Grantham returns Spurrier’s barb

ATHENS — Todd Grantham took note of Saturday’s barb from Steve Spurrier –- and returned the volley Tuesday night with a reference to Spurrier’s lack of success in the NFL.

Spurrier, the South Carolina coach, poked at Grantham, the Georgia defensive coordinator and long-time NFL assistant, after Gamecocks running back Marcus Lattimore had 182 yards rushing against the Bulldogs by saying: “That little inside zone play, the NFL doesn’t run that play. That’s a new scheme, I guess.”

Grantham was asked after Georgia’s practice Tuesday if he saw Spurrier’s comment.

“Yeah, that was texted to me,” Grantham replied with a grin. “I appreciate his assistance, you know. But we actually knew what plays they were running. And they actually run that play in pro ball, and our offense actually runs that play, too. So we’re kind of on top of our game.

“It was kind of an out-of-left-field comment,” Grantham added. “I kind of took it more as a shot at the NFL. I really wasn’t sure if it was because of his lack of success there or what. So I kind of took it more like that than anything.”

Spurrier was 12-20 in two seasons as coach of the NFL’s Washington Redskins.

Grantham coached in the NFL for 11 seasons before being hired as Georgia’s defensive coordinator this year.

South Carolina beat Georgia 17-6 on Saturday.

Grantham’s not going to put up with spurrier’s BS—steve couldn’t make it in the nfl so he has no right to be questioning former NFL coaches.

[...] Tonight, Grantham returned Spurrier’s serve, according to Tim Tucker of the AJC. [...]

About time we had a coach on the staff that is not so “mature” and “above it all” to put Spurrier in his place. Now maybe some of that attitude will pour out onto the players when they are on the field.

“We actually knew what plays he was running.”…. And you still had that much trouble? As the legendary Lewis Grizzard once said, “Damn brother, I don’t believe I’d have told that!” I’m a Georgia grad and want to see you succeed. And I realize that you are new to the scene and Lattimore is a heck of a back to try and stop. But maybe you can at least work on all that arm tackling and standing around hoping somebody else makes the play. Pretty sure they don’t teach that in the NFL.

Grantham missed the point, again. If this was an argument about the NFL, not sure his journeyman assistant career qualifies him to say. Then again, he came to the college game, where Spurrier is a legend (just passed Vince Dooley on the all time conference wins list) and the time is still 17 to 6. Grantham needs to polish his barbs, if he wants to match words with Spurrier.

You didn’t hear Spurrier running his big mouth BEFORE the game about Grantham. If he was so confident, he sure didn’t seem like it in his comments. Don’t recall reading anything Spurrier said about Grantham’s lack of comptancy. That’s a joke–consider the source–a dude who loses tons of games at Duke, SC, and Wsashington, he just finds a way to lose everywhere he goes.

DawgBreath – do you hate it when superiors wonder if you’re worth the money? What diff does it make what he earns, as long as he earns it (unlike DCs past).

richtisdelusional – Do you even know what a whooping is? One win by 11 points does not make up for a long past of inferior play. Like Tech, SC gets it’s occasional win. I’ll give them props for that. But you (and they) can’t talk much until it becomes a regular thing.

Most of you people are so spoiled by great play at CMR’s first 7 years, a few off seasons has corrupted your brains (and blogs). Rest assured (or not), this program will get turned around – and it will start this year! For cripes sake… give THIS team a chance. Starting this week!

P.S. Who’s to say what Murray is doing or thinking while biting his nails on the sidelines? Maybe he’s rehearsing the next series in his head. You won’t believe what he will do the next 3 years… hide and watch!

Exactly Big Dawg. Lattimore was hit IN THE BACKFIELD on at least 70% of his runs, grantham had the correct Defense called, but the players didn’t tackle.

Part of that is credit to Lattimore, the guy is a hoss, but a lot of it goes on the shoulders of the Dawgs players.

I can tell you one thing, SC is not going to win more than 8 games (maybe 9) if they have to count on Lattimore running 40 times a game. The kid will break down with that kind of workload — and no matter how you slice it, Steven Garcia will SINGLE HANDEDLY lose at least 3 games for SC — he almost gave this game to UGA.

i’m confused. So, Grantham’s comeback was to say that, yes, we do know that play, we ran it in the NFL, we run it at UGA, and we practiced against it a lot.

So, he’s saying that SC just ran it better than UGA runs it? And that their defense couldn’t stop it, even though they knew what was coming and HOW to stop it? Methinks that’s more of an indictment than saying they were outsmarted or unprepared. Isn’t UGA football about being tough, physical, running the football and defending the run? I know that’s how UGA has beaten SC in previous years…

SC just beat UGA in all the things that UGA takes pride in doing, and y’all are excited because your coach knew what was coming, and still couldn’t stop it?

I said before the game that I felt very confident because UGA was starting a freshman Qb in his first SEC game and first road game. Also, they had a new DC, new defensive scheme and it was his first SEC game. I’m sure the Georgia defense will get better, although the lack of a dominant nose tackle will surely limit how much more effective they will be.

I do think that they will play better defense against Arkansas; that 3-4 matches up better against a passing team than a team such as USC that gashed them up the middle with the run. However, had the Georgia defense adjusted, I think you would have seen Spurrier use those big WRs against Georgia’s munchkin CBs.

folks you have to blame this effort on the kids. they didnt do well, because they are young and immature. i saw talent on saturday, and they are just kids. and will learn on the field this year, but the Dawgs have talent. I still think alot of UGA fans will support GSU if it doenst get better. if we get the scores, and not fumble the game away, it would be a different story. so, do you think they will work on the tackling this week. they dont get preseason games, and it def looked like one saturday. TG and his D, did stop SC the second half. it was the offense that let us down. movin on!

Glad I ran you down. I got your plans for your new double wide here in Eatonton at Horton Homes. 1) Is there a reason that you want the extra floor joists under the garden tub in the master bath? It is already rated for 400+ lbs. Is your wife really that large?
2) We can certainly accommodate you with the built in spitoon in the den.
3) The custom made deer skinner on the back will be and additional $500.00
4) We do NOT have camoflage siding. Sorry. Will drab olive or brown do?
5) We can put 48″ super swampers under it but I really don’t see any point in it.
6) I sent your request up to Mr. Dudley and he does not accept Marlboro Miles as payment.
7) No, we are not interested in the 68 Windstream as a trade in either.
8) Total price is $94,000
9) You can expect delivery in two weeks.

Thanks

Maybe the defensive backfield could use a little fire from the past. There is a guy that went to my high school that was the defensive captain, as a “roverback” on the ‘78 and ‘79 teams. Pat Collins is his name, and he was not afraid to lay the wood to anyone on the field. Anyone. His defensive coordinator at that time? Erk Russell. Just give Collins one day to work with those guys, and they would be bringing some major attitude. Any comments from people that saw Pat Collins play for UGA during that era are welcome. Thanks.

Grantham turned the Colts from 3-13 to 13-3 in his 1st year, and the browns went from 4-10 to 10-4 in Grantham’s 1st year. Spurrier stunk both year sin the NFL, at South Carolina, and at Duke, The only place Spurrier had success, was Florida, where pretty much any coach succeeds because of the talent level. Spurrier can’t even have a 2 year run at South Carolina like Holtz had, where Holtz went 8-4, 9-3, back to back. Let’s face it, Spurrier may win a game here or there where he’s the favorite, but he doesn’t EVER have a good season at South Carolina.

Ed

September 14th, 2010
9:54 pm

The fact that Spurrier, an offensive coach, would take a jab at an opponent who held him to 17 points says a lot about how far Spurrier’s standards have dropped in recent years. I mean, under than handing the ball of a lot to a bruising back who dragged defenders and broke tackles, it’s hard to see how Spurrier did anything schematically that had Grantham off-balance. Maybe Dooley could brag about his own genius after Herschel pummelled overmatched defenders, but I don’t recall it happening.

Spurrier’s a complete has-been. But still a jerk. He just can’t help himself.

Spurrier has eaten some humble pie since his salad days at UF (where he had more talent than he ever acknowledged) Failed at the NFL and SC. Shame on him for taking a cheap shot after a rare SC win. He really is a bitter old turd. SC will do their annual end of the season trip to the tank but at least he had a high point the second game of season. Tucker – Don’t be so harsh on Grantham. Frankly, UGA and USC are close enough in talent that all along we expected USC to be capable of some big plays against the Dawgs. In fact, that didn’t so much happen. Maybe Grantham can reinforce tackling more with the defense, which Lattimore physically abused, but Grantham did have guys in place schematically to contest Lattimore, so his scheme wasn’t garbage. Rather, Mike BoZo, that offensive coordinator guy, limited a talented freshman QB that played well, and is the biggest reason UGA scored 6 points. Bozo = worst performer. Ealey = worst mistake. Grantham = not perfect, but good enough that UGA could have won if the offense played average football.

I believe UGA will be better this Saturday and hope they smash Prick Petrino’s team, but let’s keep the heat on Richt and Bozo, not Grantham as far as coaching goes.

Georgia’s defense in sec better than sc’s in:
sacks, int’s, tackles for loss, pass defense and total defense.

Why is EVERYONE so focused ont he defense. Our offense was horrible. We didn’t control the ball or the clock. The defense only gave up 17 points despite the other team having the ball for well over 60% of the game.

I am not saying our defense was good. I think the only thing that really stopped USC was their play-calling in the second and third quarters. That being said, our offense is problem number one. You will not win a single SEC game scoring 6 points folks. Not a single one.

Oops!!! It was basically a butt kicking…We had poor tackling, not hitting, and they controlled the clock. Last year the game lasted long enough for us to hang on and win by a tipped knocked down pass on the last play,,,This year, we had no chance because of their running game.

Emphasis on lack of penalties has placed us on the timid side of playing. The offensive play calling makes no sense with its lack of consistantly confusing anyone. We still have to hit people on defense and keep them guessing on offense…We did neither on Saturday. If Ark gets ahead early Saturday, with their passing and our passing, it will be a long day in more than one way….the time of those games go on forever…. the games like last Saturday’s game are a lot shorter….We cannot shorten a game because we have no running game and we practice more on the passing game than the running game.

Hey Georgia dawgs you got an answer for this?

As for the Heisman, Georgia’s Herschel Walker won the trophy in 1982, one year after remedial English instructor Jan Kemp came forward and complained that the athletic department had pressured her to give passing grades to nine football players who failed her course, so that they could play in the 1982 Sugar Bowl against Pittsburgh (a game Georgia ultimately lost on a fourth-quarter touchdown pass by Dan Marino). Ms. Kemp was never forced to reveal those names, but the scandal tainted not only Mr. Walker’s career at Georgia, but his Heisman Trophy. He has never been asked to return his Heisman.

So, Grantham knew the plays, and in fact the Georgia O runs the plays in practice, yet Grantham’s D still couldn’t stop it? Is that what Todd is saying?

Lilburn Dawg

September 15th, 2010
8:01 am

I appreciate that Grantham felt like speaking up. But the circumstances need to be right and you need to be standing on firm ground when you do it. This was a case of speaking up at the wrong time.

Spurrier was taking delight that they ran the ball down our throats and we couldn’t stop them. He was just rubbing it in because of the beatings he has taken from UGA in the past.

But Grantham’s comments didn’t even make sense. The analogy is if you had been in a boxing match with someone and they pounded the ever-living crap out of you and left you lying in a bloody heap on the ground and you look up at them standing over you and say “But I knew what you were going to do and when you boxed the guy in the next town over, you didn’t do so well”. Well, the fact is Grantham got his a$$ handed to him on a platter. There’s just not a whole lot he can say. And he really shouldn’t try to say anything. He’s just not in a good situation to say anything at all except to say to Spurrier, “Yeh, you beat me fair and square”.

And I sure hate saying this because I love the Dawgs but sometimes you have to just accept reality and when we don’t do too good of a job we just have to admit it and do better next time.

GaGator

September 15th, 2010

“Yeah, that was texted to me,” Grantham replied with a grin. “I appreciate his assistance, you know. But we actually knew what plays they were running. And they actually run that play in pro ball, and our offense actually runs that play, too. So we’re kind of on top of our game.

Todd Grantham

Let me get this straight coach, you knew what plays SC was running, you are are”ON TOP OF OUR GAME——-yet a freshmen runs for 182 yards. I’m affraid all that shows me is a DC that’s way over rated. Note to Grantham, you can through out barbs when you win, when you lose STFU
and coach a liitle better. Looks like Grantham fits very well with the Georgia program, ya’ll like to talk about how good you are and then can’t back it up.

Start backing it up and then start talking———-I recall last week Georgia was running the table
beating Alabama and winning the National Championship. What a difference a week makes!!!!!!!!!

Spurrier and humility don’t belong in the same sentence.

Good for Grantham to give it back. Martinez would have sent one of his defensive backs to stand twenty yards away from Spurrier’s office and holler at the coach.

Lex, you and I usually agree on most things but you have to admit two things:

1. Spurrier is an ass for his comment directed at Grantham.

2. Grantham should keep his mouth shut if all he can say is “I appreciate his assistance, you know. But we actually knew what plays they were running. And they actually run that play in pro ball, and our offense actually runs that play, too. So we’re kind of on top of our game.

That made Grantham sound like he knew what was going to happen but didn’t know how to stop it.

I learned in my 57 years that if I got my ass handed to me to just keep my mouth shut and wait for payback down the road.

Comments from Spurrier are expected. Bottom line is he has been quiet 4 out of the last 6 years. I don’t mind Grantham firing back. It signals a breath of fresh air for me that we aren’t going to stand pat, status quo and let other teams whip us without doing something about it.

His kids were in the right spot but just couldn’t tackle the big running back. We only gave up 17 points. We should have scored more and won the game. If we consistently give up 17 points in big games, i like our chances.

Lex, personally I feel he should have waited until he had a dominant NT before he implemented the 3-4. Without a big guy like Mt Cody which all of the NFL teams have that run the 3-4, you will get the ball run down your throat. It isn’t schemes that win it’s players.Willie had a bend but dont break philosophy but didnt have play makers in the secondary to create turnovers. Tony Dungy did in Tampa Bay and Indy and it worked.

Lefty,

Coach Richt is actually following Dooley’s script. When Dooley was there, Coach McDuffie was the bad cop and Dooley was the good cop. Grantham is Richt’s bad cop like BVG was.

One year in the late 1970’s, Mack Guest went to Coach Dooley to complain about Coach McDuffie. Coach Dooley was jogging on the track and Mack ran along next to him and told Coach that McDuffie was treating everybody like crap and a lot of the guys were upset about it. Coach Dooley told him he would take care of it.

The next day, Coach McDuffie was waiting on the team after Dooley told him about it and they ran sprints.

Grantham is the bad cop for Richt. It is what this team needs. He doesn’t have the personnel yet to run the 3-4 the way it needs to be run. It will take a year or two.

It is what it is

September 15th, 2010
8:36 am

The comeback by Grantham puts in image in my mind.
There is an old man standing beside his house looking at a big oak tree. This tree is in the way, and needs to be taken down because it is in the way of his plans, and “By God he is the man for the job”.
After studying the tree, he devises his “game-plan”. He recognizes that this tree is strong, and is leaning toward his house. He figures that eleven of his boys, pulling against the ropes, should be able to move this tree any way they needed. “Heck we are Georgia boys, nuttin’ is tougher than us”.
The old man fires up his chain saw and goes at it. They are all working like dawgs, sweating like pigs. The wood chips are flying. The tree begins to move, and the old man and his sons are thinking “yeah we can handle this, it ain’t so tough; we are Georgia boys.” They are hootin’ and hollerin, and sweatin’ and pullin’.
The force and speed of the tree begins to drag the boys around like children. The tree begins to pick-up speed, and it is getting impossible to contain. Now the old man is a spectator. It seems that the old man underestimated this oak tree, and its ability to whip his boys, and make them cry. These are Georgia boys.
He watches as this tree, unimpeded by his boys’ efforts, tears through the roof of his house, destroying it. He and his boys, battered and bruised from the fight, look in amazement at the damage that was done. They can’t believe what just happened; everyone had told them that this was an easy task. It is just an oak tree, and “you are Georgia boys”.
Just then his old lady comes to him and asks “what the H@#$ just happened?” The old man gives his old lady a wry smile and a wink. He taps his temple with his fore-finger and says: “I was right on with my “read” of the tree. I knew by the lean, the lay of the land, and the direction of the wind, just exactly which way that tree was going to fall. Nuttin’ outsmarts a Georgia boy”.
A few months later, the old lady sends the old man packing. He should have kept his mouth shut.

There was just no two ways about it in the South Carolina game…………..we got beat. It was our own fault. Period. We didn’t prepare hard enough, we didn’t play well enough, we didn’t have the better players, our coaches didn’t have the better game plan, etc……….whatever the reason was………it was our own fault. This game was not lost b/c of CTG’s scheme. Maybe a couple of times they were out of position, and couple of times the secondary didn’t make plays on the ball. It was lost b/c of a pathetic excuse for tackling (even for arm tackling it was bad) and a fumble inside the five. Points crapped away. But getting back to the tackling thing – its a fundamental that i thought was being addressed this offseason – boils down to no tackles, long, extended drives (and offensive hickups) = tired defense. Simply, don’t take crap from Spurrier no matter what – his team just seemed to want it more.

I recall we are not playing South Carolina till 2011 so lets focus on this weeks game and quit worrying about a game that we have already put behind us. The only thing CMR and CTG need to do is adjust those players attitudes on tackling and CMR needs to make this Bobo’s “produce or step down” game and take over the play calling if Bobo continues with this lets play not to lose instead of playing to win mentality. It doesn’t matter what the defense does if the offense can not score more than 6 points a game.

Who is the reining kind of college football, the winiest coach in the best conference in the universe. Georgia should stop wetting itself every time Spurrier takes a shot at it and listen to what he is saying. It might be the only worthy free advise and insight ,outsiders, which fans are, receive on why their team is a under achiever. Georgia either owns the local press or the press doesn’t understand football, because every year you see this hurricane forming in Athens and every year it is downgraded to a tropical storm or some times for Tech fans like me, pure sunshine. If Georgia ever woke up and realized they are buying 100 gallons of gas and getting about a mile’s worth of travel, Spurrier might start making sense to them. Here’s hoping they stay mad at the “Ole Ball Coach” and make him their problem instead of the real one.

CSS has always been a jerk and has no class when he wins. As a UGA fan, CMR has never won a game and taken shots at the teams the Dawgs have beat. It is about time another coach took offense to CSS’s classless comments. I guess it has been so long since he won anything of substance at UF that he took at shot. His best team, experienced QB, Defense, at home playing UGA with Freshman QB and first real game with a new defense. Not a real upset that SC won the game. For all the bravado also remember UGA about 5 yards away from 14-12 or 14-14 before a fumble in the second half. One thing I think we need to remember, the D was in position to make plays..they didn’t that is on the players. Last year many many times they weren’t anywhere near the ball carrier. They have been coached to know where to be and when to be there…and I’m sure they have been shown how to tackle…now the only step for the coaches is to bench those that can’t/won’t execute.

Fact of the matter is, Spurrier has had a more successful career than Grantham. If your defense gets dominated by Spurrier’s freshman, you need to take the jabs and live with it and use it for motivation.

So… Grantham’s defense knew the zone-read was coming (about 30 times), but still couldn’t stop it? Did he also realize that having the DEs in a 3-4 set so wide makes the defense vulnerable to runs up the middle, like a zone-read?

Maybe Grantham should work on defense instead of talking smack — after his team gets abused on the field.

You gotta love a coach that speaks his mind and is willing to take responsibility for this defense. So far, so good. You have to give Grantham credit, he is in his first year as DC, teaching a whole new alignment/system, working with players that were recruited for a 4-3, and still able to make the D respectable to good. We need to stop making excuses and settling for mediocrity.

It’s kind of sad to see all the Dawg fans getting so excited this year (just like the year before, the year before that, etc.). How long is it going to take for UGA fans to realize that UGA is simply no longer relevant in the SEC? In the national picture, UGA isn’t even a blip on the radar, and hasn’t been since the preseason #1 ranking two years ago.

Sit back and be grateful for the seven or eight wins you’ll get every year. Coaching genius Mark Richt may take you to 8-4 or even 9-3 occasionally, but Florida will still win the SEC, meaning no BCS bowls and no top 10 final ranking. Most years, UGA will be very lucky to finish in the top 25, and only after a big bowl win over a nobody opponent.

It’s a different world now, and Dawg fans need to adjust their expectations downward to reflect reality.

Unfortunately nothing is going to change until UGA changes its mediocre coaching. That’s where the difference is, and that’s why everyone outside Dawgtard Nation just laughs at Dawg fans getting so excited year after year about what a great recruiting class UGA gets. It doesn’t matter how many blue chip high school players go to UGA, they simply don’t get the coaching they would get at Florida or Alabama, to name two schools whose programs are far ahead of UGA. And that’s not going to change as long as Mark Richt is in Athens.

Get your heads out of the sand and face reality. And mediocrity and irrelevance.

He did not get schooled by Spurrier you idiots. The great offensive genius only scored 17 against CTG’s D. We were within 8 points (14-6) until the last 1:30 of the game. Yes Lattimore ran down our throats because some of our guys still are learning the art of tackling. But by in large CTG kept them out of the endzone. We lost the game because of Boo Boo and the offense. If you would have told me prior to the game that they would only put up 17 AT HOME I would say that would be a W for my Dawgs. But unfortunately our offense did not show up. Our defense kept us in the game. If Willie was still our DC they would have put up 30 plus. I love our new DC and given time he will get our D back to where we want it. And once again I am glad he shot back at Spurrier. Spurrier has been taking verbal jabs at UGA for twenty years and Coach Grantham is the first one to fire back. When Spurrier was with Florida he had every right to pound his chest and note their superiority but until he has a winning record against us at SC he should shut HIS mouth.

You either did not watch the game or you do not know football. Coach had the players in the right position to make the play they just didn’t to the tune of 28 BROKEN tackles and 121 yards rushing AFTER contact. Granted he needs to continue the education of our boys in the art of tackling that Willie had not preached or instituted the last few years (and I think he will). Grantham’s come back about Spurrier didn’t do anything. Spurrier stayed in the NFL 2 year, had lousy success and left. He realized he was more inclined to be successful in college ball. What Grantham did was rehash old forgotten stuff that didn’t mean a thing. that’s old news, it’s already happened, who cares.
What I care about is what is happening right now and unlike CMR and Bobo, Spurrier won the game by running 1 play , over and over because it worked.. Stop that 1 play and UGA wins because Garcia wasn’t getting the job done.CMR and especially Bobo will try something and be sucessful with it but their philosophy is that we better change to something else before they start stopping us , instead of saying I am going to run this play all day until the other team shows they can stop it. A great example was Ealey was successful running around the end but did Bobo let him do it all day or until SC stopped it. Hell no , he started running up the middle that didn’t work at all.
When asked why he ran a Freshman 37 times, Spurrier said ” IT WORKED, WE DID WHAT IT TOOK TO WIN THE GAME”.

76-DAWG

September 15th, 2010
1:33 pm

Who cares what success UGA has had with Spurrier in the past. What I care about in today. That’s all that matters. The reason Spurrier made that comment was because he probably though he had gone to coaches heaven . Most of the time it takes a half or 3 quarters of the game for a coach to finally make all the changes needed to win . Spurrier couldn’t believe that he didn’t have to change anything the entire game because 1 play worked so good.Run the ball up the middle as often as possible. Spurrier couldn’t believe it was going to be that easy.

SC offense was pedestrian. Don’t think we’ll see Garcia in the next draft. Lattimore saved their butts. Looks like a young Eric Dickerson when he’s running. If we don’t solidify our interior, we are in for a long season against a lot of teams.

remember…tackle by wrapping up the ball carrier

remember…don’t play scared

remember…don’t stand around with your mouth agape watching the ball carrier

Grantham should have said NO comment. If he had any class at all, but hey, UGA has a thing about hireing clueless, classless coaches. I guess it coincides with the clueless classeless players that are recruited.

I mean, Coach Grantham can’t hold a candle to Spurriers success in coaching, what was he thinking! Coach Richt should lay the law down to his coaches, but hey, that would require leadership abilities, something the head coach has lost……

Your team did nothing on offense besides Lattimore. Your offense wouldn’t have scored if Lattimore hadn’t played. Your one strength played perfectly against our biggest weakness at the moment. Your coaches leadership abilities has gotten you to .500 or a little better while he’s been there and made your quarterback who he constantly berates (scolds) into a head case. That’s ok sport, Richt has an awful season and we still win 8. That would be the high water mark for your program.

If Grantham knew about it and still couldn’t stop it, that kinda makes him look even more stupid than it did to begin with.

Todd should shut his mouth and work on his players…. Grantham was never known as the sharpest tack in the box and he is 0-2 in the SEC….. Willie Martinez NEVER started out that bad…

Just think about it…. we have traded down…

Agreed

September 19th, 2010
11:29 am

Think about it…. I agree with you…. we don’t need to stoop to Spurrier’s level.

Grantham needs to spend more time on coaching and lay off the freaking donuts…. man – has blown up like a balloon since coming to Athens.

Grantham needs to see that Lattimore ran all over our Dawgs defense, but this week the lowly Furman defense held Lattimore to under a hundred.

Pretty sad Todd

Summary:

Trading Barbs = Bad
Donuts making you fat = Bad

Spending more time coaching = Good
