UGA football tickets available for three home games

Although season tickets are again sold out, Georgia will put a “limited number” of single-game tickets to three home football games on sale to the general public next week.

Tickets to the Sept. 4 season opener against Louisiana-Lafayette, the Sept. 18 game against Arkansas and the Nov. 6 game against Idaho State will be available starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday by phone (1-877-542-1231) and online (www.georgiadogs.com). The tickets are $45 apiece.

The tickets are available  because the opposing team did not require as many seats as for some other games and/or because UGA season-ticket holders did not request as many additional seats as for some other games. Georgia typically has a small number of single-game tickets available to the general public for a couple of home games each year, but it’s surprising that the Arkansas game — the Bulldogs’  first SEC home game and a potential matchup of Top 25 teams — is available.

Georgia said the single-game orders will be filled on a “first-come, first-serve” basis.

Why doesn’t UGA give out these tickets to all the lawyers, bail bondsmen, and probation officers in Athens who ensure that Mark Richt will have enough players to field a team?

Hey look… Red panties are falling from the sky!!!

I thought Dawg Fans would never miss a game or an excuse to get drunk and crap all over their favorite campus. I guess La Laf and Idaho St are just not enough of a reason to get drunk after all.

it must be puzzling to techies that a handful of tickets for three games being avilable is headline worthy. What would the headline read for tech “plenty of tickets available for all games at our measly stadium, as usual”

Can’t miss investment tip: Buy stock in Victoria’s Secret. Their red panty factory is working 24/7 to meet the huge demand.

Another solid tip: Don’t bet that A.J. Green wasn’t in Miami. You’ll lose.

Okay, one more tip: UGA fans should take plenty of booze to Jax this year. You’ll need it.

UGA releases tickets to the general public every year. These are typically returned from the visiting University that could not sell their allotment. Please let me know the next time that UGA has a home game that isn’t sold out. That would be a news story

Guess the myth the UGA sells out every game has been busted. There would be no single game seats available for the season ticket holders to request extra if more fans bought season ticket packages to begin with.

I attend a game in Athens every other year and occasionally also attend another game there of national import (like the Bama game there three years ago) but I am an Auburn fan that has never seen that contest sold out in Athens by actual fannies in the seats. There are always empty seats in the upper decks!

I guess the 4 tickets, 4 corn dogs, 4 red panties may sell some tickets to the Arkansas game since they wear red too.

I still like the 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 cokes deal at BDS. But they haven’t had that available since CPJ came around.

SECRules — The next Auburn at UGA game that you attend, which has empty seats in it will be the first….don’t make stuff up just, you only discredit yourself…the only time you would see any empty seats at an Auburn game, or any other SEC game in Athens would be in the first 5 minutes of the first quarter and it would be in the Student section….students always drag in late, but there are never empty seats….just because you say it doesn’t make it true and just because you say it does not mean people are stupid enough to believe it.

SECRules, UR a dumb @$$ that can’t read. The article plainly says the tickets have been returned by the other schools. There will be a few more returned a week or so before the games. The demand has been greater than the supply for years. Ask the poor folks that give >$1K to the UGA foundation and still can’t buy season tickets. Also, not sure when you have seen many empty seats at recent games, unless you are referring to the 2nd half of last couple of games vs. Auburn. Not many Auburn fans around during the 4th quarter.

Gotta love the poster’s name at 4:39 p.m…. yeah, Georgia is terrified of scheduling good opponents… that’s why we have games all the time against Boise, Clemson, Oklahoma St., Colorado, Georgia Tech, Arizona State, Louisville, etc.

Obviously that moron at 4:39 p.m. doesn’t realize that Georgia CAN’T play Bama and LSU every year because THE SEC sets conference schedules, NOT the individual schools.

Of course, Alabama and LSU have played and scheduled such mammoth games in recent years such as Georgia State, Duke, Western Illinois, Middle Tennessee, San Jose State, Florida International, Louisiana Monroe, North Texas, Tulane, Arkansas State, Western Carolina, McNeese State, Louisiana LaFayette, etc. etc. etc. etc.

To Boyd et al: If it is not embarrassing for a married man to have another woman’s panties in his lap, then why did Damon cry like a little girl when he was caught? If you don’t find it embrrassing for a married man to be chasing young girls, then I feel sorry for your wife if you have one. You have no morals either. I guess you are like Huey Long! “Better a dead hooker in your trunk than a live young boy in your bed.”

Facts — well-said. The SEC sets schedules, and any SEC fan knows this… apparently the moron at 4:39 thinks we can just schedule anybody, anytime, anywhere every summer… doesn’t work like that. Schedules are usually set 3, 4, or 5 years in advance.

Oh, well. I have never had any problem with Georgia’s schedule… with 8 SEC games each year AND the Florida game being a road game every year AND our in-state rival being from a BCS conference, I don’t mind at all if our other two non-conference games have traditionally been an easy one and an average one. Hopefully now with 12-game schedules, we’ll find more regional matchups that are even… maybe schedule another ACC team or a Big 12 team or a Big 10 team… would be cool to see UGA play in Chapel Hill or Iowa City or Lawrence or East Lansing or College Station or Blacksburg.

Still@theBAR

Jeff i don’t remember but when is the last time UGA scheduled Clemson (03)? A 1-9 Colorado please. When did UGA schedule Boise (05)? When you made the deal with OSU(09) they sucked and UGA didn’t think it would be a tough game.

All of you like SECRules don’t have a damn cluewhat you are talking about here. Morons.

Read the damn article blind idiots. The tickets are from an allotment given to every (ALL) road team that comes to Athens. Every team does this. Tickets like the ones mentioned are those that were not purchased by the VISITORS, you ignorant bored viles. As far as empty seats instead of actual fannies SECRules when you go….grow a brain will a…those upperdeck tickets are again unused VISITORS tickets. UGA fans will gooble them up in less than an hour. Want to rag on someone go to an Arky board or the other two schools…they are the ones abandoning their team…

Next time get some facts before coming here and spewing this crap. Go fix your pocketprotectors and calculators instead of posting. You came to have a battle of wits….only thing is that you came without any ammunition.

Paul in RDU

Some people don’t sedem to be able to comprehend the article – claiming that the available tickets are because of lack of interest from visiting teams.
Although many of the tickets are being returned by the visitors some may be available “because UGA season-ticket holders did not request as many additional seats as for some other games”.

I would guess one season ticket holder who didn’t take as many additional single game tickets in 2010 is Damon Evans. Since he is moving from Athens he doesn’t need as many tickets to give out to the local law enforcement personnel late in the evening.

I have a serious question about UGA’s SEC schedule. What proportion of the dates are set by the conference? I mean the dates of the games, not who UGA plays. In the ACC “traditional rivalry games” (e.g. Duke-UNC) are played pretty much the same time but the rest of them seem to float around. Last year GT played Clemson and Miami early – this year they play them later one, etc.
