Georgia-Colorado game time changed

ATHENS – The starting time for Georgia’s Oct. 2 football game at Colorado has been changed to 7 p.m. ET (5 p.m. Mountain Time), the  schools announced Tuesday.

The game was originally scheduled to be played 2 1/2 hours earlier, at 4:30 p.m. ET (2:30 p.m. MT).

As before, the game will be televised nationally on Fox Sports Net.

The reason for the change: TV contracts, of course.

ABC is televising the Oklahoma-Texas game at 3:30 p.m. ET on Oct. 2. Shifting the Georgia-Colorado game preserves ABC’s Big 12 exclusivity in the 3:30 p.m. window.

WOW! Colorado- 4 straight losing seasons. 3-9 last year. That’s a real juggernaut. Way to go dawgs. Keep scheduling those bottom of the pac bcs conference schools- lets see Colorado sucks, ASU-when’s the last time the sun devils won anything; Okla state- how often does this team win its division? Never! How often do they beat Texas? Never, how about OU-once in a blue moon, just like UGA they are the 3rd or 4th best team in their division.

Kool aid drinker…
For one, those schedules are made 5+ years in advance in most cases, so their recent history is always a crap shoot.

Also, if you are a fan of another southern college football team, and it’s not Tennessee, then you have no room to talk. Apart from the Vols, no ACC or SEC school schedules anywhere near that many BCS conference opponents over a 5 year stretch. And last year, Georgia set the record for BCS conference opponents in a single season. Combine those schools with Ga Tech and the SEC schedule, and it’s gonna be among the 10-20 hardest schedules in the country every time.

Who do you pull for, and where does your team travel to play? Michigan has turned down an offer to play a home and home with Georgia. We will be playing Oregon State & Oregon in the coming years.

Your attempt at humor falls on deaf ears.

Kool aid drinker, UGA owes this game to CU as they came to Athens, what was it, 5 years ago? If you would realize that these games are scheduled many years in advance, you never know what that team might be like down the road. I seem to have read that Tech opens up with South Carolina State, that is if you are a Tech fan. Now that is a real “powerhouse”, are they Div.1, or 2, or are they NAIA? And speaking of the UGA vs CU game, any one out there know where to get tickets?

Since I live in Hawaii that will be just right. Let’s see, should be a 1:00 pm game for me. That is unless I have miscalculated when daylight savings time ends. Hawaii does not observe it. In that case it could be a 12:00 or 2:00 pm game. How does it go? Spring forward, Fall back. Anyway it sure beats getting up at 6:00 am to watch a noon kickoff. Sic ‘em.

That’s right dd, UGA has year-end and year-out scheduled a competitive out-of-conference schedule with no 1AA schools. Since these schedules are made years in advance there is no guarantee that the opponent will be competitive.

Matt B.,

Michigan is in talks with Alabama. About to seal a deal to play Bama. No offense to the dawgs but I think Michigan wanted to schedule a more marquee name to help get their program back on track. Georgia has always been known as a decent but not great regional program. The game vs ASU was the dog’s first trips besides a bowl game outside of the immediate southeast US in 58 years. Michigan wants Alabama because Alabama has always been a big national name like what USC is to west coast football, OU and Texas to the southwest, Nebraska to the midwest, and of course teams like ND, Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State in the north. Georgia is a fine program but it just doesn’t have the pedigree or the tradition of an Alabama. That’s why Alabama played top ranked OU in the early 2000s, VT last year, and will play Penn State this year while Georgia takes on teams like Colorado, ASU, and Okie state. The koolaid drinker may be an arse but he also is correct. Its a difference in stature and Georgia doesn’t have that kind of stature.

Hey Kool Aid, when the Dawgs scheduled this about eight years ago, Colorado looked like they were going to be a good team to play a home and home. It’s not our fault that their AD was using sex to sell the school (not that EVERY other school in the country does that to a certain extent).

Koolaid:

Ughhh, actually CU won their division twice and played in the big 12 championship game in the last 5-6 years. True, they have fallen on hard times the last couple of years, but they did beat Oklahoma 3 years ago when they were ranked in the top 5. Not a top opponent, but a quality one especially away at 5,500 feet and now it will probably be about 55 degrees at game time and dropping fast.

The best thing about attending this game for Dawg fans is the 1990 national champions sign you will see, the same year tech claims to have won their national championship! Worth going to the game just to see that!

College Footgall Scheduler, UGA beat Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1965, which was about 45 years ago, not 58. So, Michigan is ducking UGA to play Alabama, thinking they might have a chance against Saban’s boys. Every Big Ten school has gone down to the Dawgs, including Ohio State, Mich, Mich St, Purdue, Wisconsin, ETC, ETC. Of course, Ohio St would go down to just about any SEC school, except for maybe Vandy (OSU in a close one).
