ATHENS — This statement was just received from Damon Evans:
“I would like to once again offer my sincerest apology to the University of Georgia people — the president and administration, athletic staff and coaches, fans and supporters, and especially the student-athletes. It had been my hope since taking the job in 2004 that I would have a long career at UGA.
“But because of a serious mistake in judgment, that won’t be the case, and I understand that I have a long road to rebuilding my reputation and career.
“I do want to thank all those who have supported me and the Athletic Association over the past six years and would encourage all those in our Association to remember that they are there for the student-athletes. Keep them first and foremost in everything you do. God bless and ‘Go Dawgs.’”

Those of you enjoy the Pulpwood Smith reference that pops up from time to time should read the bio on John Dewberry. That one is my favorite.

Evans owed the Bulldawg faithful an apology and delivered one. To those people wanting an apology to his wife/family – he doesn’t owe you that. He owes that to them, and hopefully he has delivered that privately and repeatedly over the last 72 hours. But, that’s his business. Time for us all to move on.

Damon….that last part about “putting the student athlete foremost in everything you do”….too bad that wasn’t a part of your actual way of living….if it was…and you really believed that…you would still be the AD at the U of GA. Therefore, just meaningless words coming from you now. A better ending statement would have been…..”Remember, student athletes, to always don’t do as I did (even though I said to do something different than I did). And never, never listen to anything I ever say or write again because I absolutely don’t mean anything I say or write…because I need to say and write things to make myself look better so I can maybe get another high paying job in the future.” Good luck with that part, Damon.

Tampa Gator – You come across as a smug, embittered person. It’s easy to criticize and ridicule. We get your point, you hate UGA and Christians. That’s your perogative but if you think the rest of us are impressed by your rhetoric, think again.

UGA folks can brag all you want to about beating Tech in football most years, and that’s perfectly fair. What’s also fair is to point out that with a history of Jan Kemp (Vince Dooley days), Jim Harrick, and now Damon Evans, the UGA Athletic Department is truly “The Cesspool of the South”, and is richly deserving of that title. No one ouside of Georgia has any respect for your University or your Athletic Department, and that is a fact. It has been said many times: “Tech people are proud of their school, Georgia people are proud of their football team”. What a legacy to be proud of!

Dawgs30814…..I expect most Dawg memories of this sad event will be seriously jogged when much of the Gator side in Jax will be waving in red….as in red panties….all for fun, of course.
