A change on Georgia’s depth chart at safety

ATHENS – Amend that depth chart Georgia released Monday afternoon.

The depth chart has Bacarri Rambo and Nick Williams starting at the safeties, but coach Mark Richt said after practice Monday night that “right now it would be Bacarri and Jakar [Hamilton]” starting in Saturday’s opener against Louisiana-Lafayette.

“Nick will certainly play,” too, Richt said.

Richt confirmed one mild surprise on the depth chart, which has Brandon Wood starting on the defensive line at left end, ahead of Abry Jones. But the D-line remains in flux except for right end Demarcus Dobbs.

“Depends on what day it is, I guess,” Richt said.

But as of today, he said, the starters are DeAngelo Tyson at nose, Dobbs at right end and Wood at left end. Tyson, though, also is expected to play some at left end, with Justin Anderson or Kwame Geathers taking over at nose.

A couple other notes from Monday’s practice:

– Wide receiver Rantavious Wooten, who has been sidelined most of the preseason with a sprained knee, practiced in a green non-contact jersey and “got a lot of work in,” Richt said. “We think he’ll play” Saturday.

– The starting offensive line was intact. Richt said center Ben Jones bounced back remarkably quickly from arthroscopic knee surgery, but left guard Cordy Glenn “is still kind of fatigued, not in the condition he was in” before a bout with mono.

And here’s Georgia’s latest depth chart (adjusted at the safeties):

As much as I HATE these comment sections, I just want to chime in real quick (before it hits the fanlike always), that I am SO SO SO excited for this season to kick off. What a great time of year. Sure, there are a lot of questions about this team, and I for one cannot wait to see them answered!!

Love the offense. Right end and outside backer scare me a little. Still not a huge Vance Cuff fan. Like this lineup, though. If AM comes through, this could be a very good year.

Studivant, Glenn, Burnette, Anderson, and Davis and you could have won it all . Uga and their archaic attitude is really, truly disgusting. ROLL TIDE. You think James Carpenter and Chance Warmack aren’t happy about not going to Athens. Carpenter would be behind Boling, and Warmack would line up behind Chris Davis. At Bama they’re starters and make up the best left side in college ball. Thank you Coaches Richt, Bobo and Searles. Keep them georgia boys coming. Good luck in the red zone dogs. Oh yeah, Auburn appreciates Atlanta’s Cam Newton. Unbelievable.

Not good to hear that Cordy Glenn, one of our best offensive linemen hasn’t gained his full strength back. Hopefully he can get it together before Saturday. Good to hear that our O-line is intact and that we can have them playing together and pushing people around at will. This will be a good game for Murray to gain confidence and also for our defense to gain a bit of confidence because heading into a hostile environment in Columbia will not be easy.

Tide Roll is another toothless trailer park living inbred that has infested our state.

I am concerned from the dpeth chart about our QB depth (which we have known for a long time is bad) and the TB depth. Besides Ealy and King there isn’t any.

The QB depth chart is what it is, hopefully we will be ok…the TB depth chart is a little scary…we need a big time back in this recruiting class…i know Ken Malcome is there, but we really need a Crowell or the kid for New Jersey…I haven’t heard where we stand with Savon Huggins, he is going to be a good one and can fly….He does have the dawgs at last count high on the list, but haven’t seen any info on him lately…And “Tide Roll, how tdeid the great Saban miss out on Newton…I mean wow, he could have been your man…You sir are a piece of work, i almost feel sorry for you “meek” little man…

Tide Roll:

What is unbelievable that you think that Cam would have been admitted to UGA after the theft issue. Players at UGA get suspended for drinking alcohol even ones that are over 21 like starting TE Trippe Chandler was a few years ago. If you think that Cam would have been admitted at UGA you are not looking at the history of the last 8-10 years.

I noticed you haven’t commented on Alabama spelling Mississippi incorrectly on the tickets for this year’s game. Unbelievable, not only is it the state right next door, but a team you play EVERY YEAR!

superDawg, PLEASE take an online English class or something. Do you know what is wrong with your statement, “tide troll you can say whatever you won’t to…”? I respect and have MANY friends that graduated from UGA and I’m confident that they cringe when one of their own fans posts as poorly as you do…just trying to be a true friend. It’s a tough love kind of thing!

This UGA defense is starting to look like the ‘D’ that Dawg fans are used to… Here’s to a GREAT season for UGA and Tech! May the best team win in November!

Vote for roy barns. he is built like UGA V II and he is a uga grad. how could the state go wrong with 12 years of mutts in the governors mansion? roy hated education and crapped on the teachers 8 years ago. Sounds just like the great flagship school grad we need again. uga then had sonny in the house for 8 years of a fool fisherman that just bought him more land. boy we need roy so bad right now. georgia might lose the race to the worst educational system in the US if we don’t vote for roy. uga might might not be voted the #1 party school if roy doesn’t get elected. somebody might come in and fix the board of regents and make leeburn with his alcohol money get the hell out of the gaa and holding adams hand.

GT51………If the shoe was on the other foot, that is, if Tech had beaten us 8 out of the last 9 years, I don’t think I would make a fool of myself wondering who the Dlineman was that had just shut my team down the year before. But then again, I’m not you [and greatful for it]………….Regards, RED

A few days ago I made a comment that I estimated a scholarship for a UGA football player was worth at least 50K . I would like to revise that estimate for the linemen to at least 75K . The cost to feed these guy must be unreal. Also, I didn’t think Murray would have any trouble see over the line, now I’m not so sure after realizing the size and height of these guys.

Man do we have some tall receivers or what… there is no excuse for the offense not to put alot of yards and points up. The defense only has to be better and we are going to win over 10 games and there is no doubt about that….GO DAWGS!!

GT51…..our team is full of ignorant, has-been, wannabee, undisciplined, unfocused, no drivers license havin drunken thugs……..and you STILL get your a$$ beat by them 8 out of 9. Why in the f%$k are you still on here runnin your mouth little man? Does getting beaten that many times cause some sort of strange brainwave function? Most fans would just STFU and talk sh!t when you’ve actually WON a few games…….but not you smart guy. Some (notice I said some) of you genius tech people are so caught up in your own little microcosm of superiority that you think you’ve won the game even if the scoreboard says differently. You’re only making yourself look stupid. Now go turn on Baywatch and dream about something other than circuit boards.

Greg McGarity said: “I’m going to learn about our structure, what we have set up as far as education of student-athletes. I want to learn exactly, why is this happening? Yeah, I think there are too many. I think when it happens, it’s embarrassing to the institution [and] it takes away from team unity. . . . I think it’s a problem, and I don’t like the excuse, ‘Well, that’s going to happen [with] college students; it’s just part of the deal.’ I don’t buy that.”

“What is unbelievable that you think that Cam would have been admitted to UGA after the theft issue.”

And, you sir think there is ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUE about Christian LeMay when his offense is EXACTLY PRECISELY the same as Michael Grant; neither played their senior year; both sex in a classroom; both Coach Richt was steadfast with his offer to them BOTH ANYWAY; when our UGA’s Faculty Admissions Committee says “Our goal is to build a first-year class who have demonstrated high levels of maturity and personal integrity”

Funny how you apply the rules at UGA to student-athletes NOT ON OUR RECRUIT ROSTER, HAVING NOT BEEN OFFERED A SCHOLARSHIP, but NOT to those who ARE I-DOG.

Josh Nesbitt, quarterback of a team ranked # 116 Pass Offense

# 116 Passing Offense Georgia tek

# 75 Total Offense Josh Nesbitt

Played 3 years and this is his 4th year and last now 2010

36 games Josh Nesbitt has played.

11 of the 13 Losses by Georgia tek the last 3 years Josh Nesbitt played.

Josh Nesbitt is 1 inch taller than Aaron Murray, and 18 lbs heavier.

4 yards per carry rushing the football.

Oh, that is just awesome.

12 Interceptions and only 13 TD thrown in 36 games he has played.

Josh Nesbitt throws one TD pass every 3 games.

For God’s sake.

44 percent of his passes are thrown for a completion.

134 completed out of 298 passes in 36 games played.

3 passes per game are actually completed by Josh Nesbitt.

My God.

72 yards passing per game.

But, don’t forget he gets 4 yards per running play.

Because Georgia tek has NEVER HAD A HEISMAN TROPHY, he is being touted by Georgia tek for Heisman today.

Ben Jones, Outland and Rimington Trophy nominee. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Alabama. Coach Searles and Coach Richt thank you. Keep’em coming. Along with Boling, Glenn, the Davis boys, Ben makes up the best OL in college football.

What were Saban and Kirby Smart thinking?

Cam Newton is now at Auburn. Auburn thanks Coach Saban and Coach Smart for letting this talent get away. Bama will wish they had him in the Red Zone. Instead they will be making do with Greg McElroy.

Mal Moore ought to look into this, but he is too much in Saban’s hip pocket to criticize him for these recruiting lapses, not to mention not signing every D-1 offensive lineman in the state of Alabama.

Roll Dawgs!

Altamahawdawg 7:18 a.m. yesterday makes his prediction :

“UGA doesn’t win the East, I will still have had fun with my family and friends at the games.”

RED DOG 77 ? Where is your prediction how much GD fun you are going to have not going to the SEC Championship Game for the 5th Consecutive Year, which is NOT my prediction at 12-2, now is it ?

Left off the little if, didn’t you

If we lose to South Carolina UNRANKED in Game 2, Coach Richt would then have a LOSING RECORD vs SEC East the last then 5 years.
