From AJC correspondent Andy Johnston in Athens:
Georgia defensive end Demarcus Dobbs missed Monday’s practice with a sprained ankle, but coach Mark Richt said Dobbs should return this week.
Meanwhile, inside linebacker Akeem Dent, who had been sidelined since having toe surgery last month, participated in practice, albeit wearing a green non-contact jersey, for the first time this summer.
Other injury updates: Richt said receiver Logan Gray (sprained ankle) should practice this week; center Ben Jones (knee) is making “rapid progress”; guard Cordy Glenn (mono) is “getting close,” and offensive lineman Tanner Strickland (shoulder) is “in and out.” Center Chris Burnette (concussion) and outside linebacker Dexter Morant (shoulder) are currently sidelined.

arkansas has little defense and with our huge advantage with the o/line, ball control will be the menu choice of the day.
plus- the game is in athens.

Gentlemen I rarely say this but it is time to merely ignore Still@theBAR he has devolved into a mindless bigot, spewing nonsense with every post. I have no problem trading zingers with opposing fans..hell I even at times enjoy that as much as actually talking football. However I’m afraid this has gotten a little too dark and twisted. I worry about the young man’s sanity from his comments he is certainly in a very bad place and needs help. I hope he gets it and to ensure I don’t help drive him deeper into despair I will no longer respond his rants nor read them..just my 2 cents.

I know richt said Garrison Smith and Mike Thornton are not ready yet to play defense and are looking to redshirt. I’m just wondering if anyone knows if they are progressing enough on the scout team to at least provide depth during the season.

I still can’t find a UGA fan smart enough to answer a simple multiple choice question. Who has the most national championships in college football? Is it a)Georgia Tech with 4, or is it b)UGA with 2. Here’s another one for you. Sorry, I’m not trying to confuse you. Try to stay with me here. Are national championships the single most important stat in college football?

Roll Tide:
Did you know that the University of Alabama MISPELLED Mississippi on the football tickets for their game against them this year? They are actually printed with the mispelling on there and distributed. It is the state right next door to you for crying out loud and you play them every year.

To GreatDawgVideo: That was funny when it was ORIGINAL and about UF. What WAS funny was how the editor had to go back to the Donnan years to get some bad UGA footage. Get a life you moron!

Congratulations on your 4 NC. Some polls show UGA with 5. If you look at the big picture (all sports), UGA has 37, Tech has 7.

UF among schools making money
The Associated Press
Published: Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 6:01 a.m.
COLUMBIA, Mo. — While college sports are among the sagging economy’s latest victims, things are not as bad at the University of Florida.
A newly released NCAA report shows that just 14 of the 120 Football Bowl Subdivision schools made money from campus athletics in the 2009 fiscal year, down from 25 the year before
The NCAA doesn’t release individual schools’ revenues and expenses. But Fulks confirmed Florida, Alabama, Ohio State, Texas and Tennessee are among the select group that made money from athletics. So is Missouri, which reported generating $2 million in profits from campus athletics in 2009.

gbal, I’m also on sattelite. Direct TV to be exact. I’m hoping it’s on there. I haven’t confrimed it, but once it’s closer I’m going to search the menu under football and “georgia” or “uga” to see if I can find it. If not, it’s off to the local bar lol.

Actually Tech has ONE official NCAA National Championship and that is in women’s tennis. ONE. The NCAA does not crown a 1-A football champion. Interestingly, 2 of the 4 MNSs they claim were NOT claimed until the early 1990s…….Check an old media guide and you’ll see,,,,,They scrounged around in some old magazines and added two. By the way—don’t check for a media guide this year. They couldn’t afford to print one. So to answer the question….2 REAL ones are more than 1 consensus one and 3 partials. To HELL with Tech!

Tide Roll…lets see..isn’t it funny…….nobody recruits athletes from the state of Alabama very hard….know why..because your high school football sucks…..Since most the athletes you named couldn’t get in Georgia right out of high school and had to go the JC route or attend a college with lower academic admissions standards it doesn’t surprise me that CMR passed on them. What a dumbass you are …you consistantly set yourself up as a dumbass with your condesending and inmature posts. Real Bama fans are embarressed by you…..But then again your most likely a 25-30 year old college drop out with nothing better to do except live at home with your parents and consistantly show people how stupid you are….ever notice how many freinds you don’t have?….there’s a reason…go look in the mirror and come back when you grow up….Can You Dig It!

Hey Red Panties…even with an athletic director chasing red panies Georgia was #2 on the list of universities whose athletic department made money. Texas is #1…UGA #2…been that way for at least ten years….Tell me do you actually think a Florida paper would ever print the real truth about Georgia….I don’t think so? …Keep believing what the Florida papers shovel your way…..thats what makes you so funny…your stupidity…..Can You Dig It!

Can You Dig It…I’m glad you realize all Bama fans are not like Tide Roll. He’s the definition of being obnoxious and an embarrassment to the rest of us. I check out all the football blogs and idiots are everywhere. I suspect it is the younger ones who do most of the crap talk, but it sure gets old.

Well, for the vast majority of fans who love college football, it’s the quest for the title that means something. They enjoy the thousands of other games played, even if simplemnded punks don’t get why. I am sorry to hear that your favorite team means nothing to you for not winning the MNC every single year. I think they have a name for that.

For those who asked, UGA’s game will be on TV for those who have DIRECTV. I’m not sure of the channel but its on the same channel that broadcasts the ‘SEC Network.’ I’m not sure if it’s Peachtree TV or not, but it’s one of the local affiliates.
