ATHENS – Georgia might be without cornerback and punt returner Branden Smith for Saturday’s game against Arkansas.
Smith did not practice Wednesday because of what coach Mark Richt called “concussion-like symptoms.”
“He actually got knocked out of bounds at yesterday’s practice and had a contact-related headache,” Richt said Wednesday night. “I’m not even sure on his status [for Saturday], to be honest with you.”
If Smith doesn’t play, Carlton Thomas and Logan Gray “would be the top two candidates” to return punts, Richt said. Sanders Commings and Jordan Love would get more work at corner, Richt said. Smith also would be missed on offense, where he tends to be used for a few plays per game.
Other injury updates: Fullback Shaun Chapas, who sprained an ankle against South Carolina, did not practice Wednesday. He was in a walking boot and remains questionable at best for Saturday. . . . Nose Justin Anderson is doubtful for the game, Richt said, because of “a turf toe issue that was reaggravated.”

Studs not thugs–huh? Wow…that is inciteful. B. Smith is a stud…and he has not broken any rules yet. He had some trouble in a class but got it together. Why would you say something like that? Maybe he got his bell rung in practice going all out–trying to get better. We got clowns like ‘Dropping like flies’ shaming a kid. You think Branden wants to miss the game!?
If that totally ignorant post was directed at all the players, it is just as bad. Players don’t want to get hurt stupid. And Studs get hurt too. You think T Sturdivant said “Man, I sure hope I can get hurt and miss 2 consecutive years…and if that works out I can’t wait to read some coward on a blog question my toughness!”
Seems like the Heisman trophy winner from last year missed the first 2 weeks. What did he do wrong smart person?

What is all this little bumps and sprains keping these players from playing. Players in the past were knocked out and were only out two or three plays, some even played with broken bones and never complained. Now it seems their pampered to the point they look for an excuse not to play. Your going to get your bell rung and get bruised and bleed some..thats football! These guys need to be men and not little pamperd children. Football teams in the past played both ways offense and defense, now they rotate in and out so much they don’t get the chance to really crack somebody. Football is a violent and agressive game and meant to be played that way. Remember whimps finish last!!!

Welcome to UGA’s rebuilding process.
Lots of 4 and 5 star athletes (Marlon Brown is a bust by the way) on the field but not a single leader out there on either side of the ball that commands the respect of not only his teammates but his opposition as well. Green is uber talented but not a vocal lynchpin for the offense. Leadership starts from the top and in that regard Richt has dropped the ball. An offensive line that lacked the fire or desire to bust open some seams for Ealey in Columbia…a defense that was “timid” in their tackling and aggression. There’s just no excuse for not having a fire up your butt to go out and light someone up every Saturday in front of 90000 plus rabid fans that would do anything to have the opportunity to suit up in the Red and Black.
Here’s to hoping we get some 3 star recruits that have a competitive fire in the mold of a Pollack, Greene, or Moreno.

EXCUSES
That is ALL we have EXCUSES
1ST everyone was giving Coach Richt’s “coaching staff” now in year 10 of this regime, a bye for this season since we have only freshmen quarterbacks.
Then we won the national championship in arrests / suspensions Fulmer Cup 2010, and # 2 All-Time Fulmer Cup Standings which started after our last visit to The SEC Championship Game 2005. All these distractions off the field was our next excuse.
Now, oh heavens alive who would have guessed it, Caleb King doesn’t feel good, poor little thing; and now it is injuries are our excuse.
10-11 LOSING RECORD vs SEC East after the 2005 SEC Championship Game to-date, amid a PROMOTION of the former 1-year Quarterbacks Coach we stole from Jacksonville State to be our Offensive Coordinator. And, we lose 15 seniors, 4-5 juniors after this season and a still suspended player we lose after this season not to mention the 5 walk-ons we gave Scholarships to for all the players booted from the team.
Someone is injured Coach Richt ? Poor guy. Jeez, you have no luck at all, do you ? You better feast on the Arkansas “Defense” of Bobby Petrino Coach Richt with your sorry-butt “coaching staff” or you and they can all hit the road GD it.
Quit your whining and beat someone, Coach Richt with your “coaching staff” you hired all of because they sit in your room with their eyes closed praying.

Anderson missed the first game because CMR wasn’t very smart. Anderson may have been able to handle the nose tackle job . But we will never know now because he wasn’t even given a chance. Now we here Anderson has turf toe and will probably miss the second game. That’s why my philosophy is play everybody especially Freshmen, Nobody red shirts unless they just are that bad learning the system.

Just head-scratching personnel moves by this “coaching staff” in the Coach Richt Era.
Caleb King made 6 straight starts at Tailback. Until he didn’t feel good last week. God Almighty is all I can say. Washaun Ealey is our leading rusher, not Caleb King who NEVER has been. And, they say we cannot run the football.
Washaun Ealey you recall had his Redshirt ripped off in the 3rd quarter of the 5th game, yet he was the # 11 best running back in America. They said we could not run the football, I point out again.
Branden Smith who had 1085 receiving yards his senior season, thrown 2 passes all season long last year. Void of Wide Receivers this season, we have thrown him 1 pass all this season.
Aron White, for catching all of a grand total of 3 passes his freshman year is made starter at TE until game 12 of our 13-game season in these 14-game seasons for the top teams, yet Orson Charles by direct comparison had 23 catches his freshman campaign. Has Aron White even made a catch this season ? No.
Zach Mettenberger, LSU scholarship offer in hand, had the best scrimmages of all UGA Quarterbacks, yet the coaching staff announced that he would redshirt with no injury and only Joe Cox with his chronic sore shoulder and record 17 interceptions we threw last season. Then, Joe Cox got the flu and even then only he played against un ranked in the Final AP Poll Top 25 Okie State who beat us. I called for Zach Mettenberger to be the QB at the time pre-game Okie State. He will have 3 years with LSU. 3 years. And, then he will go in the NFL Draft.
BoWeevil

With no wide receivers and with AJ Green playing what is it 4 games of the last dozen, we throw the football to the # 2 Wide Receiver in the nation Marlon Brown two times all season long. For this, he isn’t redshirted.
All these TE on the roster, and Orson Charles is not moved to WR.
All these WR issues, and Branden Smith thrown 1 pass all season this season. Again. Same as last year. You want a man like this, open in space. Duh. South Carolina was running the football. How much work did Branden get on defense with 37 carries by a true freshman who eschewed UGA’s offensive coaching staff for Steve Spurrier’s. Duh.
Move Bean Anderson to the DL because we had 3 DL drafted by the NFL. Then, don’t play him.
Recruiting coup of Kwame Geathers with half his family playing DL in the NFL and we don’t play him either. Give up 187 yards to a freshman tailback who refused to play for UGA. Us, with no TB I point out.
Another true freshman Tailback in this state, chose Florida over Georgia and left for there. Wait until you see what he does down there.
In the mealtime, we recruit an injured tailback here. He hasn’t played. In fact, our Starting Tailback told Ken Malcome that being TB at UGA is a “grind” and no fun at all. That is Caleb King’s resounding welcome to Ken Malcome to Georgia this year.
Our OL who have yet to block 1 game against a good run defense EVER, are said to be the best in the nation. So far they couldn’t block Louisiana Lafayette and made a poor South Carolina defense look like they all are Lombardi Trophy Winners.
BoWeevil
September 16th, 2010

Then, the Defensive Coordinator blasts Steve Spurrier for having a poor career in the NFL both as coach and as player. This AFTER they beat us 17-6 with 3 dropped touchdowns wide open in the end zone against his defense or the score would have been 50-6.
Coach Richt says he stays out of the way of these obvious men, who don’t need pre-game hyping to get them ready to NOT have a LOSING RECORD vs SEC East since SEC Championship Game 2005.
Mike Bobo says he has NO IDEA WHAT COACH RICHT MEANS BY OPENING UP THE OFFENSE. Mike, what that means is letting the only QB on the team with all receivers (0) covered, make a play by scrambling, D.A. He was the only 1 on the team making any plays in the first game. All with Coach Richt running the sidelines yelling at Aaron Murray to CUT IT OUT on national TV.
Redshirt best TB at UGA in 30 years, Knowshon Moreno so we only got to see him only 2 years. 1 of those 2 years with Knowshon Moreno we are the # 57 NCAA Rushing team in the country.
Tell us all Joe Tereshinski III is # 1 QB, Joe freaking Cox is # 2 and Matthew Stafford # 3 QB at UGA. Later on, with same Matthew Stafford who played every game for UGA while he was here, we are the NCAA # 87 Passing Offense. With Matthew Stafford.
Dontavius Jackson who should have been # 2 Tailback at UGA vs Louisiana Lafayette instead never got a single carry. No one knows what he might have done. No one but me. Presumably. He is duped by Tavarres King into driving TK’s SUV around Athens with 7 teenagers in it to go get drunk in TK’s SUV. TK suspended 1 game for that. Dontavius quit the team because of the lack of discipline given Tavarres King.
BoWeevil
September 16th, 2010
3:55 am
In the same SUV, Vance Cuff is given NO SUSPENSION for providing his own valid DL to the 7 to go buy alcohol with.
And, Branden Smith ALSO NOT SUSPENDED at all uses Vance Cuff’s DL to go buy the alcohol with it.
5 Walk-ons none of whom have YET to hit the field, ALL given Scholarships for all these players who quit or were kicked off the team.
Another Mike Bobo recruit, Top 10 QB Zach Mettenberger gropes a lady a coed in a Sorority he never met on her chest and backside. Another Mike Bobo recruit has sex with a 14-year old, whom everyone ran in here to say it was consensual sex in front of the Principal in a classroom. Also top 10 at his position. And, Coach Richt says he can still come here. He said the same about Michael Grant. You saw how that turned out, him whining to Admissions through the papers. Another Mike Bobo top 10 at his position recruit, beats up a coed little student at UGA. Coach Richt does nothing. Then he beats up her car, and Coach Richt suspended him for Louisiana Lafayette and for South Carolina. Then, he beats her up again at McWhorter Hall repeatedly picking her up and slamming her to the floor. Only then does FORGIVING Coach Richt throw him off the team.
We scored 6 points on offense against a defense certain to give up 40 this season, and you want to know why while you rush to make excuses for the QB who made the 6 points.
10-11 vs SEC East since the 2005 SEC Championship with the last Jim Donnan recruits, and you wonder why we cannot recruit the top offensive all-stars in this state of Georgia in the 2010 Signing Class and now again in the 2011 Signing Class.
Duh is all I can say.

Braden Smith hasn’t broken any rules.
B.S.
uggghh
B.S.
Branden Smith used Vance Cuff’s driver’s license, because he is the exact same size, build and face and because Vance Cuff’s DL shows he is 22.
He bought alcohol for the 7 teenagers in Tavarres King’s truck. Branden Smith still had Vance Cuff’s Driver’s License on his person when everyone in the vehicle either had their driver’s license suspended or were otherwise arrested on the spot.
THEN, Branden Smith ran afoul of the NCAA and we got ALL THAT BAD PRESS. They NEVER would tell us what that was all about. We know he was taking remedial course work. We know he had some kind of standardized test he had to take. Again. A year and a half AFTER he was accepted into Georgia.
Branden Smith is the only remaining on the team member of the 2009 Signing Class.
Coach Richt has not suspended him yet. Not that we know of. But lack of discipline on Coach Richt’s part, does not in the least mean that you can run in here and state that “Branden Smith has not broken any rules yet.”
We cover up so many illegal incidents here at UGA if the player is not arrested and thrown into jail, that you cannot run in here ugghh and make a single such statement about a single recruit of Coach Richt ever because it is MORE LIKELY they HAVE, then they have not. What are you going to say when the Judge asks Branden Smith where he got Vance Cuff’s DL and for what purpose ? What will Vance Cuff say ?
“Branden Smith has not broken any rules yet.”

“So, I suppose it’s Richt’s fault that Branden Smith had a concussion? So, he should go bc of stuff like that? Give me a break!”
I see now. We are 10 wins 11 losses to SEC East teams since the 2005 SEC Championship Game, a LOSING RECORD in our own DIVISION of our own conference. Coach Richt was touted as having the # 9 best recruiting class 2009 with Branden Smith, none of whom will play the day after tomorrow. Instead, they led us to the FULMER CUP NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, a 5-Loss Season and now 1-1 this season, losing 15 seniors after this season and 4-5 juniors. We have no Tailback. No OL. No one who can tackle. Just itty bitty corners. No bruiser at any safety position. No DL. Only just all freshmen Quarterbacks, 1 of whom looked scared and lost out there Saturday scoring 6 points on a pedestrian defense. We have too many TE but only 1 of them has even 1 catch all season, the rest all dropped. We have no 1 at all at wide receiver. We stole snaps with # 1 all Spring for what is now a WR so the QB would not be prepared. He the same QB whom the coaches let throw his arm out last Fall, missing 21 Fall Practices last year and of course, he was recruited here INJURED.
Coach Richt is a NICE GUY.
So, judge him on THAT, and not on coaching football, not on recruiting, not on personnel decisions of the players, not on his won/loss record vs SEC East teams the last now 5 years since the 2005 SEC CG, and do not hold Coach Richt responsible and accountable for his “coaching staff” all so sought after as they every one are.
Does that pretty much sum it up aarh ?
Nothing is Coach Richt’s fault. Just God’s.

I am so damn disappointed in this football program since the 2005 SEC Championship Game that I really don’t want to read any more about the latest excuses of our head coach the entire rest of the 2010 season, which is ALREADY OVER anyway.
The only good reads for me any longer are the ones by DISNEYdawgs.com, who by the way, have quit telling ANY ONE how GREAT Coach Richt has been since the 2005 SEC Championship Game, which marks half way through his tenure by the way.

There were 18 teams whom Coach Richt did NOT have more wins than over the 4 years prior to this one, and NOW we are NOT even in the Top 25 again.
After this season, we lose 15 seniors and 4-5 juniors. So 2011 is not going to be a great year, now is it ?
2005 we went to the SEC Championship Game last. This is 2010. Next year is 2011. We are in fact since that SEC Championship Game 10 wins 11 losses vs SEC East teams a LOSING RECORD in our division.
There is NO ONE HAPPY with all the arrests / suspensions.

col fot – You are correct players used to play with the bumps and bruises. And then when we started noticing that they were dying in their early to late 40″s we decided to take a look. And guess what?
Playing with bumps and bruises takes 18 years off of your life span.
So now we do not play with bumps and bruises. Especially to the head.
On a scale of 1 to 10 beating Ark is a 1. Smith’s life is a 10.
So if it is OK with you we will go with the 10.

I have a graduate degree from the University of Georgia, which remains a fine school, in spite of the disgrace Adams, Evans, and Richt have brought upon it. Georgia has become a poster child for bad sportsmanship and player arrests. Richt may be a fine person in his private life, but he is inconsistent in administering discipline. He has dismissed less talented players for minor offenses, to free up scholarships, while winking at misbehavior from his starters. Danelle Ellerbe was suspended for two games after multiple felonies and a $20,000 bond. Mettenburger left when Richt was unable to cover up the assault charge, which was the third assault against a female in the academic year, two of which were by Montez Robinson. Robinson was withdrawn from school because he was in jail and dismissed after the fact. This is pure hypocricy.

The UGA football program is in big trouble this week. It could get ugly as it did against UT at last year. We have really bad team chemistry this year. I was afraid of this after watching the GDay game last spring. We are an average at best team this year.

Some of you make me embarassed to be a UGA fan.
Good, you SHOULD be embarrassed.
I’ve never understood how anyone – even an alumnus – could support and take pride in UGA’s football team. When you look at their history for the past forty years, how can anyone ignore Jan Kemp and the “remedial studies” scam, the Jim Harrick fiasco, the DUIs in the athletic office, the DUIs and other arrests of players, the #1 party school tag (i.e., the most drunk students), the suspensions and outright dismissals, the Fulmer Cup, and on and on?
As disgraceful and humiliating as it is, I don’t see many alums and fans demanding an end to this sordid activity. It sets UGA apart as the kind of school most people abhor, and it’s become an embarrassment to the whole state of Georgia.
Will it never end? Apparently not while Mark Richt is at UGA. Richt is perhaps the biggest hypocrite in the United States. But even with all the cheating and lawlessness that he ignores, he still can’t win the SEC.
So you’re paying him to be BCS champions, but he can’t even win his SEC division. So why do you pay him millions of dollars a year?
Just asking.

UGA grads are ready for a big home crowd win. That is all. How UGA gets it, whether Ealey and King run for 42,000 miles or they get 10,000 and AM throws for 2,000 in the Arkansas game, matters not. Go out, look focused, hit hard, no late cheap shot penalties and play smartly and win.
We “gave” Richt his off year in 09 ………..this year with a smart QB, seasoned in the system and highly regarded and with 10 ……….that is ten or diaz returning starters on O, plus, the full complement of O back ups …………….we demand more than 6 points vs Arkansas. Same is true of the UGA D, but we know that is a work in progess with new coacches, etc. We did however, EXPECT a highly motivated D squad and hat showed up in SC was a disgrace. Period.
If Arkansas gets up on UGA and we look sloppy ………….those booooooooo birds will be singing. With all of the arrests and that AJ dumb jersey thing ……………we alumni have had enough. We demand a win and to continue that for the year with only none more breakdown.
The KY game last year, started this new attitude toward Richt and Co. It is just the way that it is. Produce or get out. That is life.

Smith needs to add weight. He’s too small to take or give a good pounding and it showed in the SC game. For hime to be a 5 star recruit, I am a little disappointed with his skills at CB. Greg Reid is putting on a show at FSU and I expected the same from Smith. I thought with the new defensive coaches, tackling would be better, but I know it takes time. When given the opportunity, the DBs and the S have got to dish out that hard hit to make a statement. We have to put the fear into the opposing offenses and standing around won’t get it done. UGA has to make a statement this week or the season is lost. With all the talent that will be attending the game, we have to make a great showing on both sides of the ball. I hope the adjustments have been made and if people don’t do their jobs, there is someone else to take their place. GATA!

Fairness and equality are different notions. I can treat my kids equally by having them all go to bed at 7pm. Would that be fair to my older kids? I can treat my kids fairly which means I might not necessarily treat them equally. Fairness, here, would hinge on my appreciation for, perhaps, my older kids’ maturity and, simply, less need for sleep.
The difficultly with fairness is it is inherently less transparent than equality. An outsider, that is, can much more easily identify and appreciate equality while it may not at all be obvious from outside if people are being treated fairly.
I trust the coaching staff to treat the kids fairly while knowing I don’t and/or can’t appreciate all that has happened or led to a decision.

Quit with the hard hit crap. We got wowed and were graced with some great ones in recent years – especially at safety.
Who doesn’t love a hard hit (besides the recipient)? I would MUCH prefer solid tackling – wrap up the legs, drive through the tackle, take the ball carrier down. Tackling seems to be a lost art form, at all levels.
Rennie was pretty darn good and way more often than not he made textbook form tackles. The “de-cleaters” are nice but sacrificing a sure tackle just to create a highlight for YouTube, Sportscenter, etc.. needs to stop.

I recall a coach at alabama named stallings who avg. 10 wins a year and was told that would not work if one of those wins was not vs auburn.. He told that A.D. thatif 10 wins in the SEC is not good enough hire someone else… It took 10 years 5 coaching changes and 4 million per year to replace him… CMR has a better record for his tenure than any coach weve had . Wow! First time here and I had no idea of the disapointment UGA fans were experiencing. UGA has basically owned Arkansas since they came into the SEC. I have always admired your program and accomplishments. Razorback fans learned a long time ago that you can’t win them all, but we still love our hogs…even if they lose one every now and then. I suppose there’s nothing wrong at UGA that a few wins won’t cure. Good luck getting back on the road to happiness…after this weekend!

Two things cannot be coached: speed and intelligence. We have the speed at many positions. Intelligence requires the knowledge of and the application of information to a logical and constructive conclusion. I do not know that UGA has the intelligence in it’s coaching staff to take the speed that it has in certain positions and intelligently put that speed to it’s best use. As much as you may dislike Saban and Meyer, they put their best players in the best positions, based on their skills, to win!

I love Georgia, no more excuses its just time for a change. We are losing the recruiting battle in our state.
