Richt thinks a lot of recruits ‘are close to pulling the trigger for Georgia’

As you know, NCAA rules don’t permit coaches to talk publicly about specific recruits. But speaking in generalities, Mark Richt made it clear to a Bulldog Club gathering in Macon that he thinks things are going very well on the recruiting trail for Georgia this spring.

“I think we’ve got a tremendous class started,” Richt said. “I think we have a tremendous amount of interest from the best players in this state and a lot of great players around this country, mostly Southeast but a few guys a little bit further away.

“And there are a lot of guys that I think are close to pulling the trigger for Georgia. So the recruiting front looks outstanding.”

He said he’s impressed with the recruiting work of his three new defensive coaches.

“One thing I like about Coach [Todd] Grantham and the new staff,” Richt said, “is I think they’ve done a great job of knowing exactly what they want by position and are able to look at that film and . . . make a decision: Should we or should we not [offer]?”

Two in-state players being recruited by Georgia for its 2011 signing class, East Hall DE/OLB  Sterling Bailey and Mitchell County WR Justin Scott-Wesley, plan to announce their college choices Friday night and Saturday, respectively. The AJC’s Chip Towers will be on hand for both announcements. FRIDAY NIGHT UPDATE: Bailey committed to Georgia.  Chip’s report is here.

Yeah. I am more than slightly amused at UGA fans who keep bringing up the overall Florida record as though it really means anything by todays standards. It says NOTHING about where the program is today…in a state of decline. You have to go back over 70 YEARS for UGA to begin to have that record advantage. That’s almost 4 generations and prior to WW II. Nobody even knew who Hitler was. There wasn’t even a jet to hop on and fly to Jacksonville. Computers were science fiction. Alot of people still rode horses.I know its hard to believe Patrick, but nobody even carried around a Droid. And I laugh at UMiami for living in the past!

I am not surprised that recruits are again looking at Georgia, because Richt got rid of that imposter disguised as a Defensive Coordinator. It is good to also hear that they are looking for specific types for the different position. It surprises me though that CMR seems surprised or excited about what they are now doing, which begs to inquire on what basis were scholarships offered in past years. With all been said I have now decided to no longer get excited about recruiting, as many 4 and 5 star recruits never live up to the hype.

LOL another top recruiting season for Georgia as rated by the impartial AJC followed by more seasons of subpar playing. Georgia will always be known regionally with loyal following and nationally as a team that usually underperforms. Occiasionally will will a SEC crown but usually midpack in the SEC. Not known for playing a tough out of conference schedule like Bama, LSU, Fla and Tenn.

Auburn, UF, UT and Bama continue to cheerry pick the state while Georgia grabs the leftovers. Even Tech is stealing their normal recruits. UGA headed for a 8-5 season with Colorado upseting the puppys at home.

Don’t you need to tag this story….PRESS RELEASE….University fo Georgia Football Information Department….and not use a byline for the AJC? You can ditto this story for every winning program in the SEC. Bama and Florida, certainly, are in the hunt for just about every major player in the country….as is Georgia. This story has little relevance to it.

Most of our recruits can be seen every Saturday at 8 pm on “Americas Most Wanted”, thugs.

How can we believe what he says? This is the same man who swore (promised) that we would not tolerate being penalized like we had been in 2008. I think we all know that CMR’s problem is not recruiting, it character evaluation. We don’t pay him to talk about how super our coaches and recruits are, we pay him to beat TN, Auburn, and FL.

Now that we’re officially in the off-season, wouldn’t this be the perfect time to take an in-depth look at UGA and have a free-ranging discussion about the problems at UGA and why the arrest rate of players is the highest in the country? it’s common knowledge that UGA is a party school, but have any football players every actually graduated with a real degree? Jan Kemp exposed the school and the coaches almost three decades ago, but there is no sign that anything has improved; if anything, the arrest rate shows that things are getting more outrageous every year while Mark Richt – a decent fellow with minimal coaching skills – has no clue what to do.

UGA has become a major embarrassment to all Georgians, and we want some answers starting now.

The Poodle advantage in the series is now largely the result of winds during WWII by the pups. Gators were off saving the world from Hitler, and draft-dodging poodles were back home playing football, e.g. there greatest RB ever before Herschel. Guys were dying for their nation while he was chalking up yards to win a Heisman. Poodles should eliminate the wins by draft dodgers during WWII.

With the steady stream of lawbreakers UGA has recruited during the past few years, Georgian should get very, very nervous when Mark Richt says that athletes he is recruiting are “getting ready to pull the trigger.”

I wanted info on the new committment and instead there are comments from GT fans who dream of even being equal to UGA. Tech is a 2nd level team. Over 500,000 more fans watch the Bulldogs live each year than Tech. Fans don’t lie. UGA does not have to play on Thursday in order to play on TV. TV don’t lie. Get a life and a different blog GT fan (all ten of you).

Lane Pimpin — “The Poodle advantage in the series is now largely the result of winds during WWII by the pups.” Were these some kind of magical, fairy winds? Go do some research on on World War II and see how long the US was in it and compare that with Georgia’s lead in the series. I know the math may be difficult for you but if you try really hard I think you can do it.

If you guys insist on bringing up GT and Al Groh,I hope GT has a wheel chair and respirator on the sideline for the old geezer. Toward the end of the 2010 season, Groh will announce he is retiring from coaching.
