Check out the stats from Tuesday’s UGA football scrimmage

“Unofficial official” statistics from Georgia’s closed scrimmage Tuesday, as provided by Mark Richt:

RUSHING

Washaun Ealey: 5 carries, 66 yards

Caleb King: 14 carries, 63 yards

Carlton Thomas: 9 carries, 26 yards

Hutson Mason: 2 carries, 3 yards

PASSING

Aaron Murray: 12-for-21, 1 interception, 2 touchdowns, 237 yards (long pass of 63 yards to A.J. Green)

Hutson Mason: 9-for-23, 1 intercpetion, 1 touchdown, 78 yards

Parker Welch: 1-for-3, 41 yards (to Logan Gray)

Greg Bingham: 0-for-3

RECEIVING

A.J. Green: 5 catches for 141 yards and 2 touchdowns (long of 63)

Logan Gray: 2 catches for 45 yards (long of 41)

Carlton Thomas: 2 catches for 38 yards  (long of 21)

Tavarres King: 2 catches, 33 yards (long of 28)

Artie Lynch: 1 catch, 3 yards

DEFENSE

Akeem Hebron: 6 total tackles, including 4 solo, 2 assists and 1 sack

Demarcus Dobbs: 5 tackles (4 solo and 1 assist)

Nick Williams: 5 tackles (3 solo and 2 assists)

Christian Robinson: 4 tackles (3 solo and 1 assist), 1 forced fumble

Shawn Williams: 4 tackles (3 solo and 1 assist), 1 sack

Brandon Boykin and Alec Ogletree: 1 interception each.

(Note: No. 1 offense played against No. 2 defense, and No. 1 defense vs. No. 2 offense, in the scrimmage.)

Etc.: Several players were held out of  Tuesday’s scrimmage, including offensive lineman Cordy Glenn, linebacker Marcus Dowtin and wide receiver Kris Durham. According to Richt: Glenn has been ill, battling a sore throat and other symptoms; Dowtin was “scraped up” in a “little scooter accident, nothing severe”; and Durham “got dinged” in practice. . . . Offensive lineman Trinton Sturdivant, who is working his way back slowly after missing the past two seasons with knee injuries, also did not scrimmage.

Ealey getting what, 13 yards a carry? Wow! Hello Heisman.

Murray had a td to int ratio of 2.0 against the #2 defense. That’s better. But expected.

Mason struggled against the #1 defense with a 1.0 td to int ratio, no surprise there, as he went up against Georgia’s best.

Logan Gray, the man can play, he’s a stud. 41 yard catch, he’s catching on fast. Look out folks, secret weapon.

Boykin & Ogletree getting picks, impressive, Robinson forcing a fumble, Grantham’s D forcing 3 to’s.

I don’t hear anyone saying that because EALEY played at a SINGLE A school that he won’t get done on a big time college level now. Big Ups to Ealey, Hearst, and Walker who all played at the SINGLE A level. I think Richt need to recruit that level more because they seem to be more loyal Dawgs because of growing up in small towns as I did. You really appreciate the opportunities you get life a little bit more in all aspects of life.

Not even 9 yards an attempt for Mason, while it looks like Murray threw a few bombs to AJ.

Could be one of three factors:
1.) Better OL protection for Murray, allowing a 7 step drop?
2.) Murray knowing the offense better, as Mason completed quite a few
short passes into the flat?
3.) Murry having a better arm than Mason?

This is what preseason is all about. Can’t wait to see how this offense looks.

5 catches, 141 yards and 2 TDs for A.J…those are video game numbers. Murray hit Green on a 63 yarder which is impressive. I know this was a scrimmage but it shows that these guys are working hard. Ealey is easiley our best back and he’s only a sophomore. He’ll win a heisman before he leaves UGA. Believe it. I just hope we can keep everyone healthy and get Branden Smith back on the team and get his academic issues taken care of. Lookin’ good so far. GO DAWGS!

The Edwards brothers also came from small Ga towns. You sir, are 100% correct. I say go after more Georgia bred men from small Ga towns that want to be Bulldogs.

City of Atlanta schools are not rigorous enough in math and science and the pre recs needed for UGA to get players that can be successful, I fear. Some years ago we had the David Jacobs kid who was hurt but he was one terrific kid and I always liked him. he is forever a great UGA Dog. He was from city of Atlanta schools.

what is the point of putting up stats from a scrimmage game. I would hope that Murray could lite it up against 2nd team. and I would hope Mason would struggle against 1st team. Murray had 1 line to protect him against some freshman, sophmores and fill ins. so he should be able to lite it up with people like Green going against 2nd team backs. And i Would hope that the Number one defense would be all over Mason who probably couldnt find a 2nd string reciever covered by number one d-back to save his life. And was probably looking for these reciever while running for that same life. its counterproductive to put numbers out that are so out of wack. The scrimmage was for one purpose to get the number one teams someone to line up on and run what they have been learning.

Still, very bad that Murray’s still throwing an interception every game. Not sure what Bobo & Richt are doing, but Murray’s not improving with ball protection.

He needs to be up around a 4.0+ td to int ratio like Fla/Bama, not 2.0 like Joe Cox.

TD to Int ratio is the only stat that matters for Georgia this year.

If Murray keeps up the 2.0 td to int ratio, it will cost Georgia a National Championship. Must be up above 4.

Can Murray just have 1 game where he doesn’t throw an interception?

Avery, TD are worth 6 points. Ints could be bad or have noconcequences. You never know if that was inside the red zone (bad) or on a 3rd and long (no worse than a short punt). I doubt that all that matter this year. Cox wasn’t exactly low in that ratio and had we been able to run the ball better, and a couple of other issue not been, easily would have won 2/3 more games. Running the ball is what matter way more than if Murray scores twice before making a bad decision.

Techies, when you brag about all your big stats in your glorified scrimmages (a.k.a. ACC Football) we don’t laugh. Okay, nevermind. We do laugh. Anyway, the point is that our team faced tougher competition in that scrimmage han your overhyped arses did against 8-5 Clemson in your phony championship game. So I wouldn’t get all high and mighty about scrimmage stats. Most of your big stats last year came against the Wake Forests, Dukes, and UVA’s of the world. I’d rather watch a scrimmage.

Facts are, our program was an underachieving mess until “st richt” came along. It had been 20 years since we won an SEC title. 20 years!!!

I support him because he is our coach and above that, he is a better person than he is a coach. Maybe that is to his detriment on the field but in the long run, I don’t see how having an ethical, upright, honest man coaching young men is a bad thing.

I get sick of all the bloggers who spend all of their time waiting on a new UGA blog so they can bash. If I could find another forum to discuss, football, I’d go there. We have had some civil discussions in the past, even with opponent fans.

the bottom line is, GT gets respect from everyone across the United States, except from UGA. UGA has no respect acroos the United States because everyone sees you as a bunch of redneck imbeciles who think your going to win it all EVERY YEAR but only win 8 games and don’t even compete in your conference. I dont mind you guys talking trash, talk all the trash you want, but PLEASE win first, DO SOMETHING, COMPETE IN YOUR CONFERENCE, THEN maybe your trash talking won’t look so idiotic and stupid. The problem is uGAY people talk like they are the nation’s elite, when in reality you are a joke. So until you start doing SOMETHING, please quit acting like your a top school. Seriously, it has been 30 years…..did you hear me? 30 F*CKIN YEARS SINCE YOU ALL WON ANYTHING. GET OVER YOURSELVES

Considering thUGA has a history of athletic academic fraud, you should be undefeated!

Dawgtards, and what point would that be? That Techies are a bunch of panty bunched whinos that talk a big game on the internet but their team rarely ever backs it up on the field? You’re welcome. Any time my friend.

The Techies have us in basketball? Haven’t we waxed Hewitt’s azz on a regular basis? Please advise.

dawgfan, come on bro don’t be ignorant. GT makes in to the tournament almost every year. Not to mention we put out first year NBA starters every year. We absolutely KILL yall in basketball AND baseball recruiting. Just look at how many professional baseball and basketball players we have come out of Tech every year. God your ignorance is so damn annoying. Sometimes I would just like to beat a dawg’s ass

Where is your baseball championship

Where is your undefeated unanimous, without the help of a UPI and sharing it with several other schools national championship

Academic fraud, what about the academic fraud that occurred at Tech in the 90’s

And since you think were not a top school, well ok then, what is Tech since it has under achieved against UGA

Now, get back using your SANITATION ENGINEERING DEGREES and get back to cleaning the toilets at the Varsity, because come game time there will be a whole lot of trash you will be hired to pick up after all UGA home games.

Listen Here Rednecks, I noticed you neglected one little detail: FINAL SCORES. I’m pretty sure we’ve been waxing that Techie azz fairly regularly on the hardwood as well.

Of course you want to kick a Dawg’s azz. You’re a panty bunched Techie whiner whose arse clearly still hurts from 30-24. There’s obviously a lot of pent up frustration there. Perhaps you should seek therapy. Just trying to help.

Hey dawgfan – In BBall GT is considered Point Guard U by national print and broadcast media (look it up fool). thUGA’s best point guard is convicted felon Tony Cole. Don’t even go there; you will look even more dawgtarded.

BTW – I do like Coach Fox and I think he will do well. But have a .500 record and maybe an NIT appearance before saying you actually have a BBall program.

@Reality Stinks – GT’s academic issues included 14 male and female student athletes playing various sports. Only 3 football players are included in the total. These athletes credit hours got screwed up when Tech changed from Semesters to quarters. The credit hours were calculated by the admissions office, NOT the athletic department. We paid the price and moved on. If we were trying to cheat, I don’t think womens track and field is where you would look for an advantage.

ThUGA on the other hand created a developmental studies program for 100’s of athletes to stay eligible each year for the sole purpose of cheating in sports. You certainly do cheat with the best. I would say this is the worst case of academic fraud for athletes ever, but then little ole Jim Harrick JR decided to be a teacher. How many points is a 3 pointer worth? thUGA’s history is riddled with cheating and probations, it is who you are, embrace it!

At least them bees didn’t build a statue of the one of the most mediocre coaches that ever walked the sidelines in the SEC. That God we’ve got rich alums that know the value of a car to a broke recruit with rather meager means.

I’m not impressed with Murray’s stats. He threw a pick, he barely completed 50 percent of his passes, and it was against the second-team defense! Not very impressive, if you ask me.

WOW. I was just interested to see how UGA was coming along and have not read a UGA blog in I don’t know how long as was glad to see that dawgfan talks about GT as much here as he does on the GT blogs.
To real UGA fans I hope your defense gets better and Murray can get some time from your line to develope his skill set. It would be nice to see both of our teams do well and be ranked come good ole fashion hate.

Let’s me get this straight, Murray goes against the second team defense and the coaches are pleased with the exception of one play, but two long td’s and some fans still are finding fault rather than getting behind this guy…you had Met in the Spring G-Day going against the second/third teams, and he had a good day going against the second/third string and you swear he was the next coming of John Elway…QB’s touch the ball on almost every play and there will be times when bad things happen, but practices are sure a better place to try something rather than a game…from what his team members are saying about how he prepares, his smarts, his time in the film room, his leadership as a first year player all sounds pretty positive…I’m willing to get behind him and at least giving him a chance…it’s sad that there are fans waiting for every mishap to jump on this kid, or for that fact any player at this stage of the season to fail so that you sages of the gridiron can then become the Master of the Obvious and spout off about int’s, dropped passes, fumbles, penalties, etc. and stating that these are bad (duhhhhh)…isn’t this the time of year where these should be tried, learned from, and eliminated? sure isn’t during the season..give the kid some breathing room

GT fans, What conference will Tech run to next? You left the SEC because you couldn’t compete. You are losers and will always be losers.
