(Please click here for the game story on Georgia’s loss to South Carolina.)
COLUMBIA – The suspended A.J. Green shared his feelings about Saturday’s loss via Twitter.
“I’m sick,” he tweeted.
“But we will bounce back,” he added. “[W]hen I get back someone will have a price to pay. [T]rust me!!!!!”
In Green’s absence, seven Georgia players caught passes against South Carolina, led by Kris Durham’s three for 76 yards, including a long of 55.
“You can’t replace A.J.,” Durham said. “I tried to step up. We all tried to step up our game. But you can’t replace that. He’s one of the best players in college football.”

South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier appreciated some postgame words from Mark Richt.
“I shook hands with the opposing coach, and he said, ‘Coach, you have a heck of a team,’” Spurrier said. “I don’t think anyone has ever told us that before [at South Carolina].”
In his postgame news conference, Spurrier took just a little dig at Georgia’s new defensive coordinator, Todd Grantham, a long-time NFL assistant.
“When you have a back like Marcus [Lattimore] and the linemen opened cracks, I’m sure that Georgia defensive coordinator [became frustrated],” Spurrier said. “That little inside zone play, the NFL doesn’t run that play. That’s a new scheme, I guess.
“I’m sure they knew we’d run it, but they certainly didn’t stop it much.”
Lattimore’s 37 carries were the most against Georgia since Auburn’s Kenny Irons had the same number for 179 yards in 2005.
++++++++++
Tailback Caleb King, who got only one carry in the second half of the season opener because of a twisted ankle, got none Saturday.
“He was hobbling most of the week in practice,” Richt said.
Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo conceded that King’s absence “hurt us a little bit” but said he thought Washaun Ealey “was fresh and ran hard” throughout.
Ealey, making his season debut after being suspended from the opener, had 75 yards on 19 carries. But he fumbled near the goal line in the third quarter as Georgia seemed poised to score a touchdown. South Carolina’s Stephon Gilmore recovered the fumble at the Gamecocks’ 1-yard line and returned it 13 yards to the 14.
“I saw the end zone and was focused on trying to get in there,” Ealey said. “I wasn’t focused on the ball, and that’s what cost us.”
++++++++++
Outside linebacker Justin Houston had three sacks, the most by a UGA player since Marcus Howard’s three against Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl following the 2007 season.
Houston also had a career-high 10 tackles and a forced fumble.
But the fine individual numbers were ruined by the score, he said. “We lost, so I feel like I lost.”

Bobo scripts his plays and has no idea about the down and yardage. One interesting common occurence is on 2nd and 10 we always run right up the middle and best case scenario is 3rd and 6. Nothing wrong with current offense except Bobo. Defense is not mean enough, therefore waits till someone else makes the tackle. DL playing like a middle school line forgetting the objective is to tackle the ball carrier not to push the OL down. UGA ’s manhood hurt badly by the ole smart ass.

We should have won against SC. Murray is much better than Garcia and Spurrier knows he can not win more than 8 games without a better QB. That’s why he ran a freshman 37 times. SC doesn’t have any thing else on on offense except Lattimore. UGA needs to schedule easy teams their first 2 or 3 games , certainly not a big rival game.

CMR will never get rid of Bobo, not because he’s is a lousy offensive coordinator , but because Bobo has 5 kids under 6 years old. And there you have what CMR biggest problem is, not being able to separate his beliefs and strong family values, with his job as head coach. If I was CMR I would keep Bobo on as a position coach but it is very clear to everyone that Bobo can’t be a coordinator. I hope it doesn’t take getting rid of CMR for him to admit Bobo isn’t getting the job done. I hope this is not a replay of how long it took CMR to admit Martinez wasn’t a defensive coordinator.

I think UGA would be best served if we just made this group of comment makers the governing body of our football program. the composite view would count as the ultimate mandate, and that would be that. So, for example, aft our loss to SC we would: fire richt, bobo, and give Gman 3 games or else to right the defense. We would also suspend Green for the year. We would fire Searels. And we would fire our strength coach. And we would blame them all when we went 4-8. But we’d feel better abt ourselves. Direct democracy football – undoubtedly the wave of the future. But the level of genius and wisdom exhibited here absolutely validates it.

Well,
I’m not ready to throw in the towel.
1st – We didn’t tackle well. That’s correct, but keep in mind that we won’t see another back that big and good this year. We are small on the d-line with our starters and with a 3-4 that makes it tough.
2nd – We will match up better against ARK. We did have 5 sacks and Garcia ripped us up last year.
3rd – We fumbled the ball away at a point in the game where we could’ve tied it. That’s deflating.
4th – Our tight ends dropped 2 key passes and bobbled away another that would have been a first down.
5th – Despite that we stayed close to a team that is going to be Spurrier’s best.
5th My biggest issues with yesterday are our general strength, specifically the O-line and the bizarre waste of 3 timeouts in the first 8 minutes of the 3rd quarter.
Things aren’t always as bad as they seem. This team will be OK. Look at the schedule. Arkansas is not a world beater and we match up much better against them and we play at home. Ms. St. will be tough, but they are not world beaters. Colo is pitiful as is Tenn and Vandy. Ky is nothing special. Florida has looked weak themselves. Idaho St….yea. Auburn is yet to be seen and Tech lost to Kansas. The world is not over.

Nobody has mentioned the new AD, McGarity. Maybe he needs to have a private meeting with CMR and his coaches and emphasize the need for the entire UGA athletics program to have a constant source of income. Games that are played, as the SC game was played, will likely project a downturn in income for the remaining football games, basketball games, and the rest of the UGA athletic program. Negativity breeds negativity, and the football program needs someone to step up and advance the program. If the current coaching staff can’t “get ‘er done”, changes will have to be made.

I don’t usually watch very much college football, just catch up on the scores on Monday. But, I had a chance to watch the Georgia game on Saturday and noticed that the coach for South Carolina looks a lot like the coach whose team used to kick some Dogs’ A$$ back in the 90s.

Our program is becoming mediocre and a let down year after year. I am tired of waiting for “next year”
Alabama, Florida, etc. don’t talk about next year because it’s going great that year. We have become weak and unmotivated also lacking in focus from coaches and players. I think our players are more concerned with the social seen in Athens than having a winning program and the staff won’t put thier foot down.

I am concerned. The staff admitting they are holding Murry back so he won’t get hurt. What good is a weapon if you don’t use it. Would a commander in a military tell his men not to fire thier weapons because they may jam up. If you try keeping your talent from getting hurt you end up with a program like we have right now, a push over

The ole ball coach will be eating Gamecrow if Lattimore gets injured — he should be praising his players and not demeaning other coaches. I’m glad Lattimore wasn’t recruited out of Georgia like the other half of USC/s team — that would hurt. It was bad enough having to watch Cameron Heyward play in the Ohio State game.

Guess Ealey concentrated on the end zone as much as he concentrated on driving a car with a suspended license. As for the rest of the year it’s now history. Kick all of the fools of the team that have caused trouble. They are major distractions to this team and are an embarrassment to the university. Let’s face it Caleb King probably could have played if he hadn’t been used so much in the first half the week before. For that we can blame Mr. Ealey. Thanks for ruining the season.

I know I’m going to pee a lot of folks off here but let me say I’m a CMR fan, he is a great guy and can stay forever as far as I’m concerned because of the type family man and spiritual man he is. However, he is a major coach at what should be a major program yet he has no control of his players, Apparently doesn’t expect much from his coaches, and just doesn’t seem to have a fire in his belly. Jumping up and down on the field, dropping the f-bomb to your players apparently gets the crowd whipped in a frenzy but, as evidenced by USC game, does nothing to prepare a defense with a known super stud. We weren’t blind sided by Lattimore, we went after him for heaven sake. Someone smarter than me please tell me why a program with as much money as UGA, I hold 6season tickets, and have for years, we know how much we are forced to contribute, then buy the tickets, then $5 drinks and snacks for the kids, etc, and the stadium is always a sellout. The program could practically pay off the national debt, WHY DO WE ALWAYS GET NO NAME COACHES. I’m sure our DC is fine somewhere but is he ready for UGA, even if he did come from the pros??? It’s a different world, just ask Spurrier and Saban. Look at our prospects when Willie was fired? Money talks and we got enough to talk loud. I don’t care what they say the reason was
we didn’t get other coaching prospects. BoBo, you beat the gators once, in 97 I think, and for that are grateful. But do the the right thing and go be a head coach at a lower division school. You’re not ready for this task. Everyone in the stadium knows what you’re going to do, even the children. If you do something 10 times in a row and it fails miserably 10 times in a row, think about mayb changing things a little. And if you got a player with ability let him use that ability. Coach Richt………..please…………

It’s past time to clean house. Richt is not tough enough on anything….discipline, conditioning, penalties, getting after the players and chewing their a**, take your pick. Bobo, Grantham, Richt, Van Halenger, all a bunch of cream puffs compared to Saban, Smart, and the Bama staff including their strength coach. If you watched the Bama and PSU game and couldn’t tell the difference in a winning program and ours, you just don’t know football. Grantham may be new, but when did arm tackling and standing around become part of the defensive package? A decade is long enough to
establish your program, and Georgia’s is heading the wrong way. Let’s fix it now.

Congratulations, the sc. Dawgs, we lost on the line of scrimage. On both sides of the ball. Our lineman did not act like they knew how to run block at all. No surge forward, at all on offense.. The same for our defense. We seem to be undersize, or under strength. Little forward movement when the ball was snapped. Again, congratulations to sc’s line and Lattimore.
