Bulldogs nearing sellout of opener

Inching toward its 58th consecutive home sellout, Georgia has fewer than 200 tickets remaining for Saturday’s football opener against Louisiana-Lafayette, associate athletic director Alan Thomas said this morning.

A large block of tickets became available to the opener when Louisiana-Lafayette relinquished most of its allotment. The Ragin’ Cajuns were contractually entitled to 4,500 tickets but wound up selling 490, Thomas said last week. That left UGA with the other 4,010 to sell.

If the remaining tickets are sold, Georgia’s streak of consecutive home sellouts will extend into a 10th season. According to associate athletic director Claude Felton, the Bulldogs have sold out every home game since Mark Richt became coach in 2001. The last UGA home game not to sell out, Felton said, was the Nov. 25, 2000, game against Georgia Tech.

The remaining tickets to Saturday’s game are available on-line (georgiadogs.com) or by phone (877-542-1231). The price is $45 apiece.

The game begins at 12:21 p.m. in Sanford Stadium.

Georgia currently has no tickets available to any other games this season.

When the other team returns over 4K in tix, I sort of understand. But did they not pay for them? Much like in a bowl, teams must buy a certain amount of tickets.

This is directed at the GT fans on this blog…go to the GT website, you can buy books of 10 tickets all over the stadium to see your Jackets play this Saturday. Only 165 bucks for all 10. Why not do that instead of coming on here and acting like a NERD?

And Chandler Anderson, the punter is Biology. The only History, Science and Technology is Mario Edwards, a VT transfer. These are based on the info from the 2009 player bios. They haven’t been updated for 2010. The FR and SO don’t declare majors, so there are no pre-this and that.

They match up pretty well with Georgia’ s front-liners. Clint Boling is Mgt. Information Systems (heavy computer stuff; I’ve got a degree in it); Kris Durham, Middle School Education (he did his practice teaching this Spring, so it’s for real); and Fred Munzenmaier, Finance (very technical field).

Old Dawg – Georgia Tech has Georgia Southern on the schedule, 2015. The MTSU games are 2 here, 1 in Murfreesboro. Got to fit them in where you can. I’d like to see an Oregon State and Pitt instead of Elon and Wofford, though.

Why do you always quote Alan Thomas about UGA Athletic Tickets? He’s not the Tickets Manager; Tim Cearley has held that role for several years.

UGA may be sold out of tickets but USC is not. Tickets are available for all South Carolina home games (including the game vs UGA) at http://www.uscsports.com.

GT might be a very well respected research university, but it’s still the largest gathering of NERDS in any one place in the world. I bet they could set a world record for the number of “ZITS” at one of their pitiful games.

For whoever said it — the Big Ten won’t schedule us (I know since Dooley’s last year no Big Ten team has beaten us in a bowl game — that includes Michigan State x 2, Ohio State, Wisconsin x 2, Purdue x 2). We have scheduled Big 12 teams that will play us (Colorado & OSU). This is the first time in a long time UGA has played “let’s open up against a creampuff”. Outside of Bama and TN scheduling tough openers — I didn’t see anyone else opening up against Boise State and OSU. As far as mid-season out of conference schedule also — Georgia’s has been as tough as any playing schools like Central Michigan, Troy State, Marshall, etc., all of which have won their conference championships and can surprise anyone. UGA also plays GA Southern every four years (an in-state team that plays for the upset with everything they have) and still works in traditional rival Clemson when they can. So far, GA Tech has been too nervous about scheduling GA Southern even though GSU could have really used the revenue. Someone mentioned playing Tulane — they bought their way out of the contract we had with them. So, this is the first season with some breathing room that UGA has had in a long time. Florida has been taking a breather every year.

What’s pathetic is Techies on here saying how they are more worried about other stuff in life and how football is not that important…………….well guess what????? This is a FOOTBALL article/blog. So why are you on here spouting off??? Sounds to me like ya’ll are jealous since ya’ll are so intellectually superior that you cant figure out how to beat us on the field. It’s funny how I come here to read about UGA football and read through more Tech junk about how football isn’t important than anything to do with football. And we are the losers?

GA. can take those tickets and SHOVE them where the sun don’t shine. They only sell season tickets if you buy this, donate that, are this are that. To hell with them. The whole thing is just a dam rip off. The higher the ticket prices they more millions the coaches make!! There is no stop to it!!

Tech NEVER sells out a game unless it’s because of the other team’s fans. So ED, instead of running your Nerd mouth, why don’t you go buy a ticket to support your nerdy team? God knows they need all the “fans” they can get! Don’t worry, UGA will sell out this game as they have every game for the last decade… unlike your geeks. Try not to be so jealous! I know it sucks to continually be beaten by the Dawgs, but you should be used to it by now.

DawgDude, I couldn’t agree more! First, the AJC publishes a story hours after LATech gives back 4100 of their 4500 ticket allotment, along with a “UGA hasn’t sold out first game!” headline. How about a “Tech continues to fail to sell out it’s 55,000 seat stadium, game after game, year after year.” UGA sells out every game for years and will sell out the first game this year too. You’re right about the AJC… anything negative about UGA and they pounce. I guess there’s NOTHING to say about Tech though… they’re kind of nonexistant.

How much would Ga. Southern have to pay Ga. Tech
to come play them in STatesboro? Tech would be
guaranteed a sell out.

georgiadogs.com now states that the game is sold out. Big surprise. How long do you think that the AJC will take to report that?
