ATHENS -–The UGA Athletic Association board of directors’ executive committee this morning approved a settlement that will pay departing athletics director Damon Evans three months salary as severance, plus a $100,000 longevity bonus earned under his previous contract.
UGA President Michael Adams told the board that Evans submitted his resignation, “which I have accepted,” on Sunday.
The meeting, by teleconference, lasted about 15 minutes, most of that in executive — closed — session.
“As I said on Thursday morning, when I first learned of the situation, this is not an example of the kind of leadership that I expect our senior administrators to set,” Adams told the committee.
“We acknowledge the many positive accomplishments of [Evans'] tenure, including an increased focus on the academic success of student-athletes, the overall financial strength of the athletic department and the hiring of many very good people as head coaches and senior leaders in the athletic department.”
Adams said he would not answer questions from the media about the matter and the future leadership of the athletics department until a 2 p.m. news conference on Tuesday.
According to the separation agreement signed by Evans and Adams on Sunday, the Athletic Association agreed to continue to pay Evans his salary for the next three months, totaling about $137,500. In addition, he is to be paid a $100,000 longevity bonus called for in his previous contract on Aug. 1.
In the agreement, Evans “releases and forever discharges” the university, the Athletic Association and the state “from any and all claims.” He also agreed to a confidentiality provision regarding “all matters leading up to this Release Agreement,” and both parties — Evans and UGA — agreed to make “no statements . . . which are disparaging, critical or negative toward each other or any of their agents, employees or students.”
The agreement also stipulates that Evans “will receive a reference mutually agreed-to by the President of the University and Evans.”

What do you think Adams, Morehead, Bishop or any of the rest of the UGAA would do if they were sitting next to her with no pantys on? What would you anonymous cowards and likely members of the KKK do?
The secret corrupt worthless cesspool UGAA is now going to rubber stamp an agreement their lawyer made on Sundae to pay millions of dollars to him for his misbehavior not because of anything that bad he did, but because he made them look bad in public. He exposed them to public ridicule which they rarely receive but badly deserve.
He now has a golden opportunity to raid their treasury and teach them a lesson they will never forget and possibly even shut them down at UGA. He is likely too stupid to do this and understand his strong position right now. Any organization which sends its lawyer to rush an agreement on a Sunday afternoon, possibly without his own council present, is obviously very very scared and afraid of a court fight and the ensuing bad publicity. Evans is holding the cards but is likely to cowardly and stupid to play his hand.

Evans didn’t deserve anything but a boot in the ass. He is a disgrace. The UGA BOD are a bunch of clowns. $100k+, give me a break. He should have been fired for violation of moral turpitude clause. What the hell was he doing with her panties in his lap. Some lame crap from him. hopefully his wife will divorce him and take all his money. Glad he’s gone…maybe he can get a job sweeping streets..

Doesn’t sound like they tried to buy DE’s silence about all these shady dealings that occupy the minds of the conspiracy theorists. Could be we have a reasonably sound and ethical program afterall … tho Adams is an a**hole anyway.

Adams has made under the table deals before. Maybe Damon is waiting to figure what the wife is going to do before he gets illegal money under the table from Adams to keep his mouth shut. Public money is fair game for Mrs. Evans to go after, but the crap Adams hides to pay Damon to stay quite will be all his tax free.

The University of Georgia, sadly, has fallen almost irretrievably beyond hope. The salaciousness of the charges against Evans are a sad embarrassment to all that is the University of Georgia. Stanford University wins the NACDA Director’s Cup every single year, with scholar-athletes, while the University of Georgia comes in, at best, number 17-18, or so. And Stanford is NOT engaged in all the sordid affairs, as UGA is. This is a sad moment and I sorely pray the University can somehow move beyond this. However, this will take leadership which I believe is sorely lacking!

I’m a Tech guy and really think this is a tragedy that I’m sorry happened to Damon and UGA. It’s unfortunate he could not handle either the stress of the position or the fame he received. This does not reflect on UGA at all. It could happen anywhere. I thought he was a very nice guy. I’ve met and talked with him a couple of times. I really feel sorry for his wife and kids. He has a beautiful family. He had it all. I’m am sorry it happened, but when you are in the limelight, there is no place to hide.

Damon Evans will have to do a lot of soul-searching as his job and, possibly his marriage, comes to an end. It’s unfortunate that any University would have to witness such events. Stronger values and more mature minds will prevail. GATruth: you’re an imbecile

Let’s be in no rush to name a successor and get the right person this time. Unfortunately, Damon is no different than a lot of people in power; the inflated ego gets you everytime and you trhink you are above reproach. What a shame all of these peolpe are so-called role models for our youth.
UGA fans will take a lot of kidding from our rivals, and if the shoe were on the other foot, we would be doing the ribbing as well. it’s all just talk anyway, so it amounts to nothing.

The higher you go… the higher the standards!
Evans didn’t realize that and LOST (his words on the jumbotron at Sanford Stadium). His fault period? He KNEW BETTER yet chose the easy path. He has had it made, his THIN RESUME for AD was overlooked by his skin color. The “dumbing down” and low standards are the end results and an ugly black eye on the “Bull Dog Nation” is minimal comparing to what the fallout would have been if he was allowed to continue the “Big Lie.”

This is actually a cheap escape for the University- we could have spent more than this on legal fees if he had dug in and played the race card.
“A man of wisdom”- Stanford wins the NCAA Director’s Cup because of the NUMBER of sports teams that they field compared to other schools- not because of a great level of success. A lot of their “points” are defaults because less prosperous schools aren’t fielding teams in water polo, field hockey, etc.
As a postscript, I hope this will cause the Regents and the AA to look inward at the public way that several of the members disparage the institution with their lifestyles.

I cannot even come close to containing how much I hate FUGA, and I constantly expect this “quality of character” from a high school that only copies what others have done (logo comes from Green Bay, song is a hymn, etc). The people that come to mind are “The Runaway Bride”, the guy that ran “up the down escalator” and shut down Atlanta airport, the guy with TB that caused an international scare when he uld boarded a plane, and I could go on but the subject discusts and bores me. FUGA is like having a child that cries constantly. They’re CHEAP – and they don’t care if they are.
