Richt thinks a lot of recruits ‘are close to pulling the trigger for Georgia’
As you know, NCAA rules don’t permit coaches to talk publicly about specific recruits. But speaking in generalities, Mark Richt made it clear to a Bulldog Club gathering in Macon that he thinks things are going very well on the recruiting trail for Georgia this spring.
“I think we’ve got a tremendous class started,” Richt said. “I think we have a tremendous amount of interest from the best players in this state and a lot of great players around this country, mostly Southeast but a few guys a little bit further away.
“And there are a lot of guys that I think are close to pulling the trigger for Georgia. So the recruiting front looks outstanding.”
He said he’s impressed with the recruiting work of his three new defensive coaches.
“One thing I like about Coach [Todd] Grantham and the new staff,” Richt said, “is I think they’ve done a great job of knowing exactly what they want by position and are able to look at that film and . . . make a decision: Should we or should we not [offer]?”
Two in-state players being recruited by Georgia for its 2011 signing class, East Hall DE/OLB Sterling Bailey and Mitchell County WR Justin Scott-Wesley, plan to announce their college choices Friday night and Saturday, respectively. Hey Techies, thanks for the laughs. There is a big difference between you and the SEC fans. Techies get on here with mindless dribble and make no sense because they have ZERO facts to back up anything. I give UF credit. They have backed up their talk. In reading what Techies post here, unbelievable?
You should not want CMR to be at UGA. You are on here because you are afraid of the recruiting job that CMR and the new coaches are doing. Admit it; you hate the fact that UGA will always own you! Make all your arrest jokes you want, but in doing so please catch on your own players headlines. I so look forward to the beat down that will take place to the bugs come this November! GO DAWGS!

Papadawg …you are correct the only fans that can really talk trash to UGA is UF. Hopefully that is going to change starting this year but we still will need to win several in a row against them.

82Dawg, I try not to talk trash and will ignore comments about UF when the argument was started by a Florida fan. But sometimes it is hard to ignore some Dawg comments. Let’s just agree (i hope) that both schools have some idiots as fans. If you graduated in 82 then you should remember the days when UGA fans were talking all the trash. I rule to all is: show some class and act like you been there before.

The only thing I want to see is UGA’s immergence as the new dominator of the UGA vs UF game. Richt is 2-7 in that series and UGA is 46-39. We need to keep that lead and make it grow so UF will NEVER and I mean NEVER catch up.
Interesting facts about that series… UGA won the first game 37-0, UGA has the LARGEST margin of victory 75-0. Fun Facts of the day!

Ga Gator…I second your statement. We have to respect each other. Ironically, I had a good conversation about the series and the 2 teams with a few Gator fans the other day. It was respectfull and really fun. Now the Dawgs just need to get back to business and it will really be fun.

True, I date a UGA girl and go to all the home games and usually 1 away game in addition to Jax. Last year she went with me to see FL/TN in the swamp and had fun. I root for UGA every game but one.

ga gator, true. The series will come back our way one day or at least become competitive from our side, I hope. The sooner the better. People look at as UGA having a bad run which is true, however, there are a lot of teams that Florida has beaten these past two decades. Nice run for you guys but I can’t wait for it to end.

good comments by ga gator and true dawg, we need some respect on some of these blogs, but unfortunately some of the gator fans and also dawg fans don’t choose to play that way..As far as Techsters bashing the dawgs record, you might want to wait a few years before playing that card when and if you have a record against us as the gators do right now…You definately have no room to talk about your record against coach Richt…As i said, and it hurts to say it, the gators are the only program that can actually say they have our number right now…

Same old stuff from poodle fans. Either they want to talk about the past when it comes to the UF dominance during this generation, OR they want to talk about a future that always looks rosy and a time when they end the Gator dominance. Now, it is Tebow gone that will make the difference. Two years from now, it will be Brantley gone and the pups finally will show some respectable football in Jax.
The past (very distant past) and the future (very removed future) always are more appetizing to the poodle whose main task in life if to find a post upon which to take a whiz.

UGA should construct a state-of-the-art prison on campus – that will make the kind of recruits they attract commit immediately – nothing like getting an early taste of what will eventually be their permanent home anyway (the prison cells)

The Tech fans are funny…they still talk aoubt 45-42…they say we coach players down to 1 star; and yet, that 45-42 win was the only one in the last decade, and we beat their best team in 20 years in their house with our worse team in 10 years…like I said…they are funny, and when they run out of anything football to talk about, they talk basball scores…lol

When is the last time Georgia won the SEC championship, you can get all the 4 and 5 starts recruit you want but if they don’t fit the system it means nothing (like the last 3 year), besides if they don’t play well together (Owens and Weston) then no championship, CAN YOU DIG IT!!!!!!

They pulled the trigger on that can of spray paint and painted my a$$. If I was a recruit I’d want to know what kind of coach lets his little mascot get his a$$ painted at a bowl game. Not much is being said about this and I think I know why . . .
They better recruit a new mascot with a pure white a$$. If they don’t find one and come crawling back to me I am going to get some pretty good benefits you can be sure.
