ATHENS — Georgia cornerback-punt returner Branden Smith and fullback Shaun Chapas will not play in today’s game against Arkansas, UGA said this morning.
Smith will miss the game because of what coach Mark Richt called “concussion-like symptoms” from a hit in practice this week, and Chapas is sidelined with a sprained ankle suffered last week against South Carolina.
Also, defensive lineman Justin Anderson and inside linebacker Marcus Dowtin will miss miss today’s game because of a toe injury and shoulder stinger, respectively.
Meanwhile, UGA says tailback Caleb King, who has been battling a sprained ankle, will be dressed out and “available to play” today. He missed last week’s game with a sprained ankle and, after practicing well early in the week, was limited at Thursday’s practice. It’s unclear how much he’ll play today.
Fred Munzenmaier will start in Chapas’ place at fullback. Richt said earlier in the week that Carlton Thomas and Logan Gray would be the next options at punt returner if Smith could not go.
