UGA opener is sold out, extending streak to 58 games

ATHENS – Around midnight Monday, Georgia sold the last ticket to Saturday’s football opener against Louisiana-Lafayette.

That means the Bulldogs’ streak of consecutive home sellouts has reached 58, extending into a 10th season.

The last Georgia home game not to sell out was the Nov. 25, 2000, game against Georgia Tech.

Tickets had been available to Saturday’s opener because Louisiana-Lafayette relinquished most of its allotment. The Ragin’ Cajuns were contractually entitled to 4,500 tickets but wound up selling 490, leaving UGA with the other 4,010 to sell.

Georgia currently has no tickets available to any of this season’s home games in 92,746-seat Sanford Stadium, although it’s possible that some could become available if returned by an opponent later in the season. Opponents can return tickets from their allotments until three weeks before a game.

The  Bulldogs’ opener kicks  off at 12:21 p.m. Saturday.

Note: At noon today, and each Tuesday during the season, Mark Richt will hold a news conference to discuss the week’s game. Please follow @ajcuga on Twitter for instant updates.

Are you kidding me – Really ? Without aspirations what are you shooting for? Fans are here to hope for their team – unless it’s an ACC team – which you are probably a fan of sorry I forgot your inferiority complex. Carry on with your jealousy.

uh no, 35% of people willing to give an answer to some online poll said that chief. I don’t think anybody came to thier house to determine thier qualifications.

Should we apply that same deductive reasoning to determine that 90% of tech fans are childish and bitter based on reading the UGA blogs?

DAWGS rule…. this has been such a none story trying to make it a story. We wouldn’t have even had the tickets if it were not for the return of tickets from the opponent.

Now here is a story….

Tech has sold and distributed (means gave away because they wouldn’t sell) 46,000 tickets for Saturday’s game. Bobby Dodd Stadium seats 55,000.

This is NOT big news for UGA, but you know it kills the bugs…The fact that we hadn’t sold out was one of the only things they had to talk about, and now we’ve taken that away, too.

Nerds, this means that this decade, we have averaged nearly 91,000 in the stands for every home game. It would take at least 2 of your home games against quality opponents to get that many bees in the stands.

Gotta laugh! The insects are funny and predictable.

Just like every other year, they will ALL be sold out. Even Idaho St. (There might be some empty seats but it will be sold out)

Tech probably won’t sell out any games this year…not even their conference games.

Have no fear gnat-gnuts, we’ll be back in 2011. As usual we’ll have more fans in the seats than you do, but it will be a sell-out!

Why are there no stories on tickets sold by the nerd school on north ave who won the ACC last year? Shouldn’t every game be sold out? What a bunch of losers. They won’t sellout a single game.

490 tickets for La Laf. That sounds like the players & cheerleaders family and some administrators. I know it is a long drive but I would think more fans would like to spend the Holiday weekend in the Atlanta area. Enjoy the game dawgs.

UGA folks can brag all you want to about beating Tech in football most years, and that’s perfectly fair. What’s also fair is to point out that with a history of Jan Kemp (Vince Dooley days), Jim Harrick, and now Damon Evans, UGA is truly “The Cesspool of the South,” and is richly deserving of that title. No one outside of Georgia has any respect for UGA or its athletic department, and that is a fact. It has been said many times: “Tech people are proud of their school, Georgia people are proud of their team.” What a legacy to be proud of!

UGA fans can now return to your mobile home parks and resume waiting for your unemployment checks.

And watching those red panties falling from the sky, always a good time-killer for thUGA dawgtards.  :-)  :-)  :-)

This just shows you UGA fans indeed don’t have much better things to do. Louisiana-Lafayette, really? with all the ticket-selling scheme by UGA? really?

I’d rather donate my money to the school like most Tech fans do, than scammed by UGA’s schematic ticket selling maneuvers.

Fans get what they pay for. If you’ll pay full price for the likes of La.-Lafayette and Idaho State, that’s what you’ll get. It’s not just Georgia, but pretty much everyone in the SEC. They’re not getting my money for that crap.
