(Please click here for the game story on Georgia’s loss to South Carolina.)
COLUMBIA – The suspended A.J. Green shared his feelings about Saturday’s loss via Twitter.
“I’m sick,” he tweeted.
“But we will bounce back,” he added. “[W]hen I get back someone will have a price to pay. [T]rust me!!!!!”
In Green’s absence, seven Georgia players caught passes against South Carolina, led by Kris Durham’s three for 76 yards, including a long of 55.
“You can’t replace A.J.,” Durham said. “I tried to step up. We all tried to step up our game. But you can’t replace that. He’s one of the best players in college football.”
++++++++++
South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier appreciated some postgame words from Mark Richt.
“I shook hands with the opposing coach, and he said, ‘Coach, you have a heck of a team,’” Spurrier said. “I don’t think anyone has ever told us that before [at South Carolina].”
In his postgame news conference, Spurrier took just a little dig at Georgia’s new defensive coordinator, Todd Grantham, a long-time NFL assistant.
“When you have a back like Marcus [Lattimore] and the linemen opened cracks, I’m sure that Georgia defensive coordinator [became frustrated],” Spurrier said. “That little inside zone play, the NFL doesn’t run that play. That’s a new scheme, I guess.
“I’m sure they knew we’d run it, but they certainly didn’t stop it much.”
Lattimore’s 37 carries were the most against Georgia since Auburn’s Kenny Irons had the same number for 179 yards in 2005.
++++++++++
Tailback Caleb King, who got only one carry in the second half of the season opener because of a twisted ankle, got none Saturday.
“He was hobbling most of the week in practice,” Richt said.
Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo conceded that King’s absence “hurt us a little bit” but said he thought Washaun Ealey “was fresh and ran hard” throughout.
Ealey, making his season debut after being suspended from the opener, had 75 yards on 19 carries. But he fumbled near the goal line in the third quarter as Georgia seemed poised to score a touchdown. South Carolina’s Stephon Gilmore recovered the fumble at the Gamecocks’ 1-yard line and returned it 13 yards to the 14.
“I saw the end zone and was focused on trying to get in there,” Ealey said. “I wasn’t focused on the ball, and that’s what cost us.”
++++++++++
Outside linebacker Justin Houston had three sacks, the most by a UGA player since Marcus Howard’s three against Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl following the 2007 season.
Houston also had a career-high 10 tackles and a forced fumble.
But the fine individual numbers were ruined by the score, he said. “We lost, so I feel like I lost.”

Frustrating…..but CMR has a long history of righting the ship. Still say we beat ARK by 17. Look for a much more, poised and together group on both sides of the ball next week.

The defense did their jobs today, especially when you consider sacks and take aways. We should be able to score 18 points or more. That was the problem today, too many stalled drives and a few that never even got started. While I didn’t expect Bobo to expose the entire playbook to film, I thought he would’ve allowed Murray more freedom. Murray looked as though he was told not to run around. There were a few times where Murray could’ve tucked the ball and scored. The TE and FB spots were silent in the red zone. I think the young guys learned a tough lesson today. Nothing is over.

I hope it bothered the hell out of AJ Green. He would have been the difference we needed to win this game , just like last year. For someone who want even be a Dawg next year I still can’t get over how selfish and stupid Green was. . I played organized sports until I was 21 and always had the teams interest ahead of my own. I still say that CMR should dismiss Green from the team. He doesn’t deserve to graduate from UGA. When I graduated from Georgia in 76 a felt honored to have been a part of it. I would rather lose every game than trade my integrity for wins.

This was frustrating to watch. Next week against ARK could be ugly and GA looking at 1-2. Having said that, I watched the game from Afghanistan and had a real life reminder of 9/11. In the end, it is just a game and I am more than thankful to have an opportunity to watch it from so far away. Go Dawgs!

Excuses, excuses, excuses and more excuses. It is very apparent that Bobo will continue to make excuses for his lousy coaching and play calling. From the looks of that game, it’s going to be a long season. The offensive line opened no holes for the RB’s and to be as experienced as they are, it’s a joke. Searles has got to be the worst offensive line coach in the SEC and Bobo is the worst definition of an Offensive Coordinator. I see why we can’t sign any of the Five Star RBs and WRs. They all no that we have a joke for offensive coaches. At the playcalling and the blocking performance against SC, we will lose at least 4 or 5 games again unless somebody else takes over the offense and lights some fire under somebody’s butt. You cannot hold back a QB as talented as Murray. He earned the starting position, he learned the playbook, so let him play, but from the previous years the playbook needs a lot of work. Hate to say it but the defense looked awful yesterday. Too much arm tackling and too much standing around. We need to recruit bigger and more physical CBs and LBs. The whole mentality of the team needs to be more physical. I seen High School teams play more physical than UGA. Been a dawg fan for over thirty years and it is not looking good with the coaching we have right now. Top rated players are not knocking down the door to come here and i see why. Hate to say what a lot of people won’t agree with but enough is enough, i want a winner on the field and CMR is not getting it done. Time for a coaching change or revamp the offense now and not at the end of the season. One way or the other, keeping the offensive staff that we have now will not win us games.

It was a bonehead mistake by AJ and I too feel that he could of made the difference in the game. I agree he put himself ahead of the team and a chance to have had a special season this year not only for himself but more importantly the Dawgs. When I played ball the team was everything and I put it before myself as well. Unfortunately, the mentality is I won’t get caught. Just like the stupid $35 helment theft, underage drinking, leaving the scene of an accident, etc. Last year lack of discipline was both on and off the field. Silly penalties and arrest. Still showing the same character flaws this year of not being able to control one self off the field that translates just the same as the penalties when you are not dressed out due to violations of NCAA or team rules.

Guys, stop making excuses. The SC fumble killed their drive just like it did ours…. there is no guarantee of a TD, no matter where you are on the field. The spot didn’t lose the game for us. AJ not playing didn’t lose the game for us, they had some studs out too. Yes we have talent, but so do most other teams we are going to play. We have to face it that we are not as good as we think we are and stop making freaking excuses.

They will defend Mr.Richt until he gets himself fired. Mr.Richt has prove time and time again that he is too soft and a VERY poor decision maker so, don’t blame the players for playing the way they do. Here’s a few examples what I mean:
1) Remember in 2002 when Mr.Richt said that his players will get their feelings hurt if the fans boo them? Here’s the link that I keep on file. http://jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/090602/col_10375439.html
The man wouldn’t last a day in NY. The players are soft because Mr.Richt is soft.
2) I will never forget this one. In 2004 I didn’t understand why the defense played so much different from the previous year. Well, It was until we played WV in the SB when I realized that Brian Van Gorder had left the team. After WV smoke the dawgs defense in the SB I said leave Willie Martinez in the stadium. Just don’t let him come back with the team but Mr.Richt kept the man 5 more seasons. Mr.Richt has to be the worse decision maker in the SEC for keeping him.
3) He redshirted his best runningback(Moreno). Another bad decision by Mr.Richt.
4) Most was complaining about the playcalling. Instead of hiring a experience OC Mr.Richt turn it over to inexperience Mike Bobo. Another bad decision by Mr.Richt.
5) The next 1 takes the cake for me. When we are running the football successfully then all of a sudden Mr.Richt abandon the run. You Got To Be Kidding Me!
I believe every play called in a game makes a difference. Well, Aaron Murray was moving the ball down field effectively then all of a sudden Mr.Richt went to a wildcat formation. OMG! That’s all I could say. Remember when our defense had been on the field forever? After we finally got the ball back Mr.Richt call a 30 yard pass play. OMG! After the defense had been on the field forever you would think he would want to run the ball on 1st and 2nd down just to give the defense enough time to catch their breath. Not Mr.Richt! I can go on and on about Mr.Richt bad dicisions. When the hc make bad decisions like Mr.Richt the players will feel that they are entitle to make bad decisions as well.
IT’S TIME FOR CHANGE FOLKS.

UGA D could not tackle my 8 year old daughter in the open field. BTW- I would assume Lattimore had 125 of his 170+ after the first hit or broken tackle. If it was Bama’s D he would have ended up with around 50. If you can not tackle – you can not win in football – AT ANY LEVEL.

Hunker Down, with the sorry run blocking that our line did and the lack of a good OL coach, we won’t get Shell or anybody else that’s top rated. Religion is great but, sorry performance on the football field won’t sign any great recruits. Right now we suck and missing one player doesn’t make the team. If so, when he goes pro what are we going to do then. Other programs have new QBs and open up the playbook to win games. We need a change and we need it now. It’s only one game but, it says a lot about the coaching and physical nature of this team. They play like a bunch of girls. If people don’t agree, look at the game and the score.

I’d have to say that the Defense needs to be re-trained on the fundamentals of tackling you know, wrapping your arms around the ball carrier. Really sloppy tackling out there. My question to Todd would be why didnt you make the adjustment at half time to stopping the run and force SC to pass?
They ate the clock up and wore your Defense out.
Though i think the 3-4 Defense is better at putting pressure on the QB, it is subjected to giving up alot of yards with the run. Maybe as much as 4 yrds a play. Seemed like saturday that players were confused on where they were suppose to be on defense. Georgia needs to utilize Branden Smith alittle more on offense and defense as well. He’s a play maker and could help the offense while A.J. is serving his sentence. I see that Florida, may have a rebuilding year as well as Georgia and im happy with how Aaron played on saturday against a very good defense. I just hope that when we play Ga. Tech with their running game, they wont end up with 400 yds in their running game as SC did to us. Houston was clearly the best Defensive player saturday and the CB’s and Safety hit like little girls, was almost as if they were scared to hit that lattimore guy. Would like to see more Ronnie Lotts out there. Linebackers i’d give a B- but they did play hard. Stop the Run and you’ll have fun…Play the Pass and you wont end up Last. Go Dawgs!

Coach Richt i know you have loyalty toward some of your coaches but i agree with alot of people that Mike Bobo is very green as an Offensive Coordinator its as if he has read all the books and learned the “theory” of plays. But it goes beyond just theory, its having instinct and making asdjustments during the week and then at the game. It looks like Bobo has a play book from A-Z and he checks off each box during a game. It’s like his head is not in the game but he’s gonna run that play no matter what the situation is. I mean bone head plays that dont make sense. Can Georgia not find a true Offensive Coordinator out there somewhere? What about Philip Fulmer X-Tennessee coach? It will take Bobo 15 years to really be good at call playing and Georgia fans are growing tired of inexperience play calling. Coach Richt needs to put a tighter leash on his players for their off the field antics and quit being like Florida State “Criminoles” and get alittle tougher. This is serious business when we see that players run from a scene of an accident, DUI, Assault, selling jerseys. If you would start taking a stand with these players and put a “Zero Tolerance” on breaking the rules you might slow down these acts and you’d gain more respect from your players. Right now it seems like your more their friend than coach and seems like these players are just like florida state and you brought that with you when you came to Georgia.

Going into the game there were alot of questions that needed to be answered, how will the defense play? how will Murry play against an SEC team at their stadium?how will the line block against SC’s defense? and how will our running game play? After the game all of the questions were answered and we have to just build on that. Our defensive scheme was there but we lacked the tackling fundamentals(same old story) Murry I thought did ok and showed alot of poise but he is still a redshirt freshman, the line so far can not make any holes running up the middle but gave Murry alot of time in the pocket . The running game is probably the weakest part of our game right now and that has alot to do with our blocking. Now that those main questions were answered for me I’m sure it also answered some questions for the coaches. Lets see what they do to fix it.

Richt needs to go, period. Why is it that we NEVER can have a consistant running game. Good programs have a game plan that works and they run it against every team they play. They do not decide how they will play depending on who they play. CMR does this every game. I have heard for mthe last two years that we should have a solid Oline. Why can’t we ever run the football and control the game. Our defense is not improved from last year. Tackling was horrible. Murray did fine. The play calling was inconsistant like it has been ever since CMR has been in Athens. I realize SC is a strong team. But uga should be also. That was a game we should have won. Hopefully, McGarity took notice. uga will never win the sec again as long as Richt is there. He is a second tier coach.

One more thing on the running game. Even with Moreno we have never had a season under CMR where we successfully ran the football and controlled the game throughout the season. Our running games under CMR has always been in spirts and very inconsistant. Reason, CMR is a passing ACC guy that does not fully appreciate or no how to have a consistant running game. The way he mixes up pass/run on the plays confuses the players. And puts more pressure on the players. Then he blames them like saying “no one steps up” If the oline creates a hole any one can pick up postitive yards running the ball. SC did. UGA did not. Same story.

Mike Bobo knows himself that he is at best a sub-par Offensive Coordinator, im not really sure how he got the job maybe he’s related to Coach Richt, dating his neice, or has something on somebody and these are the politics of football. I like Coach Richt for what he has done for Georgia, a good christian man, family man and hes been good for Georgia. But i also liked Jim Donnan and thought he deserved more time but he was booted out. Coach Richt does whats best for his family but why cant he do whats best for Georgia? Theres no shame in getting a Great Offensive Coordinator for Georgia, when one of your players under performs you bench him and put another player in that plays alittle better and this is good for the team. Why can you not listen to the cries of the Georgia Nation telling you that Mike Bobo stinks and make this change? Their so much talent that isnt being utilized the right way its as if Bobo is cutting their legs and arms off. Mike Bobo if you had any love for Georgia and its program and it wasnt about the “money” you’d voluntarily step down and allow Georgia to grow again and be a more productive offense. Yeah we’ll beat the avg teams but we will never get to a national championship with the mindset of a person like Mike Bobo…..so man up Bobo, step down!

I’m in agreement with so many of the comments made here. We’ve all been patient with CMR, but folks it’s time we admitted the fact that we have a mediocre coach and football program. Bobo might be a good guy, but he is not an OC. We looked absolutely pathetic against USC, and I am as embarrassed as I’ve ever been for a UGA football team.
I’ve always thought we had great talent in our program, but it did not look that way yesterday. Our offensive line was crushed all day by USC’s D. With the money this program makes, we have the ability to hire the very best college football has to offer. It’s time we made that decision and send CMR and Bobo on to their next jobs.
I won’t be watching too many UGA games for the rest of the year; I just can’t stand what we’ve become. Let’s make a change in head coaches and get the right talent and leadership for our program to make us a competitor in the SEC!
BTW: As to AJ’s tweet. Son, you let this team down big time. As a fan, I don’t want to hear what your plans are. Time to shut your mouth, get back on the field and let your playmaking do your talking.

I am really tired of this begging CMR to do his job. Last year we had to beg/threaten to get a new defensive coordinator, this year we will beg, plead, threaten, etc to get rid of Bobo. So CMR only makes a change when he feels his job is on the line. Is that what we need in a head coach. Some one that can’t recognize the failures of his program. I don’t think so. He can continue to make changes only when he feels his job is threatened, but uga’s playing and success will not change until CMR is replaced.

Let’s be honest we know you can’t win every game, however you can put in some effort and play like you want to win. That was the most uninspired play from a Mark Richt team I have ever seen. Very embarassing. AJ Green we all know was very selfish, etc… but he does not play defense. I know alot of people who donate alot of money to this school are not going to put up with this lack of effort much longer. As far as “Morons” go Dan, when you pay a coach millions of dollars a year, have 4 and 5 star players on your team and tickets cost an arm and leg, and you drive for hours getting there, sitting in the cold, the hot , the rain…..you can say whatever it is you wanna say. We are passionate Georgia Fans and yeah we can put their feet to the fire when they arent doing well. If youre too tender hearted and cant take these comments then leave. These ppl have the right to post things about georgia because they love the dawgs not like you. We dont just sit back and pray things will get better, we make things get better and open ppl’s eyes hoping that somehow someway Georgia can get back to where it once was. Im 53 years old and have seen alot of georgia ball and we have gone through lots of coaches and for what the tickets cost, parking, student tuition costs, what kinda money our athletic program brings in, it would seem to me that they could take some of that money and pay more for a better suited OC and quit fudging on profit so much.

Spurrier is a trip!
I dislike the fact that his team just beat the bulldogs but cant help but chuckle with the shot he took at Grantham, When you have a back like Marcus [Lattimore] and the linemen opened cracks, I’m sure that Georgia defensive coordinator [became frustrated],” Spurrier said. “That little inside zone play, the NFL doesn’t run that play. That’s a new scheme, I guess
Welcome to the SEC Coach TG.
It did seem like coach TG defense was doing a decent job attacking against the pass but played poorly against the run why did he not stack enough players on the line to stop the run? Is that bad scheming and poor half time adjustments, everyone knew the freshman was going to get the ball.was it bad tackling on the players if so doesnt that fall on the coaches shoulders to teach or improve those fundamentals and eliminate mental mistakes. You cant blame Willie Martinez and his crew this year… Oklahoma 47 FSU 17, University of Cincinatti 40 ISU 7 just saying.

My impression. Defense looked like they interpreted the idea of not making dumb personal foul penalties as once a person gets to the runner stay off. Many times I saw our guy watching because someone else had already got to the runner. Then once the runner broke the first hit, he was gone for more yards. I also saw them throwing their bodies trying to knock the runner down and not even trying to use their arms to hold on.
Offense -I was watching the line. This is their third year together since they had to start as freshmen. I thought they did fine with the pass blocking but did nothing when we ran. Very disappointed in the running game. When we needed one to two yards the line got beat and pushed back. I saw no holes open up for the runner. But how often do we run on 3 and 1. We still prefer a 15 yard or more pass when we need the 1 especially when we are deep in our own territory. We have a way to go and Murray will not be the issue. I also think AJ Green out is giving the others a 7 point spot. I hope all the player take notice how thier actions hurt the team.

Todd Grantham Spurrier had your number as far as how he was gonna beat your defense on saturday. Just run it up the middle, and dont you think that other teams will see this on film? They exposed your weakness and cashed in big time, i just would have thought you’d change up something and maybe you did and that seemed to help but they still ran on us and ate up the clock. If you cant stop the run then your doomed and theres no need for a team to pass the ball. Just like Vince Dooley did when he coached and ran the ball alot. I think that lattimore got most of his yards up the middle, how is it that you dont know this and the broadcasters do and why didnt you jam the holes more after the 1st quarter? I think you put pressure on the QB but hey when you run the ball with success who cares about pressure. SC ran the ball in the middle more than anything and off the left tackle, over pursuing, lack of tackling, not knowing where you should be doesnt help either.
I like you better than Martinez and im willing to give you some time to prove that your no fluke. As far as the offense goes our line should have dominated SC line and opened up bigger holes cause most of them are Juniors/Seniors so they have no excuse. AJ green would not have made much difference cause i think they would have double teamed him but Murray played well despite the bad play calling of Mike Bobo. Right now no one has stepped up on offense and is a playmaker. Georgia has got to get more turnovers and less penalties. SC had 6 to 7 offensive lineman to our 3 or 4 down lineman to me that makes SC running game more productive. Those defensive lineman got tired either from being out of shape or being doubled team so you need to blitz more or put more lineman up on the line. No college team, Coaches, Pollsters have no respect for Georgia. Can you not make goals such as “were not gonna allow a touchdown this game” or “get a turnover” or “stop the run” you know where im driving at. Get them more motivated as a Defensive or offensive unit and set goals. Our offense cannot produce alot of points against a superior defense and it will be up to the Defense to get turnovers and shorten the field. If you guys get together and say enough is enough and play as a team you’ll have better success. Theres still time…..Florida this year seems mediocre maybe its their down year, Ga. Tech seems avg as well and if you guys put the effort in it might pay off. Your schedule is light this year and you might have a chance but you cant lose anymore games like the one you just played. Get a team conference together, get back to the fundamentals, set goals, make each player accountable, and atleast try to compete. We as Georgia fans are apt to being more compassionate if you try and play hard but we are not gonna be as understanding if you try to arm tackle or come out playing flat like it was a scrimmage.

We can gripe about play-calling, decision making, schemes etc, until the cows come home. But here is the problem folks, and it’s not going away. It’s called lack of physical strength!!! Our OL could not move their defense off the ball. Their running backs ran all over our would be tacklers. Our defensive backs didn’t even show up for this game. And last but not least, the play from our safeties yesterday made me want to throw up. I too watched the Bama game last night, as well as the Ohio St game. Those defenses know exactly how to tackle somebody. No arm tackling ,no shoulder bumping, I could go on, but I think I’ve made the point!

I have to say that I have been a CMR fan during his tenure and I really look up to him as a man and role model. But it is obvious to me now that he simply does not have the desire to do what it takes to put the best team he possibly can out there on the football field.
This not only includes what all Dawg fans saw yesterday on the field, but also what we have seen off the field with player conduct this year. There just is not enough accountability and discipline in the program. At some point this spring, he should have pulled the entire team together and told them as a team that the next arrest equals immediate dismissal for the offender and two a days for the entire team. There is simply no excuse for the lack of team discipline. It showed on the field in Columbia yesterday.
Again, I think the world of CMR and who he is as a man and what he stands for as a person. I just no longer respect his leadership as the head coach of my beloved Dawgs.
This was tough to say, but I finally had to get it off my chest. I sure hope somehow that CMR gets it and turns this around. True Dawg fans deserve better than what we have seen ALL YEAR LONG…….
And AJ, please keep your tweets to yourself. You let us all (school, coaches, team and fans) down, BIG TIME…….

Wow! We lost to a team that will be a serious contender for the East this year. We are playing on their home feild in the second game of the year, without our #1 offensive threat, a redshirt freshman quarterback, and a defense playing its second game in a new sytem. We are trying to stop a kid who will be a serious hiesman contender if he stays straight and healthy. We lose 17-6. I’m dissapointed. We were beaten by a better team yesterday. Paul is right! AJ green and Washaun Ealey are young but doesnt mean their stupid. This seems to be the case every year…..Law breakers, and criminals are the norm just like Florida State does. Didnt Richt come from Florida State? Why did he bring this mindset with him, why not have the mindset of Paul “Bear” Bryant, Woody Hayes, someone who is a disciplineary who has strict rules and a no tolerance agenda? When you have players who get into trouble and gets alot of penalties on games that tells me theres no discipline on the team, no respect to the coaches, players and mostly the fans. If Mark Richt had harsher rules on team violations these players woiuld know better than doing some of these things in the 1st place cause the penalty would be severe. Richt was suppose to be a man of principles but these same principles dont apply to his team it seems. If i was a prominent player coming out of highschool and was coming to Georgia and knew the coach was very strict on his players, my mentality about doing things after i come to Georgia would reflect on the type coach im playing for is. It may hurt the program at 1st and the fans but in the long run make Georgia players a more disciplined team. Just my view on the foundation of building a good program as a team.

Grantham doesn’t have HIS recruits out there yet, so he gets a pass. The real frustration is in the embarrassing way Richt and Bobo obviously tried to shield Murray for the entire first half and not allow him to play his game of football. Please explain to me where is the sense in recruiting a kid to come play for you because you like his style of football, only to try and turn him into a predictable robot for an entire half of a very important game?

even though we were without the best player in the nation, have a freshman QB making only his second career start and first on the road, and an entirely brand new defense, what cost us the game was the Ealey fumble. You could see it on the SC fan’s faces. Everyone in that building knew, including Spurrier, had UGA gotten a TD that drive they would have won.
And the burning of the timeouts like a recreation coach didn’t help matters either.

You can tell when a team comes to the line of scrimmage if they are confident and prepared. Ga. under Richt cannot cross the river either because he won’t allow his swimmers to swim or is afraid they might get wet. Bobo tries to cross in unlikely spots and mundane ways. Ga. sinks and drowns. Richt has not been able to find that mentality that bridges yearn and burn with simple smartness. If you have kids with skillsets wouldn’t it be to your advantage to allow some of the very athleticism you chased them for come into play? He doesn’t and never has been able to establish the fundamentals without choking down his attempts. Ga. has always played like we are lacking the confidence of knowing we can get the job done under Richt. If he would take those pretty boy sunglasses off and quit worrying about his hair he might find out whats working and whats not. In the meantime we flounder around splashing in knee deep water as usual.

He looked amazing last weekend and will prove to be one of UGA’s best in the future. This is the best team we have had in decades and yet we still needed a fumble recovery to seal the deal. The major problem with our team is that they are not scared to loose. Do any of you think that if the players had the fear of the coach in them ,like the players at Alabama must have of Saban, we would have lost to USC? No, I think we would have won because they would have been scaed to come off the field and face the consequences. I was sick and tired of seeing the same old thing with the guys yesterday. Arm tackling does not get it done and when a fan can see a play coming a mile away why can’t the coaches? I saw players acting like they were out ther for themselves. Vance Cuff taunting the fans and players on the sidelines after he defends a pass. One…one…one …ONE play. Why not defend a whole bunch of plays before you start acting like a little kid!
I have been the biggest supporter of CMR, but something has to be changed with the way that he handles his players or he will find himself in the same boat as a former coach at UGA who was let go because of his issues with institutional control.

Again,we play not tolose rather than to win. Just look at play calling in the first half. Pitiful.
If Lattimore was a Dawg, CMR would redshirt him and tell us he needs to learn to block and learn our 10 plaqys we run. Spurrier on the other hand gives him the rock 35 times and he destroys us. Geez. Big difference in mind set. We got pushed around all day yesterday is what scares me. How far behind are we in tiughness and physical ability. A-Ville your right, last week Murray ran and Mark Richt got concerned that he might get hurt anbd i guess they scolded him from running and this week he seemed to wanna run but elected to pass when clearly he had an open field for lots of yards but then Mark Richt said he should allow Murray to be natural and run i guess. Fickled i guess, bad decision making on Richt but i still think Murray by himself wouldve not made a difference in the outcome.
Ealey’s fumble turned the momentum back over to SC, that bad call the officials made after Richt’s challenge was clearly over a yard for a 1st down. I ‘d say the fumble at the 3 yard line changed everything. But we still get back to play calling by Bobo and somehow he always seem to help keep other good teams close by bad play calling. Its like the guy is on crack or he’s betting against the team in las vegas.

Every year we have a top ten or top fifteen recruiting class and every year we get our butts whipped by teams like SC, Kentucky, GT and others that can only dream of such. So we get the best players and end up taking them to the Capitol One or Independence bowl. Top quality talent and mediocre results. Kids are starting to recognize that and its why we can’t even get the best players from GA to stay home. SC gets one five star recruit and they whip us all over the field and look like they have recruited all the best players? What’s up with that?

We’ve been stuck in mediocrity for years and I didn’t see anything yesterday to say that it won’t continue for years to come. We should be in the football elite. We are a second tier team doomed to go anywhere from 7-5 to 9-3 each year and go to a second tier bowl. If you can’t run and can’t tackle, you won’t win much in the SEC. The new AD needs to take action. I am tired of excuses and reasons. Look at the Florida and Alabama programs and you’ll see how far we are from being an elite program able to recruit nationwide. Thought we were there in the early to mid 2000’s, but it’s obvious we’ve plateaued. The current coaching crew does not appear to be able to take us to the next level.
It’s not just the SC game, it is the past several seasons. Pull back and take a look. Happy with good and not great?

I can’t believe everyone on here is bashing these poor “KIDS” they are only 18 years old. WAIT isn’t that what everyone says when they get arrested are get in trouble “They are only kids give them a break” Its time for a HOUSE CLEANING from top to bottom. UGA has the talent to beat anyone, we just don’t have the coaching. I have been a ticket holder for 12 years and decided last year that it was not worth the pain, heart aches, money, etc…. to keep them because CMR is going to be here until he wants to leave and why should I pay all that money when I can watch them lose at home and save a TON on money. I have gotten a lot grief for giving them up like you are not a real fan , I can’t believe you would give u your tickets you will never be able to get more well to all the ones that have ragged me HA, HA, HA spend all that money on a poor coached team.

I come away from this game with the same conclusion I have from watching an offense called by coach Bobo the last 2 years. We have no identity on offense. When the offense is beginning to click, we try to get “cute” w/ the wildcat even after showing it and having to call a timeout. Are you serious? On obvious running downs, we pass and vice versa (cute). Bobo’s 1st year against FL as OC, GA’ 1st drive of the game, 2nd and 2 in the red zone, Stafford back to pass and SACKED, GA doesn’t convert on 3rd down AND field goal hits the upright, NO POINTS. But all we hear after the game and throughout the season is Caleb King’s inability to pick-up the pass blocking scheme. Sorry for the long winded example, but if I went back and studied all the games since he took over the play calling, I could present countless examples of his incompetence. From my understanding, Richt conveniently appointed Bobo as OC to free up his time for the “Head Coaching” responsibilities. just as Willie Martinez was the convenient pick for DC when Van Gorder left. I ask anyone reading this, when looking at the remaining schedule, how many games would you give Bobo the check mark vs. the D coordinator on the other sideline?

The offense was NOT the problem is 2006 ?
Huh ?
We redshirted Knowshon Moreno in 2006.
We had no quarterback prepared for 2006.
We determined that Joe Tereshinski III was our # 1 QB 2006
We determined that Joe Cox was our # 2 QB 2006
We determined that Matthew Stafford was our # 3 QB 2006
We beat a horrible Colorado team 14-13 at HOME 2006
We beat also ran Ole Miss 14-9 2006
We LOST by 18 points to a very bad vols team at HOME 2006
We LOST to Vanderbilt scoring only 22 points at HOME 2006
We LOST to Florida scoring only 14 points 2006
We LOST to Kentucky scoring only 20 points 2006
We scored only 15 points playing a horrible Ga tek 2006
# 90 NCAA Total Offense for all of 2006
Matthew Stafford played all 13 games with 13 interceptions 2006
Matthew Stafford had a grand total of 7 touchdown passes 2006
Matthew Stafford also fumbled the football 8 times 2006
Matthew Stafford was # 87 in the nation total offense 2006
We LOST 4 games and easily could have been 5 MORE LOSSES because of our SORRY OFFENSE 2006.
Now, as for your musings that the Offense has been HORRENDOUS since Mike Bobo took over the Offensive Coordinator Job the following year 2007, THAT I do agree with.
But, 2006 was no walk in the park for our conservative play calling offense, playing favorites not getting our best players on the field, out of condition, poorly coached offensively, unable to block for the run or for the pass offense.
We have had NO FIRE since the last time we even went to The SEC Championship Game FIVE (5) YEARS ago. The last 5 years now, starting 2006, we have had NO OFFENSE. We don’t prepare quarterbacks, are not ready to play, have no stamina, don’t care, are primadonnas and therefore have a LOSING RECORD vs SEC East the last 5 years.

It amazes me the amount of ignorance on this blog. I am a UGA fan and supporter of Coach Richt. We lost to SC in 2007 and wound up #2 in the nation at years end. Yes, the loss hurts, no I am not happy about it, but kick AJ Green off the team??? Fire Mark Richt?? SC still has to play Alabama, Florida, Auburn and Arkansas. Bottom line is you lose the chance to control your own destiny, but you control what happens to your season from this point forward. Beat Arkansas this week, win the rest. Has anyone predicted anyone to go undefeated in the SEC besides Alabama? It’s not a given they won’t lose one either. Mark Richt AVERAGES 9-10 wins a year and some people want him gone? Be careful what u wish for. And no coach in their right mind kicks a Top 10 NFL Draft pick off the team for selling an Independence Bowl jersey. Think Florida would have done that to Tebow? Alabama to Ingram? Arkansas to Mallett? Tennessee to Eric Berry? Get real!

Todd you get a “pass” this year. Those poor down linemen on defense got whooped by SC offensive line. To the CB’s and Safeties have you no shame? Take out Rambo and put Brannen Smith back there and atleast you have a player with intensity and pride. Rambo you cant tackle a runner with your back or your legs. You seemed scared to tackle lattimore, i saw this with Deion Sanders when he played with the Falcons, he had all that speed but very poor tackling skills. Now Ronnie Lott of the 49ers would punish players. If you want to have someone to look up to that would be the man Lott.
Houston you played an outstanding game, as well as Gamble did and i would hope that someone would step up and be a leader on defense and do what the coaches are not doing and that is coming down hard on someone who plays defense like a highschooler. One of you need to take control of the defense and blast them for not making plays. As far as the offense goes Murray you need to step up and be more of a leader because after all its your offense and i know youre just a freshman but put yourself in that leadership role. Make those players play hard and expect results. I hate Florida but you’d see Tebow jumping down the throat of his players on the sidelines and pumping up his fans. It’s O.K. to get excited out there and it has positive results i assure you.

As a Dawg fan I think BoBO needs to go as the OC.The offense has not been as good as since Richt was calling the games. But your not going to get a good OC at this time of the year and no one is going to leave there job at this time of the year to come to Dawgs. So ethier Coach Richt needs to take the play calling back or we are stuck with COach Bobo calling plays the rest of the year.I’m a season ticket holder and I rather have Richt calling the plays than Bobo.As for the Deffense give Todd Gramtham some time he has changed alot for the better and he will do a great job but he can”t fix everything in a few months of spring football and the month of August and 2 games in the season.Yesterdays game would have been alot worse with Willie Martinez as the DC.They would have beat us Dawgs by 30 with Martinez as the DC.AS for this being coach Richts last year I Doubt it.He got about 2 more years to get the job right in my oppinion. But i do agree the new AD needs to put some preasure on Coach Richt To make some offense coaching changes.

The current personnel is not on campus to play the 3-4 defense. No big run stopper at nose. LB’ers are too small so will have to build the program as CG gets his recruits. I would expect that practice this week will concentrate on the fundamentals. Will play Arkansas close. Arkansas should be favored by 7 at a minimum. Still think UGA will have an OK year at 8 and 4. However if the other 3 losses are to UF, AU and Tenn there will be changes.

All of you Tech fans posing as UGA fans go back to your own board and figure out how your Heisman candidate led your team to a loss against the Kansas B team – and how’s YOUR D genius working out for you? He really stopped that Kansas team that scored nada against the North Dakota B team last week, right?
Our D shut them down in the second half – it will be fine – it’s a work in progress / Murray was without some key players – should not have cost us the game but if you think one player cannot make a difference then take away Lattimore from SC and see what you would have had. We will bounce back and be fine. SC plays some tough teams this year and could easily lose a few down the road.
Nobody is going to fire CMR (who owns Tech) and Bobo cannot hold on to the ball at the goal line – Ealey needs to step up and show us he’s back. We should have had several more scores – if you can fault anything you can say that Bobo was probably too cautious with Murray in his first road game. I think that will no longer be a problem – Murray showed he’s ready – turn hiom loose!@ GO DAWGS! TECH SUCKS! Nesbitt for Heismann! YEAH RIGHT!

I thought we left the shoulder and arm tackling behind when we got rid of CWM. Allowing long, time consuming series by SC was the reason for losing. When you have a team 3rd and long and allow a runner to blast up the middle, that will make for some long days and not many happy endings. The offense when they did get the ball had moments, and did move it on them, but dumb mistakes and head scratching play calling left them inept. I not going to start with the fire the entire staff bit as others have but this should be a wake up call to fix these problems with fundamentals, as they are coaching problems, or face the unemployment line.

The defense played pretty well, except for tackling lattimore. I give him some credit, he is a load, but I saw plenty of poor tackling and he gained a ton of yardage after first contact.
I said all week tackling would be the big thing with our defense and unfortunately for us it was a problem. I thought that goal line stand at the end of the game was big. The secondary played a lot better than in recent years, but the free safety position needs some work. Rambo has already gotten sucked in on several plays and left the CB all alone with no help. Plenty to work on and build upon for next week.

Nate Potter(jr) OG 293lbs…………2star

This is 2010, not 2007. SC has a tremendous team. Lattimore makes a huge difference for them. Unless Spurrier goes into another late-season senility spin-down, this could be the year the chickens play in the SECCG. More likely, they’ll spin out and lose to Alabama and Florida. That means, if the Dogs can man up and beat the Gators, they could win out. I think Carolina hit its high note against the Dogs. No doubt. Most important, Tech lost to a bad team. Georgia lost to a good team playing their best game of the year.

Coach Richt ever since you turned over the Play Calling to Bobo what have been the results? You gotta see what the fans see and maybe what the players see as well. You have no plays designed to utilize the talents of the players you have on hand? Tight end was the position we used alot, wide outs are there, we get big plays on certain calls on offense and Bobo does what? OMG wildcat and there are plenty other bad calls. Do you not think that teams like SC, Alabama, Fla, Lsu, Auburn have inexperienced DC? Its Bobo against them and they are very prepared for our offense because Bobo is 1 dimensional. Im serious now……..Coach Richt get an OC or start calling the plays yourself. We have given Bobo 5 years to get better at the expense of 5 seasons, fans, recruiting but am growing really tired of the same ol plays year end year out. If you dont make a change it may cost you your job, fan support and recruiting. Take your own money and hire you a OC itsa not like your poor or something. Oh and while your at it get you a new and better strength and conditioning coach cause those guys were pushed all over the field saturday.

Look at the talent of the top teams in the SEC and compare it to what you saw on Saturday give or take one or two players. UGA is hurting desperately on the defensive line. What happened to the fixing of fundamental problems that killed UGA last year. Absolutely no discipline or coaching basics. Just look at the # of players arrested year after year. This is one program headed in the wrong direction. Richt will win 9 or 10 games a yr, but failing to win the big ones will keep Ga mediocre at best. I used to fault the media with not giving Ga the respect it is due, but after the last 10 seasons I have to agree with them. Respect is something you have to earn and UGA has yet to prove anything!

We all saw GA coming after Garcia that was the game plan to rattle him, sack him, and make him look bad. They kind of succeeded in that goal. Unfortunately they ignored reality as to what was happening on the field. Garcia didn’t get a chance to pass much at all. Spurrier adapted during this game Grantham was waiting for Spurrier to be Spurrier and he lost the game in the end. This to me was the headline Grantham ignored his own eyes.

What is really sad: One player sells his jersey and that is deemed 4x worse than driving on a suspended license, destroying someone’s personal property and then driving away like nothing ever happened.
Where is the priority in this process, what is the message to these young men and what does this say about the state of affairs in college football today??

It’s the little things in big games….
We have no time outs left after 7 minutes in the 3rd qrt. We are playing a SEC game on the road,,,and we have to burn all our time outs halfe thru the 3rd qrt. Players and coaches not prepared.
We have 3 series in the 1st half..3 downs and punt..no urgency to gain ball control..keep the defense off the field,,
NO EMOTION…WE LOOKED AND ACTED INTIMADATED….WE COULD NOT MAN UP!..
BOBO and the entire offense needs to watch the replay of the WV vs. Marshall game…2 4th qrt. drives of 98 and 96 yards…their play calling..execution..QB showing leadership….playing on the road…was proof that you got to be able to MAN UP..when it’s time!
Last..BOBO would not be an OC on any Division 1 team….especially in the SEC or ACC..why is he ours?

Richts Butt Cut……….is right. 10-11 against mediocre opponents. Let Jim Donnan call the plays, atleast he motivated the players, let Philip Fulmer call the plays atleast he knows how to bring the best out of players and utilize their talents, there are alot of coaches out there doing nothing but broadcasting and if you approached them the right way and not make this a public issue you might get a decent OC. We have a major i mean major problem with our offense coordinator. You know, we certainly know it and eventhough its early in the season theres no injustice about changing up things with Bobo. He knows that he cant call plays. Its kinda like owning a big corporation and you ask a mail clerk “hey you wanna be a vice-president” oh heck yes he would. More money who doesnt. But that decision will come back to haunt you and run your company down to the ground as what is happening at Georgia. Its a sinking ship in the ocean and you have no one who knows how to pale water but keeps waiting on someone to step up and pale water. It’s like Bobo has to open his book called “Offensive Plays even Dummies can do” and see what’s the next play he should call. I tell you theres no way Saban would let Bobo be his OC. After 1 series he’d be up in the booth pounding on the face of Bobo and kicking him off his coaching staff. He’d throw off his head set running up to the booth and throwing him off into the crowd below. He has no tolerance for mindless play calling, this mans serious about his program. This whole Bobo thing is a joke to me and others but you got to ask yourself how fast is the ship sinking and are there anyone who knows how to pale water.

YES from SPURRIER!! He knew we were changing to the 3-4 with only 3 down linemen and ran it down our no tackling throats.the true freshman back looked like the heisman trophy winner. What a joke UGA has become. I can hear Spurrier laughing when CMR told him “coach, you’ve got a heck of a team”.Yes he does when you play a sloppy coached team like UGA has.But we got the nicest coach in the SEC.Think that will earn us any respect or win any games against the gators or vols.

Oh yeah, the Head Ball Coach hasn’t changed a bit, has he? I like his coaching ability, but he is still classless in defeat, and classless in victory.
And, by the way, I guess we should all take with a grain of salt whatever he has to say about the NFL. He proved that he knows about as much as my mother does about winning in the NFL in his short “career” there, before he quit and went home with his tail between his legs!

A.J., the only one that will pay a price is your team and the UGA nation, which we have already paid (17-6). Your good , but not that good. I guess you would have been on (D) tackling Lattimore who is going to be worth way more than you because he looked like his mind was only on football. He didn’t look like a showboat (thug) like our whole team acts once they get talked about including Knowshone running up the sideline with his mohawk against Ala. , which started this downfall for the UGA program.
Also, the coaches are the reason we lost, not you. And from what I saw Saturday, Arron doesn’t just have to throw it up anywhere for you to catch, I think he is pretty dang accurate and more dedicated than you.

I have come to the conclusion that the talent we have on the OL is just average. They have the experience but they are just not that good. They couldn’t open holes against LL and USC exposed how week they are. We will need to pass more (They do a decent job in pass blocking) run blocking between the tackels is nothing short of awful and it has been for several years.

As far as Georgia Tech is concerned…..you got beat by a sorry i mean sorry team and if they were samuri’s then do the honorable thing. That run n gun thing or wish bone chicken bone only worked for 1 year until teams figured you out. With no passing game and/or QB you are stuck with no where to go for the next 4 years. You have to run and pray you get a 1st down sometime before half time. This will be the beggining of the end for Tech for the next 4 years unless you fire your head coach and get a new system in.

If any of you blame Todd Grantham for this lost you need to have your heads examine. Our front 3 are UNDERSIZE plus our offense didn’t stay on the field long enough to give the defense a breather. We got 5 sacks, no penalties and held SC under 18 points. That’s a huge improvement from last season. Our undersize defense will continue to struggle against the run when they play teams with big offensive linemen plus our boys need time to adjust to the 3-4 defense.

Lattimore said”our offensive line was in better shape than their defensive line,” then he said, “we knew they played their ends wide in that 3-4 and we knew we could gash them up the middle.” “Our center just moved that nose guard out, and we just keep gashing them because they kept their ends wide and couldn’t figure it out”
Spurrier said they must not run that little zone trap in the NFL———nice adjustments.
I think we are seeing the results of no two-a-days and no real tackling in camp and Rambo may be the worst safety in the SEC.

Bobo has tried to protect the qb and not let him run to prevent injury…..Well Murray had a clear path to the endzone on the first drive as he rolled out to the right and threw back across the field for an incompleted pass. Do not out coach yourself Richt and Bobo… Let the kid play. When you say you are not going to run the qb….Guess what the defense is probably going to listen to that….He was wide open for at least 15 yards if he had just run out of bounds for a first down around the five.

Spurrier shouldn’t be popping off about NFL coaching schemes given that he could never figure out basic pass protection schemes in the NFL and basically quit on the job early in his second year. Last year South Carolina put up 6 points against Alabama’s NFL scheme. Let him try to run Lattimore 37 times between the tackles on zone reads against Alabama in 4 weeks and see how it works. A coach who has lost a minimum of 5 games every year in each of his 5 years shouldn’t be popping off, but Spurrier just can’t resist when it comes to Georgia.
It’s pretty clear that Georgia has lost its physical and mental toughness over the last few years. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that it corresponds with all the off the field disciplinary problems. Grantham doesn’t have the personnel, particularly in the front 7, to run an effective 3-4 defense. The guys on ESPNU were talking this morning about how when they played the tapes of Lattimore in high school a couple of years ago he went down on first contact virtually every time despite his size. Either he got a lot tougher since then, or Georgia can’t tackle, or both.

3 Things stood out on Defense…..2 many people want to jump on pile, not make 1st hit, safeties have to learn to play ball while it’s in the air and very bad tackling technique (wrap arms around ballcarrier)…3 Things stood out on Offense….Something wrong when no Reciever has any footspeed, lineman getting manhandled on running plays and Coach afraid to throw with young QB (you said he was ready, is he or isn’t he)…..Overall view:Team needs to get Stronger (Weight Training), need bigger tailbacks (235 lbs>), need to sign best recruits in GA (quit worrying about recruits in every surrounding state), put rules inplace where every player is responsible for each other (roommates are responsible for roommates…1 screws up the whole room screws up and is subject to severe discipline for each) and lastly….go out and find the best position teaching Coaches (interview coaches from all over, incl D1AA & D2 Heads and Coordinators) and either hire them or bring them in to teach existing staff new ideas & techniques. Most of you guys are DEAD RIGHT with your comments
Richt should have been gone two years ago
A D Evans should have been discovered two years ago, as all the coaches already knew what he was doing
McGarity will not let this last much longer, he will demand much more from Richt. Mark needs to be the youth minister at some Baptist church–he’s a nice guy, but no head football coach. he knows down deep inside what’s coming. Remember before the season how he predicted this was going to be a good team this year—that was his way of praying or wishing for a good year, because he knew his butt was on the line.
Even if the tempo improves during the season, Richt must go. One more thing I will add to all the other good blogs–you can never have too many good running backs. We only have one, King will stay hurt, and he was never that good anyway. We should have a stable of good backs–they’re the ones who get hurt–look at Bama, they’re five deep with good ones. Oh we can go on and on, but to improve from our mid-tier program, we must start over.

We are all frustrated b/c we have all noticed the downward spiral of the UGA football team for the past 3 years now. UGA got flat-out dominated yesterday and they looked like a Division II school in the process. That was one of the worst tackling performances I can ever remember by a UGA team! Red Panties, unfortunately it doesn’t take equal talent to beat a Bobo-led offense (see Kentucky in ‘09), but when the talent is equal or better, it usually means bad news (see Ok State, LSU, UT, UF in ‘09).
UGA, in ‘11, with a McGarity-forced new OC, and with Grantham’s D totally in place will begin seriously challenging for the SEC again.

Hey dawgfan and others…I too have been a big CMR supporter and still am but i have to admit my patient with Coach Bobo is getting thin…He doesn’t for somereason use the talent as effectively that we have…what 3 passes to Tight ends yesterday, no screen passes, very little imagination in offensive schemes, no adjustments…this has been his pattern and it is Coach Richt’s responsibility to fix this…I not calling for him to be fired, i don’t ask that on nobody, keep him as the QB coach, but lets see how the season plays out and unless the production out of this offense improves i think a change needs to be made…I know AJ wasn’t there, but we have other playmakers, they are just not used like they should…Of course these guys have got to make plays when called on and Coach Bobo cannot catch it for them…Our defense will improve and i think we are in good hands, Coach Todd doesn’t have all the players for his system in place yet, and we are still learning but i feel good with where this defense will get too…As far as recruiting we need a big time back and the Crowell kid i believe will be at the Ark game, the fans really need to support the dawgs and get behind them this week…These recruits see and hear what our fans say so lets try and be as positive as we can…We are battling Bama for Crowell and despite the fact that Bama has some talented RB’s on hand, the atmosphere yesterday at Bama was tremendous and Crowell was at the game as my understanding..Sorry, didn’t mean to get into recruiting, but i do know that if we get on these blogs this week and bash the Coaches and our team, a high profile recruit is going to think twice about signing….Lets go beat Ark next week and hopefully that will propel us to bigger and better things…

BirdDog,
I understand the frustration. UF hasn’t looked too great either and the offensive playcalling has been suspect. But, how often has UGA ever scored a ton of points against USC? Even with Stafford, Moreno, etc.? They are always tough on defense. Spurrier now has some studs on offense (and he’s missing one of the best TE’s in the country). That team will be tough for anyone to beat except for maybe Alabama. They look head and shoulders better than anyone in the conference right now. Don’t be embarassed by losing to a better football team. If you want to be embarassed, pull for VT. They had James Madison taking the victory formation on thier home field at the end of the game! That is something to be embarassed about!!!!!! Oh, how the mighty ACC has fallen. LOL!

Every FBS game I happily watched made me sick. There is no tackling anymore in football, not just at UGA, but everywhere. Fundamentals are just not there, every highlight showed even the top tier teams that lost did not wrap anybody up, they look like they were trying not to get hurt or something. When they do go all out it’s helmet to helmet, trying to make an ESPN highlight reel, just stick a hat in the breadbasket, please !!!
FSU looked like a JV high school team out there not even lining up while the other team was running the hurry-up offense. Kansas had a few guys out there that actually had some speed & Turner took advantage of them. Virginia who knows they have nothing on offense, admittingly so still looked better than our vanilla offense, against Kiffin’s crew ! Now Boise St. big opening win has no merit with the BCS whatsoever. It’s the SEC , then everybody else, plain & simple.
I know some of the preseason FBS rankings were way out there, but some teams just need to man up, namely UGA. We will see if Lattimore is the real deal against Aub & Ala. Basically this may be the year of the offense !!! Just look at Robinson from Michigan, has a tackler laid a solid lick on him yet ? Bobo needs to use this kids arm for what he was brought here for, he only thew 2 passes to Charles, nuff said !!! Oh yeah Ala offense look a little vanilla too, but they put their speedsters in different formations to take advantage of their speed. Wake up Bobo, you sukkkk !!!!

Richt’s entire demeanor has changed. He used to be Mr. Cool Customer on the sidelines and had it all figured out. Yesterday and several times last year he looked rattled and stressed. He’s not the same coach anymore. Let’s pull our heads out of the sand and take a look around. ANOTHER double digit loss. There have been quite a few recently. We simply cannot compete at a high level anymore. Sorry.

It was obvious that the scheme had changed but those were still Willie’s players out there. Good God. Bacarri Rambo should be kicked off the team. Standing around, even the announcers said “he took the play off”. That play was in the red zone on the three. Awesome. Maybe that hit last year versus Auburn should have discouraged him from coming back to play football. Idiot. That type of crap has no business in college football. What would Nick Saban or Joe Paterno or Steve Spurrier have done to a player if he just stood and watched? Mark Richt thinks its ok to let him play the rest of the game.

my take- UGA’s defense was good but on the field too long. Must admit Lattimore is going to be a huge factor when dealing w/ USC. What a hoss!! I sat there puzzled about our offense- Bobo’s playcalling is almost predictable. Ealey’s fumble killed all the momentum and therefore the Dawgs chances of winning. Murray proved himself and look forward to the Hogs next week.

I was sitting in my living room calling a lot of the plays. Bobo is very predictable. I was really disappointed with the “D.” It looked to me is as if they did not have near the intensity that they had last week. They appeared to be slow coming off the ball, standing around; afraid to lay a lick and trying to arm tackle. I was yelling at them through my TV. The 3-4 is a great D to run on especially when you have guys standing around. Good job Spurrier, kept his game plan simple and outsmarted us.

Congratulations to SC and their fan-base and good luck the rest of the way. Lattimore is a true gem, was not tired, hardly broke a sweat and looked like a kid in line at a rollerbcoaster between plays in the huddle. A true champion in the making.
UGA has no champions. And I am not talking about SEC east/ SECCG or NCG champions. I am talking about having the heart and desire of a champion. Champions do not fumble in the red zone (Ealey), drop the ball in the end zone (Charles), fear striking a running back with your shoulders square, head up and driving your feet (Cuff, Rambo, Hamilton, Boykin and the rest of the defense). A true champion does not limit the game plan based on environment and experience (Bobo/Richt). A champion does not use poor judgement (Green, Ealey, King, Ogeltree) and compromise personal and team goals.
Don’t get me wrong. These young men are excellent football players and many of them will play at the next level and I will continue to watch them and cheer for them just as I always have. They want to be champions and they talk like they want to be champions…. but it is an intangible, innate inherited quality that is not coached, taught or aquired. You cant hold it , see it, touch or smell but you can sure sense it when it shows up.
Dawgs do not have the heart and spirit of a champion. IF and when it shows up you will recognize it immediately. Until then.

Guys, keep your heads up. UGA matches up better with Arkansas than USC. From listening to Richt after the game, they’ll open up the offense more in the coming weeks. The defense is going to struggle at times all season with physical teams due to not having the personnel needed up front to run Garntham’s style. Still lots of football to be played and every team in the conference looks beatable except for Bama.

UGA was defeated mentally prior to the game. They lacked fire and as the gae wore on, they were defeated. Disgusting.
O line is vastly over rated ………….again in 2010. This is a function of poor recruiting and coaching.
UGA has no running backs that are true, big time SEC backs. UT has superior backs to UGA. KY does too and Arkansas most of the other SEC teams.
Mike Bobo is a failed expeiriment. He needs to go now.
The D line for UGA is undersized and will be our achilles heel all year long. Yesterday is the KEY to defeating UGA …………..run up the middle, then dump off over the middle and you can dominate.
Generally in recruiting ……………UGA has not recruited big time backs. Yes, I know Lattimore was close to signing with UGA. Close counts in grenades, unless OBama is president, then there will be no grenades.
Bobo throttled back Aaron Murray and he had a chance to make a running play or two to sustain drives but was told not to run. See above Bobo comment.
Washuan Ealey needs to leave the team. He cost UGA the 09 KY game with a fumble in the same spot and again, yesterday, plus his off the field arrest record. He can not be counted on folks. We all know it.
AJ Green should also not be allowed to return. His selfish actions cost UGA at least 10 points.
Murray is the only bright spot on this UGA team and UGA will have a losing season.
I’ve been following and attending home and away UGA games since the early 60s. I am an alumnus too. My wife is and family are.
UGA is going to see much worse before it gets better.

I saw one pass out in the flat where our defender was looking straight at him and it appeared as if he was like “ok you go ahead and catch it and I will just wait over here and once you get a few yards I will try to are tackle you.” I was like man clean his clock you see the ball coming. If our D would have laid the wood, well who knows. I know that SC has a good team but so do we. We absolutely have the talent to compete but I agree with an earlier post that we are not using our talent properly. Whipped on the o-line and d-line and even the special teams …….. I thought the o-line was overrated last year and they still can’t run block effectively. We have the RB’s to do the job but they need a little help from the line. Every time Murray rolled out (very few times) he was successful. BoBo should have thrown more sideline patterns because S.C. never covered them but BoBo couldn’t figure that out for some reason. Murray was decent but threw behind receivers 3-4 times which didn’t give them a chance to run after the catch. He will get better. Bottom line: on offense UGA should have run wide and thrown wide and they should have used Brandon Smith on end arounds and bootlegged Murray out on a couple of runs.. S.C. was playing in tight to stop the run up the middle but BoBo rarely challenged them outside to make them have wider splits in their line. Now to the defense. UGA had a DE playing nose tackle and Lattimore simply ran behind the double team on the nose tackle when they were in the 3-4. Lattimore outweighs UGA’s DB’s by at least 30 lbs a man and he is obviosly very strong. Garcia wasn’t great passing but UGA was so concerned about him running to the outside that they played their d-line with splits to far apart to stop the run up the middle. S.C. has a good QB, good receivers and a great (freshman) RB. Their o-line is decent but not great. UGA’s defense covered passes well most of the time. The score could have been worse as S.C. receivers dropped two T.D. passes and Garcia missed a receiver wide open deep. On S.C. second drive Mark Richt challenged the spot that gqave S.C. a first down on 3rd down at S.C. ’s short of S.C.’s 30 yard line. The replay was shown several times and every time the ball was at least a yard short of the 1st down and S.C. would have had to kick. I still don’t know how the refs can review something that obvios and GIVW S.C. a 1st down. Even the announcers said thsat it wasn’t close..the defense will get better. The UGA offense had most of their starters back against a good defense and they just weren’t utilized properly to keep drives going. Three and outs wear down the defense. Game over.

The Willie Martinez anti-tackling virus is still infecting Georgia’s defense. It that wasn’t enough, Bob “Mentally Challenged” Davie pointed out the Bicarri Rambo took a play off that cost us a TD. I thought our new coaches were suppose to be instilling fundamental football skills including the correct way to tackle. You don’t bring down a guy like Lattimore by crossing your arms and trying to knock him over. You have to hit take away his legs and wrap your arms around his thighs. This is football 101, which they teach 9 year olds.
My patience is wearing thin for our OL, talk about a group of underacheivers. How is it you can pass protect, but can NOT open holes for our RB’s? If they couldn’t open holes against the Ragin Cajun’s I was concerned they weren’t going to be able to do it against a far better defense. I was right, they couldn’t do it.
Bottom Line: Our players came out flatter than a pancake and by the end of the 2nd Qtr. had completely given up. Grantham did a nice job of making adjustments, but as the Evil Visor boy pointed out, they couldn’t stop a play that was run over-and-over again. How pathetic is that? We got beat physically in the trenches and when that happens it doesn’t matter if you have two AJ Green’s. Face Dawg Fans we got our arse kicked. I don’t think Richt can afford to stop at the changes he made on defense. He needs to take a long hard look at our offense and without question needs to give Rodney Garner is walking papers.

Can USC help it if they now have 6 stud receivers and UGA has only one? Do you feel the talent shift? Making it’s way across the Savannah?……………..Feels like a 7 on the Rich-ter scale to me.

I’m so sick of you negative idiots. The defense did look bad in the first half. They were not wrapping up and couldn’t stop a very talented Marcus Lattimore. In the second half I saw something I haven’t seen in 5 years, ADJUSTMENTS!!!! The D played 100 times better in the second half and kept us in the game. They pretty much contained Lattimore the entire half until late in the fourth quarter when the fatigue from being on the field all day set in. Out of Lattimore’s 182 yds. 120 or so came in the first half. The coaching staff’s biggest mistake was not giving Murray enough of the playbook to move the ball better. They even admitted as much in the post game interview. The reason we couldn’t run the ball as explosively as we are capable of is because without AJ, SC was loading the box with 7 or 8 men all game long. The D made good adjustments and kept us alive, the offensive gameplan was the flaw, but when you have a redshirt freshman going on the road against an experienced team you have to be some what conservative. This team is still very talented and still has alot to play for. No one needs to be fired, so just shut up already. Idiots!

SC is not a “great team”. The problem is that UGA made them look like a good team. SC will get whipped by Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, possibly Florida and then Clemson. In fact it wouldn’t shock me if Furman upset them next week because that’s how SC is. SC was jacked up a mile high for this game. And Spurrier is enough of a coach wizard that he knew how to exploit our weaknesses in the defense.
Anytime you have an aggressive, rushing defense, you’re going to open up the middle to runs and short passes. Grantham doesn’t have the personnel to run this type of defense fully successfully at UGA yet. How long will UGA be patient for him to get it? I don’t know. But I give him credit because the 2d half he did manage to slow them down. What I don’t understand is why he wasn’t ready for Lattimore in the 1st half. It was as if he didn’t even game plan for him.
But defensive woes aside, yesterday was lost primarily due to lack of offensive production. Murray is a great QB. Cox couldn’t even lick his boots. Bobo is the nitwit. He is so over his head it’s sickening. Here is where CMR fails as a coach: he cannot separate his personal feelings for a poor coach and give him the boot. This is where he failed with Martinez and he allowed Martinez to destroy the program 2yrs longer than he should’ve because of his refusal to boot him. I have heard that CMR was forced to fire Martinez and now I believe it. The same will happen with Bobo as the AD will strong arm him to fire him. But I really don’t think CMR will be here next year if this team finishes as poorly as is currently being projected.
Stop giving Bobo high marks as a QB coach. Did Stafford ever learn to launch the ball on the right foot consistently? Hell no! Stafford was a good QB based on raw talent and whatever coaching he brought with him from HS. Bobo did not develop him…Stafford developed on his own. Murray’s growth will also be on sheer talent.
Bobo would be better at a HS level. Whatever the case unless CMR intervenes and helps him with his play calling and offensive game plans we will be lucky to beat Vandy this year.
Look at Alabama. Saban has brought them back in just a few years. Stop telling me we don’t have talent. Look at the talent we recruit and get. It’s the coaching that sucks. We are no where near the calibre of team that Bama is and I don’t think it’s in the near future with this staff.

I’m sick of hearing all you candy ass commenters who never played anything criticize so many things about what lost the game. Listen up dummies, Bama doesn’t run fancy plays. They don’t call any more blitzes. They block. They tackle. Period. They have better, stronger players that block better and tackle better. The only top flight recruits that we have gotten in the last few years are skill players. Our offensive line is full of 3 star guys. Our defensive line has Dobbs, Wood, Tripp- come on. They couldn’t even play scout team at Alabama. Dent, Gamble, Robinson, Gilliard were 3 stars. Cuff and Rambo
were 3 stars. Our fans think we get all these five star recruits- not when it comes to blocking and tackling. Last year’s class with Ogletree, Stripling, Benedict and Houston was an improvement. This year’s class could be the best in 6 years in regards to defense and lineman. For some reason, the last 5 years we recruited great skill, but we missed out on some great lineman and linebackers. Period. You can blame Richt or Garner for this. But quit blaming play calling or the way they prepare. Many of these players are just mediocre. The Davis boys on the o line, Dobbs and Wood, Cuff and Rambo- The reason why these players lack strength, good form, intensity is because they are those type of players – 3 star players. On our lines, linebackers and secondary
we have more 3 star players than anything. The only complaint I have about the coaching,
is the poor tackling- that is not Georgia football. Even 3 star players can wrap up.

Team Success Doesn’t depend on how many 5 star players your team recruits. Look at Boise State and BYU. Stanford even has a good team without 5 star players, so the 3 star recruits explanation is wrong. Its a team sport in the end

Richt reminds me of John Cooper when he was at Ohio State.
Cooper: 111-43-4 record over 13 years (.702 win pct / 8.5 wins a year)
3 conference titles.
Richt: 91-28 record over 9+ years (.764 win pct / 9.9 wins a year)
3 conference titles.
Both have good records that most teams would love to have but still can’t seem to get over the “hump”.
Tons of NFL draft picks, but no national titles.
Cooper: 2-10-1 against Michigan
Richt: 2-7 against Florida
I know it’s not guaranteed to happen likewise, but if Ohio State hadn’t dumped John Cooper because he was “pretty good”, they wouldn’t have got Jim Tressel. Anyone know how he turned out?
Last time I checked, Georgia brings in the cash. Use it to get who we need.
Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, Clemson, and GA Tech have a combined SEVEN national titles since Georgia won one, with Alabama winning the two before 1980. The state of Florida has TEN. Even Auburn has gone undefeated.
Enough! For me, Richt has two years to get this train back on track or out you go like John Cooper.

My thoughts as a longtime fan;
I don’t care what AJ has to say, his career should be over in my opinion. He did what he did and I’m personally not upset about what he did, its the fact that there are rules in place and he chose to break them. AJ did it to himself and hurt the team in the process. Our guys knew ahead of time that AJ would not play, you figure somebody would step up.
I’m starting to get a little frustrated by having a coach whose sole purpose seems to be looked upon as a classy guy and a gentleman. Outside the field, fine, be Mr. Niceguy. I would like a guy with a Patton-like attitude while on the field. Its no surprise that the last few years we’ve had the most penalized and undisciplined team in the nation. Not to mention all the off-field crap that goes on with the players every year.
Saturday was a clear example of the same kind of attitude our team has. The O-line was being pushed around and was not creating anything for the running game. This was supposed to be our strength this year, how many times have we heard this?
Our D-line and our secondary were being dragged down the field by a TRUE FRESHMAN RB.
The tackling was flat out embarassing, probably the worst I have seen since CMR has been in charge.
The secondary created nothing. We knew that USC receiver’s are much bigger than our guys, we had to be very physical but we were scared for some reason. Rambo, Hamilton, Boykin, and Cuff looked like scrubs out there.
Bobo should be coaching HS teams, just nothing good with that guy. CMR needs to get involved calling plays on the offense.
Certain teams will win when they scheme better than the opposition. Our coaches always get beat by the opposition. Not to mention the fact that our players seem to lack the basic football fundementals that are taught in HS football.
I like CMR and all but I believe this is all fair criticism. All of this has been happening under his watch. CMR needs to start being held accountable for the lack of preparation and fundementals of our football team.
I don’t think I’m the only person who believes that UGA football deserves better.

Bobo scripts his plays and has no idea about the down and yardage. One interesting common occurence is on 2nd and 10 we always run right up the middle and best case scenario is 3rd and 6. Nothing wrong with current offense except Bobo. Defense is not mean enough, therefore waits till someone else makes the tackle. DL playing like a middle school line forgetting the objective is to tackle the ball carrier not to push the OL down. UGA ’s manhood hurt badly by the ole smart ass.

We should have won against SC. Murray is much better than Garcia and Spurrier knows he can not win more than 8 games without a better QB. That’s why he ran a freshman 37 times. CMR will never get rid of Bobo, not because he’s is a lousy offensive coordinator , but because Bobo has 5 kids under 6 years old. And there you have what CMR biggest problem is, not being able to separate his beliefs and strong family values, with his job as head coach. If I was CMR I would keep Bobo on as a position coach but it is very clear to everyone that Bobo can’t be a coordinator. I hope it doesn’t take getting rid of CMR for him to admit Bobo isn’t getting the job done. I hope this is not a replay of how long it took CMR to admit Martinez wasn’t a defensive coordinator.

I think UGA would be best served if we just made this group of comment makers the governing body of our football program. the composite view would count as the ultimate mandate, and that would be that. So, for example, aft our loss to SC we would: fire richt, bobo, and give Gman 3 games or else to right the defense. We would also suspend Green for the year. We would fire Searels. And we would fire our strength coach. And we would blame them all when we went 4-8. But we’d feel better abt ourselves. Direct democracy football – undoubtedly the wave of the future. But the level of genius and wisdom exhibited here absolutely validates it.

Well,
I’m not ready to throw in the towel.
1st – We didn’t tackle well. That’s correct, but keep in mind that we won’t see another back that big and good this year. We are small on the d-line with our starters and with a 3-4 that makes it tough.
2nd – We will match up better against ARK. We did have 5 sacks and Garcia ripped us up last year.
3rd – We fumbled the ball away at a point in the game where we could’ve tied it. That’s deflating.
4th – Our tight ends dropped 2 key passes and bobbled away another that would have been a first down.
5th – Despite that we stayed close to a team that is going to be Spurrier’s best.
5th My biggest issues with yesterday are our general strength, specifically the O-line and the bizarre waste of 3 timeouts in the first 8 minutes of the 3rd quarter.
Things aren’t always as bad as they seem. This team will be OK. Look at the schedule. Arkansas is not a world beater and we match up much better against them and we play at home. Ms. St. will be tough, but they are not world beaters. Colo is pitiful as is Tenn and Vandy. Ky is nothing special. Florida has looked weak themselves. Idaho St….yea. Auburn is yet to be seen and Tech lost to Kansas. The world is not over.

Nobody has mentioned the new AD, McGarity. Maybe he needs to have a private meeting with CMR and his coaches and emphasize the need for the entire UGA athletics program to have a constant source of income. Games that are played, as the SC game was played, will likely project a downturn in income for the remaining football games, basketball games, and the rest of the UGA athletic program. Negativity breeds negativity, and the football program needs someone to step up and advance the program. If the current coaching staff can’t “get ‘er done”, changes will have to be made.

Guess Ealey concentrated on the end zone as much as he concentrated on driving a car with a suspended license. As for the rest of the year it’s now history. Kick all of the fools of the team that have caused trouble. They are major distractions to this team and are an embarrassment to the university. Let’s face it Caleb King probably could have played if he hadn’t been used so much in the first half the week before. For that we can blame Mr. Ealey. Thanks for ruining the season.

I know I’m going to pee a lot of folks off here but let me say I’m a CMR fan, he is a great guy and can stay forever as far as I’m concerned because of the type family man and spiritual man he is. However, he is a major coach at what should be a major program yet he has no control of his players, Apparently doesn’t expect much from his coaches, and just doesn’t seem to have a fire in his belly. Jumping up and down on the field, dropping the f-bomb to your players apparently gets the crowd whipped in a frenzy but, as evidenced by USC game, does nothing to prepare a defense with a known super stud. We weren’t blind sided by Lattimore, we went after him for heaven sake. Someone smarter than me please tell me why a program with as much money as UGA, I hold 6season tickets, and have for years, we know how much we are forced to contribute, then buy the tickets, then $5 drinks and snacks for the kids, etc, and the stadium is always a sellout. The program could practically pay off the national debt, WHY DO WE ALWAYS GET NO NAME COACHES. I’m sure our DC is fine somewhere but is he ready for UGA, even if he did come from the pros??? It’s a different world, just ask Spurrier and Saban. Look at our prospects when Willie was fired? Money talks and we got enough to talk loud. I don’t care what they say the reason was
we didn’t get other coaching prospects. BoBo, you beat the gators once, in 97 I think, and for that are grateful. But do the the right thing and go be a head coach at a lower division school. You’re not ready for this task. Everyone in the stadium knows what you’re going to do, even the children. If you do something 10 times in a row and it fails miserably 10 times in a row, think about mayb changing things a little. And if you got a player with ability let him use that ability. Coach Richt………..please…………

richt gets referred to as “opposing coach” and not even by name….spurrier obviously doesn’t respect him….any why should he as richt is an offensive-minded coach and there was nothing that the offense showed which merits any desrved respect

It’s past time to clean house. Richt is not tough enough on anything….discipline, conditioning, penalties, getting after the players and chewing their a**, take your pick. Bobo, Grantham, Richt, Van Halenger, all a bunch of cream puffs compared to Saban, Smart, and the Bama staff including their strength coach. If you watched the Bama and PSU game and couldn’t tell the difference in a winning program and ours, you just don’t know football. Grantham may be new, but when did arm tackling and standing around become part of the defensive package? A decade is long enough to
establish your program, and Georgia’s is heading the wrong way. Let’s fix it now.

Bobo throws to Durham 5 or 6 times in a beat down of UL-L…….then throws to him FEWER times in a big time game? What is his aversion to throwing Kris the ball??? Let the man step up..he is ready to be and can be a difference maker. He won’t be there next year to ignore.

Congratulations, the sc. Dawgs, we lost on the line of scrimage. On both sides of the ball. Our lineman did not act like they knew how to run block at all. No surge forward, at all on offense.. The same for our defense. We seem to be undersize, or under strength. Little forward movement when the ball was snapped. Again, congratulations to sc’s line and Lattimore. He made our linebackers appear not to know how to wrap up a runner. We can do better than last Sat. DAWGS!!!!! Get your dander and pride up!!!!!!!Go DAWGS!!!!

Spurrier always has digs. that’s part of his deal. less when you beat him and the Dawgs didn’t. Always felt his career at S.C. would have turned out a lot different if his team had beat Florida in his 2nd year instead of all those blocked kicks

OK “fans”, remember three weeks ago…new, untested QB and new D…hard pressed to win a lot of games with that combo. Vegas had SC by three.
CMR and Bobo have limited the playbook for Murray. CMR said Sunday that perhaps now it’s time to let Murray use the whole book, or at least a LOT more of it.
Sure it was disappointing that we couldn’t run nor stop the run…two things you have GOT to do in the SEC. Let’s see what happens against the Rbacks.

If King was injured then is Ealey the only back we have on campus????? They obviously don’t think too highly of Thomas are anyone else to carry the ball. Did Brandon Smith carry the ball at all?? Am I missing something.
Could the UGA offense be anymore vanilla?? No reverse, double reverse, wild cat (I think Ealey ran 1 for about 5 yards). Nope standard runs and passes. Hell we hardly even use our fullbacks and they are some big ol’ boys!!!
I’ll have two scoops of vanilla please!!!!

AJ needs to get off Tweet and just shut the hell up.
The punk knowingly violated NCAA rules and even more stupid than that, apparantley didn’t care and thought he would get away with it.
UGA is not a 1-man team. I wouldn’t care if we lost every game– AJ and the rest of these immature punks can sit the bench the rest of the season.

Well, we’ve been here before….no run blocking = no run game = more passes = no control of game = defense spends too much time on field = sorry tackling = LOSS. Where was physicality of off line and defense? Bottom line = we got our butts handed to us on a silver platter on both sides of ball!! How in the hell are you not mentally prepared to play one of the most important games of the season?…….

I could see this season ending like 2007. The schedule isn’t too tought, and the best team in the SEC is in the West just like in 2007. In 07 I thought Georgia and LSU were the two best teams. This year I think Alabama is definately number one and I think I would rather Georgia win out, but not win the SEC East so they don’t have to face the Tide.

if it werent for fumble UGA might have won. I’m still shaking my head that even tho Lattimore racked up the yards, the margin was not that great.
given that, Greene and UGA have been royally screwed.even this Yellow Jacket feels for you Dawgs
looks like the NCAA loves to jerk off the low hanging fruit, then put it on ice. like giving out parking tickets and changing the fine, while murders go on down the street.
give you a hint: get a good offensive game back and Bama won’t be the only ones the turkey buzzards will have to worry about! Good Luck. hoochbear

Man, BDawg, if you are a man, how can you with any dignity say revamp the offense now…seriously??? While i agree we need a change it does not begin with CMR(COACH MARK RICHT). Yes Aaron as we have seen after JUST 2(TWO) games is a talented QB. But we have to hold the players to completing the plays not the coaches and i’ve seen the coach, coach these guys up! WE have on hell of a coach in Richt and while we have not won a NC…wtf…he gave us 2 SEC championships, something we didn’t have for 20 years. Putting together a quality NC team takes time and talent…and short or the BCS robbing us of our opportunity I know we are well on our way
AS concerning AJ GREEN…girls…. and guys that are girls….back off. He made a mistake just like the rest of us have made in our live….What??? just because he is a star athlete we should ostracize him? You f-ing hypocrites…I wish you could be hung out to dry for your past mistakes!!!! GO DAWGS! and Much Success to AJ GREEN in the NFL making mega dollars your naysayers wish your weren’t!!!!!!!!!!

Green might be stupid, but he had to know what he did was punishable to the detriment of the TEAM… Jackass don’t give a rip about his team… Go on to the NFL, prickman… What an egotistical a-hole… ought to be kicked off the team, but Richt doesn’t have the balls for that, either..
