Will Georgia sellout streak extend into 10th season? (Updated)

(Updated 6 p.m.)

ATHENS – Georgia, which has sold out every home football game the past nine seasons, needs to sell a few hundred more tickets to keep that streak alive next week.

Less than 600 tickets remained available Wednesday for the Bulldogs’ Sept. 4 season opener at Sanford Stadium against Louisiana-Lafayette, UGA associate athletic director Alan Thomas said.

He said those tickets are part of a large block returned by Louisiana-Lafayette, which was contractually entitled to 4,500 tickets for the game. The Ragin’ Cajuns wound up needing only 490 tickets, Thomas said.

Georgia has no tickets currently available to any of its other five home games, and Thomas said he expects the remaining tickets to the Louisiana-Lafayette game to be sold. They are available on-line at georgiadogs.com or by phone at 877-542-1231.  The price is $45 apiece.

If the game sells out, that would extend Georgia’s streak of consecutive home sellouts into a 10th season. According to associate athletic director Claude Felton, the Bulldogs have sold out every home game since Mark Richt became coach in 2001 — a streak of 57 consecutive games. The last UGA home game not to sell out, Felton said, was the Nov. 25, 2000, game against Georgia Tech.

Generally, opponents can return unsold tickets from their allotments as late as three weeks before a game. Louisiana-Lafayette’s contract called for the school to receive an allotment of 4,500 tickets to sell, but the Ragin’ Cajuns took only 2,095 of  the allotted tickets initially, leaving Georgia with the other 2,405. Then Louisiana-Lafayette returned an additional 1,605 tickets prior to the three-week window allowed in the contract, Thomas said.

When opponents return tickets, Georgia puts them on sale to the general public. It’s possible there will be returns from other opponents this season; Idaho State (Nov. 6) would seem the most likely candidate. But Idaho State’s contract calls for an allotment of 2,500 tickets and so far none have been returned, Thomas said.

What a contrast…….

Georgia has 600 unsold seats to it’s home opener (out of 92.7k), which will surely be sold by gametime.

vs.

Georgia Tech, which has ONLY SOLD 600 tickets TOTAL to it’s home opener

You see a guy on the street with a Tech shirt on, he went to Tech. You see a guy with a UGA shirt on, he went to Wal-Mart. The rest of the state needs a bandwagon team to root for between dips, so THAT’s why you sell your tickets out. I’ll bet you Tech has more alumni as season ticket holders than UGA-

I knew Tech people knew nothing about football, but I thought they knew math a little. Tech’s stadium holds appox. 38,000 fewer than UGA. Trek also has about 20,000 less students than UGA. A good portion of Trek’s students/grads don’t know football from table tennis. That place is supposed to have more Alums as season ticket holders? REALLY????

Next thing you know they’ll be claiming pretty women who speak English are now on campus. Nah, to much of a reach.

This is an argument Tech won’t win. They have serious budget restraints at Tech and selling those last 5-10K seats would be huge x 6 home games. At $8.00 per, that’s up to $80,000 per game. That money could be used to buy out Hewitt’s life time deal.

GT Alum

August 25th, 2010

I guess what should be said is that for the Georgia Tech fan/alumni, we know that life doesn’t revolve around college football. We know that running a good business, being CEOs, Directors of the Smithosonian (G. Wayne. Clough) and being successful in a world market are more important than sitting in the stands watching football. While we are busying thinking “How can I change the world today” the Average UGA Fan (which, by the way, has zero association with UGA whatsoever) is thinking where is my NASCAR and Busch Lite. Georgia Tech is one of the most, if not the top, heavily endowed school, because its graduates are successful and donate a tremendous amount of money.

Alumni of both UGA and Tech are both fine, and both school are good, but UGA’s problem is that of their 92,700 seats that sell, only 25% of them actually attended UGA, and only 5% work at UGA. The remaining 70% are the standard non-college attending drunken yokel who can barely spell UGA. There is a reason it is consistently voted the “worst fans in college football” by ESPN. So while you are sitting in your stands watching the Bulldog Nation chomp through Middle Louisiana School for the Crippled and Blind, look around you at the company you will be keeping. Yeah, JimBoB and Cletus both make some excellent fries at MickieD’s, you will never amount to more than to be a associate whipping boy of a selection of idiots who celebrate mediocrity and worship American Idol.

And to those of you who actually have some official connection to the school, I salute you, as I grew up in Athens, (Cedar Shoal High School, Hilsman Middle School, Gaines Elementary) and both parents worked at UGA for over 30 years. Just be careful the company you keep.

But you don’t have to go far (like their rival’s blog) to see that Tech fans/students/alum take the approach that they are far superior, and insist that anybody that didnt go to Tech is a failure at life. - Tennessee is down, so that game doesn’t mean much

While Georgia has been playing OSU, Boise State, Central Michigan, Marshall, Troy State, etc. — who has Florida played? All of the schools I mentioned have been their conference champs and can jump up and surprise a team. And don’t give me the Florida State crap — that’s no better than us playing GA Tech every year. At GA TECH Alum…

Once again we hear the same old tire excuses for why Tech can’t sell out their stadium.

1. We are too busy working.
2. We don’t have non-alumni in the stands.

The myth that 70% of UGA fans in the stands have no connection with the school is complete non-sense. Consider that roughly 82,000 tickets are reserved for Georgia fans (remaining goes to visitors) and 15,000 student tickets are sold each year. This means that nearly 20% of the available seats are occupied by students who ATTEND the university.

To suggest that only 30% of the stadium has a connection to the university and the rest are a bunch of uncultured rednecks is a sad attempt to deflect the fact that your fan base just doesn’t get excited about the product Tech puts on the field.

To top it off you go and insult our level of competition. I must assume you are the typical uninformed GA Tech fan who doesn’t realize you start your season with the power house SOUTH CAROLINA STATE. Now there is a competitive match up that should make Tech alums across the country glow with pride.

To top it off you go and insult our level of competition. I must assume you are the typical uninformed GA Tech fan who doesn’t realize you start your season with the power house SOUTH CAROLINA STATE. Now there is a competitive match up that should make Tech alums across the country glow with pride.”

I would be willing to place money against that.

WOW! GT ALUM is awfully full of himself, and somehow has the statistics showing the percentage breakdowns of UGA Alums that actually attend games at Sanford Stadium. What an angry, arrogant and stupid individual. While I completely disagree with his view of the make-up of folks who attend Georgia home football games (when I go, I see mostly well-to-do people, lots of happy children, and LOTS of hot women), he seems to think that folks without a PHD are not good company at a football game. GT Alum thinks an awful lot of himself, and doesn’t too much care about the folks that make this country great, and who manufactured his socks, shoes and underwear. By the way, pretty much all the doctors, lawyers, politicians, and other successful people that I know in this state went to UGA, not Tech. What a bitter fool. I guess he still believes that all of Tech’s football players will work for NASA one day too. Keep dreamin brother, and don’t be so bitter.

People would be falling out from heat exhaustion. They should take in to consideration people’s health. Older people can’t take the heat. But they are scared people will get drunk and be roudy and tare stuff up. That is their God giving right as an American to get drunk and sloppy before a game. Ive seen and experienced both as well JB, it doesnt really change the point. Football is a very important part of UGA, maybe the most important part of UGA. That is not the case with GT students or the school in general. Its basically the same as the Green Bay Packers ragging the Atlanta Falcons about attendance. HA HA HA – I love it when people call tech Grads elitist. Why shouldn’t we be? One of the Best SCHOOLS in the country, one of the SCHOOLS in the world. College isn’t about football. Football is just something to help pay for the upkeep of the college.

Yes – I am elitist. Yes – I am smarter than most people. Yes – I work hard. Yes – Jimmy Carter did indeed graduate from tech… and while I may think his policies are bad, or his actions, he was still the LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD for his term in office. Yes – I may be a complete nerd because I like science and learning and reading up on technical stuff. Yes – I like continuing my education constantly.

You people have your priorities highly skewed. Think about what you are saying. Tech football is a great thing, we don’t necessarily win, occasionally we win a championship (which at last count, we were still ahead of UGA), but that doesn’t matter to most tech grads, because we love college and go on to bigger, grander things. UGA is still a good school, it was just based around agricultural facilities. Which is also why you can afford a much larger stadium, it was purchased out of pasture/farmland. Atlanta is a metropolis. We have the busiest airport in the world. More fortune 500 companies headquartered there than anywhere. We don’t need the football stadium to bring in the money. We have Georgia Tech Research Institute which brings in millions, per month. We have more patents through the school than almost any other educational organization in the world. They bring in our money. We have the top researchers in many categories. They bring in money. While football may be great to watch, and fun to sit in the stadiums at, it isn’t our college lifeblood. Intelligence and research and Engineering bring the money to tech, so we don’t have to subsidize our efforts with sports, we just enjoy doing it.

I would also think that since, in the last ten years, UGA football has contributed about 1/100th of the money that GT’s research grants and endowments have contributed to the University System of GA, that you would be commending us for taking over an arena that UGA alone would never be able to handle. But that would mean thinking outside of your precious hedges, and seeing the rest of the world.

Hey, Gator Man (oxymoron, right?), look up Penn State’s schedule? Open with Younstown State, then try to trip up Alabama, and then tough games with Kent State, and Temple. After first four games, they trudge through the heart of the Big 10, with Iowa, Ill, MI, MN, NW, and finally, Ohio State. JoePa has to win 6 out of 10 and should be no less than 8 out of 10 (sorry, Alabama and Ohio State clean their clock). Strength of schedule will not be awarded in Happy Valley!

@JB – Reference Paul Johnson’s response of distance from athens. I am assuming (dangerous, I know) that you live in relative proximity of Athens, maybe even Atlanta. I live in West Atlanta, and I see first hand what yokels out this way do and think, all in the name of the sacred UGA football. so, broad brush, possibly, doesn’t necessarily make it incorrect. Just not truly appropriate for your ticket block.

Also, as I mentioned in my first message, with parents working for long periods at UGA, They made public (to various department heads) how many tickets were being discount sold to very rural communities (via the Extension Service) to provide contact to humanity. Many years there were a large percentage of the stadium’s capacity being offered to areas with no connection to the school. This practice, combined with other extension service options, and agricultural projects through UGA instilled some … I don’t know… reliance? (searching for a better word here) for these rural Georgians through the ‘ag’ services offered by the school. Those people, and their children are generally the ones who give the desired fan (you and those in your ticket block, by your description) a bad name.

Stereotyping is unfair to some, but always based in truth.

The ballgame is not a sellout because it is not an attractive opponent, it will serve as little more than practice for the Bulldogs, it will likely be hot and humid in the ballyard and the game will kickoff at noon.

I have been a season ticket holder for more than 30 years and rarely attend summer games against teams that are scheduled for practice. When teams like Oklahoma State, Boise State, Arizona State and Colorado come to Athens, even in the late summer heat and humidity, I am there. When teams like Western Carolina, Kent State, and this year’s opening practice team, I don’t attend and often cannot even give away my tickets.

Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium/Grant Field reduced it’s seating capacity from its high of 58,121 down to 46,000, making it the only school in the nation to reduce the size of their stadium. Tech did this to make room for a new “multi-purpose facility”.

The largest crowd in the stadium’s current configuration was 46,450 fans for the Georgia Tech-Georgia game on Nov. 27, 1999. The crowd was comprised of mostly red-clad Georgia fans as was seen in the now infamous arial photo taken on the day of the game.

I wouldnt count on that Paul Johnson. Look at Michigan. They have been awful lately and still lead the country in attendance, well above UGA. There arent any signs of them slowing down either. The quality of a team is not necessarily related to the attendance at their games. If UGA turns into Vandy (football wise) they are still going to sell alot of tickets. Going to games is a way of life for UGA students/alumni. The game itself is pretty irrelevant.

The largest crowd in the stadium’s current configuration was 46,450 fans for the Georgia Tech-Georgia game on Nov. 27, 1999. The crowd was comprised of mostly red-clad Georgia fans as was seen in the now infamous arial photo taken on the day of the game.”
It has since then been raised back to 55,000… The All time record under the current configuration is actually 56,680. The season opener vs Notre Dame. The largest of which was the 60,316 spectators for the Georgia game in 1973. No barking allowed unless it’s the correct information.

You got that right! Seeing the ladies in attendance on gameday in Athens is like being at a Miss America pageant but COMBINED WITH FOOTBALL! If these are the non-graduate rednecks GT Alum is spouting about, I’ll take their company over his.

What nonsense is GT Alum spouting about tens of thousands of tickets being given away to rural farmers? Does he know how much $ that would cost if it were actually true? I’m sure that a few hundred tickets are donated to 4H clubs or boy scouts or some other organizations, but
Giving away a large percentage of tickets to rural Georgia folks with no human contact? That is about as accurate as the rest of his information.

@Ralph – Normally, I wouldn’t have posted anything. However, it took all of, or lets see, 2 thread posts for someone to start insulting Tech from an article only related to GA tickets. So it isn’t me who jumped in an uninvited, it was an invitation from someone who started Bashing tech people for no reason whatsoever.

@Buck – Aside from your military friend, there is one thing that stands out among the people you listed… All college educated. The military friend is a different kind of person that I will most likely never be able to live up to, and most people I know consider the military to exceed (note, I did not say equivalent to, but exceed) the dedication and drive needed for higher education. And from what I have seen, people with successful military careers are far more educated and driven than those without. My point is the drunken yokel who overshadows you is stereotypically not college bound, and not college educated.

@Can You Dig It – You spelled “amases” wrong. Now I am not saying all UGA fans are a bunch of idiots, and I am not insulting any graduate or someone with a valid connection to the school. So calling me in particular an idiot isn’t a direct retort of any useful kind. You can also refer to the second post on this threat, which drags tech into this post.

@I-DOG – I didn’t say give away, I said sold at discount prices. I suggest you check the history on the UGA arm of the extension service. Every school does donations at some level – clubs, boy/girl scouts, etc… This was a service to the poor and rural to try to bring them more goods and services. Like Taliaferro county, GA, one of the poorest and underdeveloped in the country. UGA Extension service, Ag Service, etc… has historically tried to offer anything they could to those. And with a huge stadium, almost twice the size of tech, it seems they had room to offer something there to. I don’t think they do anything larger than simple club donations anymore, but it started with other things decades ago.

Bad news, dawgies. There is no relationship between size of the crowd and the quality of your football team. Take a look at all of those teams ranked ahead of you in the polls (such as TCU, Boise State, GT, VT,FL, ARK, et al). They all have smaller crowds. Those of you who are so impressed with your crowd size are just like the nothing little guys who buy a “hot car”….the car is a substitute for your lack of real manhood. Watching Georgia play high schools in September every year for high dollars just gets older and older every year. And with the lack of good coaching it gets even worse. Why are playing so many early Sept games, because we are so low on the totem pole. The good teams play late afternoon and evening games. It surprises me this year how many fans accept that it would be good if we split with South Carolina and Arkansas. How did out expectations get so low. This footbal team has a top 5 jouniot and sophmore class in it, yet GT, who never has top recruiting is ranked above us. The difference, the team with better head coach. Georgia needs a football coach that is 100% effort. Many think we could lose to Tenn, if we do, Richt should immediately quit. It time to have expectations again no excuses.

Not sure how true this is, maybe someone can provide some useful insight. Maybe the conferences that never produce undefeated (or rarely produce) are just so evenly balanced that every game is a real match-up. If you have undefeated teams every year out of the same conference, it would seem that the conference is overall a weak one, and there is just one dominant school and a bunch of other really weak ones. This would be more widespread than just ACC/SEC – anyone know if this is valid?

What a deceptive headline!!!!!

So the visitors return tickets (all great seats for a nice late afternoon in the cool autumn air no doubt) and as of yet they have not just turned hands and all over a sudden UGA can’t “sell out”. Will there be a headline when that surely does happen that says something equaly as sensational????

Truth be told, hasn’t this game has already sold out once, a long time ago, from the UGA standpoint as it had no more tickets to sell at the time.

Or is the bitter truth that the state of affair in Athens has finally caught up and now cost us 600 fans.

However, here are some truly interesting questions:
1. What size bra does “Manboobs” Paul Johnson wear?
2. How many gravy biscuits does Ralph Friedgen eat in one seating?
3. Why do Tech fans think that their defense will improve under Al Groh with their weak defensive line and Groh’s lack of success at UVA?
4. How much pole has St. Simons smoked this summer?
5. Did the infamous “m” finally die of HIV or just crawl back under the rock from which he came?

@Papadawg Probably not. In general we are all fans, some diehard, some more apathetic. We always enjoy watching, but it doesn’t dictate our moods. @ Big Pete – I am inclined to agree with this. Although this was a definitely different when Tech won three in a row, it was huge on both sides of the line, but as UGA has slowly fallen off its own coattails (reference earlier comments about being the Ray Goff era all over again), and ACC has gotten more teams that are consistently higher ranked than UGA, Tech fans don’t consider it the biggest game of the season either. So it works both ways. It is the one we want to win the most, but hardly the most important.

As a Tech Alum and a Georgia Citizen my entire life I disagree. Why most GT fans hate uga is because for some reason you think you have a good school. Last time I checked US News and World Report uga was not ranked in the top ten in any academic category. For some odd reason you associate an ok football team with being a good school, that is a place where you get an education. And you also think you have some sort of football dynasty. Don’t know how you got that.

@Wreckem – That isn’t exactly fair to UGA. It is a great school. It just started from an Agricultural perspective where tech started from a trade perspective. UGA has an incredible music program. @ Villa Rica DAWG – Things get more and more personal every year. For example, after UGA plays at tech, there is generally multiple millions of dollars worth of damage to campus BUILDINGS. I don’t mean trash. I mean real damage. Last time I was at a UGA football game (Tech v. UGA in 2008). My family (3 tech alums and both parents UGA) were tailgating with my parents friends from UGA, when out of nowhere some drunken idiot yells out that the loyal dawgs would have kicked out the bugs in the tailgate and then throws over a beerbottle. The bottle hits my then 61 year old mother in the head. That is why it is less clean all the time and more personal. Glad you guys could cover this, I assumed it was sold out and did not bother trying to get tickets. Will have to sit in the nose bleeds but it will be nice to be there. Could you also point out how many Tech tickets are still available so their fans who also assume it is sold out but are dying to see their games can pick up the rest of their tickets. I can’t imagine they would have any trouble finnishing off the few tickets they have left after the brilliant season they had last year. They had a few bad games. But I am sure they would be clamoring to know that there are a few spots available for the strong Tech following in Atlanta. SO how many tickets are left at Tech? Mind posting that on the front page and opening it for comments. Not bad to go 8&5 and sell 90+ thousand tickets for every game. Especially with the premium you have to pay just to be considered for season tickets. It is going to be so much fun to squash the bugs again this year. They have no clue what they will be facing after our boys are done with the real schedule. After playing Auburn, Tech seem like the Ragin Cajuns to this team. We may not win all our games, but we will beat the bugs again, and you will still come to the UGA blogs.

@ how2fish – Just how big a boy are you :) . Yeah, we were not happy about it at all. But, to your point, had it happened at an Auburn game, I would have different opinions about them instead of UGA. I am an engineer, and most engineering firms are headed up by engineers, so I am constantly working for Tech grads, or other Engineering grads. Different departments have UGA grads heading them up, but not usually the engineering disciplines. I have no problem working for a UGA grad, and have done it previously. My comments have never been aimed at the Grads, simply the bad apples of the fan base, which are generally the ones that get themselves noted.

To all thinking about the ticket question. Maybe the Author was trying to explain that this shouldn’t be considered a non sell out, instead of an exclamatory statement of a lack of fan ticket buying, more a statement of “it is really a sell out, here is why.” Just a thought in giving the author the benefit of the doubt.

what’s with the title of this article? Even more, why is this article the cover story on the ajc home page??

- it’s simply written that the unsold tickets were only recently returned back to uga. doubt there is any real concern of whether or not those add’l. tix are sold.
- is the ajc hurting so bad for readers that they have to have an article w/ a miss-representing title on the cover of their website?

here’s another sample title/story to run on tomorrow’s page:
title: “The wold is indeed flat!”
story: Until christopher columbus made his voyage to the americas, many speculated that the world was flat and not actually round.

Well let me say that the opening game is going to sellout. UGA as a brand sells itself, even when it isn’t doing well. So I’m not worried about the university losing money.

With that being said, this Dawg fan isn’t going to be spending his hard earned money for ANY UGA games until I see marked improvement from the team. Sorry, but I refuse to pay money to see my team half a$$ around and give up 30-40 points on defense or to barely beat a Pac-10 team by a field goal. All me a bandwagon fan if you like, but I don’t reward half a$$ness with my support. Sorry, I just won’t do it.

Besides, its more fun to tailgate and then go bar hopping in downtown Athens. That way if the Dawgs suck, that $80 is better spent toasting the Dawgs when they win OR drowning my sorrows when they lose. LOL.

What is there for dawgtards to be proud of? All they have is their football team made up of illiterates and thugs.

Since dawgtards seem to love living in the past, how about remembering the Jan Kemp trial, which exposed UGA and Vince Dooley for the jokes that they were. My favorite quote from the trial was this one:

O. Hale Almand Jr., a lawyer for the defense, offered a justification for the favorable treatment accorded the athletes, citing a hypothetical player. “We may not make a university student out of him,” he told the jury, “but if we can teach him to read and write, maybe he can work at the post office rather than as a garbageman when he gets through with his athletic career.”

The best thing about the trial was that it completely killed Vince Dooley’s shot at Congress, since he was exposed as a fraud and a cheat during the trial. Make no mistake – Dooley knew everything that was going on.

Nothing has changed in the almost three decades since the trial. If anything, the abuses are even worse. Exhibit #1: Jim Harrick and son.

Today the players are even more illiterate and felonious and, well, just plain stupid, as evidenced by their arrest records and record number of penalties. Even Vince Dooley couldn’t have controlled this mob, much less Mark Richt. And now even the AD is a drunk debaucherer.

There’s a reason why UGA is known as The Cesspool of the South.

You Dawg fans who keep repeating “30-24″ like a mantra enjoy yourselves all you want. The thing is… Tech alumni and fans have lives that don’t depend entirely on what a bunch of kids does on Saturday afternoons. College sports are fun to follow, but the biggest reason for going to college is to get an education.

UGA fans don’t seem to care about anything but football, and they don’t care if their players are enrolled in silly majors that no parents who are paying the bills would send their kids to UGA for. The very few football and basketball players who graduate have no job opportunities and end up unemployed or working in menial jobs that hardly require a college degree.

Georgia Tech is a real school with serious academic standards, and that includes scholarshipped athletes. UGA has a long history of being a party school, where parents send their kids for an easy degree, even if the degree itself is practically worthless.

Jan Kemp exposed the crap going on at UGA with athletes being enrolled in courses a ten-year-old kid could pass. That was almost three decades ago, and nothing has changed. If anything, the abuses are more blatant today. Way too many illiterate morons are being recruited, and the very high arrest rate shows clearly that Richt does not care if his players have any morals or self-discipline.

The bottom line is that most Tech fans have very good jobs and productive lives that don’t depend on Tech’s football record for their happiness in life. It would be great to beat UGA more often, but when you put scholar-athletes up against dummy-athletes, it’s usually no contest.

It’s pretty pathetic to see UGA fans who typically have never been within miles of a college classroom and who live or die with UGA’s weekly results on the football field.

So keep on posting your “30-24″ all you want, especially since you’re home with plenty of time on your hands. I wish you well, maybe you’ll get lucky and get your old job back at the Waffle House before your unemployment checks stop coming.

This is a HIGH SCHOOL GAME!!!!!! It competes with OTHER HIGH SCHOOL GAMES!!!!!!
If UGAG wanted to schedule a COLLEGE game where one COLLEGE plays another COLLEGE, it could have done so. Don’t complain when you are a college that failed to schedule another college to play a “”"”REAL GAME”"”" . THIS ISN’T A REAL GAME. Its a SCRIMMAGE. I call it “G-Day-2″ and tickets should cost the same as “G-Day-1″ back in April…..

GT Alum, I wasted time reading you first epistle in an attempt to find one factual sentence. Couldn’t confirm where you were raised. Also have some doubts about you having parents. May be because they don’t want people to know about you. Why don’t you go up to the first floor and ask her.

Wow! What a total tool GT Alum is. It boggles my mind to see how freely you speak of the lowly, uneducated class, who did the unthinkable and didn’t go to college. It is shocking. Who do you think you are? You obviously have plenty of education, but zero class. That is something that can’t be learned on North Avenue.

You obviously have a lot of living and learning to do. I know that you probably haven’t done much meaningful socializing thus far in your life, but I imagine that the day will come soon where reality will set in and someone will knock you off of the lofty perch that you currently are sitting on. You need it.

GT never has a sold out game because half of GT’s student body is terrorists. Seriously, who would feel safe in that joke of a stadium with all the “dirka dirkas” screaming in the stands. And stop with all this bs “tech fans are more worried about getting jobs and continuing their education,” shut the hell up. Y’all sound so stupid when you pull your “academic card” on a blog that’s about football. Keep sucking on CPJ’s DD’s you little pansies.

As the two Navy Hornets flew over the Varsity and spilled all of the old GT alumni Cokes, they were heard by the Dobbins tower that “um ah, geeeeeez, we STILL CANNOT sell out our stadium with CPH here.”

They were last seen steaming for the Navy airbase in Yemen ………… to pump jet fuel and DEMOTED and GROUNDED and WINGLESS.

Whats the update on the ticket status? We are all on pins and needles! Seriously, it will sell out. This story would be a waste if it wasn’t for all the trash talking. @ Of Course, I’m a GT Alum and a native Georgian, the “terrorists”, a small portion of the student body, don’t come to the football games. Fortunately they are pretty reclusive, like most of my fellow Techies. And we could sell out a football game if we lowered our academic standards to let less inteligent student athelets in our school. Remeber student comes first, not football. If ugag could get funds from something other than sports then maybe one day they can be repected across the world like the institute. But I think Alumni would stop donating then.

GT Alum, This is a football blog. UGA is one of only about 100 level 1 research universities out of every college in the US — blah, blah, blah. Get a life man. We are on here to talk about sports — stick to the subject!

Sell it out!

August 26th, 2010

The dawgs will end up selling out all their games, while lowly tech has trouble selling about even the big conference games. UGA–in a different class than tech, which will be stuck in the minor leagues, as usual.

As to be expected, the last game not being a sell-out was the Techerhead game. The closest rival, an in-state rival to boot and they can’t even muster enough of their lousy fans, whose shirts and hats don’t even match the colors of their team’s helmets or jerseys (still can’t figure that one) to make it to a game an hour away. My high school stadium was bigger than Tech’s. PATHETIC!
