Richt thinks a lot of recruits ‘are close to pulling the trigger for Georgia’

As you know, NCAA rules don’t permit coaches to talk publicly about specific recruits. But speaking in generalities, Mark Richt made it clear to a Bulldog Club gathering in Macon that he thinks things are going very well on the recruiting trail for Georgia this spring.

“I think we’ve got a tremendous class started,” Richt said. “I think we have a tremendous amount of interest from the best players in this state and a lot of great players around this country, mostly Southeast but a few guys a little bit further away.

“And there are a lot of guys that I think are close to pulling the trigger for Georgia. So the recruiting front looks outstanding.”

He said he’s impressed with the recruiting work of his three new defensive coaches.

“One thing I like about Coach [Todd] Grantham and the new staff,” Richt said, “is I think they’ve done a great job of knowing exactly what they want by position and are able to look at that film and . . . make a decision: Should we or should we not [offer]?”

Two in-state players being recruited by Georgia for its 2011 signing class, East Hall DE/OLB  Sterling Bailey and Mitchell County WR Justin Scott-Wesley, plan to announce their college choices Friday night and Saturday, respectively. The AJC’s Chip Towers will be on hand for both announcements. FRIDAY NIGHT UPDATE: Bailey committed to Georgia.  Chip’s report is here.

Richt can talk all he wants about evaluation. Has he seen the offensive center at Ole Miss? His name is AJ hawkins from MLK in Atlanta. Wanted to come to UGA but was truned down. 6′4″ 315 lbs. and ATHLETIC! Until Richt and Booboo have the guts to commit to this type of kid along the offensive line UGA will continue to be what it is. AVERAGE.

Roll Tide…why are such a loser that you must come onto a website with UGA articles? Get a life man, dress your sister up like a pig or something if your tired of the same old girlfriend.

Every year, UGA idiots get all pumped up over your recruiting class. And every year you finish 2nd or 3rd in the division. Can’t one of you connect the dots and see there’s a huge disconnect between where your recruiting classes are ranked and the team’s W-L record?

No, I don’t think any of you are smart enough to make the connection. Go back to your beer, and try to remember the month’s only half over, so make that unemployment check last till the end of the month.

With all these superstars that richt will be bringing in, he should begin taking over the SEC east soon. I’m tired of these blowouts every year and dealing with these obnoxious florida fans!

I’m not just a west coast hawks fan. I’m a west coast dawg fan. I keep telling my univ. of washington and fresno st. univ. friends that the real bulldogs reside in the SEC! I will now give my opinion on one of the things uga should do to be successful this year. Mike Bobo should use Branden Smith the same way Urban Meyer used Percy Harvin. This guy has blazing speed! Think of all the different ways he can be utilized on offense. I know he is being used in the defensive secondary but I think he should be used solely on offense. I’m not sure if the dawgs lack depth in the secondary or not but if they are able to get by without Branden then he should only play offense. All you have to do is take a look back at that run he had against South Carolina last year. Now imagine him getting about 15 touches a game! The possibilities are endless!! He would open up everything for the offense in addition to having a great rb tandem in Ealey and King. Just a thought. GO DAWGS!!!!
