Police report damning for Georgia AD Damon Evans
The police report from the Georgia State Patrol officer who arrested Damon Evans in Atlanta Wednesday and it’s a damning document for the Georgia athletics director.
According to the report, filed by GSP Officer Mark Cabe, Evans’ black BMW was weaving noticeably on Roswell Road, which initiated Cabe to U-turn his cruiser and execute a stop. After Evans pulled into a parking space at the corner of Roswell Road and Chastain Drive, Cabe reports that he “noticed that the subject had a pair of lady’s red panties between his legs.” Later in the report Evans admits that the panties belonged to his passenger, 28-year-old Courtney Fuhrmann of Atlanta.
“She took them off and I held them because I was just trying to get her home,” Evans said, according to police.
While trying to conduct a field sobriety test on Evans, Cabe reports that Fuhrmann got out of the passenger side of the car several times despite instructions from both the officer and from Evans to remain in the vehicle. After failing to obey a final warning, Fuhrmann was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
“I have a young lady and she is intoxicated and I am just trying to get her home,” Evans reportedly told the officer.
Police report that Evans failed a field sobriety test. “Used his vehicle for balance” and “subject kept his left heel on the ground almost the entire test . . . after instructed (to hold it) approximately 6 inches of the ground,” reads the report.
Evans refused a breathalyzer, then began to plead with the officer.
“I am not trying to bribe you but I am the athletic director of the University of Georgia,” the officer reports.
“The subject admitted again that he’d been drinking and started crying,” McCabe writes. Evans asked the officer to take him to a motel.
“I am not going to bribe you but is there anything you can do without arresting me?,” Evans asked, according to police.
When off-loading Fuhrmann at the jail, the officer asked her how long she had been seeing Evans. “Only a week ago,” she replied, according to police.
Fuhrmann also stated: “I promise you one thing: He will get off. . . . It will be erased because he is the Athletic Director of UGA and he has that power.”
Upon dropping off Evans at the jail, “the subject began crying uncontrollably,” the police report says.

DE had to be drunk. How much time does it take to remove a pair of red panties from between your legs ? Perhaps he was so engrossed he forgot they were there, but that lack of judgement points more to the alcohol influence, Blue light in my rear view mirror and I’m ditching the sticky undergarments somewhere else, as fast as I can. Talk about a fall from grace. Damon should have learned from all of Tiger’s travails. When you occupy a position of high profile, you better act as though your private life isn’t. Better to enjoy the simple life of family and friends but power and pride always seem to be the undoing of many.
In connection with this incident, I’ve read some backhanded remarks toward Christian morals as though Christ is responsible for hypocracy and errant behavior. People are fallible, not God. We are fortunate to have a head coach who sets a high standard for right living as an example to his impressionable players. We should find an AD that does likewise.

While Damon Evans may deserve to lose his job, I really feel for him losing his family and life as well. He will pay for this for the rest of his life and it just makes me sad because I have a wife and kids and couldn’t imagine going through that. Seeing all of the distasteful comments from righteous bloggers is equally disturbing…what has our world come to?

Damon Evans you always gave the perception of having true class, intelligence and integrity. Sadly, your perception of true class and your accomplishments at UGA have been completely tarnished and somewhat destroyed overnight. I hope and pray you seek out the professional and spiritual help that will be sorely needed to repair your marriage and the hurt you have caused for your own innocent children. Damon your career with UGA is sadly over, but there is not an AD position in the entire country more important than your wife and children. Do not save your future and career with Georgia, save your marriage and your family….in the end, that’s all that matters! My prayers are with you, your children and your entire family!

No University in this Country deserves to have a story like this break on them July 4th weekend. It is apparent after so many similar stories that no one learns anything from other peoples’ screw-ups. A last demonstration of integrity would have been his immediate resignation, and not forcing his firing. My deepest sympathy goes out to Mrs Evans and her kids; the only totally innocents in this crap-fest. Good luck.

Compassion for Evans??! Did he show compassion to the trainer he fired who was engaged to the pregnant cheerleader? No. Did he show compassion to the Christian Cheerleading Coach he fired, who did NOTHING wrong & is now PAID by FCA to pray with the cheerleaders under her wing? NO. And Damon has harrassed a female associate AND was caught having sex with a UGA Athletic intern named Many in 2005. He was almost out then. Check UGA police open records….he’s been harrassing a female LATELY. UGA sent “someone” to another internship at Nike in Oregon. And the kicker? His first act as AD was to discharge three long-term employees who worked in the office. Although they never had show a sign of dishonesty or disloyalty, Evans had them walked off the job by the armed security force. It was a punk act by a 34 yo ticket taker who was moved to AD as a affirmative action hire because he was guaranteed to be Adams’ lackey. UGA should have found a real AD candidate who had been trained at a quality program. They passed over a UGA grad but did not want to hire him because he apprenticed at UF. They reap what they sowed six years ago because of an incredibly poor hiring of an AD.
More evidence that Adams can run a two-car funeral.
