Branden Smith, Shaun Chapas won’t play for Dogs today

ATHENS — Georgia cornerback-punt returner Branden Smith and fullback Shaun Chapas will not play in today’s game against Arkansas, UGA said this morning.

Smith will miss the game because of what coach Mark Richt called “concussion-like symptoms” from a hit in practice this week, and Chapas is sidelined with a sprained ankle suffered last week against South Carolina.

Also, defensive lineman Justin Anderson and inside linebacker Marcus Dowtin will miss  miss today’s game because of a toe injury and shoulder stinger, respectively.

Meanwhile, UGA says tailback Caleb King, who has been battling a sprained ankle, will be dressed out and “available to play” today.  He missed last week’s game with a sprained ankle and, after practicing well early in the week, was limited at Thursday’s practice. It’s unclear how much he’ll play today.

Fred Munzenmaier will start in Chapas’ place at fullback. Richt said earlier in the week that Carlton Thomas and Logan Gray would be the next options at punt returner if Smith could not go.

The back ups can now prove to the wrold that they too are first teamers. I moved up the corporate ladder of a firm when the man ahead of me retired in the early 70s. My opportunity it was and then, I retired about 30+ year later. See? Attrition is the normal mode gang. Let us get past this pathetic “Oh we do not have AJ “mode.

UGA went to the Cotton Bowl and defeated # 1 Texas in the year AFTER Walker turned pro. UGA needs only to MAN UP like UGA did in that era. THYE were men. Today’s UGA kids? Sad.

Go Dogs.

Good grief. With Chapas out we can’t run the Big Dawg formation in short yardage. Also means Munzemaier can’t backup at RB, so Ealey has to stay healthy. King is a sub-par option even when healthy, and Thomas still scares me when he runs.

Missing Smith will hurt a little on PR’s, but is he even getting any snaps at CB yet? I would think missing him would hurt badly against a passing team like Arkansas, but I am just not sure how much he has been playing at CB so far.

As for Anderson .. I didn’t even know we had any starting defensive lineman. Sure couldn’t tell last week.

ya steve brandon is getting reps at corner but normally hes playing nickel or on the filed when boykin is taking a breather…but hes the fastest player on the field when hes on it so its gonna hurt a bit.. i like munz so we can still run all our power formations without chapas… the question i have today is will we see 5star prospect Marlon Brown finally get some deep balls… i mean hes 6′5 with good speed..all i saw last week was him running slants…and as for caleb king…we just need to rally behind ealey he should have a makeup game for us in play…well im gonna go get in that stadium…. GOOOO DawGSS

If we lose again today, which is probable, I think we’ll be watching the beginning of the end of this staff. UGA has clearly slipped behind inferior programs over the last 3 years. And I don’t get the sense that Richt knows how to turn it around. This team has no urgency, no fire. I think losing doesn’t bother them enough. We need a fiery motivator and CMR just isn’t that. Richt’s biggest mistake was holding onto Willie Martinez too long. In 2 years I think Grantham could build an elite D but this staff doesn’t have that long.

Apparently the rest of the DB’s feel asleep as UGA gives up a long TD to an uncovered receiver on 3rd and 1.

If Georgia loses this game, they are in trouble. Two loses in the conference at this early junction in the season, that doesn’t bold well for Mark Richt. It may be time to go over to Alabama and get a UGA product to be our next head coach.

NOT A GOOD DAY AT ALL

BOBO is the problem. I can sit at my house and call the plays that he is going to run. Richt is going to be fired if he doesnt do something with bobo.

The whole entire season is all washed up. There will be no SEC East Champions as the Dawgs was predicted. The secondary sucks. They got burned all day Saturday. The Quarterback must have been thinking that he was playing for the old Dallas Cowboys where you had minutes instead of seconds to stay in the pocket to throw the ball. He has a lot of growing to do as being a Quarterback in the SEC. Ealey is definitely playing up to his potential. He sucks right now. He was a better Running back Last year. I guess by having his likeness featured on the front page of Sports illustrated has his head swollen. he feels as if he does not have to block for the Quarterback, and all he has to do is be a ball carrier and tip toe through the hole with it. I am very ashamed of the Dawgs performance against South Carolina and Arkansas.

If the Dawgs don’t get better in ALL aspects, they wont win any SEC games this year, and by golly as Donald Trump says: The Coaching Staff will have to meet in the Board Room because “SOMEBODY IS GOING BE FIRED!!!!!!
