitimate University COULD CARE LESS what the football team does!!! They are there because they want to have a sucessful career and life — not because of what some immature little kids (and keep it in perspective folks — ALL college players are KIDS!) do on a field to entertain the trailer park – dwelling, drunken masses!! I suppose there are those who would choose a school based on how they perform athletically, but unless you are a TOTAL moron, who will party your way right out of school within the first few semesters, that is totally irrelevant. Mr. Davis — are you really so ignorant as to believe that ANYONE will even remember who you are 1 or 2 years from now? Or that anyone involved with the program at an SEC football factory actually gives a damn what happens to you once your eligibility is used up? Or that anyone can tell you what the record was for their colleges team in any given year that they attended? Of course not, because your football program is TOTALLY IRRELEVANT to the people living in the real world. Methinks Mr. Davis is still mentally in Junior-High school, but I suppose that would be about average for a typical UGA player!!!

Many of you Georgia fans think your program is a good as the Alabamas, LSU’s, Florida’s…well in the 100 plus years of national champions from every possible poll……UGA has 4 titles…heck ole miss has three …with all the talent in this state….and the lack of titles…..you guys know the guy with the big whistle currently is average..

Good news bad news…. good news is we have been beaten by 2 up and coming teams. SC is on the rise and so is Arkansas. The sad reality to that is we are on the decline and that is hard to swallow for sure.

Had hoped for better and now the schedule, which looked favorable, now looks tough to overcome. Vandy is no longer candy, Auburn has their groove on, Florida has a psychological edge over us and Mrs. State looks like they will be a tough team to beat. Another potential up and coming team. Where is Colorado?

No matter how glamorous the team is at some point you have to measure by resuts. Our results are concerning for sure.

I see us kicking in gear and winning out and I also see winning only a few of the remaining games. Don’t know which way this will go.

Go DAWGS.

We lose to SC on their turf and them this year with talent for a change…ok, suck it up. THEN, we lost at home in the last minute of the game against a Heisman candidate and the 10th ranked team in the country….deal with it. Here is the deal, we could have won both of those games with AJ Green in the lineup, but…he’s not in the lineup is he? He got himself suspended for the first 4 games of the year. I say, expel AJ for screwing up the team this year and for the huge distraction surrounding his boneheaded move. AJ, you dont deserve the silver platter for screwing up the team, the morale, the season and now the perception of this organization nationwide. Go some place else, go to the NFL, just go.

Richt coaches in a state with an extremely fertile recruiting base consisting of majority of kids who have favored georgia entire life. Only in stateschool they need to compete against enjoys least favoritestatus among the populace. As befitting most long time powers Georgia plays a schedule dotted with at least 2 and often times 3 gimmes and Vandy and Kentucky–2 schools Florida last lost to in 1986. Therefore we arelooking at what should be 5 sure wins so if he goes 4-3 against the rest of the scheule we will have Phi Beta Kappas saying “The man wins 9 games a year so how can you question him?” I do believe this is the type of insanity that will lead to it being another 30 years before we hold that nice crystal recently won by Florida. LSU and Alabama. BUT we don’t carebecause marky Mark has a very good winning percentage. LetCaldwell,Mullen and about60 others coach under these circumstances and check out records.

Also name another college power that has been collectively owned by its chief rival with the coach lasting this long? HELL, the man was 1-2 againstRon Zook and barely managed to squeak out a win against Florida’s worst team of this decade.

All of you red necks get over it. The Dawgs are out of the SEC East, The Championship game and any BCS bowl game. It is over for this year! Maybe next year. Georgia needs to get out of the SEC and join the ACC where they have doormats like Duke and Wake to play along with their other gimmes they schedule every year. They are not listed in any poll and won’t be this year. MSU will kick their asses and deafen them with cowbells. What a beautiful way to go into fall-watching and hearing all this squalling from the rednecks.

You don’t see as much of the love when the perception is that you underachieve relative to your talent level. Also, when legit questions can be raised about your heart (Florida last two years, Tennessee game, etc.). Contrary to popular perception, college football fans can handle losing to better teams, what they can’t handle are beatdowns (UF and Tenn.) and sloppy losses to inferior opponents (Kentucky, Vandy, South Carolina, and Tenn.). Richt’s teams have been serving up large doses of both since the end of the ‘05 season.

Most of the negative comments towards Georgia and CMR come from Tech fans posing as disgruntled UGA fans. I hate the Tech posers that come on UGA blogs.

I hope McGarrity drops Tech from our schedule like second period french. We could pick up Clemson or Notre Dame or FSU every year earlier in the schedule and play one of our SEC games like Kentucky as the last game of the year.

We might not win as many against Clemson, FSU, or Notre Dame as we win against Tech, but those schools’ people have a lot more class than the Tech haters, you know – the Wanna Bees.

And it would cut into the GTAA revenue so deeply that they would probably start running financial deficits (again).

So what do you think Dawg fans?

Would all of you other real Dawg fans out there like to dropkick Tech off the schedule and be done with their smart mouth arses?

After all, they have always needed us for their program and we do not need them.

0-2 doesnt mean you have to tie a cement block around your neck and jump off that high bridge . People forget there is a new system with the D. It takes longer than 4 weeks of practices to get evryone on the same page and to know where they have to be on each play. It’s going to take the season to see how everyone gets it . take away the 2 busted coverages and its a different story. There will be a time when those big plays don’t happen and the D looks good . Don’t be bandwagoneers.

It doesn’t matter if we win the rest of our games! I am just sick and tired of waiting to turn the corner. PERIOD. Does not anyone understand. An organization goes as its owner goes. And CMR is the owner of these Georgia BUlldogs. It cannot be put any plainer than that. As far as being a christian man and all: WELL are you telling me that the other good/great coaches in this league are not or less christian than coach Richt. Please. Its about winning and losing.

we need a new coach. Mark Richt is a great GUY not COACH. He has been here for 10 years now. yeah we won a couple of division titles, but those are not national titles. Thats what we want. With UGA’s talent, we should have won a title by now. Im sorry, but 10 years is long enough to get it right. Its time to go coach, and take Bobo with you.

UGA is in a very fortunate situation, if they keep improving every week they could still have a very good season. Because of their schedule with hard work, improvement, and a little luck they could still be playing for something meaningfull at the end of the season. There no reason to be down right now, because there is still allot of hope left, but tonight is when their season has to turn around. They have had three weeks to get the bugs worked out and after tough opponents they finally are hitting a soft swing in the schedule. They need to use this to regain a little confindence and too keep improving. GO DAWGS!!

The UGA football Bulldogs have hit rock bottom! It simply does not get any worse than this shet. Time to fire not only Mark Wretch and Mike Dodo but the whole bunch of clueless losers! This was a total embarrassment from start to finish. What is it with that idiot #3? The football was less than a foot from him. All he has to do is make one football play, one, for a touchdown! How did this ignoramus get into college. Oh. I forgot. It is UGA also known as Thug U! Completely unspirited debacle. Enough to make every true Bulldog fan outraged. I AM! Very much so. This cannot be tolerated. Firings are long past due. Bulldogs are official laughingstock of Southeastern Conference! Truly sad. I am too utterly disgusted and nauseated to comment further. Damn this!
