ATHENS — “Georgia” beat “Louisiana-Lafayette” 38-24 in a practice game Wednesday in Sanford Stadium. Or was that 38-0?
UGA coach Mark Richt said he spotted the “Louisiana-Lafayette” team –- Georgia scout teamers impersonating the season-opening opponent — 21 points. And he gave the “Ragin’ Cajuns” another three points by counting a missed field goal as made.
Got that?
The teams played one half of football, with coaches trying to emulate game conditions as much as possible.
That included having the assistant coaches working from where they’ll be in real games -– Todd Grantham, Rodney Garner, Mike Bobo, Stacy Searels and Bryan McClendon at field level; Warren Belin, Scott Lakatos, Tony Ball and John Lilly upstairs in the coaches’ box.
The scrimmage was closed to the public and media, but Richt provided what he called “unofficial official” statistics afterward:
Before the scrimmage, coaches named captains for the opening game. They are Shawn Chapas for the offense, Demarcus Dobbs and Cuff for the defense and Fred Munzenmaier for special teams.
Here are the statistics UGA provided (and remember, they’re “unofficial official,” meaning they’re incomplete and won’t add up in all cases):

Warrior Queen Boudica, did you read the article? Neither murry or mason are on the scout team so It would be pretty dang hard to throw a int to Jakar Hamilton and Bacarri Rambo

Did Justin Houston not play? I’m surprised he wasn’t in on that sack fest.

Warrior Queen Boudica no conspiracy here Hamilton and Rambo played on the Georgia side so it’s hard to intercept their own qurterback while they are on the bench. Bingham and the other walk-on played for LA Laf and committed the interceptions. Why do fans look for conspiracy theories don’t know why the coaches would want to lie and if they were I’m sure they are smart enough to know if they list a defensive player having an interception that there had to be a quarterback throwing one.

By the numbers it looks like our TE’s are going to dominate. Haven’t seen many stats of them catching balls. Anyone have numbers from Charles, White, and company.

12-2 ” So who is your team of choice “… why the railing on Aaron Murray? The kid played in the highest classification in Florida and spurned the big 3 in Florida for Georgia- are we a little po’d at that…sounds so to me… my god UGA has their worst season in over 10yrs and everyone assumes that is the end… please– it has always fallen back on coaching for a number of years and yes Richt ws guilty of propping up his buddy and his cronies ignorant to the fact he was in over his head.. He finally made the long awaited change hence the new defensive coaches on board. ( the one constant between all of them is: THEY ARE TEACHERS!!! which is something UGA has not had in the past as evidenced by the lack of funadmentals- arm tackles… penalty’s…etc )

Stop panicing dawg fans. We have the best receiver if football. We have the best field goal kicker and punter. We have two good running backs with an O line that should be able to create some holes this year for the guys to run through. We have a young quarter back who is still learning but was highly recruited around the country and was damn good in highschool. The defense can only be better. This should be a good season. Enough sreaming about the sky falling. We had a lot of close games last year wins and losses. We should be better. Meaning some of the wins will not be the nail biters we had last year and some of the losses like Kentucky and the horrible LSU ref will not happen again. I doubt Tennessee is going to kill us this year. Tech lost a ton of talent. Ark has no D. Florida has a new quarter back, d coach, and a lot of new players. Our schedule is not as tough as it has been in the past. We do not play LSU or Alabama. Auburn will be much better and they probably could/should have beaten us last year. Yes, things could go horribly wrong, but you have to be optimistic with the opportunity the boys have this year. Still, I would rather play Techs schedule… What a joke. If they are not a 1 loss team when we get ready to play they should look for a new coach.

lol at whoever counts stats for this thing. It would be like taking the father v. son t-ball game seriously and counting stats for it.
Well little Joey was 0-4 but his dad was 15-15 with 47 RBIs.

Best stat to come out of the practice game…no injuries….we stay healthy we will be fine. 12-2 still a gasbag I see. With some many trees in the state you would think you could just pick one and get some rope already. How can anyone keep going when they are so negative ? 2,000,000 blogs not one positive post.

Wonder how much Mason’s passing yardage was YAC. Glad to see is playing ball and is probably a good kid, but alot of his record breaking stats from high school last year were padded by YAC. 3 yard pass, 60 yard run, net 63 yards passing. Anyway, good for him—the Bennett kid is a good player at receiver….oh yes, The Hell With Georgia.

Murray is short ,slow and can’t throw the football, our defense will not perform well under the 3-4 with our new DC Grantham.Let’s enjoy reading these great comments in their little dream world our maybe our foes will read this great stuff and take it to the bank, probable to good to be true, you think..Can’t wait to see these boneheads on game day, they might be shocked.

Some people on this blog are stupid as hell. These are a half of stats and they are unofficial meaning some things might not be correct. Murray’s stats are not that bad for 2 quarters. If they were great yall would be saying our backups suck. Are yall negative about every facet of life.

Calm down DAWG fans. We are okay!!! CMR doesn’t wanna give away too much to the media to be exposed at this time. That’s why the stats are “unofficial”. We will be just fine this year. Expect great things!!!

The sky isn’t falling, but even the most optimistic dawg fan has to admit that Murray is making them a little nervous. He looked poor in the Spring game and his stats from the scrimmages have been average. Meanwhile, Richt has no solid backup for him in case he goes down, and by the way, he seems to be a little injury prone. There really is no excuse for a coach who has been in place as long as Richt to end up in such a dire QB predicament.

Mason threw one nice pass that a TE dropped in the end zone as well. The numbers aren’t adding up but it not a conspiracy. It is still a team working on their game. Every day they learn more and improve. I can’t wait for many of you to explain how the very people you claim can’t prerform, play or are too short, no arm, too slow, too young… etc. are getting the job done. Amazing how so many really know so little about the people they are judging. Almost comical how much is repeated from bloggs or some evaluation of a kid when he was in HS. Do any of you ever question the so called “gurus” that produce these half truths and poor evaluations. So many believe what they read and don’t look at how motivated a player is to get better. Makes me question how much moxie, dedication and determination many folks have in their own lives. I’d hate to think that by the time I’m 18 to 19 years old I am finished and done improving in my career, profession or personal life. So many draw conclusions, so few correct. I can’t wait to “watch” what happens and expect big days ahead.
