ATHENS – Georgia players are well aware of how their 0-2 SEC record is being received and reviewed by some fans and fellow students.
“Yeah, it’s different [on campus],” offensive tackle Josh Davis said Tuesday. “You don’t see as much of the love as you used to when you won a couple of games. But that’s to be expected; nobody wants to go to a university where the football team isn’t doing well at the time.
“We have great fans,” Davis said, “and they’re not used to losing like this. We’re not used to losing like this. . . . All we have to do is come out and win games, and everybody will be happy then. . . . I’ve heard things, but you got to take it with a grain of salt. It’s not [the fans'] fault we lost games; it’s our fault we lost games.”
When a reporter prefaced a question with the observation that fans aren’t happy with the team’s start, coach Mark Richt replied: “They’re not? Neither am I. Neither is my mom, I can tell you that.”
As for how the team is dealing mentally with the 0-2 SEC start, Richt said: “Everybody showed up at work, and we worked. That’s all we can ask right now. . . . I’m not really even worried how they feel right now. I’m more worried about how they work. If they are in a good mood and they work hard, or if they are in a bad mood and work hard, I don’t really care right now. As we get closer to the game, we’ll kind of work on the emotional part.”
Wide receiver Tavarres King said the team’s emotional state is fine. “Everyone is still upbeat,” he said. “No one is down. . . . There’s a lot of football left to play and a lot left to be said.”
Said wide receiver Kris Durham: “It’s disappointing, frustrating, whatever adjective you want to throw at it. It is. It’s not what we had pictured. It’s not what we had dreamed. But it is what has happened, and we have to take what’s positive out of it.”

We remain mediocre and the state of Georgia will continue to go without a championship for a major sport. Is there a team that will give us a championship anytime soon? Maybe the Falcons can get it done. That’s our only hope right now!

Will the line “We’re getting better each week” still work for dog fans if Miss St wins? It’s a very real possibility. Face mediocrity, you’ve got it.

MARK RICHT SINCE 2007 HAS ALWAYS SAID “WE ARE STILL MATHEMATICALLY IN IT”. I THINK THAT STATEMENT IS BEING DELUSIONAL, UNLESS THE DAWGS TAKE WINNING ON IT’S OWN HAND AND NOT DEPEND ON OTHER SEC EAST TEAMS TO DEFEAT EACH OTHER.

Dawgs should win this week and then get AJ back and become a different team…..Would be funny if we end of tied with Carolina and Florida for the East…It would kill Carolina and they seem to be no longer shuffling their feet, mumbling and staring at the ground this year. they lose to 2 tough games in the west and Florida, we will tie them. I think they go to the Dome though…..if someone gives them directions how to get there……LOL

For once, can we just go out and play lights out football from start to finish???? To do that, the coaches have got to quit being so damn conservative and let it all hangout and whip some ass.
@ Toccoa….I am a true Dawgfan sir, and i cant stand the poor effort we’ve been getting from our team. I will always support my team….just dont know if i can support the coaching staff.

I’ve never understood how anyone – even an alumnus – could support and take pride in UGA’s football team. When you look at their history for the past forty years, how can anyone ignore Jan Kemp and the “remedial studies” scam, the Jim Harrick fiasco, the DUIs in the athletic office, the DUIs and other arrests of players, the #1 party school tag (i.e., the most drunk students), the suspensions and outright dismissals, the Fulmer Cup, and on and on?
As disgraceful and humiliating as it is, I don’t see many alums and fans demanding an end to this sordid activity. It sets UGA apart as the kind of school most people abhor, and it’s become an embarrassment to the whole state of Georgia.
Will it never end? Apparently not while Mark Richt is at UGA. Richt is perhaps the biggest hypocrite in the United States. But even with all the cheating and lawlessness that he ignores, he still can’t win the SEC.
So you’re paying him to be BCS champions, but he can’t even win his SEC division. So why do you pay him millions of dollars a year?
Just asking.

Lame chicken,
considering SC has beaten us 3 times in 10 years, i bet those t-shirts are hot items.
Think about the state of your program.
SC celebrates for months after a fluke win over UGA.
UGA considers it underachieving that we lost to SC.
If UGa had won, UGA would have gone on to the next game. No big deal.
We sure wouldn’t have printed t-shirts.

Buzzer and Blair one in the same. All Tech “football personnel” are not boardroom material…..A lot of Tech’s ex African American players are working At Air Tran in Baggage handling. I know that for a FACT. What a waste of a “good” Tech Education….That’s a joke……A lot of these guys are “propped” up at Tech….Just like ALL other schools….. Black and White guys. Optimistic Dawg-
“If you look at the record UGA usually has a pretty good season when
they lose to South Carolina.”
I love the enthusiasm, but isn’t this statement in itself contradictory? We shouldn’t lose to South Carolina. That loss in itself tarnishes the year. At least it does for me. I want my dawgs to take a step up, not back.

Bradley might be slightly nuts – the only easy ones left look like Vandy and Idaho State. Florida is hopeless, Auburn there will make us underdwags, Colorado there will be tough, and the others are toss-ups at best. I’m calling Tech a toss-up because it is at home and if we can’t get up for that game ….

Georgia has the 2nd most money of ALL div 1 schools. Georgia has a State loaded year after year with some of the best high school talent in the country……………The next guy might put all this together with a great staff………..and for the haters…………It would curtains…LOL

Buzzer called us out above, and has some good points. Why do the AJC sportswriters ignore most of this instead of their “boys will be boys” attitude?

Just as I predicted, UGA’s program has gone into the toilet and all you UGA Ostriches have your heads in the sand. UGA= declining program that will look up to Kentucky and Tennessee this year before it is over. I should revise my 7-5 predicition for UGA, you will be lucky to win 6 games. The only gimme is Idaho, the rest of the games at best will be toss ups. UGA loses at least 4 more games (UF, Kentucky, Auburn, GT) and probably one of the games against Tenn, Vandy and Miss State. GT will need a truck to haul off the souvenier hedges after they put the nail in the CMR coffin.

There’s been a lot of criticism with regard to the Bobo and Richt’s creativity on offense. “No reverses, not many screens, no trickeration, etc”. However, coaches generally run this type of play to put the ball in a play-maker’s hands. Who is UGA’s play maker? AJ Green. This week is the first week that we’ve known for sure that Green will not play. Is it possible that all of our “creative plays” are designed for AJ? All I’m saying is that the lack of creativity could possibly revolve around the absence of AJ. I think the offense becomes much more unpredictable when he returns to the action. Until then, Let’s get a W in Mississippi!

You guys are funny. Get a clue, there’s a problem, you are not very good. You do know the state of Ga produces some of the best players in the nation? Ga really doesn’t even have to recruit. So therefore, what’s with the excuses?
