Dogs match Tide, Gators on Phil Steele’s preseason All-SEC teams

College football’s preseason hype is flowing at full force.  Analyst/publisher Phil Steele’s various preseason All-America and all-conference teams came out this week. Georgia is well represented.

The Bulldogs have six players on the  preseason All-SEC first team, tying Alabama for the most, and 14 selections on the four all-conference teams combined, tying Florida for the most.

Also, Georgia has two players on the preseason All-America first team –- one of five schools with two or more — and five players on the four All-America teams.

Here are the details on Georgia’s representation on the Phil Steele College Football preseason teams:

All-America first team: Wide receiver A.J. Green and punter Drew Butler.

All-America second team: Placekicker Blair Walsh.

All-America third team: Offensive tackle Clint Boling.

All-America fourth team: Kickoff returner Brandon Boykin.

All-SEC first team: Green, Boling, Boykin (as kickoff returner), Walsh, Butler and outside linebacker Justin Houston.

All-SEC second team: center Ben Jones, offensive guard Cordy Glenn and running back Washaun Ealey.

All-SEC third team: Tight end Orson Charles, offensive guard Chris Davis, linebacker Marcus Dowtin and Boykin (as cornerback).

All-SEC fourth team: Safety Bacarri Rambo.

I love Phil Steele. He’s very accurate in his assessment of teams and his staff provides tons of research that all fans should take into consideration. With that being said, when he is wrong he is REALLY wrong and there are some teams he really misreads( He had Ole Miss on top of the West last year). But he’s usually right on the money, especially in regards to UGA. He had the Dawgs finishing 2nd in the East last year and they finished 3rd. That just shows you how down the SEC was last year when a team that finishes 8-5 still has a shot at being 2nd or 3rd in their division.

Did you read the article?
Boykin is first as kick off return
third as cornerback. Two

all these pre-season guys and it still comes down to breaking-in a RFr QB…. His learning curve will cost a few games, but at least UT, UF are breaking-in QBs as well… As a Clemson man, (who watched us break-in a RFr QB last year), I hate to even say that SC may have their best shot (probably ever) to contend for the East — they have the most experinced QB in the East… Should be an interesting year in the East…

This will get the leghumpers overly-excited and should jump start the annual over-hype and over-expectation carnival of laughs and entertainment a few weeks early.

Classic.

I love it! Richt should get his 9-10 wins on this easy schedule. The Dawgs will be all happy and still no SEC East title. UGA the Dale Earnhardt Jr of the SEC. HAHAHAH. Win some but never get the CHAMPIONSHIP.

TOO BAD GEORGIA FOOTBALL IS AVERAGE UNLIKE THE CHAMPIONSHIP FOOTBALL TEAMS AT ALABAMA AND FLORIDA. SABAN AND MEYER ARE CHAMPIONSHIP COACHES. GEORGIA IS LIKE TENNESSEE NOW. IN DIGRESSION!

There is nothing “average” about UGA. The only average things on this board on you and james, and thats being nice. By the way, people can still read your post if ALL CAPS arent used. Your boy Meyer had an unethical bypass at birth, and now UF’s best player in their history is gone.. and so is their run at backing into national titles

The best kicker in the SEC is wearing orange and blue, Chas Henry, a Georgia lad who is being projected as the highest punter taken in the draft next year. It is all about hang time for a real football team. Only a losing team cares about average yards on a punt, but that certainly is expected from the Poodles, a team more interested in prancing and dancing.

The General Feeling James’ and Harold’s POADs – Why are y’all on here? The thing we Georgia fans expect more than anything else is to beat Tech in football. That has rarely proved to be unrealistic.

Gator, how many multiple drug failures is Foley/Meyer going to keep on the field this season?
Difference between Georgia and Florida= Georgia’s player 2 failed drug tests, 6 game suspension
Florida’s 5 failed tests, only suspened 1 game possibly and still up to Foley who can knock that down to zero depending on the player.
If Florida’s swamprats played at any respectable school with actual rules they wouldnt have enough players to field a team.

and so is their run at backing into national titles

harold…just to educate your dumbazzz “DIGRESSION” has nothing to do with “decline” di·gres·sion (d-grshn, d-)
n.
1. The act of digressing.
2. An instance of digressing, especially a written or spoken passage that has no bearing on the main subject.
