Game time set for UGA football opener

HOOVER, Ala. – Georgia’s football season opener vs. Louisiana-Lafayette Sept. 4 in Sanford Stadium will start at 12:21 p.m. and be televised by the SEC Network, UGA said today.

This means Georgia’s first three games will be early starts. The Sept. 11 game at South Carolina and the Sept. 18 game against Arkansas in Athens were previously announced as noon starts on either ESPN or ESPN2.

Times also were previously announced for two other UGA games: The Oct. 2 game at Colorado will begin at 4:30 p.m. (ET) on Fox Sports Net and the Oct. 30 game vs. Florida in Jacksonville at 3:30 p.m. on CBS.

Kickoff times for the remaining Georgia games generally won’t be announced until 12 days in advance, per the SEC’s television deals.

Shoot as a dawg season ticket holder I am upset. Who cares about tv for this game??? It is a creampuff team that we will massacre with third team if needed. This should be an evening game to avoid the heat!

Yea DFL, but you could also look at that as a good opportunity to get accustomed to the 12:00 heat we will be facing the 2 weeks after that as well. Could be an advantage if you look at it another way.

SEC Network is Peachtree TV. Should be Comcast (ch 802 in HD). Not sure about Charter, satellite, etc. But regardless….look for Peachtree TV which is the SEC Network.

OK. Here’s a math quizz everyone needs to figure out before the season opener against Little Mary Sunshine and Her Disabled (blind/crippled/mentally-challenged) Sister: If the stadium is packed with 92,000-plus, it’s 100 degrees at kick-off and no one hast been drinking water on the way to their seat, how long will it take for all the ice, water and gatoraid vendors to run out of hydrating liquids?

NCAA restriction: the Waterboy is ineligible for this quizz.

I predict the leghumpers, coached by an overly tanned Helen Hunt, to finish 6 and 6 and not even make it to Shreveport this time around. Meanwhile the new sheriff returns to Athens, site of the last time we kicked the pups in the arse, and runs that town.

Look for GT to repeat as ACC champs and play in yet another BCS bowl.

Good times on the Flats!

Goldenrod,
I’m going to resist the urge to make fun of your moniker and point out that Tech actually has a better chance of making it Shreveport than UGA does because the SEC is no longer affiliated with that bowl. I understand you’re excited about the upcoming season, but let’s get real for a second. If you’re going to try to insult someone’s team, at least know what the worst case scenario is for that team. Finally, playing in another BCS bowl would be great, if you could win a bowl game. Regardless, good luck until we see you in Athens.

First off, UGA will not go to Shreveport because ACC teams are now locked into it for 2010.. All reasonably savvy college football fans know this by now but reasonably savvy obviously does not include idiot Yech fans. Secondly, if Yech is lucky enough to win the A SHE SHE (some cream puff team has to win it, why not Yech) then they will once again be exposed as a weak imitation of a real college football team. How is this good?

Goldenrod, last time I checked the Dawgs still owned the wreck and look to make it 9 out of 10 this year.

Ask the tech secondary what chasing King and Ealey all night long from behind looks like! 339 rushing yards over the best the ACC had to offer.

Goldenrod,

It is comical how you refer to Tech playing in “yet another BCS Bowl” seeing as how prior to the Jackets wetting the bed against Iowa GT had never been to a BCS bowl.

Early kickoffs are awful. The summer sun is going to be blazing for the first 2 home games. Might as well play in front of an empty stadium b/c the home crowd advantage is going to be non-existent.

I think I’ll show up late for both games just to prove a point.

For all you Dawg haters–During the Mark Richt era (2001-present), which SEC team has the best record? Alabama, Florida, LSU, Tennessee? Wrong! The answer is 1.Georgia 91-26, 2.LSU 91-27, 3 Fla. (90-27). Check it out! So Mark Richt is a bad coach, huh! So Georgia is just mediocre, huh! Granted they haven’t won the National Championships but only a few teams did during that period. I’m not saying they are better than Fla., Ala, Lsu, etc. But to have the best record in the toughest conference ain’t too shabby! I’ll bet Ga. Tech and most other teams would love to have that record. would love to have that record
