Georgia’s starting quarterback has never played in a college game, but the extensive experience around him has Mark Richt notably enthused about the Bulldogs’ offense.
“I’d much rather have that kind of maturity around a young quarterback than a very veteran quarterback surrounded by a bunch of puppies,” Richt told the Greater Atlanta Bulldog Club this week.
Particularly comforting to Richt is the experience on the offensive line, where senior Chris Davis has 37 career collegiate starts, senior Clint Boling 36, junior Ben Jones 23, junior Cordy Glenn 22 and senior Josh Davis 9. That’s a combined 127 starts.
Boling, Jones and Glenn have started since their true freshman seasons and Chris Davis since his redshirt freshman season.
“They played before they should have had to play,” Richt said, “but now they’re mature. They’re so much more ready for these games. They’re bigger; they’re stronger; they’re wiser. They have the confidence to know they can play in any SEC venue and have success. When you’re breaking in a young quarterback, that’s very important.”
Richt also feels good about the experience elsewhere on offense.
He has a senior tandem at fullback in starter Shaun Chapas and backup Fred Munzenmaier. “I can’t think of a better fullback combination in the country,” Richt said.
The tailback tandem is less experienced -– sophomore Washaun Ealey (two starts) and junior Caleb King (five starts) –- but Richt expects them to build on their confidence-inspiring successes of late last season.
“Washaun Ealey a year ago was kind of a chubby kid and didn’t really know what to do; he wasn’t in great condition,” Richt said. “But now he’s in tremendous condition and knows what to do. And we got Caleb King starting the season healthy, and he’s going to make a difference.”
Richt also expressed optimism about the mix of talent and experience at wide receiver, led by junior A.J. Green, and tight end.
Someone else should be comforted by all of this experience: Aaron Murray, the redshirt freshman quarterback who will be playing in his first college game on Sept. 4.

Bottom line, Murray can make a lot of mistakes IN SOME AREAS, for example, I don’t care if he’s sacked 40 times, or has a 45% accuracy from throwing safe passes and then misses receivers by 10 yards, or makes some bad playcall audibles on the run reads.
But he can’t throw interceptions. He has to show excellent judgment there.
And he can’t get injured. Needs to slide, or run about bounds before taking a hit. Heros get hurt.
Can’t try to be a hero.
David Greene had 2 streaks where he didn’t throw an interception, one went for over 200 passes, the other was close to that.
That’s all we need. Protect the football.
And if Murray doesn’t respect the fotball, Richt has to sit him, and bring in Gray or Mason to QUICKLY find someone that will.
I’m hopeful Murray will only throw 1 int every 2 games. But if throws 2 in 1 game, he has to be benched.
Georgia can’t have another Joe Cox season where Richt’s scared to bench a guy who’s not respecting the football.

It’s kind of sad to see all the Dawg fans getting so excited this year (just like the year before, the year before that, etc.). How long is it going to take for UGA fans to realize that UGA is simply no longer relevant in the SEC? In the national picture, UGA isn’t even a blip on the radar, and hasn’t
been since the preseason #1 ranking two years ago.
Sit back and be grateful for the seven or eight wins you’ll get every year. Coaching genius Mark Richt ay take you to 10-2 or even 11-1 occasionally, but Florida will still win the SEC, meaning no BCS bowls and no top 10 final ranking. Most years, UGA will be very lucky to finish in the top 25, and only after a big bowl win over a nobody opponent.
It’s a different world now, and Dawg fans, like Miami and Ole Miss fans, need to adjust their expectations downward to reflect reality.
Unfortunately nothing is going to change until UGA changes its mediocre coaching. That’s where the difference is, and that’s why everyone outside Bullsh*t Nation just laughs at Dawg fans getting so excited year after year about what a great recruiting class UGA gets. It doesn’t matter how many
blue chip high school players go to UGA, they simply don’t get the coaching they would get at Florida or Alabama, to name two schools whose programs are far ahead of UGA. And that’s not going to change as long as Mark Richt is in Athens.
Get your heads out of the sand and face reality. And mediocrity and irrelevance.
And red panties falling from the sky.

You know what cures a coaches “scared to bench a guy”? A better option.
What we can’t have is a JoeCox situation when he has to pick up the entire team and carry it on his shoulder. The only way Murray starts getting into big TO trouble (and there will be some, same as every QB in the country, especially the first year starters) is IF he doesn’t have the support around him, like was the case for most of last year, especially the first half. Replacing him at that point is only putting somebody else in that same situation, only less capable. Having a quick trigger and putting in a True freshman Mason, oh sure he can protect the football if thats all you tell him to do, but we aren’t going to win many games. Then what if he struggle, where are we going then? You just took out the guy who was on the upward learning curve and backed him up a few notches. Unless its just obvious that Murray is just never going to be SEC caliber, or isnt running the team, he’ll stick with him.

Hey, Lilburn Dawg, why don’t you put down the red panties for a while and consider this.
You Dawg fans who keep repeating “30-24″ like a mantra enjoy yourselves all you want. The thing is… Tech alumni and fans have lives that don’t depend entirely on what a bunch of kids does on Saturday afternoons. College sports are fun to follow, but the biggest reason for going to college is to get an education.
UGA fans don’t seem to care about anything but football, and they don’t care if their players are enrolled in silly majors that no parents who are paying the bills would send their kids to UGA for. The very few football and basketball players who graduate have no job opportunities and end up unemployed or working in menial jobs that hardly require a college degree.
Georgia Tech is a real school with serious academic standards, and that includes scholarshipped athletes. UGA has a long history of being a party school, where parents send their kids for an easy degree, even if the degree itself is practically worthless.
Jan Kemp exposed the crap going on at UGA with athletes being enrolled in courses a ten-year-old kid could pass. That was almost three decades ago, and nothing has changed. If anything, the abuses are more blatant today. Way too many illiterate morons are being recruited, and the very high arrest rate shows clearly that Richt does not care if his players have any morals or self-discipline.
The bottom line is that most Tech fans have very good jobs and productive lives that don’t depend on Tech’s football record for their happiness in life. It would be great to beat UGA more often, but when you put scholar-athletes up against dummy-athletes, it’s usually no contest.
It’s pretty pathetic to see UGA fans who typically have never been within miles of a college classroom and who live or die with UGA’s weekly results on the football field.
So keep on posting your “30-24″ all you want, especially since you’re home with plenty of time on your hands. I wish you well, maybe you’ll get lucky and get your old job back at the Waffle House before your unemployment checks stop coming.

Richt’s cautious optimism says a lot about his concerns for the upcoming season. I have no worries that Murray will have grasped the system having already spent a redshirt year learning. My worry is on Murray’s accuracy. I could care less if he can throw the ball 75 yards versus being able to hit that 15 yard slant in stride. You can’t teach accuracy. The scary thing is that we have no depth at QB. The good part of that is I think Bobo and Richt see that. Hopefully, this will lead to a run heavy offense vs a pass happy offense. First game will show how effective our running game will be. If we struggle there, things will be very dicey for the SC game. Bottom line, I agree that I would rather have an inexperienced QB with a veteran offense versus the other way.

But hey, Mark Richt has reversed that trend, he’s won 2 out of the last nine so that’s looking up. Freshman QB, no problem, unproven DC, no problem. Supposedly, Aaron Murray is an excellent leader (hasn’t shown it yet in either Srping by performance). He won the leadership award at Elite 11 camp, and led his team to a state championship in high school.
Here’s the thing.
He HAS to earn trust. You earn trust by showing strong decision making. If Murray knows anything about leadership, he knows that he has to just come in, and not be noticed because of his mistakes. He wants people talking about his teammates and playmakers Green, King, Ealey, Olson. Not him. If they’re talking about Murray, it’s going to be a sign he doesn’t get leadership, because the talk will be about how many mistakes he’s making.
Trying to hard leads to mistakes. Ask Cox.

How2fish, please see my 9:47 post. After his Junior year, Stafford’s stats looked much more appealing as he threw 25 TD’s and only 10 picks. That gave him something like 51 TD’s and 35 INT’s for his career. Still that averages out to 17 TD’s and right at 12 INT’s per season throughout his career if my numbers are right. Not exactly whopping numbers. Now David Greene except for one year, you are right on. I wish we could have a DG every 3-4 years!

The other day CMR was asked about Florida’s dominance and he said, “What do you want me to say? We need you to come fire up the guys before the game.”
Here’s what I want you to say CMR. I want you to say that we have dressed out the scout team in UF jersey’s just to get the feeling of what success versus those jerseys feels like. That 5 minutes of every practice is dedicated to stopping a favorite play out of the spread that UF likes to run. I want you to say that you understand that a Gator is on the lid of the program that you want to knock off. Until the Gator is butchered, the lid stays on. I want you say that you spend every waking hour thinking about how to beat the Gators. I want you to say that claiming the heat was hotter for us than them in Jax was one of the dumbest things you have ever uttered. I want you to quit complaining about where the game is and start preparing for who the game is against. I want you to acknowledge the fact that the SECE goes through Florida. I want you to admit that if you want to continue to impact the lives of young men that attend our University you are going to have to learn how to beat UF. I want you to say that Jesus appeared to you in a dream and said it was cool with him if you broke one off in UF. He’s also down with stopping the bootleg vs. UT…..

superDawg the players were not cheating. The Academis advisor made a mistake in telling the players how many classe would qulifly as progressing towards their degree. The player took to few classes before the season and tried to back load classes after the season. Tech did get punished for the mistake and have moved on. The players were not cheating like during Kemp or Harrick’s joke tests.

UGA has become a second tier school that can not compete with Florida. Alabama or any other school at a national level. For the last two years every big game has seen UGA embarrassed on national television, mostly by large scores. It also became national news when Dawg fans were seen trashing the campus for home games. Now an offseason of arrests and NCAA investigators on campus are added on. UGA football is disgraceful to most honest Georgians and gives the who state a black eye. Not a GT fan but at least their program is cleanly run and not an eyesore to the rest of the Southeast.

Well of course he prefers this to the reverse…still doesn’t discount the fact that the QB position is the most important position on the field. Its gonna be a weird year in the SEC east…the most experienced QBs are Stephen Garcia at Carolina, and Larry Smith at Vandy. The champion of the east could very well go 5-3 in conference. UF’s QB has a little bit of game experience but it was in cleanup mode…I dont see an elite team coming from the east. If they were to somehow beat the champion from the west…than the SEC would likely miss out on the BCS championship game.

There is one problem in all of this and that is if you have watched Georgia the last couple seasons, it seems to always take the O-line a few games to really get cranking. We can’t afford that this year with a Freshman QB when we’re going to have to rely on the O-line and running game so heavy early in the year.
Remember…Columbia is in week 2 and Spurrier knows that is the key to their season. The O-Line better come out playing from the get go.

Georgia Tech is a disgrace….all you do is pound your chest and tell people how great you are and then underacheive in everything you do. Tech is an embarrassment to the state of Georgia…Tech fans talk about how proud they are of their school but they sure don’t show it on Saturdays when their football stadium is only half full….. Tech needs to drop out of the ACC and petition the Southern conference for membership….but then again they probably could’nt compete with App. St., Georgia Southern and Furman. Insect Repellent….wow quite venomous with that post. As someone with ties to both schools I can firmly say the UGA and GT are both very good schools. GT is perceived as a harder school…maybe that’s why they have trouble graduating the players…and UGA is seen as a school with more academic choices…not that they are necessarily easier. GT Athletics is amazing considering the factors that play against their athletic success…such as funding, fan base, rigor of curriculum, and the absence of diverse majors for athletes…it makes recruiting very hard but they have produced a great deal of successful pros in the three major sports. UGA is the state school and has twice the enrollment with a great deal of academic diversity…you can major in essentially anything…UGA should be good at every sport but they have failed miserably at basketball….baseball and football have had a moderate amount of success. GT is not an embarrassment to the state of Georgia…they do research that saves lives and the Institute creates a great deal of jobs. Both schools are good for the state of Georgia…not many states can claim two state schools ranked in the top twenty of public institution rankings. GT and UGA are valuable assets to the state of Georgia….sure the rivalry is neat and all.. but at the end of the day these research institutions are producing the future leaders of the state of Georiga and our country….an education at either is not to be frowned upon. Both schools have had arrests, scandals, and academic fraud issues…its a revolving door.

I never understand why Tech fans think their school is such an academic gem. In the top school rankings by U.S News and World reports for 2010, Tech is not even the top academic institution in the state of georgia, that honor goes to Emory. And Ga tech is ranked 5th in the ACC! Duke, Virginia, North Carolina, and Wake Forest are all rated higher than Georgia Tech. Tech is rated a little higher than most of the SEC schools including UGA, but it’s not like Tech is considered a top notch academic school. So why do Tech fans think their school is so special when the rest of the world does not? Tech is primarily and engineering school so of course the program is going to be a little harder than the typical state university that offers a plethora of study programs. The rankings show that tech is not one of the top academic institutions in the country so quit acting like it’s something special.

I actually think UGA will be a really solid team this year. Murray is a big-time talent, who I wish would have committed to us, though he’d just be backing up Brantley now. Georgia could easily go 10-2 this year and should have a good running game as long as Ealey stays healthy (King is overrated).

Mark Richt is 3-1 against Bama with 2 of those wins coming in 2002 and 2003. Beating Mike Shula’s probation strapped Alabama teams still counts. He is 1-1 vs Saban at Alabama having won an OT game in 07 against Saban’s first team and having lost the blackout game in 2008. Georgia plays Alabama in 2011 and 2012. Might as well just make it 3-3 vs Bama and 1-3 vs Saban at Bama. That is of course if Richt still has his job in 2012. I don’t think he will. I would say Richt’s future record would be 3-4 against Bama but that would be assuming UGA would win the east and play Bama in the seccg. That will never happen as long as the Urban legend remains at UF.

stafford’s cumulative TD/INT ratio is less impressive because he had to play as a true freshman (7 TD, 13 INT). but his improvement (19/10 and 25/10 the following years) shows that CMR knows plenty about how to coach QB’s. besides, everyone knew coming in that stafford was a gunslinger type who was going to take some chances and throw some picks; he was and is a high risk/high reward kind of QB.
what about the other QB’s under CMR’s tutelage? dj shockley’s td/int ratio was 24/5 in 2005, and greene was 20/4 his senior year. cox is the exception, not the rule. CMR knows plenty about coaching QB’s.

UGA finished a respectable 18th, not too bad, however… Georgia Tech finished 16th(that’s SIXTEENTH) in the NCAA. Florida’s has been up around 5 to 1, Georgia has been down around 2.0 Alabama’s was 4 to 1.

You do it every year. 17/20 and you think it will change because of a redshirt freshman qb. By week 3, you will be screaming like last year for someone else to take over.

Mark Richt is the best coach UGA could ever have. A fantastic coach and a fine leader of young men. Better sign him to a long term contract before some other school hires him away. By the way, since Richt says, “what do you want me to do?” is there going to be a drawing before this years UF/UGA game to see who gets to go in the locker room and fire up the team or will a search team be created to find that special someone?

B-Dog, During A recent visit to the States of Alabama and North Carolina I encountered relatives and engaged in a discussion about college football. When the topic of UGA football came up, both parties from said states began to make fun of UGA and called it an outlaw school with no disciplne. Just like most UGA fans, you point out some meaningless english infraction to cover up the real issue. I will make sure and proofread for english errors next time, NOT.

The last time UGA started a freshman quarterback during a season they lost 4 times, and that was with the future number one pick in the draft. There is no reason to expect Aaron Murray to be any better. And based on his height, or lack thereof, no one will ever confuse him with being the number one pick in the draft. Get ready UGA fans for a lot of 9 man front because your QB will not be able see over the lineman to throw those quick slants on blitzes.

Lilburn Dawg – Kind of sensitive, aren’t we? You and your family are prime example of why UGA degrees are worth so little, you have to get a graduate degree just to get a job. I’m not saying that UGA alumni can’t get good jobs, they just can get good jobs with a UGA bachelor degree – WORTHLESS. You’re better off going to Athens technical college. However, UGA law school, MBA program – pretty good. But UGA’s undergraduate degrees are LAUGHABLE.

The New Orleans Saints have a qb by the name of Drew Brees, you may have heard of him. He’s shorter than murray and if I had to guess their lineman are bigger and taller than ours. He seems to be just fine seeing over the line. (Now that’s a reality check)
As far as comparing matt stafford’s freshman year to murray’s. Murray has an extra year in the system and he has veteran players around him. Reality Check when you have a legit argument come back and talk I’ll be here.

Another reference to UGA fans being “delusional.” If you don’t think every fan base has delusional fans, then you probably buy “I’m from the government and I’m here to help you,” or “The check is in the mail.”
Today’s examples of delusional fans show how far back this thing has been going on. Back before the internet, in 1980 you had Bama fans calling Atlanta talk radio and claiming their recruit Lenny Patrick was as good as UGA incoming Herschel Walker. Needless to say, that sort of thing stopped after 1980.
Second example, also referring to Bama. From hearing them gush over QB recruit Freddie Kitchens, I am guessing I missed his induction into the College Hall of Fame.
Yes, Gators you have delusional fans also. Forgive us if we insist you play the season before being crowned national champs, and giving Brantley the Heisman.

UGA folks can brag all you want to about beating Tech in football most years, and that’s perfectly fair. What’s also fair is to point out that with a history of Jan Kemp (Vince Dooley days), Jim Harrick, and now Damon Evans, the UGA Athletic Department is truly “The Cesspool of the South,” and is richly deserving of that title. No one outside of Georgia has any respect for your University or your Athletic Department, and that is a fact. It has been said many times: “Tech people are proud of their school, Georgia people are proud of their football team.” What a legacy to be proud of!

Fish Fry…your right but not all the way…Tech ranks 5th in the ACC in terms of academics but that’s not really a bad thing. Look at the schools that make up the ACC….UNC, Duke, Virginia, and Wake Forest are tip top liberal arts schools with top ranked law schools and top ranked medical schools…if GT was in the SEC they would only be second to Vanderbilt. Tech is absolutely one of the finest academic institutions in the nation with top ranked programs in engineering, science, architecture, and surprisingly business. They routinely rank in the top ten of all public institutions and are among the national leaders in research conducted. People from all across the world would not come to Atlanta if Tech was not a world renowned school…who cares what some nimrod from UGA thinks…I have a UGA and Tech degree…give Tech its due respect…they truly are an academic power house…a very valuable asset to the state of Georgia. UGA is important too as they produce the lawyers and other valuable professions that keep our bureaucracy running. The research conducted and the engineers that are produced at GT travel across the country and world…people know what Georgia Tech is…they know a GT grad is likely to be a “bright” person…its kind of ironic that they get more respect outside of the state of Georgia. Both schools are great institutions but GT is world renowned..they all have their important place in our state…with out GT…Georgia truly would be the laughing stock of the nation…engineers are necessary…just like doctors and lawyer…they all serve their place…I dont know why it has to be a contest though. No shame in a degree from either school.

Carolina? when was the last time they won anything in football?…thier best players leave the state every year.
90% of the people on this blog don’t know sh-t about CMR, Tech, Florida or Bama…it’s only thier opinion…and you know what they say about opinions don’t you?… I’m surprised that all the Florida fans aren’t football coaches somewhere…they all sound like they got all the answers. And those Tech fans really sound like children with inferiority complexes toward Georgia. I’d be willing to bet the Florida fans that at least 30% of the players on the gators roster couldn’t get in Georgia if they tried……Urban Liar has them all taking the same classes taught by the same professors that cater to the Florida football team….Florida is a joke as a school and program….and Urban Liar is an insecure idiot. All his coaches bailed out on him this past year after Tebow left because they coundn’t stand to be around him….he’s a pompous ass who takes credit for everyone elses hard work…he has abosolutely no integrity..but most Florida fans can’t see it because they don’t have any either……So Florida fans and Tech fans I’d be leary of the future…cause when Georgia beats your team this year we dawg fans are going to have a field day pounding on your ass…its gonna happen…believe me…its gonna happen….and deep down inside you know it!

Insect Repellant, you can laugh all you want to, but Alabama and Coach Saban have a clean program, since his first year you do not see multiple arrests at UA like the rogue program in Athens. You UGA fans can bury your head in the sand but everyone else views you as the MiamI Hurricanes from 20 years ago without the championships to back it up. I repeat, I am not a GT fan so quit bashing their program to defect the real truth. Your program is on the decline and will now look at 7-8 wins a year. Nothing wrong with that but it is a shame to win like that without class. UGA has gone down hill since the endzone celebration against UF in 2007. Must be karma or something.

Criticize UGA for not having a national championship under Richt, for only averaging 10 wins a season, for only having 2 SEC titles in 9 years, for only having six Top Ten finishes in 9 years, but to criticize them as being irrelevant makes no logical sense. If they were irrelevant, rivals would not be on here posting that they are irrelevant. How many people go on Vandy or Duke football sites to be critical of them? I would guess it is very few.

All of you people who blame Cox for last year are clueless – his stats were almost as good as Stafford’s and the reason he threw so many picks is because when you’re behind 21 – 0 in the first quarter you more or less have to abandon the run game and start slinging it – lack of defense will cause a QB to throw a lot more than nesessary and set him up for failure – what you should be saying is THANK GOODNESS for Cox last year because if not for him and some of his unreal scoring binges we would have been 5 – 8 and not 8 – 5. CMR took care of the real problem and dumped the defensive waste material. I agree he should have done it sooner – but – at least it is done now. This year will be better – and for all of you who think that UGA is a midpack program or suddenly irrelevant – you obviously don’t know how to read CMR’s record and stats at UGA – he is an ELITE coach any way you look at it. I believe Murray will be the positive surprise of the year in college football, if he stays healthy and the coaches aggressively develop him! My fear is that the staff will try to limit him because we have a good offense around him. Witness the South Carolina game for the last three years. All three years they loaded 7-9 guys in the box (much of the time) and they blitzed us like crazy. They shut down and beat what became the number two team in the country (us) in 07 in Athens (we were 11 at the time, I believe, and we had Moreno and Stafford), and they almost beat us in 08 when we were ranked in the top five. They were pretty effective at shutting down Moreno and Stafford both years. Then in 09, when our staff had little confidence in the rest of the O, we opened it up and went up the field on SC and we lit up the scoreboard. If the staff sits back and tries to run their way through SC, ARK, and MSU, we will likely get stuffed. They are going to have to take it up the field with Murray from day one in my humble opinion.

And watch and see if we dont lose to either SC or Arkansas or both
You cant teach an old dawg new tricks
Richt has shown that he is stubborn, i.e Willie Martinez, short kickofffs for years, not wanting to play freshman that can play, conservative play calling against FL and the list goes on

Bloggers (Fans?) continue to be skeptical about UGA’s up comming season and with good reason. Two seasons back, UGA was preseason # 1, Richt had promoted himself to CEO, and delegated Offensive & Defensive responsibilites, which for the most part was a disappointment in results. Not only has UGA been unable to produced the unexpected, they have not produced the expected. There has been the annual destruction in Jacksonsville, the total destruction in Athens by Al., the embrassing loses to Tech & Kentucky in Athens. Usually UGA would give a good accounting for themselves even when they lost. In the last 2 yrs they appeared to be unfocused, unprepared, prone to injuries,(conditioning maybe)and behavorial problems. Richt is the best coach UGA has ever had. but his success maybe his downfall. He showed us what a good teams could do and then showed us what bad teams cannot do. He refused to acknowledge or address problems, especially on defense and special teams. Problems that most fans with all their limitations could detect. He is a fine person, he is a smart coach & he can win the big ones, but he may have a higher calling. This season will be interesting.

Who cares about red panties and what happens off the field.

Nice point Ryan. Speaking of being beat in bowls. GT fans love to write “shreveport” all over these blogs. Might want to take a look at some of the bowls you’ve been in lately, sans last year. Also, your record in those games is nearly as bad as your record vs. UGA the last 9 years (2-6). By the way, GT if 0-5 in their last 5 bowl games. If that does not scream “program on the rise”, I don’t know what does.

SOAD,
Don’t forget the best place kicker in the country, a killer running game and revamped (and by all accounts, very well revamped) defense. And by the way, Murray “the midget”, is 1 inch shorter than the NFL QB who has passed for the most yards in the league 2 years in a row, was the 3rd ranked QB recruit in the country and won the MVP of the elite QB camp. You have no idea what you are talking about.

http://www.collegelunchboxes.com Murray will have a much better line then Stafford did at this same stage of their college playing days. This will be a very eye opening season not only for us Dawg fans but for the whole SEC. The sound that they will hear will be the sound of the Bulldog Express roaring into thr station. Don’t forget your granddaughter’s birthday get her a UGA classic tin lunchbox so she has a place to keep her hair ribbons and still support her favorite school. Bring them up right. Available online and at Kroger. Go Dawgs!!!

i would hate for people to make generalizations about georgia fans on the basis of the stuff that goes on on these message boards, so i won’t let your obnoxious hectoring or failure to grasp the elementary principles of grammar diminish the respect i have for tech as an academic and athletic institution (one who doesn’t respect his rival doesn’t respect himself). but you should know that they’re doing wonderful things at mental institutions these days.
and yeah yeah, i’m ugag or ugay or i’ve been to jail or whatever else. i may be a georgia fan, but you’ll always be an idiot.

Ryan, my facts are right. You need to read more closely. I was referring to the two seasons since Richt became CEO(2008 & 2009)

“Criticize UGA for not having a national championship under Richt, for only averaging 10 wins a season, for only having 2 SEC titles in 9 years, for only having five Top Ten finishes in 9 years, but to criticize them as being irrelevant makes no logical sense.”
Sure it does.
# 22 in 2001 Final AP Poll, lost 4 games including bowl game against lousy Boston College
# 3 in 2002 Final AP Poll, lost to Florida, won SEC Championship Game vs 5-loss Arkansas who was not even ranked in the Top 25 Final AP Poll, got to play 5-loss FSU in bowl game
# 7 in 2003 Final AP Poll, lost to LSU twice & Florida, Lost SEC Championship Game, played lousy Purdue in bowl game
# 7 in 2004 Final AP Poll, Lost to Auburn & vols, no SEC Championship Game, played lousy Wisconsin in bowl game
# 10 in 2005 Final AP Poll, won SEC Championship, lost West Virginia bowl game
# 23 in 2006 Final AP Poll, lost 4 games vs SEC East in a row including to 4-win Vandie (4-8), no SEC Championship Game
# 2 in 2007 Final AP Poll, lost to South Carolina at our house a lousy 6-6 team not even in a bowl game, lost to vols in blow-out to take UGA out of anything early on in the season and this completed a 6-game Losing Streak to every SEC East team consecutively, played lousy # 19 Final AP Poll Hawaii in bowl game, no SEC Championship Game
# 13 in 2008 Final AP Poll Ranked # 1 Lost to all 3 good teams all season allowing 29 42 31 consecutive points, played lousy Michigan State in bowl game, no SEC Championship Game
Not Ranked 2009 Final AP Poll 5 Lost no SEC Championship Game
That is irrelevant, on the National Stage to have beat Not 1 Top 10 Final AP Poll team in ANY bowl game all 9 years.
“Oh, we average 10 wins.”
7 of the 9 years are 14-game seasons. And, we won 10

I like the fact that we do had a experience off. Line , this will play a big part in the growth of Aaron of course and the fours studs we have in the back field . And what is being said about this kid well I think the furture is looking good , he has got the leader in him and is very smart football player .

Jacketbrave,
Please don’t call other commentators dumb, given the drivel you’ve been spewing here. Retarded 8 year olds could write better and make more sense then you! Perhaps, you sipped to much of that wine you’re drinking in your “mansion”–yeah, right.

Murray is going to be fine. I suspect he’ll be better than that. If you know football and have actually seen the kid play you know this — he has good feet, a quick release, and a much stronger arm than people seem to give him credit for. He puts some zip on the ball. Could he be a bust? Sure, but Coach Richt knows quarterbacks and nothing in his history says he will be.
BTW– I have to say that some of these posts from the trolls and ranters are entertaining but only because they are so stupid. Some of you Tech boys and Richt haters need to get a life.

Individual schools do NOT schedule their own bowl game….You are an idiot. The teams you considered “lousy” would beat your team. Also, when you list how many loses a team has, please include that one of those was to UGA in THAT bowl game. You are great at spinning!!

Would not be surprised to see the dawgs run the table this year. They appear to be loaded and the schedule looks a lot friendlier this season.

Well what do you know? Looks like I have to go to Atlanta for a conference next month. Could fly, but I’ll drive instead…gives me a reason to detour through Athens and look over my hedges and new turf. Keep them watered, Dawgs, it’s hot in July!

we also need to be more disciplined in on and off the field. If a player is called for a serious 15 yard penalty sit him out of the game or sit him down for the next two plays. And if called for two offsides penalties then sit him don for the quarter. It is time to gain more respect for UGA. ARREST = KICKED OFF TEAM!!!

Now to the subject : Aaron Murray, red shirt fr. QB for the University of Georgia. 2010 will be a very good year to be a BULLDOG !! The young QB will have so much firepower around him, all he will need to do is learn the position with “live” bulletts flying. Aaron Murray is a winner, and IMHO will be the next David Green………..the kid has “it”…………and “it” is awfully hard to stop………GO DOGS !!! GATA…………SIC’ ‘EM WOOF……..WOOF………WOOF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you. CMR should set a standard at the beginning of the season that no matter who you are, if you are out downtown and get arrested or anything your off the team. You are here to play football and go to school. M-F you study and practice. Sat is game, Sat night you recover and rest. Sunday you rest and study. Monday back at it again. No excuses, if you want to party and raise hell, get off the team.

12-2, I love you man! I love UGA long time. Since early 60’s. I feel that you may be wasting your time. UGA fans listen! UGA is wasting time on CMR. As a coach, he is inept. UGA deserves better.
UGA has facilities, fan base, and recruiting base as good as any program in the country. We do not have a coach that equals. Tell me this. Have you heard of ANY school that has tried to hire CMR away? What about any of his assistants? His old school FSU changed coaches. I never heard CMR mentioned. The school he played at, Miami, changed coaches. CMR not mentioned. Nobody wants him. Is UGA stuck with him? How long? UGA fans deserve better. Any coach can win 8,9 games at UGA. WE should be in the SEC and NC race every year! FLA solved their coaching problem. So did ALA. UGA needs to solve our coaching problem. GO DOGS. Get a proven head coach now.
