Inching toward its 58th consecutive home sellout, Georgia has fewer than 200 tickets remaining for Saturday’s football opener against Louisiana-Lafayette, associate athletic director Alan Thomas said this morning.
A large block of tickets became available to the opener when Louisiana-Lafayette relinquished most of its allotment. The Ragin’ Cajuns were contractually entitled to 4,500 tickets but wound up selling 490, Thomas said last week. That left UGA with the other 4,010 to sell.
If the remaining tickets are sold, Georgia’s streak of consecutive home sellouts will extend into a 10th season. According to associate athletic director Claude Felton, the Bulldogs have sold out every home game since Mark Richt became coach in 2001. The last UGA home game not to sell out, Felton said, was the Nov. 25, 2000, game against Georgia Tech.
The remaining tickets to Saturday’s game are available on-line (georgiadogs.com) or by phone (877-542-1231). The price is $45 apiece.
The game begins at 12:21 p.m. in Sanford Stadium.
Georgia currently has no tickets available to any other games this season.

What? You mean the great jawja dogs haven’t sold out their opener?
You do have a fan base that’s 4 x bigger than gt’s. Maybe 5. SO DUH you should sell out a 90k seat stadium when gt has 50k capacity. I understand many of you ignorants ugag types can’t figure out this simple math. I’m sure some rednecks will avoid paying their child support and scoop up the remaining tix. Enjoy your duplicate 7-5 season. Murray will have a rough one. Keep dreaming denial mutts.

Bradley G if you were expecting TECH fans to come to ATHENS to help sellout a game you are crazy. I have not been to Athens since 96. I grew tired of the Drunk A.Hole Uga fans. The Dawgs are a lil better when they come to Atlanta because the ATL Police don’t play. Wright Street Jail ain’t the nice sweet Athens-Clarke County Jail for sure. I would like all the Tech v UGA games be played at Noon every year. That way the Drunks don’t have time to get all Cranked-up.

You Dawg fans who keep repeating “30-24″ like a mantra enjoy yourselves all you want. The thing is… Tech alumni and fans have lives that don’t depend entirely on what a bunch of kids does on Saturday afternoons. College sports are fun to follow, but the biggest reason for going to college is to get an education.
UGA fans don’t seem to care about anything but football, and they don’t care if their players are enrolled in silly majors that no parents who are paying the bills would send their kids to UGA for. The very few football and basketball players who graduate have no job opportunities and end up unemployed or working in menial jobs that hardly require a college degree.
Georgia Tech is a real school with serious academic standards, and that includes scholarshipped athletes. UGA has a long history of being a party school, where parents send their kids for an easy degree, even if the degree itself is practically worthless.
Jan Kemp exposed the crap going on at UGA with athletes being enrolled in courses a ten-year-old kid could pass. That was almost three decades ago, and nothing has changed. If anything, the abuses are more blatant today. Way too many illiterate morons are being recruited, and the very high arrest rate shows clearly that Richt does not care if his players have any morals or self-discipline.
The bottom line is that most Tech fans have very good jobs and productive lives that don’t depend on Tech’s football record for their happiness in life. It would be great to beat UGA more often, but when you put scholar-athletes up against dummy-athletes, it’s usually no contest.
It’s pretty pathetic to see UGA fans who typically have never been within miles of a college classroom and who live or die with UGA’s weekly results on the football field.
So keep on posting your “30-24″ all you want, especially since you’re home with plenty of time on your hands. I wish you well, maybe you’ll get lucky and get your old job back at the Waffle House before your unemployment checks stop coming.

It’s kind of sad to see all the Dawg fans getting so excited this year (just like the year before, the year before that, etc.). How long is it going to take for UGA fans to realize that UGA is simply no longer relevant in the SEC? In the national picture, UGA isn’t even a blip on the radar, and hasn’t been since the preseason #1 ranking two years ago.
Sit back and be grateful for the seven or eight wins you’ll get every year. Coaching genius Mark Richt may take you to 8-4 or even 9-3 occasionally, but Florida will still win the SEC, meaning no BCS bowls and no top 10 final ranking. Most years, UGA will be very lucky to finish in the top 25, and only after a big bowl win over a nobody opponent.
It’s a different world now, and Dawg fans need to adjust their expectations downward to reflect reality.
Unfortunately nothing is going to change until UGA changes its mediocre coaching. That’s where the difference is, and that’s why everyone outside Dawgtard Nation just laughs at Dawg fans getting so excited year after year about what a great recruiting class UGA gets. It doesn’t matter how many blue chip high school players go to UGA, they simply don’t get the coaching they would get at Florida or Alabama, to name two schools whose programs are far ahead of UGA. And that’s not going to change as long as Mark Richt is in Athens.
Get your heads out of the sand and face reality. And mediocrity and irrelevance.

Thank you, Aron, for taking the time out of your day to enlighten us. Oh, but why do you care? And I guess that most GT football players chose Tech JUST so they could take calculus? Most GT football players would be UGA football players if given the choice. Most of the players at either school could not really care less about an education. They just want to play ball. The reality is a college undergraduate degree is overrated.

The Notre Dame fans were the nicest when we were there last. One fan gave Dad & I a guided tour around the campus. He just wanted us to enjoy the game and gain an appreication for a school he truly loved. I have never had a UGA fan do anything more that woof at other schools fans and cus infront of children while being stinking drunk. UGA fans love their school so much they leave 70 tons of trash after a game. UGAfans like to hunt and have many environmental friendly degrees, but the fans don’t understand Pack It In Pack It Out. If you have enough room to bring all the trash to tailgate then you have the room to take the trash to your own home. UGA doesn’t need to give you more garbage cans.

Jarvis Tech grads give more money to the Academic side of TECH than fans give to the Atheletic side of TECH. See, Tech people know the world is a better place with smart people working in a real job than giving money to GTAA. You have seen the NCAA commercial that shows Athletes playing a sport and doing some educational feat too. The catchphrase is “I will be going Pro in something besides sports”. UGA fans & players can’t seen to understand 97% of college athletes will not make a dollar playing a professional sport. That is exactally why UGA will not suspend players except for games against the High School teams on your schedule. I used to love to visit UGA when I was in college and for a few years after. The Bulldog girls are great. They like to stick that thing up in the air and bite on that pillow like a bulldoog on a bone. the best part was the roommate never said a word because she was chocking on a pillow in the next bed too. We Run this State
August 30th, 2010
1:12 pm
25 Governors of this State have been University of Georgia graduates. Aron, when we say “We Run this State”, that’s what we mean. Oh, and current Governor Purdue actually played football at Georgia. In all fairness, Jimmy Carter and Zell Miller (among others) are Georgia Tech alums.
Specifically regarding the student athletes, the Georgia football team’s Academic Progress Rate released August 2010 was 967 (2nd in SEC behind Vandy). In the ACC, Georgia would have ranked ahead of Wake, NC, NC State, Va Tech, and Maryland. Tech football topped both ACC & SEC with a score of 982. Since this is “coach specific” rating that was being cited (AJC article), I do want to see how PJ going foward as he basically inherited this APR.
Basketball, however, is another story. There Tech’s APR is 927 and is next to last ahead of only Maryland. Georgia’s APR in basketball is 944 and ranks 5th. On the flip side of this, (as GaTech’s PJ) Mark Fox gets credit where he had nothing to do with the results so we can wait and see if he can keep his players eligible and graduating on time.
And as far as degrees go, you’re not going to get a lot of arguement from me that an engineering degree from Tech is highly desirable. I only question how many Tech athletes actually major in an engineering field, because industrial management doesn’t sound like an engineering degree to me.
Look, here’s the thing. I think a lot of Tech’s history and the current coach. The team is pretty good. Two years ago, your team won in Athens in a shootout. For about 12 months, I had to read on the AJC that UGa stinks and Tech is great. 45-42. Right, remember that? St. Simon’s crowing about Tech’s first win this millenia? Now, all I get is “Academics blah, blah, blah”, or “Tech won the ACC”, or “Georgia played in Shreveport”, or “We don’t care about beating Georgia.” Right. So, yeah, 30-24.

Funny how all the tech fans are blogging on a page about UGA selling tickets to its opening game about how they don’t care about football.
“”Yes, I want to beat UGA every year, but Tech has not done that nearly enough for sure. If Tech loses to UGA I am mad for about 24 hours then I move on.”" Really, you moved on? You are writing about it on a story about Georgia selling tickets? You not only read the dumb article but you had to comment on it. I supposed you do not remember reading any of the Georgia blogs last year before the Tech game. Don’t act like you don’t care. If you didn’t you wouldn’t read and respond to this crap. I will say you are a little right. Most Tech students don’t care about football. They will be a dragoncon this weekend and not at the home opener. Or they prefer cricket because they are not from this country. Tech is a great school with great students and decent football. Georgia kids go to athens to get a good education, with a decent party, and some excellent SEC football. It amazes me how much you AJC blogging Tech fans hate UGA so much and act like you care so little. I am sorry but Saturday at Tech campus just doesn’t come close to Athens.

Since we’re still in the off-season, wouldn’t this be the perfect time to take an in-depth look at UGA and have a serious discussion about the problems at UGA and why the arrest rate of players is the highest in the country? It’s common knowledge that UGA is a party school, but have any dawgtard players every actually graduated with a real degree? Jan Kemp exposed the school and the coaches almost three decades ago, but there is no sign that anything has improved; if anything, the arrest rate shows that things are getting more outrageous every year while the clueless Mark Richt has absolutely no control over his players. And then there is the infamous “red panties” incident that will haunt UGA for decades.
And let’s not forget the shameful Fulmer Cup, which will be renamed the Richt Cup after this season.
UGA has become a major embarrassment to all Georgians, and we want some answers starting now.

Let’s face it—-who in their right mind would spend $60 to see Louisiana-Lafayette?? Due to all the game-day traffic/activities in Athens the game will be over before you’re a$$ hits the seat. Same will be the case when Idaho State comes to town. What a lame schedule. At the very least they could have scheduled Tulane or U of Idaho.
If UGA is going to play the cupcakes then at least make it interesting for the fans. Why not add Ga. State. A game in the Ga. Dome would essentially be another home game for UGA.
Time for UGA to step outside the box and beef-up the OOC schedule. Sorry but lame Louisville (and other C-USA conf. schools) doesn’t count. How about scheduling Big 10 or Big 12 (better known as U of Texas and the 9 others Conference).

Traditionally, Tenn and Ala have had the best SEC OOC schedules.
Although, with D. Dooley turning down USC and backing out of the upcoming series with UNC it looks like Bama is now going to be the only SEC school with the cojones to play a top OCC schedule (teams such as Penn State, etc.)
Time for UGA, UF & and now UT to stop scheduling these pansy-a$$ OCC games.

Ed: So UGA opens with a weak D-1 school (Sun Belt Conference). But Tech opens with SC State, a 1-AA school. Why in the world Tech doesn’t play Georgia Southern is a mystery to me. It’s an in state school, which would help sell a lot of tickets. And there are natural ties with Johnson having won two national titles there and the new head coach was on Johnson’s staff.
But being the sissies the YELLOW Jackets are, they continue to play other 1-AA schools like Furman, Jacksonville State and the Citadel.
For those Tech fans who don’t know sports history, Georgia has played Georgia Southern four times since the Eagles reestablished football, so don’t go preaching about the Dawgs not playing their in state rivals.

For whoever said it — the Big Ten won’t schedule us (I know since Dooley’s last year no Big Ten team has beaten us in a bowl game — that includes Michigan State x 2, Ohio State, Wisconsin x 2, Purdue x 2). We have scheduled Big 12 teams that will play us (Colorado & OSU). This is the first time in a long time UGA has played “let’s open up against a creampuff”. Outside of Bama and TN scheduling tough openers — I didn’t see anyone else opening up against Boise State and OSU. As far as mid-season out of conference schedule also — Georgia’s has been as tough as any playing schools like Central Michigan, Troy State, Marshall, etc., all of which have won their conference championships and can surprise anyone. UGA also plays GA Southern every four years (an in-state team that plays for the upset with everything they have) and still works in traditional rival Clemson when they can. So far, GA Tech has been too nervous about scheduling GA Southern even though GSU could have really used the revenue. Someone mentioned playing Tulane — they bought their way out of the contract we had with them. So, this is the first season with some breathing room that UGA has had in a long time. Florida has been taking a breather every year.

How about a “Tech continues to fail to sell out it’s 55,000 seat stadium, game after game, year after year.” UGA sells out every game for years and will sell out the first game this year too. You’re right about the AJC… anything negative about UGA and they pounce. I guess there’s NOTHING to say about Tech though… they’re kind of nonexistant.

How much would Ga. Southern have to pay Ga. Tech
to come play them in STatesboro? Tech would be
guaranteed a sell out.

georgiadogs.com now states that the game is sold out. Big surprise. How long do you think that the AJC will take to report that?
