Police report damning for Georgia AD Damon Evans
The police report from the Georgia State Patrol officer who arrested Damon Evans in Atlanta Wednesday and it’s a damning document for the Georgia athletics director.
According to the report, filed by GSP Officer Mark Cabe, Evans’ black BMW was weaving noticeably on Roswell Road, which initiated Cabe to U-turn his cruiser and execute a stop. After Evans pulled into a parking space at the corner of Roswell Road and Chastain Drive, Cabe reports that he “noticed that the subject had a pair of lady’s red panties between his legs.” Later in the report Evans admits that the panties belonged to his passenger, 28-year-old Courtney Fuhrmann of Atlanta.
“She took them off and I held them because I was just trying to get her home,” Evans said, according to police.
While trying to conduct a field sobriety test on Evans, Cabe reports that Fuhrmann got out of the passenger side of the car several times despite instructions from both the officer and from Evans to remain in the vehicle. After failing to obey a final warning, Fuhrmann was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
“I have a young lady and she is intoxicated and I am just trying to get her home,” Evans reportedly told the officer.
Police report that Evans failed a field sobriety test. “Used his vehicle for balance” and “subject kept his left heel on the ground almost the entire test . . . after instructed (to hold it) approximately 6 inches of the ground,” reads the report.
Evans refused a breathalyzer, then began to plead with the officer.
“I am not trying to bribe you but I am the athletic director of the University of Georgia,” the officer reports.
“The subject admitted again that he’d been drinking and started crying,” McCabe writes. Evans asked the officer to take him to a motel.
“I am not going to bribe you but is there anything you can do without arresting me?,” Evans asked, according to police.
When off-loading Fuhrmann at the jail, the officer asked her how long she had been seeing Evans. “Only a week ago,” she replied, according to police.
Fuhrmann also stated: “I promise you one thing: He will get off. . . . It will be erased because he is the Athletic Director of UGA and he has that power.”
Upon dropping off Evans at the jail, “the subject began crying uncontrollably,” the police report says.

Now that we’re in the off-season, wouldn’t this be the perfect time to take an in-depth look at UGA and have a free-ranging discussion about the problems at UGA and why the arrest rate of players is the highest in the country? And I’m not even including the AD or other drunkards in the athletic office. It’s common knowledge that UGA is a party school, but have any football players every actually graduated with a real degree? Jan Kemp exposed the school and the coaches more than two decades ago, but there is no sign that anything has improved; if anything, the arrest rate shows that things are getting more outrageous every year while Mark Richt has no clue what to do.
UGA has become a major embarrassment to all Georgians, and we want some answers starting now. I genuinely believe that the ugly mutt died of this embarrassment.

In a state of money sucking right-wing Baptist hypocrits in towns where the mayor is scre#ing the preachers wife, I can see Damon being fired.
However, in all, I see this as extremely bad judgment but not something to be fired over. He was polite and the girl may have just been someone that he was giving a ride. He might have done this more than once. Maybe his night away from home. Nothing points to an adultry based affair. I am a family man but I would not want someone to know everything that I do.
He should be reprimanded but nothing more. I do think that this type of event is a public issue. The media has become one big stinking a$$ tabloid that respects nothing, not even themselves..
I will say this. Arrest the guy fine. But Bubba Barney in sunglasses got a little out of hand. Damon did’nt show for the Chattahoochee Bulldog Club meeting back in April. Supposedly there was a conflict in his schedule. After the meeting, I did see a flash Beemer with some red pantaloons protruding out of it’s passenger window, as though it was some sort of breezy banner. Unfortunately we are once again exposed to tarnished public figures. Should I be complelled to feel sorry for his plight, including possible job loss…Not a chance! Everyone in life, including myself, has made grave errors in judgment. It is more important than won / loss record because while won / loss records might not have been up to # 11 All-Time Program in 1-A wins’ standards over the last 4 years, they could turn with a great season from Caleb King and from Aaron Murray. The rest of the team is sound.
