Makiri Pugh, a reserve safety on Georgia’s football team, will transfer to another school in search of more playing time, UGA said Wednesday night.
“We are appreciative of Makiri’s contributions during his two years at Georgia,” coach Mark Richt said in a statement. “We understand and support his decision to transfer and wish him great success the remainder of his career.”
Pugh, who was redshirted as a freshman in 2008 and appeared in nine games (no starts) last season, was behind at least four other safeties in spring practice: Bacarri Rambo, Nick Williams, Jakar Hamilton and Shawn Williams. The Bulldogs also have rising senior Quintin Banks at safety, and prized recruit Alec Ogletree will join the crowd at the position this summer.
Pugh, from Charlotte, had two tackles last season. He played in Georgia’s G-Day spring scrimmage on April 10, recording two tackles.

With Sheriff Richt getting tough on crime I think Mr. Pugh was guilty of a lack of foresight.
By fall, unless Richt goes back to his old ways “thUG”A
will need any safety they can find. He might have been able to get a little running back in
and have gotten some both ways playing time.

13 NATIONAL TITLES – 22 SEC TITLES!!!
HEY BudDro$ – judging by your 11:20 post – appears you are jealous of UGA football and the SEC – I am guessing you are a GATech and an ACC fan?
Nice comment on UGA’s “weak” schedule!!!
I am sure GT is shaking in the boots with their hard schedule in 2010 – that includes notable football powers SC STATE, MTSU, KANSAS, NC STATE, DUKE, WAKE, and VIRGINIA. I do give credit for CLEMSON, VT, NC and MIAMI…… and of course UGA – which was the 5th or 6th best team in the SEC last year – and still beat the 2009 ACC champion!!! Also, South Carolina, the 6th or 7th best SEC team, beat up on the 2009 ACC runner up – which is one of your tougest games!!
Nice – real nice!!! How about winnning a bowl game and beating UGA more than once in a decade before you argue your position of Tech superiority!!!!
I will root for GT to win the ACC again this year! And hope that your school is not totally embarrassed in yet another bowl game blow out loss in 2011.

I love idiot GT fans. So delusional. What kind of losers make rings to commemorate beating an out of conference opponent once in the last decade. That’s very sad for you, b/c believe it or not, beating you pathetic tasty bees in Nov. does NOT make our season.. You wanna know why? Because we EXPECT TO BEAT YOU every year. And that’s not an exaggeration, or wishful thinking. We save our “tune-up” game (i.e. “cupcake”) until the last game of the regular season. Argue, whine, and lie all you want, but deep down, you KNOW we a supposed to win every game. Better go on and start scheduling GSU before they get too strong under Curry, or you will lose your chance to beat up on another in state school. Really, you should try it sometime.. Its really fun

If you don’t know what he did by now, that is your own fault for posting instead of reading.
If anyone is going to criticize Coach Richt over his dismissal, they are wrong.
If anyone is going to support ZM, they are very wrong.
You can also read about what he did to the lady on 680 The fan, and while that is a media guy writing it, he has 3 sources.
Or you can read about it first hand. They all say exactly the same details.

Depending on what region of the country that you lived in and certainly on what newspaper that you read and the fact that ( ESPN) tv sports rankings was not a factor, nor were any media beyond local/regional writers, AP and UPI, you had F-O-U-R ( 4 ) teams ranked #1 in 1990.
So, the four were:
SE except Florida- Ga Tech
Florida and up east- MIami
Midwest Chicago- Notre Dame and Colorado tied
Yes, 4 are btter than one NC and in 1990, that is what we had ……….4.

The issue? really? Depth is it
April 22nd, 2010
9:05 am
Depth is the issue at safety for UGA. That kid from Charlotte is probably a great athlete but if you read the several names that are now and will be keeping him on the bench ……….it makes good sense for him to split. He could go to any ACC school and be All Conference.
We have Ogletree and Jakar and Rambo and too many MORE big timer safeties for him to hang around.
Actually, given the recent revelations about ZM and the third string punter and now this kid, UGA is getting MORE spots to offer for class of 2011. Last year’s class ( current incoming frosh ) is small, so we will need to have about 28-30 spots to fill anyway. All of this “attrition” is NORMAL, IF you have ever been around a major college program …………you would recognize this for what it is.
Go Dogs.

STOP LIVING IN THE PAST GEORGIA FANS!!!! IT’S NOT 1980 ANYMORE. With that said, I’m talking about the 2010 football schedule. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE YEAR IS 2010? I AGREE OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS GEORGIA HAS HAD A TOUGH SCHEDULE. UGA doesn’t have to play LSU or Ala this year. The only ranked team Georgia plays is Fla. and GT. Auburn isn’t that good and Tennessee will not be ranked. Tennessee has a horrible coaching and quarterback situation going on over there. I’ll give you South Carolina, but I can’t give you Arkansas. I don’t think Arkansas is going to be as good as people think. I would love to put money on who has the harder strength of schedule when it comes out, any takers?

UGA has 4 MNCs, but that’s not really going to help them with recruiting right now. Likewise with Tech

GT played a JV schedule in 1990, while Colorado played a man’s schedule. They received the most first place votes combined. Ya douche.

GT BABY, that’s what’s so funny about the MNC debate, there used to be so many polls and so many different “champions”. I am sure Illinois will be wooing recruits with the 27 championship. Just you wait!

Hey Nerds, the talk is about a guy transfering to another school to get more playing time. Man, I can get the UF & Bama fans on here talking trash. They earned. NERD HERD has no room to speak at all. If we are as bad as the Nerd Herd says we are, then that makes your pitiful, pathetic team just plain awful!!! 8 out of 9 Nerds! Do I even have to talk about the series record. The last time you finished the season in the top 10? The lasttime you won a BCS Bowl game? It hurts you so bad that you have to live in a false identity as a Gator or Bama fan.
TECH SUCKS! Plan and simple. Now go crawl back under that rock you came out of. Back to the Blue Turf Bowl for you!

Hey Tech fans, you’ll always have fall of 2008. Remember the good times no matter how short lived they were. Keep that chin up you’ll beat UGA again one day. Probably in about 8 more years. Hang in there!

seems like any time the tools finish the season anywhere near the top 10, they try and claim that season as a “national championship” year. No wonder they are only able to falsely claim 4.

Georgia Tech has a losing record to Georgia in EVERY SPORT the two compete in except Men’s Basketball, and most by a wide margin.
The Trade School was founded, funded, chartered, concieved, and implemented by UGA graduates.
UGA is the flagship, Tech is a dressed up school of drafting…………and it has always been so.
Tech makes up National Championship comparisons……..despite the fact that the NCAA only recoginzes one National Championship for GTU Total, IN ALL SPORTS, in 100+ years of athletic competition. UGA has somewhere between 35-40, it’s difficult to keep up with because they usually add 2-3 per year. Georgia could claim 5 Mythical Championships to the 4 that Tech claims. But being that the NCAA doesn’t recognize any………….Georgia simply claims it’s two consesus, 1942 & 1980…………Tech can’t claim any consensus and certainly not a unanimous MNC, but they’re proud to claim two fragmented titles from two teams for which not a single letterman is still alive.
And this is why you see them to hoping for Georgia’s demise……….because they are not relevant and have little ability to be. They use the news of a safety transferring as reason to comment on a Georgia blog……….but they’d comment on anything with respect to UGA because thats the predictable reaction when you get routinely thumped…………in every endeavor for which you partake.
